AnCnoc (Knockdhu) "Rascan" 11.1 PPM Peated Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml) (Previously $80) (Previously $80)
Top Pick!
AnCnoc Rascan is a beautiful Highland peater from the Knockdhu Distillery located in Banffshire. Since its inception in 1894, it has held close to its traditional methods of whisky production (read: never modernized). They still use a steel mashtun and wooden wash backs. Nestled amidst barley fields with an abundant supply of peat and pure springs, it is uniquely situated to create an old style of highland peated whisky. The stills remain identical to the original 1894 design featuring big fat bulbous pots with very tall necks that make for an elegant ex...

Wine Enthusiast: "Although the “Botanist” name might suggest a floral gin, instead the flavor profile veers toward herbs and spices. There’s a subtle, herbal scent, with anise flavors up front, backed by coriander seed and cassia bark on the spicy finish. Made by Bruichladdich Distillery, which is renowned for its Scotch, on a pot still named Ugly Betty. Sold in an attractive, square-shouldered, gift-worthy bottle. (KN)" (04/2012) K&L Notes: What happens when you take one of the greatest single malt distillers of all time, put him in a room with an old...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Warm with orange and spice notes, this gin is earthy and woodsy, finishing with a hint of bitter orange peel. Mix this mouthwatering gin made in Australia's Yarra Valley into Negronis and other bold-flavored cocktails. (KN)" (08/2017) K&L Notes: The pride of Australia is now available here at K&L! After sweeping Double Gold at the San Francisco Spirits competition and wowing serious fans of gin around the world, Four Pillars is bringing its incredible gins from down under to the U.S. Utilizing "four pillars" of success (qual...

The pride of Australia is now available here at K&L! After sweeping Double Gold at the San Francisco Spirits competition and wowing serious fans of gin around the world, Four Pillars is bringing its incredible gins from Down Under to the U.S. Utilizing "four pillars" of success (quality German copper stills, pure Yarra Valley water, unique Australian botanicals, and love, of course), the team of Aussies has created what we think are the best portfolio of high-quality, serious gins we've ever tasted. At a whopping 58.8%, the Navy Strength gin is a bold an...

It's a rare thing to get excited about a vodka. The folks at the Minden Mill Distilling in Minden, Nevada have produced an exceptional 100% estate grown rye vodka in the shadow of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Proofed with snowmelt, it's soft, smooth and gently spicy. The perfect backbone for a vodka cocktail or just sipping ice cold.

The world's first farm-to-table Irish Cream. The cream is collected from family-owned farms in County Cork and blended and bottled within 48 hours of collection. And unlike most other cream liqueurs, Five Farms doesn't add any sugar--the sweetness comes naturally from the cream. Awarded 97 points at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge, this is certainly the world's finest Irish Cream and perfect for the holidays. It also co...

Just when you think you've tasted every type of booze known to man, you discover that there are more regionally specific spirits being distilled in places you've never considered. Take Bolivia, where they make a pisco-like spirit called Singani, distilled from Muscat of Alexandria grapes grown high in the Andes mountains. Muscat is an aromatic varietal, known for its fruity and floral character, and the Singani spirit takes on many of the perfumes found in the expressive grape. The result is a clean and vibrant brandy that drinks like something in betwee...

Whisky Advocate: "Fresh and delicate on the nose, with stone fruit—especially peaches—white pepper, orange Creamsicle, and spice. A generous oak backbone provides the foundation for plums, nectarines, black pepper, clove, chamomile tea, and piney cedar that sweeps into a dry oak, cocoa, iced-tea finish. Although a bit hot at times, the balance and array of flavors is an outstanding coup for this young distillery. (SSB, Winter-2018)" K&L Notes: Quite frankly, there isn't a project in Kentucky as exciting as New Riff if you're a classic Bourbon fan. Ken L...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Mild lemongrass and pine aromas lead the nose. The palate treads lightly with mild lemon and lime. Fleeting lemon-sugar sweetness winds into a fiery pink peppercorn exhale. Botanicals include yuzu, ginger, turmeric and sencha genmaicha (Japanese green tea with roasted brown rice).(KN)" (03/2023) K&L Notes: Four Pillars is not new to most K&L customers. Gin Mare is a product we discovered in Scotland, of all places, years ago while searching for single malt. The retailer across the street from our hotel in Edinburgh was featuring the gin in a tasting that evening and we went over to check it out. Distilled in Spain with olives, rosemary, basil, and thyme, it's a savory and truly Mediterranean experience. The herbs never overpower the palate, however, as the balance between them is quite delicate and refined. It's definitely an ideal choice for martinis, paired with olives, of course.

