2020 Château de L'Ou "Secret de Schistes" Syrah Côtes Catalanes
Top Pick!
94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A big, meaty, mineral-laced Syrah, the dense purple-hued 2020 Cotes Catalanes Secret De Schistes offers up a great nose of blackberries, roasted herbs, chocolate, and graphite that develops more meaty and leather notes with time in the glass. Full-bodied, concentrated, and rich, it hits the palate with a soft, supple, seamless mouthfeel, impressive tannins, and a great finish." (05/2022) Jancis Robinson: "Smells like red apples, polished church pews and walnuts. Violin-string tension, tangy, a little more chisel and groove and t...

About 85% of the Terroir 11300 (Limoux's zipcode) is fermented and aged in stainless steel with 15% in 600L demi-muid barrels. 91 points James Suckling: "A medium-bodied red with dark cherries, plums, grilled herbs and baking spices. Fine tannins with a core of dark berries, chocolate and spices on the palate and a juicy finish. From organically grown grapes." (08/2023) K&L Notes: Mas Karolina is the project of Caroline Bonville, cousin of Olivier Bonville proprietor of one of our favorite Champagne houses Franck Bonville. Caroline originally hails from Bordeaux where much of her family still resides. Looking for her own property, she settled in the village of Maury located in...

Domaine Begude is a small, family-owned property located high in the foothills of the Pyrenees in the Limoux region of the Languedoc. Proprietor James Kinglake believes that Viognier has incredible potential in the region. The natural climatic influence of the Pyrenees to the south, the Atlantic to the west and the Mediterranean to the east provides a haven for grape varieties that excel in a cooler climate. The Viognier vineyards are at approximately 240 meters and are planted on a mix of clay-limestone soils. Though they are not going for Condrieu, ...

Mas Karolina is the project of Caroline Bonville, cousin of Olivier Bonville, who is proprietor of one of our favorite Champagne houses, Franck Bonville. Caroline originally hails from Bordeaux where much of her family still resides. Looking for her own property, she settled in the village of Maury located in the Roussillon. There, her restrained sensibilities are making some of the most pristine, clean and balanced wines in the region. This Maury is made in the classic fortified style much like the French equivalent of a ruby styled port. Rich and ful...

Domaine Begude is a small, family-owned property located high in the foothills of the Pyrenees in the Limoux region of the Languedoc. The long, cool growing season lends itself perfectly to the production of crisp and delicate wines, all organically certified by Ecocert. Vigneron James Kinglake has been secretly growing Gewurztraminer on his property for years but it wasn't recognized by the appellation board until recently. Also trying their hand at something fun and playful, they took a small amount of the Gewurztraminer and kept it on the skins for tw...

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A solid step up over the 2018, the 2019 Côtes Du Roussillon Villages L'Amourette is a 60/40 split of Mourvèdre and Grenache offering a great nose of spiced red and black fruits as well as notes of sandalwood, peppery garrigue, herbes de Provence, and some loamy, chalky minerality. Beautiful on the palate as well, with medium to full-bodied richness, it's balanced, has ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's going to keep for a decade." 2020 Château de L'Ou "Compartir" Cotes du Roussillon-Villages
Top Pick!
94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Based on Grenache, Carignan, and Syrah, the 2020 Côtes Du Roussillon Villages Compartir is another deep purple-hued release from this château revealing a great nose of both cassis and darker berry-like fruit as well as spice, peppery herbs, chalky mineral, and licorice. This big, rich, heady effort has full-bodied richness, a supple, layered texture, fabulous purity of fruit, and a great finish. " (05/2022) Jancis Robinson: "Chocolate and cherries. 2019 Château de L'Ou "Grenache Rhapsody" Cotes Catalanes Rouge
Top Pick!
95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2019 Côtes Catalanes Grenache Rhapsody, which was first made in 2017, is winemaker Séverine Bourrier's take on 100% Grenache from the Roussillon (it's released under the Côtes Catalane IGP). I compared the 2017 to a top Châteauneuf du Pape, and unquestionably, that comparison holds with the 2019 as well. It offers a monster bouquet of kirsch liqueur, herbes de Provence, peppered meats, charcuterie, and dried flowers that carries to a full-bodied Grenache with an expansive, layered, seamless texture, silky tannins, no hard edge...

