2008 Billecart-Salmon "Cuvée Elisabeth" Brut Rosé Champagne
Top Pick!
98 points Decanter: "A superb vintage of this renowned prestige cuvée, this is made from a base of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, to which is added 9% of red wine. Despite ageing on its lees for 10 years, it remains almost shockingly youthful, its vividly primary flavours of red cherry, strawberry and nectarine wrapped up in a taut, tense frame. It’s silky in texture and intricately complex on the long, elegantly harmonious finish, underlined by a saline chalkiness, and it demonstrates all the requisite completeness and character for long ageing, pro...

2013 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
98 points James Suckling: "This is quite chalky with firm phenolics that frame the wine beautifully. It’s medium-to full-bodied with strawberries and earth. Dense, linear and intense. Hints of brioche and pie crust at the end. Very structured and gorgeous. Salty and lightly chewy. One third of the base wines fermented and aged in oak. Connoisseur Champagne. From organic vineyards of the Roederer domains. Smaller production than normal. Seven years on the lees. Give it two or three years to open." (07/2021) 97 points John Gilman: "The 2013 vintage of Cr...

2007 Billecart-Salmon "Cuvée Louis" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (Elsewhere $175) (Elsewhere $175)
Top Pick!
95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Disgorged in October 2018 with seven grams per liter dosage, the 2007 Brut Blanc de Blancs Cuvée Louis Salmon derives from the villages of Cramant, Chouilly and Mesnil-sur-Oger, and half of the vins clairs that went into the blend were vinified in older barrels. It's still tightly wound, even after over a year on cork, unfurling in the glass with a delicate bouquet of crisp yellow apple, Meyer lemon, blanched almonds, elderflower and crushed chalk. Medium to full-bodied, deep and searingly intense, it's seamless ...

2002 Billecart-Salmon "Cuvée Nicolas François Billecart" Brut Champagne (Previously $180) (Previously $180)
Top Pick!
98 points James Suckling: "Very impressive depth and detail here. The freshness is staggering. Citrus and grilled-hazelnut aromas lead to a palate that has a very concentrated, slightly creamy and taut feel. Super long and dense with lemon curd, white peaches and a toasty build to the finish. Superb!" (07/2018) 98 points Decanter: "Subtle nose of lemon-spiked raw pastry and a harmonious palate of incredible finesse. Scented and perfumed notes of lemon balm, shortbread and lemon zest fill the mind and senses. Utter elegance and happiness follows. (AK)" ...

2007 Billecart-Salmon "Cuvée Nicolas François Billecart" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
97 points James Suckling: "This is a laser-guided Champagne with fabulous energy and intensity with a tight palate, racy acidity and super fine phenolics. It goes on and on. Fine bubbles. Light pine and praline character. One for the cellar. " (12/2020) 97 points Vinous: "The 2007 Brut Cuvée Nicolas François Billecart is positively stellar. Elegant, polished and sophisticated, the 2007 dazzles with effusive aromatics and gorgeous balance. It's not an obvious wine, though, but rather a Champagne built for long, patient cellaring. The 2007 is 60% Pinot N...

97 points James Suckling: "A fantastic prestigious cuvée this year with a solid core of fruit that makes it so serious and structured. Like a grand cru Burgundy. Full body. Lightly chewy. Phenolic tension gives it form and beauty. This is the first year to use numbers. 55% chardonnay and 45% pinot noir. 2004, 2002 and 1999." (09/2019) 96 points Wine Enthusiast: "A grand wine, this is the 24th blend of Grand Siécle, the producer's top cuvée. With wonderful toastiness, the Champagne from grand cru vineyards is at a perfect moment of maturity. Almonds min...

2012 Veuve Clicquot "La Grande Dame - Yayoi Kusama Edition" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
96 points Decanter: "A generous golden colour betrays the dominance of Pinot Noir in the blend; this theme thereafter maintained by aromatics of fig, wild strawberries and Mirabelle plums; behind that, jasmine, red apples and a distant whiff of woodsmoke. Engaging already, in other words. One’s impressions are confirmed and amplified on the palate, with the aspiration voiced by both chef de caves Dominique and Didier, to allow the ‘cooler’ Pinot Noir sites full rein. This is eloquently evidenced by a subtle and deftly textured structure, the primary frui...

92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A trace of new wood sets off very fresh and elegant red berry fruit aromas cut with a distinct stoniness that give way to rich, refined and beautifully detailed medium weight flavors that possess fine mid-palate concentration and impeccable balance. A classic Latricières that displays just a touch of finishing austerity as well as the definite sense of underlying reserve. A great first vintage." (01/2010) 90-92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good medium red. Nose offers dark cherry, smoky oa...

