93 points Decanter: "Another crowd-pleasing wine from Weston Eidson, who cut his teeth working alongside Napa's Jason Moore and Russell Bevan. This blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot, and 2% Malbec is sourced from Oakville and Yountville AVAs and was aged in 50% new French oak barrels. Medium to deep ruby-purple colour in the glass. It showcases the warmth and generosity of Napa's 2022 vintage in an incredibly satisfying package, leading with enticing aromas of vanilla-laced boysenberry fruit scented with lilac floral and sweet baking spice...

96 points Decanter: "Pommard, Wadenswil (50%) and a bit of Dijon, the youngest vines on the Maresh estate, are from 1997, as well as plantings from 1991, 83, and 70, all of it own-rooted. Earth and rose petals announce gorgeous aromatics. Winemaker Jim Maresh destems 100%. It sees 18-24 months in barrel. At $33.50, this may be the best deal in American wine. Earthen aromatics, pine bough, and blood orange spritz. The palate is fresh with blue and red bramble fruits, spicy clove and savoury herbaceousness. 96 points James Halliday: "All P58 clone from '80 and '82 plantings. Whole-bunch pressed to 500L puncheons (about 20% new). No lees stirring. A touch brighter and deeper in colour than the Hazeldene. Sexy stuff from the first whiff with its aromas of stone fruits, acacia honey and grilled nuts. Glides effortlessly across the silken-textured palate. You know it will age well, but this is an Oakridge chardonnay that you won't need to wait too long to enjoy. *Gold*" (02/2024) 96 points James Suckling: "From the oldest vineyard at this address, planted in ...

92 points James Suckling: " Tart red fruit on the nose with ripe strawberries and cherries. Medium- to full-bodied with firm tannins and outstanding balance. The palate displays dusty red fruit with dried flowers and mineral notes on the finish." (03/2024) 92 points Vinous: "The 2022 Pinot Noir Un is remarkably pretty, with a lifted blend of dusty rose and violet pastille accentuating dried strawberries. This model of purity is lifted and refined with crisp red and blue fruits swirling across a stream of brisk acidity. The 2022 leaves a coating of fine...

For decades now, our Kalinda private label has been providing K&L customers with awesome wines at a fraction of what they'd normally pay under the producers' mainstay labels. Naturally, no producer wants their wines on the market for less than what they'd usually sell for, so the trade-off is anonymity. This is a superb Cabernet-very elegant and user friendly already. Lots of sweet cassis and red fruit aromas that follow to the palate. No hard edges here-drink it young with a prime rib or steak dinner. Will cellar well for five plus years. clyde

94 points John Gilman: "The 2022 Clos de la Roilette “regular bottling” is truly exceptional in this vintage. The bouquet is deep, pure and sappy, wafting from the glass in a mix of sweet cassis, black plums, dark chocolate, gamebird, dark soil tones, violets, a touch of brown spices and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is deep, focused and full-bodied, with bottomless depth of sappy black fruit at the core, superb soil signature and grip, ripe tannins and a very long, complex and impeccably balanced finish. This has a lovely ve...

Ribbon Ridge is often considered the prime sub-region in the Willamette Valley for world-class Pinot Noir. This tiny appellation is home to icons such as Beaux Freres, Sequitur, Ribbon Ridge Estate, Patricia Green, Brick House and more. Norris planted their small 10 acre estate in 2007 to a mix of heritage clones (Coury, Wädenswil, Pommard), plus some Dijon 667 and 115. The soils are Wilakenzie, an ancient marine sedimentary soil. Having learnt his craft at famed wineries such as Williams-Selyem, The Hilt / Jonata, Trisaetum, Craggy Range and others, own...

95 points Decanter: "This is a wonderful wine from Grand Vent, Cleary Ranch, the Michael Valentine vineyard from the Freestone Valley, and a Laguna vineyard that supplies the Swann clone. Red and black fruits are concentrated with stem inclusion, giving the wine a tremendous savoury backbone. The palate is redolent of cloves, red berries, and early-season black plums. (CP)" (02/2024) 92 points James Suckling: "A fresh and clean pinot with some floral notes, burnt stem and hints of nutmeg. It’s medium-bodied with juicy fruit and a savory and delicious f...

