This blend of 2/3 Pinot Noir and 1/3 Chardonnay comes exclusively from the Brochet families estate in the premier cru of Ecuiel on the mountain of Reims. It is dosed at just five grams per liter and sees 10% barrel fermentation. This exceptional vintage Champagne reminds me of some of the best 1988s that I tasted when they were young. This is streamlined, elegant and graceful Champagne with beautiful pain au levin toast and savory dark cherry Pinot power. If you like this as much as I do, it is worth getting some to age. “Classic” vintages like this are ...

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Chambolle-Musigy Les Fremières Vieilles Vignes has a very attractive bouquet with vivacious scents of cranberry, strawberry pastilles and cold, wet limestone. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a firm, almost Morey-like entry. It feels grainy in the mouth, very limestone in character with a touch of Sichuan pepper on the finish that leaves a tingling residue. There is plenty of personality here, completing what is a fine Chambolle-Musigny. Tasted Septem...

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An attractively fresh nose offers up notes of pepper, various red berries and soft earth nuances. There is both good energy and detail to the delicious middle weight flavors that exhibit only a mild trace of austerity on the relatively supple finish though there is enough tannin present to reward a few years of cellaring." (04/2016) John Gilman: "The 2014 Cuvée Exception is marvelously red fruity and vibrant this year, and this will make a lovely middleweight that would be great fun to sneak into a blind tasting of Cru Beauj...

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Vosne Romanée 1Er Cru les Malconsorts has an elegant, refined bouquet with mineral-tinged red berry fruit, composed and a little backward but nicely focused. There is class here. The palate is supple on the entry with fine tannin, silky smooth in texture, very harmonious and nicely structured on the finish. This is a subtle Malconsorts, one that should not be underestimated. (NM)" (12/2015) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a rich, smoky and structured wine. Black fruit and dark tannins form a den...

This wine is the same as that sold under the Ponsot label, except for the paper sticker on the bottle. It even has his proprietary glass and comes from the same 100+ year-old vines, as well as being vinified in the same cellar. Oh, and the price—a fraction of that under Ponsot's own label. Such are the joys of share-cropping. The Ponsot wine received 94-96 points and praise from Neal Martin in Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Clos St Denis Très Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru takes its time to open in the glass, but eventually offers raspberry preserve, wild strawberr...

Camus is an underrated domaine with good grand cru holdings in Gevrey-Chambertin. It's existed, more or less, since 1732, but mostly after the phylloxera epidemic, when Joseph Camus purchased abandoned vineyards. The wines are not filtered, so you'll often find sediment, but this ensures that every iota of flavor from the grape makes it into the final wine. "The prices at this domaine are down-right reasonable," according to the Burgundy Report. "Tasted at the domaine as a ‘family,’ each wine is interesting and follows the hierarchy – there’s a clear di...

Bid on this bottle of 2014 Domaine Faiveley Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru ((92-95BH), 94WS, (90-93VN)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is enough reduction present to suppress the underlying fruit. On the plus side there is a lovely sense of tension to the very fresh, focused and overtly powerful big-bodied flavors that possess both first-class volume and precision, all wrapped in a youthfully austere and explosively long finale. The tannins are relatively fine-grained for the appellation but note well that this is a take-no-prisoners example and as such it would be pointless to open a bottle before its 10th birthday. " (01/2016)
Starting Bid: $90.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2014 Domaine J-F Mugnier Chambolle-Musigny (91VN, 90RP). Vinous: "Bright medium red. Compelling perfume of raspberry, flowers, game and leather, still with a touch of reduction. Tactile and vibrant in the mouth, with complex flavors of red berries, flowers and flint accented by soil and light veggie nuances. Not as thick as the young 2015 but a wonderfully expressive and complete village wine. Finishes saline and sweet, with fine-grained tannins and superb length and soil character. Frederic Mugnier noted that this wine can be kept for a long time but emphasized that it "doesn't benefit as much from aging as the crus do." (ST)" (03/2017)
Starting Bid: $480.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Domaine Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos St-Jacques" (95JS, 94WE, 93RP, 93VN, 93WS, 91BH). James Suckling: "So floral, like a bouquet of flowers. Fills the glass. Full-bodied, yet beautifully balanced and subtle. Such purity of fruit and polish. I can't wait on this. Drink or hold. Will age beautifully." (04/2017)