2008 Piper-Heidsieck "Cuvée Rare" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
97 points Wine Spectator: "Like a stallion out of the gate, this shows an initial explosion of power, in the form of mouthwatering flavors and fine texture, before quickly settling into an elegant gait. The racy acidity is seamlessly knit, buoying the lacy mousse and flavors of cassis, toasted brioche and tangerine, with accents of candied ginger, hazelnut and fleur de sel lingering on the long, creamy finish. (AN)" (12/2020) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The newly released 2008 Brut Cuvée Rare is very promising, unwinding in the glass with...

Compass Box "Flaming Heart" Sixth Limited Edition Blended Malt Whisky (700ml)
Top Pick!
95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Inspired by a rock song by M. Ward, this is a blend of single malts, plus peated Islay whiskey. The original limited edition was released in 2006; this is the sixth release, debuting in the U.S. in September 2018. Overall, this is a soft sipper for those who love peat. Look for a straw hue and lightly smoky scent with a whiff of sea breeze. The velvety palate mingles peat smoke with lemon cream and vanilla, lingering into a gentle fade accented by black pepper. (KN)" (12/2019) 94 points Whisky Advocate: "Refined elegant smok...

97 points Decanter: "Now almost blanc de noirs, boasting 92% Pinot Noir and just 8% Chardonnay from 60%-70% estate vineyards. La Grande Dame is one of the most affordable of Champagne’s elite prestige set, and the stunning 2008 vintage was intricately engineered by the masterful Dominique Demarville for the long haul. It unites all of the enduring potential of its thundering grands crus with the tension and energy of this legendary season, colliding high-tensile acidity with deep, fine, powdery chalk minerality, bringing its finish into stark focus. (TS)...

96-100 points Wine Enthusiast: "First nosing passes pick up incredibly zesty and harmonious aromas of dill, fennel and pepper; another seven minutes sees the bouquet turn elegant, oaky and herbal. Palate entry is semisweet, with deft traces of caramel and vanilla; by midpalate the flavors include marzipan, hard candy, dried herbs, green pepper and vanilla. Finish is long, luxurious and stately." (06/2006)

2006 Piper-Heidsieck "Cuvée Rare" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The flagship release is the 2006 Champagne Rare, a 70/30 split of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that’s a cellar selection from 8 different Grand Cru vineyards. Tight, backward, and straight-up structured, it offers brilliant notes of stone fruits, toasted brioche, white flowers, and obvious minerality. Needing plenty of air to show at its best, this beauty has a wonderful mid-palate, a racy mousse, and the balance and class to cruise for over two decades in cool cellars. 97+" (11/2019) 96 points Wine Spectator: "Aromas and flavors o...

2014 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru Winery-Direct Release
New!
94-95 points John Gilman: "The Bonnes-Mares 2014 at Domaine de Comte de Vogüé comes in at a very svelte 12.4% alcohol, but delivers just lovely fruit sappiness to go along with stellar transparency. The nose delivers a lovely range of scents, with notes of damson plums, black cherries, raw cocoa, smoke, mustard seed, peonies, gentle notes of new wood and a beautifully refined range of soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very soil-driven, with plenty of sappiness in reserve at the core, ripe, beautifully-integrated tannins and a lo...

93 points Wine Spectator: "Dark, rich and extracted. Shows layers of ripe currant, blackberry, espresso-tinged oak and subtle nutmeg-hazelnut and cedary oak flavors that are still slightly raw and disjointed, but deeply concentrated. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. (JL)" (05/2008) K&L Notes: The Cuvée L from Lewis Cellars is a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Cabernet Franc. Oak spice, vanilla and blackberry fruit characterize this flagship wine's enigmatic nose. Black fruits coat the palate and ripe tannins that propel this bold wine. Onl...

99 points Decanter: "The first aromatic impression is surprisingly floral in the context of such a hot vintage, and then evolves to reveal elements of menthol, liquorice and yellow fruit. With aeration, the bouquet blossoms to reveal increasing complexity, including spicy notes. On the palate, this is a fleshy and densely textured Clos du Mesnil with a salty tang on the finish, one that stands out for its singularity, albeit in the context of a classic crystalline, tense purity. Bravo – a work of art! (YC)" (09/2020) 99 points James Suckling: "This is ...

Compass Box "Juveniles" Limited Edition Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Top Pick!
90 points Whisky Advocate: "A blend of four single malts for the latest incarnation, this has poached pear, sweet green apple, melon skins, light spices, barley sugar, and yet some crunchy barley notes too. Sweet vanilla fattens out to orange, peppercorn, honey, and barley sugar, with apple and herbal greenery appearing at the end. Hold for at least 30 seconds, then there’s spice at the swallow, and a waxy, mouth-coating finish of smooth-pulped fruits. (JM, Spring 2019)" K&L Notes: Compass Box's latest release is a celebration of Juveniles Bistrot a Vin...