A benchmark wine of the Languedoc, Grange des Pères has maintained cult status for decades. Pierre Rovani summed it up nicely back in 2004: "This estate’s wines are frightfully expensive and terribly hard to locate in the United States, selling out instantly upon arrival on our shores. Nevertheless, it is important for The Wine Advocate to report on them as doing so may inspire young winemakers in the Languedoc to follow in the footsteps of Laurent Vaille, the dedicated, highly talented winemaker of Domaine de la Grange des Pères."

2022 Jeff Carrel "Les Darons" Languedoc Rouge
Top Pick!
92-94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A much smaller production of all organically grown grapes, the 2022 Languedoc Les Darons (organic) (70% Grenache, 25% Syrah, and 5% Carignan) has similar red and blue fruits as well as peppery herb and garrigue-like nuances. It's medium to full-bodied, pure, and beautifully balanced, with plenty of ripe tannins and outstanding length." (08/2023) 92 points James Suckling: "A well-made red from old grenache with notes of cherries, blueberries, stones and black pepper. Medium body with fine, firm tannins. Textured and balanced w...

94 points Decanter: "Gorgeously fragrant, freshly picked strawberries layered with bundles of fresh rosemary, mint and lemon thyme. A mouthwatering wine with a real crunch on the finish, a beautiful texture and a finish laced with bitter chocolate. A real success. 95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Mostly Grenache Gris (past vintages have had a splash of Roussanne), the 2020 Côtes Catalanes Secret De Schistes Blanc is another brilliant white. Made in a richer, more concentrated style, it offers a great nose of white currants, orchard fruits, white flowers, chalky mineral, and green almond nuances in a medium to full-bodied, brilliantly textured, balanced white that brings both richness and freshness." I love its purity, balance, and texture, and it will easily keep for 7-8 years." (05/2022) Jancis Robinson: "Vibrant, intense, full of expressive fruit and cinnamon, liquorice and menthol. 2021 Chateau de L'Ou "Infiniment" Chardonnay Côtes Catalanes Blanc (Previously $25) (Previously $25)
Top Pick!
93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "I believe all Chardonnay, the 2021 Côtes Catalanes Infiniment De L'Ou Blanc reveals a medium gold hue as well as a rich, perfumed, medium-bodied style in its ripe orchard and tangerine-like fruits as well as honeyed flower, toasted bread, and spice-driven aromas and flavors. Impeccably balanced on the palate, it has medium to full-bodied richness, a kiss of salinity, and a good sense of freshness that builds with time in the glass. You don't see many Chardonnay from the Roussillon, but this is certainly one of the best." (05/2022)...

96 points The Wine Independent: "A blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Carignan, the 2017 Courier Rouge is medium to deep garnet in color. It needs considerable shaking to wake up notes of kirsch, raspberry coulis, redcurrant jelly, and mandarin peel, with wafts of candied violets, iris, garrigue, and crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate is lively and so, so soft with licorice-laced red and black fruits and a long earthy finish. 96+" (04/2023) 93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The same blend as the 2016, the 2017 Côtes Catalanes is more ethereal and perfume...

The Reserve d'O Blanc is a small one acre parcel on the domaine that is co-planted with Chenin Blanc, Roussanne and Grenache Blanc. The Chenin is not legally allowed in the Terrasses du Larzac appellation, so it is declassifed to the IGP Saint Guilhem le Desert. Another interesting thing about this parcel: it is co-harvested in one pass, pressed together and co-fermented. Elevage is in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness in the wine. Wildly unique and super cool wine. *Biodynamic, Natural Wine*

Jancis Robinson: "Certified organic (Ecocert). Ch de L'Ou's signature white wine. Grenache Noir, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne. Vinified in stainless steel. This is singing!
