94 points John Gilman: "The 2022 Clos de la Roilette “regular bottling” is truly exceptional in this vintage. The bouquet is deep, pure and sappy, wafting from the glass in a mix of sweet cassis, black plums, dark chocolate, gamebird, dark soil tones, violets, a touch of brown spices and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is deep, focused and full-bodied, with bottomless depth of sappy black fruit at the core, superb soil signature and grip, ripe tannins and a very long, complex and impeccably balanced finish. This has a lovely ve...

91 points Int'l Wine Review: "The 2022 Les Roches Sauvignon is bright and lively, this beings with vivid aromas of lychee, lime zest, wet stones and white floral notes all bursting from the glass. On the palate this is nicely balanced with a lovely combination of bright acidity and fresh tropical fruits all leading up to the mouthwatering finish. (JD)" (02/2023) K&L Notes: This Sauvignon Blanc from Touraine displays an intense, classic nose of cut grass, pepper and, believe it or not, pineapple and lemon, with plenty of minerality. Very crisp and refre...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "A composition of 70% Grenache, 25% Syrah and 5% Cinsault, this wine sits in the glass with a pretty ruby hue. The nose delivers a violet and lavender bouquet with a layer of wild strawberry and black licorice. The palate is charming with just gentle tannins that support earthy brown mushroom and a squeeze of fresh cherries. (ACC)" (11/2024) K&L Notes: The Verquière estate has been passed down from father to son for four generations and is now managed by Thibaut Chamfort. Following age-old traditions and sustainable practices...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine has a nose of black raspberry, pencil shavings, violet blossom, pomegranate and hibiscus. Your lips will pucker into a smile, not because of the acidity but because of the balance between the acidity and tannic structure that pulls you in, while in perfect balance with the faintest herbal undertones that push the wine into the heavenly zone. *Best Buy8 (RS)" (04/2024) K&L Notes: A rich ruby red with notes of violets and red berry fruits, this Cabernet Franc is nicely layered on the palate with brightness running th...

This is a lively and classic Bourgogne from the warm, generous 2023 vintage. The year was hot overall, with excellent growing conditions leading to regional bottlings (like this one) that far overdeliver in terms of value.

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "An impressively rich wine, this is a dense, spicy wine packed with black fruits. The wood aging for 12 months has polished the tannins and brightened the acidity. (RV)" (04/2024) K&L Notes: Vigneron Hervé Joyaux Fabre began his career as a Bordeaux merchant but the wines of Argentina began to gain his attention. Falling in love with the category, he purchased his winery in Mendoza and created in Fabre Montmayou in 1992. Gaining much success there it was not until 2015 when Fabre turned his sight back to the birthplace of Mal...

A warm weather superstar, this is 100% Vermentino. Domaine Petroni lies on the eastern shore of Corsica near Lake Diane, one of the great sources for oysters and mussels on the island. Founded in 1885 and run by the Ramazotti brothers, the vineyards are planted on sandy and clay soils overlooking the Mediterranean. Their rosé was one of our great success stories this year, but the white and red have emerged as house favorites as well.

As Neal Martin writes: "Nuiton-Beaunoy is a co-operative of around 115 growers in the Cotes and Hautes Cotes. Anyone who has driven south from Beaune would have passed their enormous facility at the roundabout leading to either Meursault or Pommard." Their wines offer the best of collectives: Excellent value wines made from grapes hand-tended by devoted small farmers.

Winemaker Anthony Girard grew up in his family's Sancerre winery, but spent a number of years learning about wine production all over the world before returning home to continue working with Sauvignon Blanc. While helping with the namesake Girard label, Anthony wanted to create his own project on the side and eventually purchased a small plot of pristine real estate near the town of Récy, with primo Sancerre limestone soils. After acquiring the vines, he was given a large key as a symbolic gesture of new ownership, a "clef du récit," which became the nam...

This is a wonderful inflation-busting white from Burgundy, the region that put Chardonnay on the map! Nos Jolies is made at a cooperative winemaking facility located in the town of Beaune, the dividing line between Côte de Beaune to the south and Côte de Nuits to the north. This coop can trace its origins over three generations and has many amazing partners farming vineyard sites throughout the Mâconnais and Côte d’Or. Since 1875, the Vigneau-Chevreau family has farmed the chalky soils of this 69-acre Vouvray domaine, planted entirely to Chenin Blanc. Jean-Michel Vigneau began steering the family domaine in an organic direction in the early ’90s and by 1999 Vigneau-Chevreau received its biodynamic certification from Ecocert. The most disciplined of organic cultures, tenets of biodynamics include the natural harnessing of universal forces, scheduling specific vineyard work according to the Maria Thun lunar calendar, and use of homeopathic preparations on both vines and ...

