Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2015 Casa Castillo "Las Gravas" Jumilla (94RP, 93VN). Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Las Gravas is a classic Mediterranean blend of Monastrell with 15% each Garnacha and Syrah, with 15% alcohol after fermenting with part of full clusters and indigenous grapes and aging in used oak barrels for 19 months. 2015 is the last vintage that Las Gravas has some Syrah, as it adds some sweet fruit he wants to avoid. However, it shows fresh within the balsamic profile, with plenty of rosemary and thyme notes combined with floral undertones and the character of the esparto grass and tree bark that are textbook descriptors of the variety. Bid on this 5-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 2016 Tablas Creek Adelaida District Mourvèdre (92WE, 91RP), 1-bottle of 2017 Tablas Creek Adelaida District Mourvèdre (93VN, 90WS), 1-bottle of 2017 Tablas Creek Adelaida District Syrah (93VN, 92DC, 92RP, 90JD), 1-bottle of 2017 Tablas Creek Paso Robles Grenache (93VN), and 1-bottle of 2020 Tablas Creek Adelaida District Syrah ((92-93VN)). Of the 2017 Tablas Creek Adelaida District Mourvèdre, Vinous writes: "Inky ruby. Vibrant black raspberry and cherry cola scents are complemented by suggestions of violet and exotic spices. Deep and fleshy on the palate, offering sweet, densely packed red and dark berry preserve and bitter chocolate flavors sweetened by a discreet floral pastille flourish. Becomes firmer with air and finishes with excellent clarity, polished tannins and strong, floral-dominated persistence. (JR)" (02/2020)
