2008 Philippe Gonet "Cuvée Belemnita" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
This wine comes from one plot of Chardonnay in the world-famous village of Mesnil, a plot planted by the great-grandfather of Chantal and Pierre Gonet (the current proprietors) back in 1929. The vines go deep into the Belemnita soil that gives this cuvée its name. This is the best chalk in all of Champagne, full of fossilized shellfish, many of which are now extinct, but so common in Mesnil that you can fill your pockets with them after a short tour of the vineyard. Cuvée Belemnita is the product of a single press load. Only 2,700 bottles were made, and ...

The Ariston's vineyards are vastly different than those of the other blanc de blancs producers that we carry. The steeper slopes, less chalk and more fossils in the soil of Brouillet make for a rich, creamy style of Chardonnay Champagne that will appeal to just about anyone. This is one of my favorite toasting Champagnes. All of the flavors are up-front; it is open-knit and fun. It is a perfect way to start a party. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)

Damien Hugot is a 25th generation grower, with 20 acres of estate vineyards, mostly in the Grand Crus of Cramant and Chouilly. The Grand Cru blanc de blancs is composed entirely of Chouilly and Cramant, and mostly from old massal selected vines. This wine, which is 100% Chardonnay, has incredible richness and great toastiness for a blanc de blancs. We are very proud to import these wines directly, and offer them at such good prices. If you are looking for a bottle of Champagne that has both toast and the classy chalk of the best vineyards for Chardonnay,...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "A high (60%) amount of older Reserve Champagne has gone into this mature blend. It offers richness and a ripe structure that brings out the rounded white fruits. (RV)" (12/2019) K&L Notes: This blend of 60% Meunier, 30% Pinot Noir, and 10% Chardonnay comes from exclusively estate-grown fruit in the premier crus of Chigny-les-Roses, Sacy, Rilly-la-Montagne, and Ludes. It's a fantastic aperitif and has surprising richness and concentration at the price.

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Lively citrus flavors are nicely tempered by almond and bread-dough nuances in this elegant, well-balanced and rich-tasting wine. It offers more than fresh fruit, adding aged-on-the-lees complexity for a very tempting expression. (JG)" (11/2020) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Lithe and delicately balanced, with vibrant lemon custard, blanched almond and steely citrus tones that take on richness and speed on the long finish. (TF)" (11/2020) 91 points Connoisseurs Guide: "With very good reason, we have high expectations when Sch...

99 points Wine Enthusiast: "This legendary Champagne, only produced in exceptional years, comes from the village of Le Mesnil in the Côte des Blancs. It is made from 100% Chardonnay and aged for many years before release. Its minerality, concentration and beautiful fruit are still astonishingly young and deserve further aging. *Cellar Selection* (RV)" (12/2018) 98 points Decanter: "A year marked by frequent changes in weather, ranging from sunny conditions in June and July, a cool August and then a return to sunny weather in September. The vintage bene...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Produced from the grapes grown in the Côte des Blancs, this beautiful Champagne is crisp and mineral, with a great texture and acidity. It has elegance and style as well. (RV)" (12/2020) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Rapierlike acidity defines this lip-smacking version, with rich notes of grilled nut, melon and apricot fruit, grated ginger and lemon curd gaining momentum. It's sleek and racy, with a lively mousse and a long, mineral-tinged finish. (AN)" (12/2020) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Based on the 2014 vin...

Pierre Péters "Cuvée de Réserve" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Back In Stock!
95 points Wine & Spirits: "Sunny and brisk, this wine describes chalk-rich Champagne from the Côte des Blancs. Based on the 2017 harvest, the blend includes more than 40 percent from a perpetual reserve, with vintages going back to 1988, all Chardonnay from the family’s parcels in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Cramant, Avize and Oger. The wine’s ornate intensity includes scents of spring blossoms, oyster mushrooms, celery leaf and the nuttiness of long-aged Comté. " (12/2020) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Sleek and mouthwatering, with a fine, satiny mousse and a fr...

93 points Wine Spectator: "A classy Champagne, with a lovely, viscous creaminess on the palate, carrying finely detailed flavors of peach skin, spring blossom, steeped raspberry and slivered almond. Long and mouthwatering, with a well-spiced finish. (AN)" (12/2020) 91 points Vinous: "The NV Grand Cellier (2015 base) is pure class. Creamy and exquisitely layered, the Grand Cellier remains light on its feet and vibrant. Orchard fruit, spice, pastry crust and white flowers build nicely in the glass in a Champagne of exquisite balance. This release is base...

