92 points James Suckling: " Tart red fruit on the nose with ripe strawberries and cherries. Medium- to full-bodied with firm tannins and outstanding balance. The palate displays dusty red fruit with dried flowers and mineral notes on the finish." (03/2024) 92 points Vinous: "The 2022 Pinot Noir Un is remarkably pretty, with a lifted blend of dusty rose and violet pastille accentuating dried strawberries. This model of purity is lifted and refined with crisp red and blue fruits swirling across a stream of brisk acidity. The 2022 leaves a coating of fine...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This aromatic, textural and complex wine shows classic Pinot Noir scents of cherries, cloves and dark herbs, while revealing ample black cherries, sour cherries and an earthy, forest floor effect on the palate. It's a singular wine with a firm acid and tannin structure for pairing with food. Best through 2030." K&L Notes: Note from the producer: "Drive started as a home winemaking project in a former mechanics garage. We focus on micro-production wines, representing independently-owned vineyards from premier regions of Sonoma...

93 points Wine Advocate: "Medium garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Cuvee Alis Estate Vineyard is a blend of 51% Grenache, 19% Syrah, 17% Mourvedre, 12% Petite Sirah and 1% Viognier. The nose sings of preserved Morello cherries, mulberries, fruitcake and Chinese five spice with touches of potpourri, black pepper and licorice. Full-bodied, rich and decadently fruited, the palate provides a solid structure of firm, velvety tannins and tons of freshness to lift all that opulent fruit to a very long, spicy finish. 96 points Wine Enthusiast: "An inviting floral note in the aroma leads to beautiful cherry and berry flavors and an agreeable, moderately tannic texture in this full-bodied but approachable wine. It shows more complexity with each sip, and ends with a lingering finish. Best from 2026-2036." K&L Notes: The wines of Beau Vigne are now crafted cult winemaker Julien Fayard. 93 points Vinous: "The 2018 Red Wine is a total pleasure on the nose, leading off with a burst of crushed blueberries, peppery herbs and rosy florals. This soothes with its soft, pliant textures, as a contrasting blend of saline minerals and ripe wild berry fruits swirls throughout. The 2018 keeps the energy high. The mouth waters for more as violet inner florals and hints of licorice fade. This is almost too easy to like. It’s beautifully balanced. Medium in body and supremely polished, the 2021 is an absolute delight. Time in the glass brings out the wine's compelling inner perfume and sensuality. (AG)" (12/2023)

Boutique winery Vinoce continues to impress. Little surprise when you consider their wines are made by much-heralded winemaker Keith Emerson of Vineyard 29! Emerson crafts some of the most highly sought-after cult Cabs in the valley from St. Helena fruit at Vineyard 29, including wines rated at 100-points by Robert Parker himself. Considering that pedigree, Vinoce's St. Helena Cab is very well priced at the regular $60 SRP, but at our Insider's Advantage price of over 50% off, it's just plain ridiculous.

A tiny 200 case production from a single block of Cabernet Sauvignon at Monte Rosso Vineyard. The block is planted to a heritage field selection "clone" of Cabernet Sauvignon thought to be unique to Monte Rosso, grafted onto 110R drought-resistent rootstock that is well suited to the intensly rocky, red volcanic soils. The wine is matured for 21 months in 50% new French oak.

A rare independently bottled Aberlour, made that much more unusual by its maturation in a first fill sherry butt. The Aberlour distillery sits on the edge of its namesake, a gorgeous little hamlet right at the center of the Speyside region. The distillery seems tiny from the outside, but the malt here packs a punch. Amats is both the brand name of the Txakoli as well as one of Zudugarai's vineyards. It's a beautiful vineyard, a sandy substrate covered in naturally growing green cover crops between the rows, with the Cantabrian Sea in full view to the north. Produced from Hondarribi Zuri grapes, this is classic Txakoli: zippy, crisp, tart green apple flavors are enlivened by a lovely sparkle from the CO2 retained in tank during fermentation.

The Buselli Estate Oakville Cab is the definition of a hidden gem! After arriving in San Franciso in 1961, Italian immigrants Rosalia and Italo Buselli bought a small plot of land in the eastern hills of Oakville in 1988. In 1990 they planted 4 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard is directly adjacent to Rudd Estate and also neighbors Dalla Valle, David Ramey's Pedregal Vineyard and Tierra Roja Vineyard. It's about as prime of a location as one could wish for in Napa Valley. For several decades the Buselli family farmed their vines and continued sup...

When our first batch of Four Pillars Faultline Gin ran out, we were all devastated. Initially conceived as a one-off project, the FP Faultline turned out to be one of our most popular gins ever, both among staff and our customers. After months of trying to find a substitute, we conceded that the first go-around was just too good and needed to be remade to the exact same specs. The initial batch was put together by David Driscoll, K&L Buyer Emeritus, wanting to build on the clean citrus notes and the creamy texture that are the calling cards of Four Pilla...

Josh Raynolds of Vinous writes: "For sheer value in Beaujolais it’s hard to beat the wines from Jean-Michel Dupré, whose domain boasts a large proportion of old vine plantings, some over a century old. Over the last two decades Dupré has restored an old barn in Les Ardillats, just west and slightly north of Villié-Morgon, into a winery and increased his holdings to 14 hectares of vineyards, mostly in Morgon and neighboring Régnié. The wines of Aurore Dezat are a regular feature in our wine club offerings, and her vibrant Sancerre is an easy favorite among K&L staff as well. Aurore makes wine on her family estate in Sury-en-Vaux, which was established by her grandfather. Before Aurore took over the estate, most of the fruit was sold off through négociants.
