Signatory has long been one of the preferred independent bottlers on the market. For almost three decades now, we've been selling Signatory because their cask selection process is second to none in the industry. They also have a knack for building incredible collections of rare casks, so walking through their warehouse is an absolute dream. As you pass Bowmore from the 70s and Port Ellen, you'll stumble by Dallas Dhu and Rosebank. Yet it's some of the modern stocks that are most shocking! Highland Park on its own is pretty rare outside of distillery bott...

The wonderful Glengoyne distillery is always one to keep an eye. Built in 1833, it was sold by Archiball Macllelan to the Lang Brothers where it remained until 1965 when it was purchased by a predecessor organization to Edrington Group. In 2003, it was sold to blenders and bottlers Ian Macleod and they've rightfully made Glengoyne a worldwide brand. They're famous for their sherried malt and it's rare to see a butt make it out of their warehouses under anyone else's label. That's why we were so excited to see this pop up and when we tasted it we knew we ...

A good nicely aged Mortlach is something we wish we could offer more readily. Make it stupidly drinkable and at an unbelievably generous price, and we’ll drop nearly everything else. This attractive little refill hogshead is a dreamy, offering malt driven style from the Beast of Dufftown. You can visit a bona fide Fairy Village in Dufftown these days or the famous Giant's Chair, but the wonderful distillery in the gully by the stream to the south of town is arguably the town's most magical spot. The Mortlach makes an extremely unique malt. The distillati...

The very first Hearach Single Cask ever to be released in the US and one of the first-ever bottled worldwide. If you haven't been paying attention, the little distillery on the Isle of Harris is producing some of the finest whisky in Scotland. Produced in extremely small batches in and with a focus on quality and character overall. This single cask was filled into an extremely high-quality single bourbon barrel. Lightly peated, its ocean aging environment gives this whisky an incredibly depth, but its main focus is balance. The wispy smoke and rich toast...

The Blue Run bourbon brand is one of the industry's most meteoric rises of any new brand. How did they do it? They got great people to bottle great bourbon in small batches and put it in a beautiful bottle. We were early Blue Run adopters at K&L, not because we loved the bottles and we do, but because they were clever enough to hire one of our favorite people in the bourbon industry — Jim Rutledge. He's been a guiding force for the industry for years and under his tutelage Blue Run has thrived, so when they offered us a chance to have our own single barr...

2005 Undisclosed Jamaica 17 Year Old "Golden Devil" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Jamaican Rum (700ml)
This phenomenal barrel of rum will forever be a mystery. Wild speculation exists about its source and the bottler has absolutely zero information from the source about its marque. Those circumstances are highly unusual considering the quality and character of the rum in question. But, if you notice similar batches out there, there are only a handful of distillers that could supply this rum. Worthy Park, we've had others from the vintage and they have always included the blenders marque. The distillery was only selling in bulk at the time and their stocks...

Jim McEwan: "Colour - Primrose Yellow Aromas - Opens beautifully on a combination of Primrose, Myrtle, Lily, Marigold and mint. It’s like walking through the peat fires next to the Atlantic Ocean! Then the sweetness of the toasted barley and mellow oak drift in bringing with them little hints of bourbon spiciness laid down by the first spirit matured in the cask. “Its gentle on my mind” Taste - The spirit is balanced & restrained on the palate. This is pure Islay; No smoke, just barley & oak and time by the Ocean. The opulent flavours seduce...

Jim McEwan: "Aromas - Opens beautifully on a brilliant combination of peat embers and a spicy sweetness encapsulated in a cradle of sweet mellow oak with a drift of the Ocean bringing a freshness seldom found in many whiskies matured full term by the Atlantic. Palate - The sweetness of the malted barley works wonderfully with the spiciness from the bourbon soaked staves. Add to that peat fire embers and the marine overture all held in a halo of mellow oak. It envelopes the taste buds like a warm peat fire on a stormy night as the wind and rain batters th...

Jim McEwan: "Aromas - Opens on a beautiful combination of peat smoked barley with tantalising hints of lemon & honey then waves of heather in bloom drift by. Little notes of juniper and pine mingle beautifully with the spiciness of bourbon residue and sweetness of malt extract. It’s Islay at its best, in the early summer with the warm winds from the Atlantic Ocean caressing the barley fields and depositing the salty moisture on the land that give the barley its unique flavour. Palate - The sweetness of malt extract is in harmony with the smokiness from t...

Jim McEwan: "Aromas - Opens on a stormy November day walking on the West Coast with gigantic waves blowing in from the West, then the sweetness of the barley sugar comes forward in harmony with the spicy sweetness from the bourbon soaked staves on its 1st fill. The peat smoke and the spice, plus its maturation a stones throw from the Atlantic Ocean create a truly spiritual olfactory experience. Palate - Like no other single malt, it’s smoky but there is much more to be discovered. With a dash of water and time to let it settle, you will be rewarded with ...

Jim McEwan: "Colour - Summer Barley Fields Aromas & Taste - It detonates on a combination of smoke, storm lashed seaweed and allspice, followed by the sweetness of charred oak sugars and the sweet spicy residue from the bourbon that first filled the cask. Its a unique olfactory experience, lots going on with the oak holding the big aromas in check and allowing the quality of distillate to shine through which also highlights the skills of the team who work away quietly without computers. They are seldom mentioned because that’s not the Islay way, let ...
