95 points Decanter: "An amazing, classic style with unique aromas, round tannins and a velvety texture, finishing suave and gorgeous. (panel tasting)" (11/2017) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The current release is the 1997 Gran Reserva 904, still densely colored and alluringly perfumed. (JM)" (06/2010) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright red. Seductively perfumed nose offers a complex bouquet of dried cherry, vanilla, cola, potpourri, smoky minerals and cedar. Silky red berry and cherry flavors are sweetened by v...

Bid on this bottle of 1997 Marcassin "Blue Slide Ridge" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (96RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The spectacularly complex, opulently-textured, lavishly rich 1997 Pinot Noir Blue Slide Ridge displays a saturated plum/purple color in addition to gorgeous aromas of blueberries, black cherries, lavender, and smoky oak. Intense and full-bodied, with fabulous concentration, a voluptuous texture, and a long finish, this is a stunning effort. Sadly, production was minuscule - 25 cases. This wine is available through the winery's mailing list, although some preferred Napa Valley restaurants, particularly the French Laundry, and in New York (Daniel and La Bernadin), seem to receive noteworthy allocations. Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 1997 Mitchelton Victoria Preece Shiraz. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Moderately saturated medium red. Redcurrant and clove aromas. Tangy but restrained redcurrant flavor enlivened by brisk acidity. A rather politely styled shiraz with modest flesh and sweetness. (ST)" (07/2000)
Starting Bid: $100.00

Bid on this bottle of 1997 Quintessa Rutherford Bordeaux Blend (90ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Claret-like aromas of plum, redcurrant, graphite, cocoa powder, tobacco and loam. Silky but firm in the mouth; juicy redcurrant, plum and tobacco flavors offer enticing sweetness. Not fat but smooth and stylish. Finishes with fine, dusty tannins and subtle length. (ST)" (11/2000)
Starting Bid: $111.00

Bid on this 2-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 1997 Duckhorn "Estate Grown" Napa Valley Merlot (90ST) and 1-bottle of 1997 Duckhorn "Three Palms" Napa Valley Merlot. Of the 1997 Duckhorn "Estate Grown" Napa Valley Merlot, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Deep ruby-red. Black raspberry, red- and blackcurrants and dark chocolate on the nose, plus hints of mint and green tobacco. Juicy, fruit-driven flavors of dark berries and cocoa powder, complicated by a whiff of meat. Offers classic '97 texture and sweetness. Ripe acids carry the fruit. Finishes with firm but smooth tannins and a note of Cuban tobacco. A youthful, fresh merlot with considerable appeal. (ST)" (05/2000)
Starting Bid: $105.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1997 Joseph Phelps Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (90ST, 90WE). Wine Enthusiast: "Full black-currant aromas with some briar and dust. Blackberry fruit on the palate, but most of all lots of charred oak manifested as coffee and bitter chocolate. In golf, this would be a middle-of-the fairway drive, but without the distance. It’s fresh and well made." (11/2000)
Starting Bid: $80.00

Bid on this bottle of 1997 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac ((90-91ST), 90RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby. Exotic, enticing aromas of black fruits, cherry cough syrup, roast coffee and caramel, along with pungent oakiness. Sweet, fat and thick in the mouth, but with adequate framing acidity. Quite ripe on the back end, with much finer tannins than the foregoing '97s. (ST)" (06/1999)
Starting Bid: $430.00
