99 points James Suckling: "Extremely perfumed and floral with lavender, lilacs and violets to the sweet, ripe berries, such as blackberries and blackcurrants. Some slate and graphite, too. It’s full-bodied, yet ever so balanced and refined, with super fine tannins that last for minutes. Fresh herbs, such as bay leaf and lemon grass highlight the dark fruit. The quality of tannin is exquisite with wonderful polish and refinement. Lasts for minutes. So wonderful to taste now, but better after 2026." (08/2021) 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Ver...

98 points Vinous: "One of the highlights in this tasting, the 2016 Monte Bello has turned out just as beautifully as I hoped it would. Soaring aromatics, bright acids and mid-weight structure give the 2016 a super-classic feel. Clearly, the 2016 is very primary today, with plenty of bright red and purplish berry fruit. More than that, though, the 2016 pulses with energy and simply exceptional balance. Don't miss it! (AG)" (10/2019) 97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Bello offers a more streamlined, elegant, and ultra-classic styl...

92 points Wine Spectator: "A rich, showy style, with a very creamy texture to its mix of warmed vanilla, plum and boysenberry puree, and melted black licorice flavors. A mocha notes swirls around the fruit on the finish. (JM)" (06/2021) K&L Notes: There's no wine like Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon, and the 2019 vintage shows in spades what this brand is all about. Luxurious opulence on an unrivaled scale defines this wine year in and year out. Dark, super-ripe fruit lays over sleek, rich texture with additional complexity coming in form of cola, Chinese fi...

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux tasting. The 2012 Potensac surpassed my expectations from barrel, because as I stated back then, it has developed more flesh to counterbalance those prenatal hard tannins. It has an attractive if unspectacular raspberry, strawberry and tobacco-scented bouquet, quite closed at first, opaque, but opening with several minutes in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe blackberry fruit laced with tobacco and sea salt. I appreciate the finish here. There is satisf...

1991 Alembix Napa Valley Cabernet/Merlot Grappa de Venus (375ml)
Top Pick!
Coming from the Narsai David Estates in Napa, these 21 year old brandies were nearly never made. When Narsai (founder of the legendary Narsai’s Restaurant in Kensington, CA) was establishing his vineyard decades ago he was saddened at the thought of dropping the first crop of beautiful fruit and letting it compost in the field as is custom. While the very young vines weren’t up to snuff for producing fine Napa wines, the early “harvest” of Cabernet and Merlot were ultra-high in acid and absolutely perfect for distillation. Narsai took the fruit to Jorg R...

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is blended of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot and was bottled in August 2018. Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts out of the glass with exotic spice notes of star anise, fenugreek and cumin seed over a core of blackberry pie, wild blueberries and warm cassis with hints of kirsch, cigar box and mocha plus a waft of smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with vibrant black, blue and red fruits plus tons of spicy sparks, framed by wo...

94 points James Suckling: "A beautiful, fresh red with blackberry, blueberry and some chocolate. Pine, light toffee and coffee undertones. Dried herbs, too. Medium to full body with intensity and richness. Dusty tannins. Savory finish." (03/2021) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Intense aromas of blackberry and cassis meet with smoked meats, strong oak and light herbs on the toasty, layered nose of this bottling, which includes 21% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. Chipped wood flavors decorate the dark-fruit and roasted herb core of the palate. (MK)" (10/2021) ...

93 points Decanter: "Leading with 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Merlot, sourced from Rutherford, Oak Knoll, Napa Valley, Calistoga and Oakville, then aged 16 months in 50% new French oak, this is a classic, quintessential Napa Cabernet. Flashy, brambly blackberry, black olive, plums and cassis aromas continue on the chewy palate, along with pencil shavings, tobacco, chocolate and vanilla. Supple mouthfeel with a dusty tannin backbone and excellent balance between sweet and savoury flavours. A lovely vintage of this wine to enjoy now and over the next de...

95 points Vinous: "A dense, succulent wine, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon captures all the raw power and density of the year. The 2015 is just starting to soften, but ideally it needs another few years in bottle to be at its finest. Readers should expect an especially opulent style, and yet the 2015 has more than enough depth to drink well for another 15+ years or more. (AG)" (09/2018) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This bottling reflects the past several years' fine-tuning the winery's vision in the vineyard and in the cellar. Including small amounts of Ca...

96-97 points James Suckling: "The complexity and depth is fantastic in this beautifully crafted, refined red. Such poise, finesse and length. Yet dense and very compacted. Love the texture precision. Goes on and on. Best ever?" (05/2020) 93-95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Véronique Dausse continues to lift the quality at this estate. Her 2019 Château Phelan Segur reveals a dense purple color as well as a rich, full-bodied, powerful style on both the nose and palate. Loads of chocolaty dark fruits, roasted herbs, licorice, and graphite all emerge from the glass...

94 points James Suckling: "Very attractive aromas of blackcurrants, black olives and dark leather with some cedar. It’s full-bodied with firm, silky tannins and a refined, polished finish. Shows finesse and focus. Grows on the palate. Really delicious now, but will improve with age. Drink or hold." (11/2020) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Blended with Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, this full-bodied, highly expressive red is made from Coombsville estate grapes as well as grapes from sites in Rutherford and Oakville. It presents concentrated, burl...

Bid on this 1-half-bottle lot of 2009 Maybach Materium Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (375ml) (95RP, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Materium from the Weitz Vineyard reveals lots of minerality along with sweet red and black currants, licorice, graphite and spring flowers. Deep and full-bodied, it is displaying a lot of tannin in addition to a reserved, backward, brooding style. Everything is there for super enjoyment and high quality, but patience is required. (RP) 95+ (10/2013)
Starting Bid: $165.00

Bid on this 3-half-bottle lot of 2011 Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (375ml) (96W&S, (93-95RP), 94JS, 94VN, 92WS). Wine & Spirits: The cool 2011 season turned out a pristine vintage of Monte Bello, made from cabernet (88 percent) grown on a limestone-inflected ridge high above Silicon Valley, blended with some merlot and cabernet franc. The team at Ridge let the fruit recover for two weeks following an early October storm before picking, and were more aggressive in their extraction than normal, drawing as much color and structure as possible from the delicate fruit. (04/2015)

Bid on this 2-half-bottle lot of 2014 Maybach Family Materium Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (375ml) (100JD, 100RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: The flagship, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Materium, represents 560 cases and achieved 14.8% alcohol after aging in 90% new Taransaud and Darnajou casks. Remarkably, the wine matches the perfect 2013, with extraordinary fragrance of blueberry, blackberry, forest floor, truffle, spring flowers and background barbecue smoke followed by a thick, unctuously textured, juicy, but incredibly well-balanced, intense wine. This is built like a skyscraper with enormous quantities of blueberry, blackberry and cassis fruit, well-integrated acidity and sweet, gentle tannins. This is an extraordinary effort from Maybach that can be drunk now or cellared for up to 30 or more years. (RP) (10/2016)
Starting Bid: $260.00

Bid on this 1-half-bottle lot of 2015 Maybach Materium Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (375ml) (100JD, 97RP). Jeb Dunnuck: One of the greatest wines in the vintage is the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Materium which is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a higher elevation hillside vineyard in Oakville that was raised in 90% new French oak barrels. Just magical stuff that has incredible aromatics of crème de cassis, white flowers, huge minerality, violets, and scorched earth. This is followed by a massive, opulent, yet weightless wine that has off the charts purity of fruit, fine, fine tannin, perfect balance, and a finish that won’t quit. (12/2017)
