2009 Buty (Connor Lee - Champoux Vineyards) Columbia Valley Merlot - Cabernet Franc (1.5L)
New!
92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Merlot (64%) – Cabernet Franc (36%) offers up a pleasing perfume of dried herbs and spices, incense, creme de cassis, and blackberry. This leads to a medium-bodied, savory, structured wine with excellent balance and length. It will benefit from 2-3 years of additional cellaring and drink well through 2023. Caleb Foster, the vigneron responsible for Buty, is on top of his game as these wines demonstrate. (JM)" (08/2011) K&L Notes: 64% Merlot (Connor Lee) & 36% Cabernet Franc (Champoux)

2009 Buty "Columbia Rediviva - Phinny Hill Vineyard" Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon - Syrah (1.5L) (Previously $50+) (Previously $50+)
New!
94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Supple and sturdy, this beautifully structured blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Syrah, which uses fruit sourced from the estate vineyard, utilizes the best assets of both grapes. The Cabernet gives it both firmness and depth, while the Syrah pipes in vivid, juicy, berry flavors. Still young and primary, the best is clearly yet to come." (02/2013) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Rich and round, with focused, smoky, tangy blackberry and tamarind flavors that sluice through refined tannins on the fine-grained finish." (10/201...

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is still very fresh with almost no secondary development on the nose and revealing ripe cherry, earth and game aromas followed by exuberant, rich, sweet and persistent flavors. While this is not particularly dense, the precision and minerality make for aA delicious effort that possesses none of the shortcomings of the '97 vintage. " (02/2004)

2007 Malescasse, Haut-Médoc (1.5L)
Top Pick!
Château Malescasse is an historic property ideally situated on gravel soils close to the Gironde River just north of Margaux. While it is true that 2007 will never have the power or authority of the finest vintages of the decade, the best wines display a remarkable ripeness and an admirable richness of texture. These are medium to full-bodied reds with soft tannins that will make great near to medium-term drinking. They are priced appropriately and many, like this 2007 Malescasse, offer exceptional value.

2009 Buty "Rediviva of the Stones" Walla Walla Valley Syrah - Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (Previously $100+) (Previously $100+)
New!
93 points Wine & Spirits: "Walla Walla’s famous rocks show through in this blend of three-quarters syrah and one-quarter cabernet, coming through in a lively meaty scent to go with a grounding of cedar and plum. The flavors are dense, savory and vinous, finishing with a note of fennel. " (10/2012) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Broad and velvety, filled out nicely with rich blueberry, licorice and black olive flavors that push against refined tannins on the fresh, open-weave finish." (11/2012) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Sharp and herbal, this new Redivi...

2007 Buty "Columbia Rediviva - Phinny Hill Vineyard" Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon - Syrah (1.5L)
New!
96 points Wine Enthusiast: "From the winery’s Phinny Hill vineyard, the Columbia Rediviva is 48% Cabernet Sauvignon and 52% Syrah. Complex and satiny, it’s a riveting wine, inky and bursting with a sensuous mix of berry, cassis, mocha, loam, cinnamon and spice. Tremendous density and depth; despite its youth the wine curls around the tongue like thick smoke, showing more and more detail. *Cellar Selection*" (05/2011) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Polished, round and complex, this is distinctive and generous with its dark berry, chocolate and pomegranate f...

2006 Buty "Columbia Rediviva - Phinny Hill Vineyard" Horse Heaven Hills Red Blend (1.5L) (Previously $100+) (Previously $100+)
New!
96 points Wine Enthusiast: "This first estate-grown bottling of Rediviva is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Syrah. Amazing aromatic complexity grabs you and leads you into the dark interior of the wine, a riot of red and black fruits, moist earth, smoke, anise, herb and toast. Power and elegance combined, with the structure to age for a decade or more. (PG)" (03/2010)

2008 Buty "Columbia Rediviva" Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon - Syrah (1.5L) (Previously $100+) (Previously $100+)
New!
94 points Wine Enthusiast: "A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Syrah—this is a focused wine, with complex nuances of licorice, tar, mineral and lead pencil, but it is buttressed by the compact, concentrated red and black fruits. The dusty tannins are reminiscent of a Napa wine, with excellent length and polish. *Cellar Selection* " (07/2012) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Dense and focused, with fine, chewy tannins around a core of savory cherry, plum and herb flavors, hinting at game bird and fresh mushroom as the finish lingers expressively. " (11...

