92 points James Suckling: " Tart red fruit on the nose with ripe strawberries and cherries. Medium- to full-bodied with firm tannins and outstanding balance. The palate displays dusty red fruit with dried flowers and mineral notes on the finish." (03/2024) 92 points Vinous: "The 2022 Pinot Noir Un is remarkably pretty, with a lifted blend of dusty rose and violet pastille accentuating dried strawberries. This model of purity is lifted and refined with crisp red and blue fruits swirling across a stream of brisk acidity. The 2022 leaves a coating of fine...

95 points Decanter: "This is a wonderful wine from Grand Vent, Cleary Ranch, the Michael Valentine vineyard from the Freestone Valley, and a Laguna vineyard that supplies the Swann clone. Red and black fruits are concentrated with stem inclusion, giving the wine a tremendous savoury backbone. The palate is redolent of cloves, red berries, and early-season black plums. (CP)" (02/2024) 92 points James Suckling: "A fresh and clean pinot with some floral notes, burnt stem and hints of nutmeg. It’s medium-bodied with juicy fruit and a savory and delicious f...

95 points Decanter: "Punchy grapefruit, peach and vibrant herbal notes with a zingy line of citrus peel acidity; incredibly varietal and precise with a long, abiding finish. Spectacular!" (07/2023) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Effusive and intense, with candied ginger, dried pineapple and notes of fresh apricot on a juicy, fleshy frame. Gains momentum on the finish, where details of oolong tea and lime zest linger. 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "An impressively rich wine, this is a dense, spicy wine packed with black fruits. The wood aging for 12 months has polished the tannins and brightened the acidity. (RV)" (04/2024) K&L Notes: Vigneron Hervé Joyaux Fabre began his career as a Bordeaux merchant but the wines of Argentina began to gain his attention. Falling in love with the category, he purchased his winery in Mendoza and created in Fabre Montmayou in 1992. Gaining much success there it was not until 2015 when Fabre turned his sight back to the birthplace of Mal...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "A composition of 70% Grenache, 25% Syrah and 5% Cinsault, this wine sits in the glass with a pretty ruby hue. The nose delivers a violet and lavender bouquet with a layer of wild strawberry and black licorice. The palate is charming with just gentle tannins that support earthy brown mushroom and a squeeze of fresh cherries. (ACC)" (11/2024) K&L Notes: The Verquière estate has been passed down from father to son for four generations and is now managed by Thibaut Chamfort. 91 points Int'l Wine Review: "The 2022 Les Roches Sauvignon is bright and lively, this beings with vivid aromas of lychee, lime zest, wet stones and white floral notes all bursting from the glass. On the palate this is nicely balanced with a lovely combination of bright acidity and fresh tropical fruits all leading up to the mouthwatering finish. (JD)" (02/2023)

This is a classic white Bordeaux, with the melange of citrus flavors and roundness that has made the category a timeless classic. The wines from Château Tour Léognan come from the younger vines planted at the Cru Classé estate Château Carbonnieux. The benefit of this collaboration is undeniable: These vines are farmed with the care and precision that normally goes into crafting bottles three times the price!

Jesús Puelles is one of the most talented vignerons in Rioja. Hailing from a long line of vineyard worker/owners, Puelles knows the terruño in his little slice of land in the Rioja Alta town of Abalos. Most of the grapes for his red wines come from his own 20 hectares, which are north-facing and located at 600 meters in altitude, affording the visitor with one of the most dramatically beautiful views of Rioja's main mountain ranges: the Sierra Cantabria mountains immediately to the north and the Sierra de la Demanda mountains to the south. This white win...

Château de la Charrière is one of our most popular direct import producers and a label that easily represents the best bang for your buck we carry in Burgundy. As Neal Martin writes: "Nuiton-Beaunoy is a co-operative of around 115 growers in the Cotes and Hautes Cotes. Anyone who has driven south from Beaune would have passed their enormous facility at the roundabout leading to either Meursault or Pommard." Their wines offer the best of collectives: Excellent value wines made from grapes hand-tended by devoted small farmers.

Vinous: "The 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo is a very pretty, accessible wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Crushed flowers, red berry fruit, mint, orange peel, spice and rose petal are nicely lifted in this mid-weight yet deep Langhe Nebbiolo. The 2022 was done entirely in tank. (AG)" (11/2023)

96 points James Halliday: "All P58 clone from '80 and '82 plantings. Whole-bunch pressed to 500L puncheons (about 20% new). No lees stirring. A touch brighter and deeper in colour than the Hazeldene. Sexy stuff from the first whiff with its aromas of stone fruits, acacia honey and grilled nuts. Glides effortlessly across the silken-textured palate. You know it will age well, but this is an Oakridge chardonnay that you won't need to wait too long to enjoy. *Gold*" (02/2024) 96 points James Suckling: "From the oldest vineyard at this address, planted in ...

