Camus is an underrated domaine with good grand cru holdings in Gevrey-Chambertin. It's existed, more or less, since 1732, but mostly after the phylloxera epidemic, when Joseph Camus purchased abandoned vineyards. The wines are not filtered, so you'll often find sediment, but this ensures that every iota of flavor from the grape makes it into the final wine. "The prices at this domaine are down-right reasonable," according to the Burgundy Report. "Tasted at the domaine as a ‘family,’ each wine is interesting and follows the hierarchy – there’s a clear di...

95 points Vinous: "The 2014 Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard bristles with energy. Rose petal, mint, white pepper and blood orange give the Alpine its super-appealing aromatic upper register, but there is plenty of depth lurking beneath. Here the flavors are bright and nicely focused, while the richness of the vintage is mostly felt in the dense, potent finish. (AG)" (07/2016) 94 points John Gilman: "The 2014 Alpine Vineyard Pinot Noir from Rhys is another outstanding young bottle of Pinot, with its whole clusters showing a bit today, but all of the constitu...

93 points Vinous: "The 2014 Pinot Noir Thieriot Vineyard Estate is arguably the most reticent of the Littorai 2014s. There is good energy and freshness, but the Thieriot is not as well put together as it was last year. My impression is that the 2014 is still going through a phase of bottle shock. I tasted two bottles, neither of which was as expressive or pure as this wine has shown in the past. 93+ (AG)" (03/2017) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir B.A. Thieriot Vineyard has a seriously peppery no...

92 points Vinous: "The 2014 Pinot Noir Estate Reserve is a blend of old-vine fruit from various parcels around the Hirsch property. The Reserve is quite powerful and deep, but naturally it does not speak with the singularity of most of the other wines in this range. There is certainly plenty to like in the Reserve. I find greater focus and direction in some of the other wines. Scents of dried cherry, mint and crushed flowers linger on the close. (AG)" (03/2017) 92 points Wine & Spirits: "Based on the top-performing old-vine parcels throughout the Hirsc...

94 points Vinous: "A gorgeous wine, the 2014 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard is aromatic, nuanced and super-finessed. Rose petal and sweet red berry notes make a strong first impression. Even so, the Platt is quite nervous and tightly wound at this stage. For that reason, I would prefer to cellar it for at least a few years. The purity of the flavors is striking, but readers will have to be patient. A closing blast of dark red/blue fruit, flowers and firm tannins portends a bright future. (AG) 94+" (03/2017)
