Jeb Dunnuck: "Bright citrus, lemon curd, and some honeysuckle notes emerge from the 2018 Sauvignon Blanc, which is medium-bodied, supple, and straightforward." (01/2020) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc is a little youthfully closed to begin, revealing with coaxing fragrant lime blossom, yuzu and grapefruit scents plus hints of wet pebbles and mown grass. Medium-bodied, the palate has plenty of citrusy zest on offer with a racy backbone and chalky finish. (LPB)" (11/2019)

Possibly the sexiest Nigori we have ever tasted. You don't usually see Nigori at a Daiginjo level! This is sleek and delightfully light. There is a touch of zippy acidity, which helps lift the sweetness of the rice. Great fruity notes and a very clean style for a creamy sake.

In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is an interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth-filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth. 7.0%ABV / 1.068 O.G / 25 BUs

100 points Vinous: "It is an ethereal wine that gives me no choice but to use a simple word loaded with meaning and one I rarely use with respect to wine...perfection. The 375ml bottle was examined over the course of two weeks during which time it barely changed. Each time I put it under a microscope looking for a fault. I never found one. Golden in colour, it has an intoxicating bouquet with orange sorbet, quince, lemon verbena and a very slight Aszú-like note that hovers in the background. Having recently tasted plenty of Sauternes, I can’t help notici...

"Our interpretation of a traditional Belgian wheat beer, Allagash White is unique and truly refreshing. Brewed with a generous portion of wheat and our own special blend of spices, this beer is light and slightly cloudy in appearance, with a spicy aroma. Overall, it is a beer that is very drinkable and smooth any time of the year. Pair with a salad with vinaigrette dressing or a fresh goat cheese. Excellent accompaniment to poultry and fish entrees or a dessert such as a spicy apple pie."

The Asahi Shuzo brewery took a gamble when it restructured to focus solely on Junmai Daiginjo sake, but the gamble paid off and brought us this delightful sake. Thanks to them you can now try high quality sake at a reasonable price. Dassai “45” is the better version of the popular Dassai “50” which was known for its premium quality worldwide. With engaging flavors and easy pair-ability its no wonder that this sake is popular everywhere. Drink this floral daiginjo cold with sashimi, crudites, and pickles. Bring Dassai 45 to a dinner or housewarming part...

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV Pedro Ximenez Solera 1927 is non-vintage, but does have some 1927 material in it. This is totally dark brown/amber with notes of figs, toffee, caramel syrup, molasses and coffee. It is dense, super sweet, intense, rich and an amazingly, unctuously textured, thick beverage to consume slowly and introspectively after a meal. Drink now through 2050, or even longer. (RP)" (11/2015) 96 points Wine Enthusiast: "One of the world's best PX wines is Solera 1927, the pride of Alvear. Whatever solera stocks went in...

From the brewery: "Although we have made this beer once before, it was only available on our guided tour and for special events. The base beer is a Pilsner aged in Sauvignon Blanc barrels with the addition of Sauvignon Blanc grape juice from the 2018 harvest for a secondary fermentation. The juice and barrels are from Dutton Vineyards in the Russian River wine appellation here in Sonoma County. There is no lactobacillus or pediococcus added to the beer, only brettanomyces. The tart acidity comes from the wine grapes. This beer is delicate and beauti...

Junmai Ginjo is the second-highest grade of sake, the rice-based alcoholic beverage that has become a strong symbol of Japanese culture. To qualify for this prestigious title a sake must be made with rice polished (to remove bran and improve taste) to below 60 percent of its original weight, and must not be fortified with distilled alcohol. Producer Note: "This is a light and comfortably dry premium Sake with the aroma of fresh cantaloupe and banana followed by medium body bringing refreshing Mandarin orange like overtones. With just the right amount of...

The story of Monkey 47 gin is romantic: in 1951, a British man named Montgomery Collins moved to Germany's Black Forest and opened a guesthouse named "Zum wilden Affen"--the wild monkey. Now considered a renowned gin drinker, Collins's taste for the spirit was unknown until renovation work at the country guesthouse led to the discovery of a weighty old wooden box containing a bottle and a letter. The dusty bottle had been labeled and decorated by hand, showing a sketch of a monkey and the words "Max the Monkey--Schwarzwald Dry Gin." The accompanying lett...

From the winery: "A family estate for five generations, we still have one bottle of 1847 Muscat that demonstrates just how old it is. We started making wine at the beginning of the 19th Century at Domaine des Bernardins. The property was previously owned by Bernardin monks before being transformed into a wine estate. Mr Louis Castaud was the first one to show real concern about how the village's traditional production had almost disappeared and achieved appellation status for Muscat de Beaumes de Venise in 1945 after 10 years of hard work. His family wer...