A particularly rare California sparkling wine produced by Don Baumhefner who had been inspired by late disgorged Bollinger to let his wines rest "en tirage" for years. The San Francisco Chronicle's Esther Mobley fell in love with Baumhefner's 1992 and was excited to report in December 2017 that he had released another wine he discovered in Lake County that had come from a vineyard in Carneros. Mobley writes: "The 2010 Blanc de Blancs smells heady, wafting sweet bread dough. It’s rich, nutty and creamy, and more direct than Baumhefner’s 1990 and 1992 vint...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This inaugural release is stunning and incredibly impressive - a wine well worth stocking up on for the price and quality. A beautiful jasmine aroma leads to marzipan, peach and cherry flavors as lively acidity envelopes the palate. It's a blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir. *Ranked #5, Top 100 Cellar Selections of 2020, Editors' Choice* (VB)" (08/2020) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Creamy and vibrant, with apple and snappy strawberry flavors that offer a dash of brioche on the finish. 2012 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Chablis (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
New!
91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Menthol and lemon on the nose. Dry, saline and serious in the mouth, with a point of austerity to the incisive flavors of citrus peel, minerals and jasmine. Finishes with terrific lemon-limey cut and noteworthy length. These vines are planted "across from La Forest," noted Dauvissat, but are considerably younger: 20 to 25 years of age vs. 50+. A superb village wine. (ST)" (08/2014) 90 points Vinous: "The 2012 Chablis stands out for its density, depth and balance. Far from an easygoing Chablis, the ...

92 points James Suckling: " Some bread dough and pie crust to the lightly cooked apples and hints of pear skins. It’s full-bodied with a round texture and a flavorful finish. Consistently delicious." (07/2020) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Packaged in a transparent bottle and an easily recognized yellow-gold label, the NV Franciacorta Cuvée Prestige Brut is a blend of 75% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Bianco and 15% Pinot Nero. This is among Ca' del Bosco's most affordable and accessible sparkling wines. It offers steady consistency year after year...

Decanter: "Peach blossom alongside hints of tropical fruits. Assertive mousse. Attractive but not complex." (06/2019) James Suckling: "This has neat pastry and citrusy aromas with bright peaches. A smooth, fruit palate with peaches and melons. " (02/2018)

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Based half-each on vintages 2010 and 2009, and with 10% Pinot Noir 'smuggled in,' Agrapart’s NV Brut Blanc De Blancs 7 Crus E13 – named for the seven Cote des Blancs villages from which it is sourced, and in this instance disgorged in May, 2013 – displays uncommon delicacy, buoyancy, tension and nuance for an 'intro-level' cuvee, and that uncannily combined with a sense of richness and purity to its white peach and grapefruit. Almond and pistachio cream lend allure; chalk and salt along with piquancy of peach ker...

This Champagne is 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Meunier, and 10% Chardonnay. It has a great, open nose of sweet butter and even a touch of orange peel. On the palate it is clean and refreshing. This is a bright, easygoing Champagne for any party! (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)

99 points Decanter: "The first aromatic impression is surprisingly floral in the context of such a hot vintage, and then evolves to reveal elements of menthol, liquorice and yellow fruit. With aeration, the bouquet blossoms to reveal increasing complexity, including spicy notes. On the palate, this is a fleshy and densely textured Clos du Mesnil with a salty tang on the finish, one that stands out for its singularity, albeit in the context of a classic crystalline, tense purity. Bravo – a work of art! 100% Chardonnay, disgorged at the end of 2019. Dosage...

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of Guillaume Selosse "Au Dessus Gros Mont" Extra Brut Champagne (93JG). John Gilman: "This bottling of non-vintage Blanc de Blancs from Guillaume Selosse hails from the lieu à dit of 'Au Dessus du Gros Mont' in the village of Cramant. The vines for this bottling are seventy years of age and it was disgorged in July of 2015, with a finishing dosage of 1.5 grams per liter. This is the inaugural release of the wine, which is from the base year of 2009, with a reserve of 2008 blended in. The wine is excellent and showing quite mature at the present time, offering up a complex nose of baked apple, walnuts, a fine base of chalky minerality, just a touch of buttery oak and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and quite classy in profile, with a fine core, excellent mineral drive, elegant mousse and a long, complex and zesty finish. This is drinking with great style now, but still has plenty of life ahead of it." (07/2019)