96 points Wine Spectator: "Minerally on the nose, with accents of sea breeze and brine, transitions on the palate to a deep and finely-knit range of ripe nectarine and dried white cherry fruit, chopped almond and espresso crema, and hints of tangerine peel, saffron and ground cardamom. Fine and lacy in texture, this is sleek and mouthwatering through to the finish, where the salinity returns, echoing a lasting note. Disgorged July 2020. (AN)" (04/2021)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998 Moët & Chandon "Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne (97ST, 95WE, 94W&S, 93JG, 93JS, 92RP, 92VN, 91WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "The 1998 Dom Pérignon has an intense white-golden color and is beautifully clear and fine on the nose, which indicates a lovely maturity and displays grey bread, almond cake and iodine flavors, along with lemon and orange aromas. This clarity and mineral freshness proceeds on the highly elegant, finesse-full and silky textured palate, and the complexly flavored, very distinguished finish is dry and mineral, revealing a stimulating salinity and tension. The 1998 seems young still, but is certainly a great pleasure to drink and will be for many years. (SR)" (06/2016)

Bid on this 7-bottle lot of Lanson "Black Label" Brut Champagne (92DC, 91JG, 91WE, 91WS, 90RP, 90W&S). Decanter: "50% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 15% Meunier from 100 villages in all, and including 30% reserves from 10 vintages back to 1995; a small proportion now being produced with malolactic. Black Label remains the confident barometer of Lanson, and Hervé Dantan’s first blend is a class act, a resounding statement of his talent in preserving the style and integrity of the house while meticulously polishing the edges. It’s a very important cuvée in the grand scheme of Champagne: one of the best and most consistent of the bargain set. (TS)" (08/2020)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of Bollinger "PN VZ15" Brut Champagne (94VN). Vinous: "A fabulous Champagne, the NV PN VZ 15 is a new wine from Bollinger and the first addition to the range in over a decade. As the name implies, it is a 100% Pinot Noir built on a core of fruit from Verzenay and based on the 2015 vintage....Bright and vibrant on the palate, the PN VZ 15 captures all of the Pinot richness that is such a Bollinger signature but with the freshness and verve that make Pinots from Verzenay so distinctive. Rich red fruit, mint, dried flower and spice notes play off bright acids and veins of saline-drenched minerals in a display of aromas, flavors and textures that dazzle all the senses. Think of it as a baby VVF, but with the tension of Verzenay. (AG)" (08/2020)

Bid on this bottle of 2002 Pol Roger "Extra Cuvée de Réserve" Brut Champagne (96WE, 93RP, 93ST). Wine Enthusiast: "The most recent vintage release from Pol Roger is this superb 2002. Notes of apple, almond, citrus and a hint of toast mingle together effortlessly. It can be consumed now, especially with food, but its mixture of maturity and freshness promise to age beautifully for many years to come. *Cellar Selection* (RV)" (12/2012)

Bid on this bottle of 1982 Taittinger "Comtes de Champagne" Brut Rosé Champagne. This wine is the estate's top cuvée named in honor of Count Thibaud IV, King of Navarre who ruled from 1222 to 1253, and whose seal adorns every bottle of Taittinger. Generally 70% Pinot Noir from Montagne de Reims and 30% Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs, the fruit is 100% grand cru. William Kelly for Wine Advocate notes, "Comtes is one of the most reliably age-worthy wines in Champagne, yet it continues to represent terrific value when compared to—frequently inferior—tête de cuvée bottlings from other Grandes Marques."
Starting Bid: $375.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2002 Dom Pérignon Brut Rosé Champagne (98RP, 98VN, 97DC, 95ST, 92CG). Vinous: "The 2002 Dom Pérignon Rosé is a tremendous example of this vintage at its very best. A Champagne of vertical thrust and intensity, the 2002 is rich, opulent and hedonistic from the very first taste. Readers should expect a Rosé built on a huge core of fruit. Rose petal, passion fruit and exotic flowers add shades of dimension to the wine’s decidedly flamboyant personality. What a wine! (AG)" (07/2019)
Starting Bid: $840.00

