According to Jasper Morris: "The Burgundian wine domaine of Bouchard Pére et Fils can trace its origins back to 1731 though it is no longer family owned. In 1995 the Champagne house, Joseph Henriot, acquired the company and quality has risen as a consequence. Today Bouchard is led by Stéphane Follin Arbelet while the wines are made by Philippe Prost who has been with the company since 1978. An impressive gravity-flow winery on the Route de Savigny, the Cuvérie St Vincent, was completed in 2005, enabling them, to process all their wines with optimum effi...

91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A pretty and relatively airy nose offers up notes of spicy anise-suffused tea, plum, dark cherry and a hint of raspberry. Like a number of wines in the range, the texture of the larger-scaled flavors is beguiling before culminating in a muscular and powerful if slightly raspy but not drying finish. This too is going to need extended cellaring as it's presently quite tightly wound." (04/2020) K&L Notes: 93-96 points Jasper Morris for Inside Burgundy: "Lovely clear even purple colour. There is a sensual class to t...

94 points Decanter: "A bold and spicy nose full of black pepper, black cherries and clove which combine to give a soft savoury and fruity expression. Such vivacity and life force on the palate, the wine just jumps out of the glass, mouthfilling but with a lightness of touch and soft chalky tannins. Touch of oak gives structure and elegance to the bright cherry and raspberry fruit. From a 1.4 hectare clay-limestone plot, 50% parcel was planted in 1979, the other half in 1987. The wine is aged on the lees for 16-18 months, of which 12 months are spent in o...

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Corton-Grèves is spectacular. Dark-ruby/purple-colored, its awesomely ripe nose is awash in sweet cherries and oak spice. A massive explosion of juice-packed chocolate-covered cherries greets the palate and is followed by waves of kirsch-soaked blackberries, boysenberries, blueberries, and stones in this powerful, hugely-concentrated, and masculine wine. This velvety-textured, full-bodied, and seductive offering possesses an impressive lingering finish that reveals load of ripe, round tannins. It should be...

1996 Vincent Girardin Corton-Renardes Grand Cru
Back In Stock!
91-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is the first vintage in which Vincent Girardin is offering a Corton Renardes, and, judging from its quality, I hope there are many more to come. Medium-to-dark ruby-colored, this wine exhibits massive ripeness on the nose, displaying scents of raisins, prunes, and chocolate-covered cherries. The palate is no less ripe, offering loads of ripe black cherries, dark raspberries, and cassis, as well as a silky texture, and a full body. It does not have quite the depth or concentration of the Perrieres, but is ...

91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: " A very pretty nose offers up airy but ripe aromas of earth and spice-inflected red berries, especially wild cherry. The sleek, intense and well-detailed large scaled flavors possess evident minerality and muscle while delivering excellent focus and length on the powerful finale. This firmly structured and youthfully austere effort has everything it needs to reward up to two decades of development potential." (01/2021) 88-90 points Vinous: "The 2019 Corton Grand Cru comes mainly from Rognets and was completely d...

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Still excellent color. Here the nose has gone full-on secondary with darker fruit notes that include plum and currant spiked with leather, warm earth, humus and smoked meat. There is both good energy and detail to the broad-shouldered flavors that possess a relatively supple mid-palate that contrasts with the firm '95 style tannins that emerge on the robust and rustic but not tough finish. This is at once very Corton and very '95 that offers fine depth and persistence. With that said, there is no reason to delay drin...

2019 Domaine Faiveley Corton-Clos des Cortons Faiveley Grand Cru (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
98 points James Suckling: "A truly amazing Corton, thanks to the laser beam of sour-cherry aroma that shoots right through this sleek and vibrant wine. Great concentration, but remains light on its feet. The mineral finish extends and extends as you struggle to take it all in. Still very young with enormous aging potential. Drink or hold." (07/2021) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Corton Grand Cru Clos des Cortons Faiveley opens in the glass with notes of cassis, wild berries, warm spices, orange rind, rose petals, espresso roast ...

93-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here too there is a mentholated top note to the much earthier aromas of poached plum, underbrush, red currant and touches of the sauvage. There is excellent verve to the equally broad-shouldered and muscular flavors that possess outstanding complexity on the tannic, serious and beautifully long finish that is a bit less austere than it usually is at this early juncture. This beautifully well-made effort will also require extended bottle age to reveal its full potential, but it should very much be worth the wait. *...

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Very ripe, indeed even slightly roasted aromas of plum and prune introduce big-bodied and exceptionally rich flavors that seem fresher and more energetic in the mouth. This is quite a serious effort with fine concentration and my score offers the benefit of the doubt on the nose because it's too ripe for me to appreciate. *Sweet Spot*" (05/2011) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Corton Grand Cru Clos des Marechaudes is slightly lighter in color than the 2010. There are redder fruits on the nose com...

