93 points James Suckling: "Dried apple and pineapple with hints of coconut, steel and some flint. Full-bodied and tight with intensity and power. This will open nicely with bottle age. Try after 2022." (07/2021) 92 points Vinous: "The 2019 Chardonnay is a unique wine, as it includes a fair amount of Viognier that adds pretty floral and tropical overtones. Apricot, mint, tangerine oil, chamomile and dried flowers all open nicely in the glass. (AG)" (01/2021)

Chiron Winery was founded in Calistoga by Mark McCoy and Bobby Moy. From the winery: "Our approach to making wine parallels this link between nature and culture. We select ideal vineyard sites and apply both art and science in our winemaking. We find these vineyards through our relationships with passionate farmers who share our love of living soils to grow the best possible grapes. In the winery we foster the wine, using minimal intervention, to create wine that best expresses the vineyards. We prefer the term, winegrowing, to describe this approach t...

Angelique and Damien (The "A" and "D" of A.D. Coutelas) have 17.5 acres, mostly in Villers sous Chatillon, but also in Ambonny, Bouzy, Vitry-le-François, and Troissy. Their family has been growing since 1809 and started making their own Champagnes in the '20s. The majority of their vines are over 60 years in age, and all the work in the vineyards and cellar is done by hand.

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Mountain Estate Vineyard (84% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance Merlot and Petit Verdot) spent 22 months in 80% new French oak. It has a more mineral-laced style as well as dark currants and cassis-like fruits, notes of smoked herbs and graphite, full body, building tannins, and a great finish. There's a touch of this liqueur of rock like minerality that comes out with air and it's a powerful, structured wine that reminds me of what Leoville Las Cases would make from Napa. Hide bottle for 4-5 years and...

This wine comes from the organically-tended Spring Ridge Vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains, a two-acre planting on an east-facing slope at about 600 feet above sea level. The site is dry-farmed, which makes for an inredible earth-driven Pinot with all of the Santa Cruz character you want and the balance, texture and deliciousness you'd expect from a wine made by Bob and Jim Varner.

93 points Wine Advocate: "Pale to medium ruby, the 2017 Pinot Noir Hidden Block has a pretty nose of underbrush, soil, mint leaves, pure red and black cherries, rhubarb and strawberries with lovely floral notes coming through. The palate is medium-bodied with bright fruits and loads of spicy, earthy accents. It has a firm, finely grained frame and seamless freshness, finishing long and nuanced. Lovely! 225 cases produced. 94 points Vinous: "Dyer's Cabernet Sauvignon remains incredibly distinctive even in an unusual year like 2017. Cedar, dried flowers, iron, game and blood orange give the 2017 striking aromatic nuance and depth. On the palate, the wine is a bit less forthcoming though. Readers should plan on giving the 2017 at least a few years in bottle for the tannins to soften. Even in the early going, the 2017 is so enticing. (AG)" (01/2020) 93 points Wine Advocate: "Blended of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon plus small portions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot aged 20 mon...

96 points Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain is deep garnet-purple in color. It erupts from the glass with intense Black Forest cake, plum preserves and crème de cassis scents, followed by hints of Indian spices, underbrush and unsmoked cigars. The full-bodied palate is concentrated and lively, featuring loads of earthy nuances intertwined with the rich black fruit preserves flavors and a velvety texture, finishing long and spicy. (LPB)" (11/2021) 96 points Vinous: "The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is sublime. Bright and savory, wi...

96 points Vinous: "The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is a bold, pungent wine. So many 2018s are succulent and open-knit, but the Dyer Cabernet is far from that. It clearly is going to need at least a few years to come together. The aromatics alone are beguiling. Lavender, sage, licorice and inky blue/purplish fruit all come alive in the glass. Readers will find a beautifully complex, savory Cabernet full of character. (AG)" (12/2020) 93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Another classic, Old World styled wine from this estate that needs bottle age, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvi...

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "This tiny estate has turned out a blockbuster 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Dyer Vineyard, which is 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot. Aged 20 months in 50% new French oak, it offers plenty of lifted blue fruit notes, some mountain scrub and green herbs, tobacco, plenty of old school charm, and a structured, medium to full-bodied style. There are just over 300 cases made, but it’s a beautiful, seamless, classic Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon that will keep for two decades or more." (01/2019) 95 p...

97 points The Wine Independent: "Opaque purple-black colored, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Bonny's Vineyard prances out with showy scents of Morello cherries, wild blueberries, and black raspberries, leading to a core of black currant jelly and violets. The full-on, full-bodied palate is densely laden with black and blue berry layers, framed by fine-grained tannins and well-knit freshness, finishing long and earthy. 94 points Int'l Wine Review: "This 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is a masterfully crafted blend, featuring fruit sourced from the renowned regions of Oakville, Howell Mountain, Yountville, Calistoga, and Pritchard Hill. The wine opens with captivating aromas of black fruits, dark cherry, and subtle floral notes, followed by layers of ripe black plum, raspberry, and wild berry bramble. Complex undertones of black pepper, mocha, and smoky oak further elevate the aromatic profile. On the palate, velvety tannins provide structure and elegance, seamlessly integrati...

95 points Vinous: "The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon The Widowmaker En Chamberlin Vineyard is a spectacular wine by famed vigneron Christophe Baron. The beautiful, hedonistic nose features green bell pepper, smoke, black cherry cordial and wild mushroom tones. The palate is silky and elegant, with a bright sense of minerality. Ripe dark fruits combine with black tea, exotic spices and smoky undertones and a rich mouthfeel. Layered and complex, this beautiful effort will continue to evolve well for a decade or more. Nice fluidity to it. Lovely texture at the end. 82% Cabernet Sauvignon with Petite Sirah and others. Drink or hold." 92 points Vinous: "The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a fabulous wine in its peer group and a stunning value—one of the best in Napa Valley. There are basically no Napa Valley wines at the price point, especially for this level of quality. A rush of da...

This compact, power-packed red showcases a seamless integration of fine-grained tannins and layers of complex character, making it an exceptional value considering its pedigreed winemaker and grape sources. An alluring pop of dried sage teases the senses, while ...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "The mineral-driven nose on this excellent bottling recalls apples splashed in lemon benign crunched on the side of a cool creek, with the aroma of wet stone in the air.
