93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Vito Arturo is the quintessence of elegant Sangiovese in its brilliant ruby-garnet color and the fragrant aromas of raspberry and red currant fruit, permeated with balanced sensations of violets, coconut, nutmeg, and cardamom. Round, velvety, and with real bite and grip on its long flow over the palate, this is classic Tuscany at its focused best, a wine of breed and distinction. Drink: 2005-2015." (04/06) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Lots of ripe fruit and lots of new oak on the nose. Medium- to full-bod...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Elegance, finesse and deeply layered nuances are this Brunello's strongest suits. The aromas are tightly etched: The mineral tones are exact and fine, the fruit is fleshly and cushioned by tones of moist tobacco and earth. The menthol notes are divine and penetrating: A beautiful, vineyard-designate wine from Angelo Gaja. *Cellar Selection*" (02/2007) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Brunellos show the pedigree of the superior vintage. The Rennina is a lovely effort with an attractive floral nose and sugges...

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Podere Forte "Guardiavigna" Orcia (92VN, 91RP). Vinous: "The 2001 Guardiavigna tastes like a wine made yesterday. Still deeply colored and intense, the 2001 literally explodes from the glass with head-spinning array of deeply spiced, exotic dark red fruit. Menthol, lavender, rosemary and sage all add complexity on the huge, towering finish. In 2001, the blend was 60% Sangiovese and the rest Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The personality of the wine is dominated by the French varieties. Since then, the estate has eliminated Sangiovese from Guardiavigna in order to differentiate the wines a little bit more. This early effort from Podere Forte is simply tremendous. (AG)" (08/2013)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Luciano Sandrone’s 2001 Barolo Le Vigne is fresh, vibrant and totally impeccable. Flowers, mint, minerals and juicy red berries are some of the many nuances that come to life in the 2001 Le Vigne. The wine gains volume and shape with time in the glass. Seemingly endless layers of fruit flesh out on the mid-palate and finish. Hints of leather, spices, licorice and flowers add further complexity on the close. This is a fabulous showing from Luciano Sandrone. Although Sandrone’s Cannubi Boschis gets most of the atte...