92 points John Gilman: "This is the first vintage of Anderson Valley Chardonnay that the winery has produced, and it is a very lovely wine that will drink well from its release. The bouquet is very floral and esthery, wafting from the glass in a lovely blend of pear, tangerine, fresh almond, white lilies, a hint of crème patissière, a nice base of soil and a very discreet framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very nicely generous on the attack, with fine focus and grip, a lovely core, bright acids and a long, complex an...

95 points Wine Enthusiast: " *Cellar Selection* Violets and compost dance through the aromas, leading into an intensely fruity palate loaded with sappy berry richness, nuanced with scents and streaks of cured meat, garrigue, earth and graphite. Blending 77% Syrah with 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, it strikes a perfect balance among fruit, earth, and rock. At its core it is still wrapped tight, immaculately clean, and still almost impenetrably dense. " (08/2010) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Supple, complex and deep, with mineral, earth and meat notes mingling w...

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Coming from Mendocino County, the 2015 Chardonnay Anderson Valley offers a riper, slightly tropical style in its aromatics, possessing lots of caramelized pineapples, orange blossom, and honeysuckle nuances, with some toasty, nutty notes developing with time in the glass. With terrific mid-palate depth and fat on the palate, as well as bright acidity and a great finish, it’s what I call a Smoking Value! It’s already impossible to resist, with a rounded feel, yet I suspect it will keep for a decade nevertheless." (08/2017) 92 poi...

93 points Wine Spectator: "Polished, generous and beautifully focused to display its violet-tinged currant and blackberry flavors, lingering on the open-textured finish. This shows more of the texture and flavor profile of Cabernet than Syrah, and it works elegantly." (02/2009) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Columbia Rediviva is 59% Cabernet Sauvignon and 41% Syrah, most of the fruit sourced from the Champoux Vineyard. Saturated purple in color, it has an alluring perfume of pain grille, scorched earth, mineral, black currant, and b...

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good dark ruby; slightly hazy. Sappy aromas of black cherry, currant, espresso and earth. Silky and stuffed with fruit. Acidity (from the substantial Petit Verdot component?) is still a bit pronounced, but this wine has the sheer extract to harmonize with bottle aging. Quite powerfully structured and very long on the aftertaste, though not as subtle as the regular '96. (ST)" (06/1999)

100 points James Suckling: "The aromas to this are incredible with blueberry, minerals, dried flowers, and stones. It goes to dried meat and spices. Full body and incredibly integrated with blackberry, licorice, and minerals. There's a wonderful purity to this. It goes on for minutes. The quality of tannins is amazing. Seamless. There's an amazing transparency that shows you all the elements of the wine's unique terrior." (02/2013) 100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An absolutely amazing wine ... It comes from one of the few biodynamic vineyard...

97 points Wine Spectator: "Good ruby color still. The nose is fresh, with lots of crushed berry and plum, with a hint of piecrust. Full-bodied, with firm tannins and a caressing texture. This delivers loads of complex fruit and spiciness. Medium-sweet. A beauty. Will improve for decades, but why wait? (JS, Web-2008)" 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A deep garnet core with brick rim. The nose is very tight and quite conservative with strawberry, baked cherry, tobacco and wild hedgerow. After thirty minutes it remains quite stoic, tucked up in i...

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This 2004, from a superb vintage shows a beautiful light red color with a brick rim and a superb nose redolent of balsamic woods, spices, leather, well-hung meat, incense and truffles. The light to medium-bodied palate shows fully resolved tannins, great acidity and pure, pungent flavors that linger in the mouth forever and that can only be Rioja. This is a wine to smell over and over again. It might sound like an exaggeration, but this wine is still too young and you should wait a little bit and drink the superb...

96 points John Gilman: "This wine has now been very shut down for the last four or five years, and though there is so much raw material here that the wine is still a joy to drink, bottles sampled today only represent twenty-five percent of what this wine will show at its glorious apogee. The bouquet is unmistakably Cheval, with scents of black cherries, bell pepper, dark chocolate, menthol, tobacco, herbs, espresso and vanillin oak wafting from the glass. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep, black fruity, and totally dense at the center, with exc...