93 points John Gilman: "The 2022 Evangelho Vineyard bottling from Cody and Emily Rasmussen is composed from a blend of ninety percent, very old vine Carignan and ten percent Mourvèdre. The Carignan vines are ungrafted and were planted in the 1890s! The wine was fermented with thirty percent whole clusters and raised all in foudres and the 2022 comes in at an even fourteen percent octane. It delivers a deep and complex aromatic constellation of cassis, sweet dark berries, chocolate, smoked meats, a lovely base of soil, a lovely array of spice tones and ju...
A remarkable expression of Nebbiolo from one of the most respected producers in the Barolo region, Massolino delivers a Langhe Nebbiolo that captures the essence of the grape in a more approachable style. Sourced from younger vines and vineyard sites outside of the Barolo DOCG, this Nebbiolo showcases the craftsmanship and tradition that the Massolino family has been dedicated to since 1896. Massolino’s Langhe Nebbiolo is an excellent entry point into the world of Piedmont’s noble grape, offering a level of complexity, freshness, and vibrancy that’s char...
91 points Int'l Wine Review: "The 2022 Les Roches Sauvignon is bright and lively, this beings with vivid aromas of lychee, lime zest, wet stones and white floral notes all bursting from the glass. On the palate this is nicely balanced with a lovely combination of bright acidity and fresh tropical fruits all leading up to the mouthwatering finish. 92-94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2022 Pinot Noir Seafarer showed beautifully, with a darker strawberry, plum, and mulberry-driven profile offering lots of cooler peppery herb, violet, and underbrush-like nuances. It's medium-bodied, silky, and elegant on the palate." (08/2023)
90 points Wine Enthusiast: "A composition of 70% Grenache, 25% Syrah and 5% Cinsault, this wine sits in the glass with a pretty ruby hue. The nose delivers a violet and lavender bouquet with a layer of wild strawberry and black licorice. The palate is charming with just gentle tannins that support earthy brown mushroom and a squeeze of fresh cherries. 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "An impressively rich wine, this is a dense, spicy wine packed with black fruits. The wood aging for 12 months has polished the tannins and brightened the acidity. (RV)" (04/2024) K&L Notes: Vigneron Hervé Joyaux Fabre began his career as a Bordeaux merchant but the wines of Argentina began to gain his attention. This is a classic white Bordeaux, with the melange of citrus flavors and roundness that has made the category a timeless classic. Jesús Puelles is one of the most talented vignerons in Rioja. Hailing from a long line of vineyard worker/owners, Puelles knows the terruño in his little slice of land in the Rioja Alta town of Abalos. Most of the grapes for his red wines come from his own 20 hectares, which are north-facing and located at 600 meters in altitude, affording the visitor with one of the most dramatically beautiful views of Rioja's main mountain ranges: the Sierra Cantabria mountains immediately to the north and the Sierra de la Demanda mountains to the south. This white win...

A warm weather superstar, this is 100% Vermentino. Domaine Petroni lies on the eastern shore of Corsica near Lake Diane, one of the great sources for oysters and mussels on the island. Founded in 1885 and run by the Ramazotti brothers, the vineyards are planted on sandy and clay soils overlooking the Mediterranean. Their rosé was one of our great success stories this year, but the white and red have emerged as house favorites as well.

Burghound: "An ultra-fresh and nicely ripe nose freely offers up its pretty aromas of mostly red pinot fruit and soft earth scents. The racy, delicious and attractively textured middleweight flavors conclude in a dusty and lightly austere finale. While this could be approached young, 2 to 5 years of keeping should round off the finish and develop more depth." (01/2024) Jasper Morris: "Plots on the sand for the most part. A bright purple. Lean, austere, fresh. Red berries with even a chocolate note behind. Drier finish but enough fruit. Ready to bottle....

98 points Decanter: "The second iteration of this wine (tasted pre-release), which is quickly rising to icon status in Swinney’s portfolio. Tiny production from bushvines, the fruit is harvested in three passes wild fermented in whole bunches and matured in old oak. Currently tightly wound and holding its cards close to its chest, its starry journey ahead is clear. Vibrant, densely knit dark black plum aromas with a jewel-like clarity, along with violets, star anise, eucalypt, heady ferrous notes and crushed earth. Tannins might be tight and bunched up i...

A hint of floral aromas with cassis, dark-fleshed plum, blackberry and a subtle seasoning of spicy oak. Delicious wine that can be appreciated now." (11/2023) 97 points Raymond Chan: "Bright, ruby-red with good transparency, slightly lighter on the rim. One of K&L's very finest buys from France, this is a reserve cuvée, made from Millet's chalkiest limestone soils. There is a long maceration at very low temperatures to extract as much flavor and character as possible. The resulting wine is intensely charged with stone fruit and minerality, and bright citrus notes. The wines of this family domaine have been a staple here at K&L since the 1994 vintage when Franck and Betty Millet drove a long way (to Beaune!) on Easter Sunday to meet Clyde and crew to present the wines. We love these wines for their fresh...

95 points James Suckling: "A cool site with meager topsoil, Sechet is a cru that serves warmer years well, delivering tension and refinement. Very linear, showing typical Chablis character along with its vibrant acidity. Aniseed and mint with hints of toast and chestnuts. More delineated and voluminous than so-called classic vintages, but still pulls the saliva and tingles the tongue in readiness for the next glass. Excellent showing of this wine. Drinkable now, but best from 2026." (03/2024) 92-94 points Wine Advocate: "The 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Séchet...