Whisky Advocate: "A whiff of mealy, floury apples, pear, candied lemon peel, and fruit teas, this is certainly light and fruity, genteel even, yet a little timid overall. Soothing and creamy to drink, there's poached pears in condensed milk, white grape, a slow-paced crescendo of spice, and a dash of tangy citrus peel, followed by canned pears and a whir of spices on the finish. Carefree whisky for happy-go-lucky drinkers. (JM, Winter-2021)" K&L Notes: Few things in the whiskey world are as exciting as a new addition to the Compass Box core lineup. Know...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "At first, this whiskey is easy to underestimate, since the amber color and mild toffee aroma give little away. But one sip, and it is clear this whiskey means business: Deep vanilla cookie and cigar tobacco flavors unfold to a big, burnt-caramel finish, which washes over the palate like a rolling wave. Manhattan-worthy. (KM)" (03/2011) K&L Notes: Finally, cask strength Jack. Not sure how long this will last, but at least we've got some serious juice coming out of Lynchburg. Critics, even the ones who discount the brand outri...

90-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "The bouquet is subtle and alluring, with distant notes of buttered popcorn and escarole broth; aeration stimulates aromas of peanut butter, rye toast and damp cobblestone. Silky palate entry is slightly sweet, concentrated and grainy; at midpalate, the flavor turns drier, lightly spiced and almost fruity (as in dried fruit). Aftertaste is long and spicy. Well crafted and quality driven." (06/2004) K&L Notes: Made from 100% Polish rye, the Potocki vodka might be the best vodka we carry. It's the cleanest, most pure form of...

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "Lively and complex, this carries aromas of honey, cedar, Mandarin orange, cooked pineapple and brown sugar. The plush, slightly viscous palate echoes those flavors, layering on bright flickers of cedar and lemon peel, plus a hint of funk reminiscent of agricole rhum. It finishes with a warming clove tingle on the tip of the tongue. Made with 100% pot still Jamaican rum, aged first in Jamaica and then in ex-Cognac casks at the Ferrand estate. *Best Buy* (KN)" (06/2019) K&L Notes: This stunning 100% pot still Jamaican rum is a...

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "This ethereal, delightful liqueur is clear in the glass, with a fresh, bright aroma that suggests fresh-cut green melon and cucumber water, plus a zesty citrus hint. The palate teases with sweet, vegetal, floral and fleeting jalapeño spice in turn, without quite settling in one space. A treat with tequila. *Top 100 Spirits of 2018* (KN)" (10/2018) K&L Notes: This wonderful concoction from Kurt Charron captures the essence of California's natural wonders and puts them right in your glass. Wine Enthusiast: "One of a trio of new gins from this artisan distiller, this gin's claim to fame is that it was inspired by a hike on Mt. Tam, and the distiller describes it as akin to 'drinking a martini in a pine forest.' Some will find the juniper essence too strong, although it also reads as clean and bracing, and it's laced with a peppery finish. Botanicals include Douglas fir, fennel, bay laurel and sage. A portion of the profits from the gin are donated to support California wilderness. (KN)" (04/2012) K&L Notes: Across the San Francisco Bay fr...

YOLA Mezcal holds a perfect balance between authenticity and aesthetics. Created in collaboration between Yola Jiminez (of La Clandestina Mezcaleria fame), Lykke Li (Swedish songwriting sensation), and Gina Correll Aglietti (chef and stylist), YOLA counters the patriarchal system ubiquitous in Oaxaca. YOLA is run by women, bottled by women. We've seen time and again that no palenque succeeds without the contribution of strong women, and YOLA provides a place where the women of Oaxaca can have steady work. The result is absolutely delicious mezcal that wi...

