Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1970 Federico Paternina "Viña Vial" Rioja (94JG). John Gilman: "The 1970 Rioja “Viña Vial” from Federico Paternina is probably the finest wine I have ever tasted from this old line bodega. The bouquet is simply beautiful, delivering an à point aromatic constellation of dried cherries and strawberries, nutmeg, cocoa powder, spicy Rioja soil tones, coconutty oak and a nice topnote of savory elements. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very silky, with a succulent core, great, vibrant acidity, modest remaining tannins and a very long, complex and bouncy finish. A beautiful, beautiful wine." (05/2014)
Starting Bid: $180.00

Bid on this bottle of 1970 Prunotto Barbaresco Riserva. Prunotto is one of the staunchly traditional Piedmontese estates that has long been a reference point for exemplary Barolo wines of exceptional longevity.
Starting Bid: $90.88

Bid on this magnum of 1970 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (1.5L) (94ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Captivating nose of dark plum, blackcurrant, oak, coffee, cocoa and flowers. Juicy, sweet and suave on entry, then brightly focused in its red fruit and black flavors complicated by cedar and citrus. Finishes with flinty, saline nuances and very suave tannins. This outstanding wine is perfectly balanced and light on its feet, still very young and capable of a very long life. It might disappoint those looking for a blockbuster, but I love its overall sense of refinement. An essence of claret. (ID)" (08/2011)
