This wine was a revelation to me during a recent tasting! Such a beautifully pure, elegant, expressive Zinfandel. It perfectly captures the exotic, forward fruit of the varietal, but also has lots of lift and freshness on the palate. It weighs in at a very moderate 13.9% alcohol. From 30+-year-old, head-trained vines on Stulhmuller's Alexander Valley estate. Volumes grew, and the wine fermented in a 10,000-liter stainless steel tank with indigenous yeasts and matured for 12 months in used 300-liter oak barrels and some 6% in new 500-liter oak barrels.