The exceptional San Bartolo brand was conceived by Daniel Martinez and his grandfather legendary mezcalero Valentin Martinez Lopez. Don Valentin has been making mezcal in the little village of San Bartolo Yautepec for more than 50 years, and his connections with mezcaleros in this remote corner of Oaxaca are deep. Their closest allies are in the neighboring village, Santa Maria Quiegolani. Here Maestro Enrique Diaz Cruz has been making mezcal for most of his nearly 70 years. The village is located at 7,000 feet, deep into the Sierra Sur, about 1.5 hours ...

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Look for a bold, vegetal aroma marked by bell and jalapeño pepper. The palate is fairly spicy up front, with black pepper and jalapeño sparks against a vegetal core. The mineral-laced finish is clean and bracing. (KN)" (05/2017) K&L Notes: El Tesoro de Don Felipe Tequila began in 1937 when the brand's namesake founded the traditional distillery in Los Altos (the highlands) of Jalisco, Mexico. The fabulous program from the Sazerac Company offers us a chance to bring our bourbon selections to further use in Jalisco. 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Distilled from corn and finished with raw honey, this barrel-aged bottling is billed as a “modern day adaptation of Old Tom Gin,” a sweetened style. It has a burnished rose gold hue and the scent mingles honey and juniper. It's slightly sweet up front, with brisk pininess midpalate before it fades into vanilla and a surprising brush of peach. (KN)" (08/2015) K&L Notes: The Tom Cat Gin is one of the best barrel aged gins we have ever carried. The gin is pure, elegant and focused. Made with a single botanical -- juniper -- and...

Each complex sip opens slightly sweet and finishes with citrus zing, mouthwatering salinity and a mineral hint of graphite. (KN)" (11/2023) K&L Notes: There are few products where legacy is more important than in Tequila. Brands come and go, but families do not. 90 points Whisky Advocate: "A blend of 3 to 5 year old straight rye and 4 to 12 year old straight bourbon. Although the nose is a bit reticent, once it opens up, what is revealed is pure delight: orange blossom, iced tea, dark berries, lemon oil, pine, cinnamon, nutmeg, and leather. Fruit and spice enjoy a dynamic interplay on the palate, with orange, cherry, blueberry, and grape, shot through with cedar, cinnamon, and sturdy oak. The medium-length finish is supple and pretty: dark chocolate, toasted pecans, and well-integrated oak. (SSB, Winter-2019)" ...

Bulleit 12 Year Old Rye Whiskey (750ml)
Top Pick!
Bulleit, the nation's number-one rye whiskey, added a 12 year to their lineup back in 2019 and it sold out instantly. The same 95% rye, 5% malted barley mashbill is used here, and longer aging provides more smoothness, richness, and a longer finish than the standard rye. Now in 2024, the blend includes whiskies up to 17 years old and remarkably, the price is little changed despite the inflation we've seen over the last 5 years. There is virtually no American whisky available at 12 years old under the $50 mark. This makes this latest release from Diageo o...

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Eye-catchingly lurid red-orange, this classic liqueur has a mellow orange-y aroma. Though it's considered an aperitivo bitter, the vibrant flavor is more sweet-bitter than bittersweet, channeling orange and grapefruit peels. The viscosity, color and sweetness lends presence to Spritzes and other cocktails. (KN)" (05/2022) K&L Notes: Aperol's unique flavor and color is achieved through a subtle blend of bitter orange, gentian, rhubarb, and an array of herbs and roots using a secret recipe that has been unchanged since its fir...

(KN)" (08/2015) K&L Notes: Sipsmith is the first new copper-distilled London gin to actually be made in London in the last 200 years—as most production has moved to Scotland for economic reasons. The boys at the distillery have awoken a new movement of pride in London distillates: the term "London dry gin...

Whisky Advocate: "Hugely floral and perfumed on the nose, with rose petals, violet candies, and dried orange peel. This is the Gewürztraminer of American single malts—sweet lychee, laced with sachet aromas that explode as if opening Grandma’s dresser drawer. The palate is more tropical; dried pineapple, canned peach syrup, and spice. This could be polarizing, but it’s utterly captivating and worth a try. The palate is equally out there, with old-fashioned fabric Band-Aids, bladderwrack seaweed, black pepper, smoldering peat, vanilla, caramel, and sweet oak. The finish is as big as everything else, with barbecue, iodine, and asphalt. Still a classic! The amazing Cortes family should be considered mezcal royalty. Located outside the village of Mengoli de Morelos, the kind, young son Ageo learned from his father Felipe and began distilling at 17.