Bid on this bottle of 2006 Moët & Chandon "Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne (97JS, 96JD, 96RP, 96VN, 95WS, 94JG, 93DC). James Suckling: "This is very lively and vibrant with a dense and rich center palate. Lots of complexity and balance with pastry, sliced lemon and light dried mango. Full yet racy and intense. A beautiful center palate. Linear. Shows potential for aging but so good right now." (12/2016)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne (98JD, 98JS, 98VN, 96DC, 96JG, 96WS, 95RP). Vinous: "The 2008 Dom Pérignon is once again stunning. More than anything else, I am surprised by how well the 2008 drinks given all the tension and energy it holds. Then again, that is precisely what makes 2008 such a unique vintage – namely that the best wines are so chiseled and yet not at all austere. Lemon peel, almond, mint, smoke and crushed rocks are all finely sculpted, but it is the wine’s textural feel, drive and persistence that elevate it into the realm of the sublime. The 2008 will be even better with time in the cellar, but it is absolutely phenomenal even today, in the early going. Three recent bottles have all been nothing short of magnificent. (AG)" (07/2019)

Bid on this bottle of 1990 Moët & Chandon "Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne (99JS, 96RP, 93VN). James Suckling: "This is really incredible with orange peel, dried pineapple and flan. Exotic. Full body, round and savory. Crazy character at the finish of cooked pineapple and tart tartine. Gorgeous; can't believe it. " (02/2017)
Starting Bid: $357.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Gosset "Grand Millesime" Brut Champagne.
Starting Bid: $160.00

Bid on this bottle of 1979 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Champagne (99VN, 97RP, 94JG). Vinous: "This vertical of 1970s Cristals opens with the 1979, a Champagne I have been fortunate to taste and drink on several occasions. When the 1979 is on, it is an astonishingly beautiful wine, as it is on this evening. A rush of aromatics makes a strong first impression. Vivid and totally arresting, the 1979 possesses remarkable depth and sheer vinosity. Hints of caramel, orange peel, spice and cinnamon give the wine a decidedly exotic flair. Over the last few years, the 1979 has lost a bit of the freshness it showed as recently as a few years ago, but it is nevertheless a stunning bottle. (AG)" (06/2017)
Starting Bid: $655.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2002 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne (98VN, 97DC, 96RP, 96W&S, 95WS). Vinous: "The 2002 Dom Pérignon is unforgettable. Rich, sumptuous and flamboyant to the core, the 2002 captures all of the radiance of a year in which ripeness in the Chardonnays was pushed to the edge. The 2002 is oily and viscous on the palate, with tremendous textural resonance in all of its dimensions. Tropical fruit, pastry and exotic floral notes all build as the 2002 opens up with air. I can still remember the first time I tasted the 2002, here in the Hautvillers cloister, with former Chef de Caves Richard Geoffroy. It was thrilling back then, and is every bit as memorable today. (AG)" (07/2019)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2016 Ultramarine "Heintz Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Rosé Sparkling Wine. One of the most exciting wine projects in California today happens to be an upstart garagiste with an obsession for redefining sparkling wine in America. Michael Cruse operates from a small industrial park in Petaluma just off the bustling Highway 101 corridor. After a brief career in molecular and cell biology laboratories, Cruse worked his first harvest in 2006. After learning about the meticulous, labor-intensive process of producing artisanal grower Champagne, he became convinced that if winemakers applied the same approach to sparkling wine in California, the results could be game-changing. Cruse now stands at the forefront of a burgeoning movement making incredibly beautiful sparkling single-vineyard wines from some of Sonoma's most acclaimed vineyard sites.
Starting Bid: $510.00

Bid on this bottle of 1982 Perrier-Jouët "Fleur de Champagne Belle Epoque" Brut Champagne (97DC). Decanter: "There is vanillin and generous ripe fruit, still almost primary such is its purity, but then more evolved notes, with blond tobacco, soft leather, heather honey and walnuts all finely knit together. A radiance pervades, which is hard to forget. (SF)" (03/2020)

Bid on this bottle of 1988 Moët & Chandon "Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne (94VN, 93RP, 93WS, 92JG). Vinous: "An unexpected treat, the 1988 Dom Pérignon is a fabulous surprise. Here the flavors are bright, focused and tense, with attractive floral and citrus notes that cut through the richness of the chilled lobster appetizer. (AG)" (03/2014)
Starting Bid: $335.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1982 Moët & Chandon "Dom Pérignon" Brut Rosé Champagne (96JG, 95RP, 93VN, 92WS). John Gilman: "The ’82 Dom Rosé is still a tad on the young side in magnum, but is still sufficiently open to show all of its impressive constituent components. The bouquet is deep, almost Gevrey-Chambertin-like in its expression of pinot noir fruit tones, as it offers up notes of strawberry, cherry, a bit of cranberry, plenty of minerality, dried roses and a faint touch of bread dough. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, laser-like in its focus and stunning, with a rock solid core of fruit, bright, orange-like acidity, and lovely soil inflection on the long, crisp and powerful finish. Very fine juice. " (05/2006)