2010 Domaine de la Janasse "Vieilles Vignes" Chateauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Back In Stock!
100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes, which achieved 16% natural alcohol, possesses an inky/purple color. It is slightly tighter and more restrained than the 2010 Chaupin, but it has enormous volume as well as incredible glycerin, richness and fat. A huge bouquet of pure blackberry and black currant fruit intermixed with charcoal, incense, truffles and spring flowers is followed by a prodigious, full-bodied wine that is capable of 20+ years of evolution. I hope Chateauneuf du Pape enthusiasts can find so...

97-98 points James Suckling: "This is mind blowing stuff. Notes of mint, minerals, currants, blackberries, with hints of cedar. Full bodied, very velvety and chewy. This won't be out until 2013. Winemaker believes this could be the best one yet, and I have to agree. Barrel sample. (JS)" (02/2011) 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made entirely of Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2009 Hillside Select has a deep garnet color. Wow—it explodes from the glass with this atomic nose of crème de cassis, Black Forest cake, baked plums and boysenberries plus hint...

1997 Delaforce Quinta do Corte (1.5L)
New!
95 points Wine Spectator: "A fruit bomb. Superb single-quinta wine. Excellent dark color, with intense currant, berry and claretlike aromas. Full-bodied, with a big, racy backbone of tannins. Lovely, sweet finish. Best after 2007." (02/2000)

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A wine I’ve been lucky enough to have numerous times since release, the 2009 Pontet Canet is one of those magical efforts that wine lovers encounter far too infrequently. From one of the greatest vintages for the region ever, this deep, saturated purple-colored effort offers an incredible bouquet of crème de cassis, blackcurrants, lead pencil shavings, damp earth, and graphite. This gives way to a full-bodied, powerful Pauillac that carries a massive amount of sweet fruit yet stays light and beautifully balanced on the palate. Wi...

100 points James Suckling: "This was phenomenal from barrel and remains so. The aromas are spellbinding. It smells like a bouquet of pink roses and then goes to currants, berries and citrus. Full body, with wonderfully refined tannins. It starts discretely and then grows to different levels and dimensions like a slow but big high tide. The texture is so beautiful. Try it in 2020 or beyond." (02/2013) 99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 is a brilliant Chateau Margaux, as one might expect in this vintage. The percentage of Cabernet Sauvign...

2000 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Reservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (torn label)
New!
93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full ruby-red. Liqueur-like aromas of black raspberry, black cherry and licorice. Lush, fat and full in the mouth, with superb concentration and richness. A seamless wine with great Chateauneuf du Pape character. Complicating notes of tar and chocolate. Finishes with dusty, broad tannins and great persistence. This can be enjoyed now with the right dishes but should age gracefully. (ST)" (01/2003) Wine Spectator: "Beautiful traditional Châteauneuf, all built around mineral, smoke, leather and plum ...

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The more closed but potentially greater 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Vin State Lane Vineyard is a 480-case blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by notes of licorice, creme de cassis, camphor and subtle toast. Full-bodied and concentrated, it represents 15% of the total Kapcsandy production. The wine finished with 13.7% alcohol, which in these days is relatively low, although the alcohol levels were down in 2009 through 2011 because of the...

Here is a fine find from the Right Bank. Founded in 1704, this 14-hectare estate run by the Bardet family is located on gravelly/clay soils that impart depth and complexity to the wine. 86% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. We just discovered this property in 2019, and we have already sold quite a bit of their 1995 and 1996. Super old-school label for an “old school” property. This wine has lots of red berry aromas and flavors. It really opens up with some decanting.

