The producer notes, "This wine is a blend of selected single vineyard Chardonnay estate grapes, with a large portion coming from our Dijon clones 76 and 17. The Chardonnay grapes are picked between 24 and 26 degrees brix to ensure mature ripe fruit flavors. The wine is 100% barrel fermented with wild yeast, resting in 50% new French oak for 10 months before bottling. The wine is neither heat nor cold stabilized, and is un-fined and un-filtered, clarified only by racking before bottling."

Chev was founded by Michael Browne who is one of the co-founders of Kosta Browne, which was sold to Duckhorn Wine Company in 2018. While Kosta Browne found most of its success through vineyard designates, the focus on Chev is to produce one wine from a variety of sources to showcase the very best of a vintage. Winery tasting notes: "Fresh papaya, spiced apricot, and light crème caramel accented with freshly grated nutmeg. An opulent texture balanced by lively acidity, reminiscent of fresh, lively cream washing over the palate. Pure minerality and a long,...

94 points Vinous: "The 2019 Chardonnay The Meadows is creamy and ample in the glass, but shows the fresh, vibrant style that defines the vintage at Hansel. Lemon confit, spice, dried flowers and chamomile all take shape in the glass. Dry-farmed Chardonnay, all Hanzell clone, on the lowest-lying blocks of the property, yielded a Chardonnay with thick skins and notable intensity. (AG)" (01/2021)

94 points Vinous: "The 2019 Chardonnay The North Slope Vineyard is one of the most overtly, powerful wines in this range. A wine of real phenolic intensity, the North Slope is a structured, savory Chardonnay that is going to need a few years to come around. It is incredibly distinctive. 94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Green-hued yellow. Highly complex aromas of pear skin, smoky peat, iodine, flowers and lemon zest. Reminds me a bit of an Islay whisky. Densely packed, spicy and focused, with excellent energy to the candied citrus, mineral and spice flavors. This has a powerful core of minerality and shows superb depth and back end energy. Finishes long and smoky, with strong suggestions of minerals, violet and iodine. Wild stuff. (ST)" (05/2011) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "A big, rich, flashy Chardonnay that's de...

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2019 Rochioli "River Block" Russian River Valley Chardonnay (94RP, 94VN). Vinous: "The 2019 Chardonnay River Block is dense and powerful in the glass. Wente Clone yields a Chardonnay of real texture, density and weight. Apricot, dried flowers, mint, chamomile and a touch of spice build as this creamy, ample Chardonnay builds, with brighter floral accents that emerge over time. The River Block impresses with exceptional balance and tons of class. The plant material for the River Block was Steve Kistler's former Vine Hill property. (AG)" (01/2021)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aubert noted that this is his coolest site and usually the last to be harvested. Located near the Hyde Estate winery, by virtue of chilly afternoon breezes, it is indeed among the coolest sites on the Napa side of the Los Carneros AVA. This section is planted to Corton-Charlemagne clone on St. George rootstock. A barrel sample, it is being aged in 50% new French oak barrels. (LPB)" (01/2021)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2017 Rochioli "South River" Russian River Valley Chardonnay (95JD, 94RP, 94VN, 90WS). Jeb Dunnuck: "Coming from a site in the Russian River and aged eight months in French oak, the 2017 Chardonnay South River offers more lemon curd, white flowers, and crushed rock-like minerality as well as a beautifully balanced, vibrant style on the palate. It doesn't have the sheer richness of the River Block cuvée yet has fabulous purity, precision, and length while still playing in the richer, classical style of all Rochioli's wines. You can't go wrong with any of these Chardonnays. " (06/2019)
Starting Bid: $160.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2019 Aubert "Eastside Vineyard" Russian River Valley Chardonnay ((98-100VN), (96-98RP), 97WS). Vinous: "The 2019 Chardonnay Eastside Vineyard is deep, powerful and packed. Lemon confit, crushed rocks, menthol, graphite, chamomile and vanillin infuse the 2019 with striking layers of dimension. Bright acids give the sculpted finish tremendous persistence. Montrachet clone on Riparia rootstock in a rocky site yields a Chardonnay of rare distinction and class. (AG)" (01/2021)
