Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Wedell "Hillside Vineyard" Edna Valley Pinot Noir. The Hillside Vineyard is a small, steep, north-facing slope in Edna Valley, planted to three Dijon clones (115, 667, and 777). The Wedell family purposely chose this slope and these clonal selections to stress the vines and restrain yields. At just 1.75 tons per acre, their methods have worked like a charm, producing a concentrated yet balanced Pinot Noir. Winery notes: "The deep color and intense bouquet of black cherry and raspberry are only a hint of what an extraordinary wine we have created. The rich mid palate and complex finish are reminiscent of a truly exceptional pinot noir. We feel that while our 2007 Hillside Vineyard Pinot Noir is enjoyable now it has the proper balance to benefit and improve with more bottle age for years to come."