Winemaker Anthony Girard grew up in his family's Sancerre winery, but spent a number of years learning about wine production all over the world before returning home to continue working with Sauvignon Blanc. While helping with the namesake Girard label, Anthony wanted to create his own project on the side and eventually purchased a small plot of pristine real estate near the town of Récy, with primo Sancerre limestone soils. After acquiring the vines, he was given a large key as a symbolic gesture of new ownership, a "clef du récit," which became the nam...

The 2022 is laced with raspberry jam, ripe blackberry, gravel and leafy elements. Earthy scents add further contrast. Concentrated and refreshing, this is a medium-bodied Crozes-Hermitage with absolutely no hard edges. Finca Garabato is a parcel of Valtea's oldest wines. This wine spends a year in tank with extended lees contact. This gives the wine a lovely richness, which really ramps up the flavor and textural qualities of the wine. Still refreshing, only richer than the regular Valtea bottling and ready to take on a meal.

94 points John Gilman: "The 2022 Clos de la Roilette “regular bottling” is truly exceptional in this vintage. The bouquet is deep, pure and sappy, wafting from the glass in a mix of sweet cassis, black plums, dark chocolate, gamebird, dark soil tones, violets, a touch of brown spices and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is deep, focused and full-bodied, with bottomless depth of sappy black fruit at the core, superb soil signature and grip, ripe tannins and a very long, complex and impeccably balanced finish. This has a lovely ve...

A warm weather superstar, this is 100% Vermentino. Domaine Petroni lies on the eastern shore of Corsica near Lake Diane, one of the great sources for oysters and mussels on the island. Founded in 1885 and run by the Ramazotti brothers, the vineyards are planted on sandy and clay soils overlooking the Mediterranean. Their rosé was one of our great success stories this year, but the white and red have emerged as house favorites as well.

Since 1875, the Vigneau-Chevreau family has farmed the chalky soils of this 69-acre Vouvray domaine, planted entirely to Chenin Blanc. Jean-Michel Vigneau began steering the family domaine in an organic direction in the early ’90s and by 1999 Vigneau-Chevreau received its biodynamic certification from Ecocert. The most disciplined of organic cultures, tenets of biodynamics include the natural harnessing of universal forces, scheduling specific vineyard work according to the Maria Thun lunar calendar, and use of homeopathic preparations on both vines and ...

Allen Meadows of Burghound writes: "Jacques Bavard is a former Paris restauranteur and a fifth generation Puligny winemaker. He lives in the old stone house of his grandfather on the Grand Rue. However, he is not farming his family vines but has become a micro-négoce working closely with several growers. Bavard prefers early picking since he believes Burgundy needs nervous energy to better display its terroir. He works with a mix of conventionally-sized barrels and with 350 liter barrels with the goal of obtaining more volume on the mid-palate but with l...

The characteristic salty impression is strong here, making this mouthwatering, appetising and every so delicious. With its weighty mouthfeel, its ripe citrus and stone fruit character, and its honeyed complexity, this would work well at the table. It still has a fresh lick of lime and grapefruit to keep it zesty, too. Yum. (NE)" (08/2023) K&L Notes: Domaine de Petit Roubie was established by O...

Château L’Avocat is from the small commune of Cérons, which is located just north of Barsac and Sauternes in the southern Graves appellation. I met Nicola Allison in Napa Valley at a small conference of Women from Bordeaux and Napa Valley. She followed my advice by sending her wines to our hotel in April to be tasted, and Clyde and I liked them. I followed up by visiting the estate almost eight weeks later and was given a tour of their gravelly vineyards by her husband Sean, who manages the vines.

93 points James Suckling: "I like this. Unexpectedly fresh shiraz, full-weighted, detailed and impeccably poised. Bravo. A hint of reduction on the nose sashays effortlessly to clove, star anise and dusty riffs on turmeric and curry powder, before violets, blue fruits and iodine play a more typically regional shiraz card. This is my favorite wine of the recent suite in terms of sheer drinkability. Younger vines, longer extraction and superior tannins to the rest, the result. Crunch, sass and power all in one. Drink or hold. " (11/2023) 92 points Wine A...

93 points Wine & Spirits: "Very healthy fruit nearly sidelined the sorting table at Sclavos in 2022. A mix of estate-grown and purchased grapes, from elevations ranging from 2,130 to 2,800 feet above sea level, this wine is ripe and broad, with subtle notes of citrus. But, primarily, it is a message of minerality, with limestone savor earning the name 'wine of stone.'" The Thibon family acquired the Libian property in 1670, and in 1970 Jean-Pierre Thibon decided to wholly focus on wine production. Since then the estate has grown to 25 hectares of vineyards and 8 hectares of "nourishing" land planted to olive trees, vegetable and flower gardens, and grains to support the organic and biodynamic viticulture. Mas de Libian began its biodynamic farming in 2005 and was shortly certified by Demeter afterwards.