95 points Wine Spectator: "A beam of pure cherry aromas and flavors ignites this racy, vibrant red. It's pure, yet spice, earth, licorice and sanguine notes seep in by the long aftertaste. Refined tannins grace the finish. (BS)" (02/2021) 94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A brooding nose only reluctantly reveals its extremely fresh notes of plum, cassis, violets and pungent earth. There is a bit more volume to the powerful, concentrated and serious big-bodied flavors that evidence a lovely minerality on the mouth coating, firmly structured and stri...

96 points James Suckling: "Wow. This is a solid Corton with ripe strawberries, plums, bark and porcini. Full-bodied with tight, fine tannins, focused depth of fruit and excellent length. Quite muscular for the vintage." (08/2020) 93-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Moderate wood and menthol influences frame the intensely earthy and gamy aromas of both red and dark currant. There is excellent energy to the stony medium weight plus flavors that are at once succulent yet powerful where the latter carries over to the serious, firmly structured and mil...

92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Elegant, pure and airy aromas are comprised by spiced red cherry, plum and hints of warm earth, smoked game and pretty spice wisps. The nicely intense medium-bodied flavors are shaped by polished tannins and excellent verve while displaying good focus on the dusty, muscular, more structured and focused finish where the only reproach is a mild touch of warmth. As is usually the case, there is just a bit more overall depth here compared to its two Corton stablemates." (01/2021) 94 points Decanter: "in the lieu-dit...

93-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An overtly floral nose reflects notes of rose petal, lavender, acacia and violet along with nuances of red and black fruit, earth and a whiff of forest floor. There is excellent intensity, size, weight and power to the attractively textured big-bodied flavors that brim with minerality on the caressing but punchy finale. This beautifully balanced effort is in the classic mold of this wine as it's very clearly built for the long haul and again, I would suggest not touching this wine for at least a decade and two dec...

95 points Decanter: "Made with fruit purchased from a 0.32ha parcel planted in 1956, below Le Corton. 40% whole clusters and 60% new casks give a deeply aromatic wine, with abundant aromas of ripe blackberry, menthol, mineral and violets. On the palate, the texture is silky and very fine, yet there is a core of very firm tannins and great length. This has everything one wants in a Corton, from abundant fruit to firm structure and an immense finish. Drinking Window 2024 - 2039. (CC)" (10/2020) 90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An overly floral no...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru is also showing extremely well, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cassis, ripe plums, dark chocolate, dried flowers and spices. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and velvety, with a deep, layered core, succulent balancing acids and a long, intense and beautifully soil-driven finish. Cropped at 22 hectoliters per hectare, this is an exceptional Bressandes that will be well worth seeking out. (WK)" (01/2019) 91-94 points Vinous: "Bright red-ruby. Distinctly dark aroma...

92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A ripe and brooding nose that is intensely sauvage in character also grudgingly displays an array of various dark berries cut with plenty of floral influence. This is a markedly muscular wine with excellent size, weight and an almost pungent minerality adding lift to the concentrated broad-shouldered flavors that culminate in an extract-rich, balanced and hugely long finish. This is an impressive old school Corton that is notably firm but not particularly austere." (04/2014) K&L Notes: PLEASE NOTE: This product ...

92-94 points Vinous: "The 2019 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru comprises just one barrel this year. It has a very well-defined bouquet of ebullient red berry fruit laced with sous-bois and truffle aromas. The palate is very harmonious and elegant, delivering supple tannins and impressive weight toward the finish of pure raspberry and wild strawberry fruit, plus a tang of white pepper on the aftertaste. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Marius Delarche Corton-Renardes Grand Cru Réserve Vieilles Vignes. About the domain: "Burgundy from Domaine Marius Delarche stands as an example of what great wine can and should be: both memorable and affordable. Hidden away in this peaceful valley in the shadow of the noble hill of Corton was certainly the Côte de Beaune’s best-kept secret—gorgeous wines made by an honest winemaker for prices that reminded of decades past." 95 points Vinous: "(13.7% alcohol; 3.45 pH; 3.89 g/l acidity; production just under 35 h/h): Medium red with a faint suggestion of amber at the rim. The wonderfully complex yet discreet nose combines the fruits, flowers and spices of the '15 and the brooding medicinal character of the '12, presenting fruit aromas of raspberry, strawberry and cranberry lifted by white pepper, pungent spices and chalky verve. Wonderfully juicy, savory and tactile, showing outstanding intensity and cut, with the wine's aromatic treble notes of red berries, spices and rose p...

90-93 points Vinous: "Healthy dark red. Very ripe, tangy, alluring aromas of black raspberry, licorice, spices and black pepper lifted by a delicate floral element. Wonderfully fine-grained, savory and vibrant, with intense berry fruit energized by saline minerality. An elegantly styled Corton grand cru with terrific definition but no shortage of richness. Finishes vibrant and long, with harmonious, smooth tannins. (ST)" (01/2018) 90-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A spicy and notably ripe nose flashes notes of violet and liqueur-like black cherr...