94 points Descorchados : "Auténtico is from a selection of vineyards that Colomé has around its winery in the Colomé zone, some 2,300 meters above sea level. It was not barrel aged, just steel tanks and concrete eggs for 10 months, this shows the character or, better, Colomé's vision of its high-altitude terroir in the middle of the Andes. This is a wine full of ripe, red fruits, deep flavors, and dense textures accompanied by tense acidity that marks the character of this tremendous high-altitude wine." At its best: 2025 to 2037" (12/2023) 96 points Bob Campbell: "Ripe, concentrated wine with cassis, blackberry, violet, dark chocolate and spicy oak underpinned with vibrant acidity. Folktale Winery was founded in 2015 by a group of artists, craftspeople, and lovers of life who wanted to create a place where stories and wines could be shared. 91-93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2022 Crozes-Hermitage Cuvée Christophe should easily be outstanding. It's made in a slightly more modern style, with some new oak, but it has a classic vibe in its smoky darker fruits and peppery, meaty aromatics. Medium to full-bodied and nicely concentrated, with building tannins, it's going to 2-3 years of bottle age and will evolve nicely over the following decade." Finca Garabato is a parcel of Valtea's oldest wines. This wine spends a year in tank with extended lees contact. As Neal Martin writes: "Nuiton-Beaunoy is a co-operative of around 115 growers in the Cotes and Hautes Cotes. Their wines offer the best of collectives: Excellent value wines made from grapes hand-tended by devoted small farmers.

Winemaker Anthony Girard grew up in his family's Sancerre winery, but spent a number of years learning about wine production all over the world before returning home to continue working with Sauvignon Blanc. While helping with the namesake Girard label, Anthony wanted to create his own project on the side and eventually purchased a small plot of pristine real estate near the town of Récy, with primo Sancerre limestone soils. After acquiring the vines, he was given a large key as a symbolic gesture of new ownership, a "clef du récit," which became the nam...

96 points Wine Advocate: "The 2022 Grenache is red fruited and lusty, with really entrenched fleshy fruit characters on the nose, and this translates fluidly in the mouth, where you find blood and pastrami, raspberry pip, red licorice, layers of pomegranate and ironstone, iodine and rust. This is a superb wine; it feels vast and open, rich and fresh. You can't fake this kind of fruit intensity; it's either in the vineyard, or it's not. And here, it is." The 2022 is laced with raspberry jam, ripe blackberry, gravel and leafy elements. Earthy scents add further contrast. 96 points James Suckling: "This is the wine of this cooler vintage. The temperature ebbs, peripatetic at times, seem to have disadvantaged those varieties that ripen very late. Here, there are firm but sinuous tannins. A briny nose, demur yet brimming with intent. Dried black olive, pithy and chewy. Iodine, darker fruits, charcuterie, pimento and white pepper, ground across a long skein of freshness, melding with the ferrous and almost gritty salt-crusted tannins. Reminiscent of a good Cornas, this is fine, savory, mid-weighted syrah. Drinkable now, but ...

From K&L On the Trail blog: "Jean-Michel Giboulot took over the family business in 1982 and has put together one of the best bang-for-your-buck portfolios in all of Burgundy over the last three-plus decades. His wines from Burgundy's Savigny-lès-Beaune appellation are known as great values, and both the reds and whites are equally strong. Giboulot's wines straddle the line between traditional and modern, with reds that have crunchier fruit and fine tannins, but plenty of ripeness and purity. The whites are done in a feminine style with rounder fruit and ...

Briny, chewy and gorgeous in its savory guise, this is a powerful expression bound to such a taut tannic fabric, underlain by spice and a tuft of dried herb, that there is not for a moment any excess of sweet fruit. Lots of chomp, depth and layers, oozing tapenade, saddle leather, sweet loamy earth, martini brine, menthol and violet notes, with raspberry bon-bon lurking. A wonderful wine deserving of serious praise and cellar time. Best after 20...

A hint of reduction on the nose sashays effortlessly to clove, star anise and dusty riffs on turmeric and curry powder, before violets, blue fruits and iodine play a more typically regional shiraz card. This is my favorite wine of the recent suite in terms of sheer drinkability. Younger vines, longer extraction and superior tannins to the rest, the result. Crunch, sass and power all in one. The bouquet leads with graphite and raspberry leaf tea, iodine and crushed shells, rust and fresh blood, layers of white pepper and tobacco. Stylistically, I feel this 2022 is in line with the 2018, and it looks utterly sensational here today; it's elegant and complete, composed and detailed.