Leave it to the folks at Bittermens to devise a way to get a little hot pepper kick into your favorite cocktail. They figured, wisely, that most hot sauces are made by blending peppers with vinegar and other spices, and that the classic cocktail foundation, the vinegar-based shrub, would be the perfect vehicle to get extra that habenero spice in a cocktail-friendly fashion. Fortified with alcohol to better emphasize the habenero flavor, a couple of drops will kick up the complexity, and heat, in your Bloody Mary, or make for a fiery Old Fashioned like th...

Made to the same set of recipes since 1821, Dolin Vermouth de Chambéry has long been the benchmark for fine French Vermouth. Made with fine wines of the region and botanicals found in the alpine meadows above Chambéry, together they impart a fresh and elegant nose, with a subtle and complex palate. Ideal as an aperitif or in cocktails. In the late 19th century, Dolin Vermouth de Chambéry won medals in Paris, London, St. Louis and Philadelphia and in 1932 earned Chambéry France's only Appellation d’ Origine for Vermouth.

Wine Spectator: "Shows a light piney hint before bright chamomile and honeysuckle aromas fill in. Rather nervy through the palate, featuring a finish of green almond and fennel notes. (Web-2014)" K&L Notes: A wonderful expression of Manzanilla, the La Cigarrera always comes to us very fresh, expressing the briny, sea air quality for which these wines are known. It is bone dry, appley and has suggestions of loquat fruit and pits, with terrific complexity, no doubt due to the bodega's prime location in the "barrio bajo" section of Sanlucar, as well as its...

Not all Hard Spritzers / Seltzers are created equal! The meteoric rise of Hard Seltzer in the past few years has had the biggest breweries in the world and multinational beverage corporations rushing any number of products to market to try and capture a piece of the action. The problem is the vast majority of these products are…well, in a word…disgusting. So, with everyone panicking about this “new” genre of alcoholic beverages and scrambling to put out products made with low quality base ingredients…I wondered, there has to be some people making good on...

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "One of the most iconic Trappist beers, this pours a gorgeous golden-orange color, with a large, frothy off-white head that lingers. Bottled with brettanomyces, you can immediately pick up on the wonderfully complex, dry, funky earth and barnyard notes, with additional aromas of orange peel, green apple, gingered white tea, yeasty spice and freshly baked bread. The medium-bodied mouthfeel boasts bright, fizzy carbonation and refreshing acidity, making the palate seem light and approachable. It finishes dry and spicy, with flavo...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "A good, firm mouthfeel and focused, fresh black-fruit flavors help this medium- to full-bodied wine stand out from the pack. Modestly priced for an estate-bottled wine, it has lip-smacking black-cherry and black-tea notes that are lifted by light tannins and good acidity. *Editors' Choice* (JG)" (12/2020) Wine Spectator: "Zesty cherry and wild berry flavors are backed by bright acidity, with savory notes on the finish that show flinty accents. 2005 Coutet, Sauternes (375ml)
Back In Stock!
94 points Wine Enthusiast: "*#10 in Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 Wines of 2008* Surprisingly dry, this has richness rather than sweetness, and intense, powerful botrytis. The honey is intensely perfumed, along with baked apples and spice. Certainly a long-aging wine. (RV) " (06/2008) 92 points Connoisseurs Guide: "It is not unusual for late harvest wines to have a bit of a sharp, kerosene edge to their lush personalities, although that characteristic is more often associated with the sweet wines of Germany than it is with those of Sauternes. Yet there, i...

For any bar to be complete there must be a bottle of Peychaud's Bitters. Necessary in all of the most sophisticated cocktails, Peychaud's enhances the taste of whatever you're sipping. 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1967 Colheita Tawny Port comes in with 142 grams per liter of residual sugar. This is a nice step up compared to the younger parts of the lineup, elegant and focused, with a precise finish, a fresh feel, little discernible brandy and a long, long finish. The classic old tawny flavors of molasses and caramel wash over the palate. This isn't big and thick, but some may very well prefer its elegant and brighter feel. In many ways, it is fresher than the 1981 or 1999 reviewed this issue, and it is better balanced...

Nestled in the village of Verdigny, Domain Tabordet is run by brothers Yvon and Pascal Tabordet, who took the reins back in 1981. When the two brothers first took over the estate it consisted of three hectares (7.4 acres) in Sancerre. By 1988 they had added another 4.5 hectares of Sancerre and also added 12 hectares (29.7 acres) in neighboring Pouilly-Fumé, just across the Loire River. Wine growing in Pouilly-Fumé dates back to the fifth century when the Romans dominated the area. In 1937, it became an official Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) of Fr...
