2015 Hanzell "Estate" Sonoma Valley Chardonnay (Elsewhere $65) (Elsewhere $65)
Top Pick!
94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Showing beautifully, the 2015 Chardonnay offers a touch of maturity in its caramelized peach, pineapple, flora, and toasted bread-like aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied and beautifully textured on the palate, it has plenty of fruit, a solid spine of acidity, and a clean, mineral-laced finish. This is just a beautiful Chardonnay from Sonoma that's drinking at point today yet will evolve nicely for another 5-7 years." (12/2020) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Chardonnay is a little reticent to begin, slowing unf...

Top Pick!
90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Santenay 1er Cru Passetemps Rouge offers attractive brambly red berry fruit on the nose, quite natural and more refined than the Les Hâtes. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine line of acidity, plenty of juice cranberry and blackcurrant notes that belie the structure underneath. This is an excellent Santenay that deserves a couple of years in bottle for the tannins to soften. Top Pick!
92 points James Suckling: "Violets and hints of tobacco with leafy cabernet nuances and a ripe dark-fruit edge. The palate has a suave array of blue fruit and some redder-berry notes. Very focused and fresh. This has terrific appeal. " (11/2018) K&L Notes: Judd's Hill is like a winery from a whole different era. New Riff Bottled-In-Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (750ml) (Previously $45) (Previously $45)
Top Pick!
Whisky Advocate: "Fresh and delicate on the nose, with stone fruit—especially peaches—white pepper, orange Creamsicle, and spice. A generous oak backbone provides the foundation for plums, nectarines, black pepper, clove, chamomile tea, and piney cedar that sweeps into a dry oak, cocoa, iced-tea finish. Although a bit hot at times, the balance and array of flavors is an outstanding coup for this young distillery. (SSB winter 2018)" K&L Notes: Quite frankly, there isn't a project in Kentucky as exciting as New Riff if you're a classic Bourbon fan. Ken Le...

This wine was a revelation to me during a recent tasting! Such a beautifully pure, elegant, expressive Zinfandel. It perfectly captures the exotic, forward fruit of the varietal, but also has lots of lift and freshness on the palate. It weighs in at a very moderate 13.9% alcohol. From 30+-year-old, head-trained vines on Stulhmuller's Alexander Valley estate. Co-fermented with Petite Sirah and Carignane, basket pressed, aged for 18 months in a mix of French and American oak with just 20% being new. Cabernet Franc can exist in two styles; the more elegant central Loire style or the more muscular style found in Bordeaux. The Bayly Ranch Cab Franc is more a nod towards the Loire Valley reds of Chinon, Saumur, and Bourgueil. Tobacco notes and plums frame the nose. The wine is medium weight and more of an Old World style that beguiles you with an ethereal expression of the grape. There’s plenty of bright berries, mild spice, and a long savory finish. It’s no wonder this has become of one of our best sellers.

Phil Baxter is one of the most talented winemakers in Anderson Valley. He also works with some of the finest vineyards of the region including Valenti, Oppenlander, Ferrington, and Langley. It should come as no surprise then that this appellation level Pinot Noir is one of the best you'll find at this price point. A rich, dark fruited style, but with plenty of savory intrigue and forest floor qualities adding complexity and depth. If you don't know the Baxter wines, this is the perfect place to get on board.