91-93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Not yet bottled and based on 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and the rest Mourvèdre, the 2022 Ventoux Domaine has a pure, up-front, perfumed, and medium-bodied style as well as terrific aromatics of black raspberries, blackberries, spring flowers, and smoky, scorched earth-like minerality. " (10/2023) 91 points James Suckling: "he big black fruit has excellent youthful freshness and the tannins are enough to give this full-bodied Rhone red a very clear line, but are not in the least dominant. He cultivated the vineyard and sold his production primarily to Henri Maire, one of the most prominent producers in Jura at that time. In 1982, Daniel made his first harvest in his own cellars and began to sell his wines to consumers. His first ever harvest earned him his first Gold Medal for his Chardonnay at the Jura Wine Contest. Joël Taluau was a fabulous grower in St-Nicolas de Bourgueil known for making some of the purest expressions of Cabernet Franc in the Loire, unmarred by the intrusion of oak. 90 points Vinous: "The 2022 Crozes-Hermitage Origine bursts with energy. Made of grapes from 30-year-old vines grown in a density of 5,500 per hectare, it comes in at 13.45% alcohol. The 2022 is laced with raspberry jam, ripe blackberry, gravel and leafy elements. Earthy scents add further contrast. Concentrated and refreshing, this is a medium-bodied Crozes-Hermitage with absolutely no hard edges. Château L’Avocat is from the small commune of Cérons, which is located just north of Barsac and Sauternes in the southern Graves appellation. I met Nicola Allison in Napa Valley at a small conference of Women from Bordeaux and Napa Valley. She followed my advice by sending her wines to our hotel in April to be tasted, and Clyde and I liked them. I followed up by visiting the estate almost eight weeks later and was given a tour of their gravelly vineyards by her husband Sean, who manages the vines.

94 points Decanter: "Golden yellow in colour, the aromas span ripe pineapple and candied lemon peel to creamy leesy richness, followed by intensely salty lemons. The characteristic salty impression is strong here, making this mouthwatering, appetising and every so delicious. With its weighty mouthfeel, its ripe citrus and stone fruit character, and its honeyed complexity, this would work well at the table. It still has a fresh lick of lime and grapefruit to keep it zesty, too. Yum. (NE)" (08/2023) K&L Notes: Domaine de Petit Roubie was established by O...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: " This wine straddles the fence between wanting you to like it and wanting to challenge you. Cherry cola surfaces on the nose along with strawberry cream, blueberry blossom and hibiscus. Grippy, drying tannins chime in on the palate buttressed by a smattering of chalk dust and lemon citrus peel. Pair with burgers, lamb chops or eggplant Parmesan. (RG) " (05/2024) K&L Notes: Nestled in the village of Verdigny, Domaine Tabordet was run by brothers Yvon and Pascal Tabordet, who took the reins back in 1981. This Chardonnay is produced by the three brothers Couillaud at the Château de la Ragotière, a few minutes from the Atlantic near the mouth of the Loire River, where the maritime climate is ideal for producing whites that are refreshing and bright. The Couillauds age most of this wine on its lees until bottling to add weight and texture with around 10% being barrel-fermented in French oak for the faintest touch of toastiness.

Like Sancerre but half the price! The Fournier family, with roots as deep as their vines in this region, seem to be related to just about everyone in some way. They've been farming and producing wines in Sancerre for generations. We are pleased to have been offered this wine, yet again, at such a great price. Soft, subtle mineral notes are wrapped up in aromatics of melon and citrus. Clean, bright and refreshing, this is a perfect little Sauvignon Blanc. The palate is medium-bodied combining succulent tannins, fine acidity and well-integrated oak with impressive substance on the finish. It needs a couple of years in bottle but you can already see the potential. (NM)" (05/2023)

Originating in the 13th century and once under the ownership of the Lords of Beaujeu, Château de Juliénas has long served as a wine estate. The northern section of the estate was reconstructed in the late 16th century. Featuring authentic vaulted cellars constructed from local stone in 1744, the Château has deep historical roots. In 1907, Thierry's great-grandfather, Claude Condemine, purchased the Château, renovated it, and enhanced the vineyards. Presently, the estate spans 40 hectares across Juliénas, Fleurie, and Moulin-à-Vent, making it the largest ...

Vitallis is a new "hidden gem" our buyers found in the Mâcon, where small producers fly under the radar. In classic Burgundian fashion, the Dutron family has been growing vines since 1835, and now owns some of the oldest and best parcels in the village of Fuissé in the Pouilly-Fuissé district. In the glass, the wines live up to the hype.

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This Sancerre wants you to know there are other regions in France producing Pinot Noir that deserve your attention. Rich, bruised black cherry opens on the nose along with black raspberry, hibiscus and dried cranberry. Assertive black fruit is more subdued on the palate while offering complexity and depth that leads into a finish that never seems to end. *Editor's Choice* (RS)" (12/2024) K&L Notes: The wines of Aurore Dezat are a regular feature in our wine club offerings, and her vibrant Sancerre is an easy favorite among K...

Henri Le Roy is a first generation winemaker who began his original career as a biologist in Paris. But after falling in love with Burgundy, he found that he did not possess Burgundy money - so he decided to look further east, to the Jura, where he saw similar potential, but a little more affordable lands to begin his second career in wine. His first vintage was 2005, and he has continued to evolve and grow as a winemaker for the past decade-plus. Henri prefers to make ouille-styled wines (topped off barrels), as opposed to the traditional oxidative, o...

Josh Raynolds of Vinous writes: "For sheer value in Beaujolais it’s hard to beat the wines from Jean-Michel Dupré, whose domain boasts a large proportion of old vine plantings, some over a century old. Dupré started off with a mere two hectares of vines in Beajeau that he inherited from his father. Over the last two decades Dupré has restored an old barn in Les Ardillats, just west and slightly north of Villié-Morgon, into a winery and increased his holdings to 14 hectares of vineyards, mostly in Morgon and neighboring Régnié. The wines, which possess th...