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "A well-ripened, opulent wine; it's huge in blackcurrant and cassis flavors and elaborate oak. You can taste the barrels in the smoke, vanilla and spicy flavors. Acidity hasn't been integrated yet, nor have the dusty tannins. It's really good now, but is best left to soften and integrate through 2008." (05/2004) 92 points Wine Spectator: "An impressive showing, this very complex, trim and balanced wine displays ripe currant, spice, loamy earth and black licorice flavors, with refined tannins. 1993 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Back In Stock!
90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1993 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is one of the more tannic and backward wines I have tasted from Silver Oak. Now that it has been bottled, it has closed down, displaying far less lushness and obvious concentration than it did last year. The color remains a healthy dark ruby/purple, and the nose offers earthy, toasty new oak, and sweet black fruit aromas. Tight, yet powerful and rich, this full-bodied, dense, atypically backward Cabernet Sauvignon does not possess Silver Oak's usual approachability and prec...

James Suckling: "Lots of ripe strawberries, with juicy orange and chalky mineral notes. Sweet red fruit on the palate with a juicy acidity and fine ripe tannins. Medium-full body and a pleasant medium-long finish with nice red fruit. Elegant. Second wine of Prieur de Meyney." (10/2011) Wine Spectator: "Offers a solid core of plum, currant paste and steeped cherry notes wrapped tightly with charcoal thread and dark briar patch and tobacco leaf notes. A bit rugged overall, but shows solid range and character. (JM, Web Only-2013)" K&L Notes: This is the ...

95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This presently has the same nose as the Corton-Charlemagne as it's both reduced and mildly woody though I would not expect this to persist beyond the first few years as the reduction is not heavy. There is once again outstanding volume and concentration as well as impressive size, weight and richness to the highly seductive big-bodied flavors that possess a plenitude of dry extract that both coats the palate and buffers the firm acid spine shaping the gorgeously long and well-balanced finale. In 2014 this more resemb...

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "I continue to think the 2009 Château Haut-Bailly is the finest wine from this estate to date. It exemplifies the inherent elegance and finesse of this terroir while offering an incredible level of richness and depth, revealing a ruby/plum hue as well as a smorgasbord of black cherries, red currants, lavender, unsmoked tobacco, truffle, and flowery incense. Every bit as sensational on the palate, this full-bodied Haut-Bailly has a flawless, layered, multi-dimensional texture, beautiful mid-palate depth, and again, just off-the-cha...

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "The wine shows the power typical of a Lafite but within the context of the fruity 2011 vintage. The immensely dense tannic structure gives the wine a solid feel that is lifted by so much ripe black currant and berry fruits. At the back, the wine has a more brooding, dark character that suggests great aging potential. Drink this wine from 2019. *Cellar Selection* (RV)" (05/2014) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Lafite-Rothschild is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot with an alcohol level of ...

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010's final blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc offers up impressive levels of red, blue and black fruits as well as some toasty oak and crushed rock, giving it minerality. Of course, the acidity in this vintage, with its lower pHs than 2009, provide a freshness and precision that is rare for wines so rich. This wine has plenty of tannin, so give it 4-6 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 25-30 years. (RP) 95+" (02/2013) K&L Notes: 95 points Lisa Perotti-Brown in Wine Advocate: "The 2...

Could be even better than 2000, and I gave that 100. This wine makes my head spin. Amazing. Layered and long. This is so 100-points." Take textbook St.-Julien warmed fig, blueberry compote and blackberry reduction notes along with ample graphite, bramble and tobacco flavors, then dial it up a notch. This has terrific energy to offset the admirable depth and length, and hasn't even started a second phase yet. One of the stars of the vintage.—Blind 2000 Bordeaux retrospective (December 2015). 98 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* A major success of the vintage. The wine exhibits extreme richness of the fruit, with all its sweet blackberry flavors. It also has underlying firm structure, density and solid tannins. Bring in the acidity at the end, and this is both impressive and ready for long-term aging." (02/2012) 96 points James Suckling: "Very floral, with fresh mushrooms and currants on the nose. Full body, with powerful tannins, yet polished and refined. Lovely length. Vibrant acidity. Well structured. Try after 2018." (02/2012)...

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Usseglio’s consider the 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul to be their greatest to date. I’ve done numerous tastings with the 2010 and 2007 side by side, and more times than not, I think the 2007 is the better wine. Time will tell though, and both are sensational wines that readers should have in their cellars. The inky colored 2010 is 100% Grenache fermented with 30% stems and aged in a combination of older barrels and foudre. More focused and precise than the '07 (and even darker in color), yet sti...
