2012 Barde-Haut, St-Émilion
Top Pick!
93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Lots of chocolate, mocha, darker fruits, and dried herb-like notes emerge from the 2012 Château Barde-Haut, a medium to full-bodied, concentrated 2012. It's showing a touch of maturity yet still has plenty of tannins and structure, good mid-palate depth, and outstanding length. I continue to think 2012 was a great vintage for the Right Bank, and this certainly doesn't change my mind." (03/2020) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Offers lovely purity and mouthfeel, with notes of velvety plum, boysenberry and cherry preserves gliding easi...

2012 Lanessan, Haut-Médoc
Top Pick!
Wine Advocate: "A decent effort in this tough vintage for some of the Médoc wines, Lanessan’s 2012 has some nice suppleness to the tannin, cranberry and black cherry fruit, plum and blackcurrants. It is medium-bodied with earth, herbs and spice. Drink it over the next decade. (RP)" (04/2015) K&L Notes: * A very fruity and tasty style. Another great value from what Robert Parker calls a "consistent property that turns out wines that are often very close to classified-growth quality."

This Champagne is composed of 1/3 each Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier. All of the fruit is estate grown from the Ariston's vineyards in Brouillet — La Vallée Brouillet might be my very favorite place in all of Champagne. I love the rolling landscape, the mix of mustard, vineyard, and colza fields. But most of all I love the quiet peace of this secluded northwestern part of the region. This is the real countryside of Champagne! This area is known for the incredible diversity of fossilized shellfish that can be found in the fields here. The Ariston fa...

Alexandre Le Brun is a young winemaker from Monthelon in the Ardenne (Marne) region of Champagne. He is a ninth-generation winemaker. His family established themselves in Champagne in 1750 and their cellars were built in 1822. The delectable Dilection is based on the incredible 2012 vintage with 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier. Only French oak is used and the vineyard where the grapes are sourced for the red wine in this blend was planted in 1902. It is rich, but classically dry, with dark cherry and strawberry fruit on the lingering finish.

2012 Xanadu Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Margaret River Western Australia (1.5L)
New!
92 points James Suckling: "More black currants and spice, with hints of stone and fresh herbs. Full body, caressing and fine. Drink or hold. Screw cap. " (03/2016)
Price: $99.99

95 points Vinous: "Good full red. Wonderfully clean, enticing aromas of red cherry, minerals, white pepper, aromatic herbs and smoke. Sappy and densely packed, showing terrific mineral lift to the rich ripe red berry and saline flavors. Bright and focused on the long, slowly building finish. Beautiful wine. (ID)" (04/2018)
Price: $89.99

97 points Wine Spectator: "This goes from zero to 60 right out of the gate, with an intense spine of acidity driving tightly meshed flavors of crushed black currant, ground coffee, candied grapefruit peel and toasted almond. The profile expands on the palate, carried by the fine, raw silk–like mousse. Richly aromatic and expressive from start to lasting, spiced finish. *Ranked #10 Top 100 Wines of 2020, Highly Recommended* (AN)" (12/2020) 96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "While the 2012 La Grande Année doesn't match the magical 2008, it's not far off and has a s...

This wine is blended from two sites that are now being used to make single vineyard wines by Antoine and Quentin Paillard. Both are from their estate in the Grand Cru of Bouzy on the south-facing slope of the mountain of Reims. The Pinot Noir comes from a plot called Les Maillerettes, which was planted in 1970, and the Chardonnay comes from Les Mottelettes, planted in 1961. Both are the mother vines for the massal selections made in-house at Champagne Pierre Paillard and both vineyards are just .8 acres. Old vines like these, in a terroir as special as t...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Perfumey in lemon curd, this is a focused and fairly lean Chardonnay, crisp in lemony acidity and classic wet stone. Mango and lime surround a core of refreshing, intriguing ginger, and the palate offers creamy softness. A bite of fresh pear lingers on the finish. (VB)" (11/2014) 92 points Vinous: "Pale, bright yellow. Deeply pitched aromas of nutmeg, smoke and coconutty, vanillin oak, with citrus and stone fruit notes emerging with air. Showing more nutty vanillin oak today than the regular Dutton Ranch bottling but also mo...

2012 Peirson Meyer "Sullivan Vineyard" Russian River Valley Chardonnay
New!
93 points Vinous: "The 2012 Chardonnay Sullivan Vineyard is all about grace. Subtle, layered and utterly impeccable, the 2012 impresses for its balance and textural finesse. Hints of almond, spice, lemon oil and tangerine are all laced together in the glass. What a gorgeous and utterly impeccable wine this is. Peirson Meyer has done a terrific job with their first Chardonnay from Sullivan. Stylistically, this is the most understated of the 2012 Chardonnays here. 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Succulent and juicy in velvety waves of black-cherry cola, this is a delicious expression of Durell, with intriguing teases of truffle, black tea and forest floor. Concentrated and full bodied, it offers additional seasonings of cinnamon and black pepper, which persist through a long finish. Enjoyable now, this wine is structured to cellar through 2020. *Editors' Choice* (VB)" (09/2015)

" (02/2015) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This 1,000-acre estate with 140 acres of vines is close to Bordeaux and still family owned. With bitter chocolate flavor lying over the fruit, this needs some aging before it can properly integrate. Dark tannins and spice show at the end, along with juicy black-currant fruit. 95-97 points Burghound: "Interestingly this is even spicier with its own very broad array of spice elements that seemingly change with each whiff of the markedly ripe nose. The ripeness carries over to the dense, serious and overtly powerful big-bodied and imposingly scaled flavors that also possess seemingly unlimited reserves of palate coating dry extract that impart a velvety texture but also buffer the very firm tannins on the massively persistent finish. This is a big wine even by the outsized standards of a great Clos de la Roche yet the balance is...

98 points Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard RBS, which is also from Clone 337 but from different blocks on the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard, saw oak with 90% new Darnajou and 10% new Taransaud. This wine seems slightly more expansive, shares the black ruby/purple color with all of it siblings, and has a boatload of crème de cassis, incense, licorice, graphite and vanilla along with plenty of spice box and forest floor. This is a killer, full-bodied, super-duper, opulent Cabernet Sauvignon to drink over the next 20...

2012 Taittinger "Comtes de Champagne" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
99 points James Suckling: "This is a fantastic and refined Blanc de Blancs. So layered and complex, with lemon curd, chalk, hazelnuts, pastries, baked apples and almond croissants. Structured and tightly wound, with almost imperceptible bubbles. Delicious salty notes at the end. Beautiful. Drink or hold." (12/2022) 97 points John Gilman: "The 2012 vintage of Comtes de Champagne is one of the finest young examples of this iconic bottling I have had the pleasure to taste, though it will be a long distance runner and really is not even close to read to dr...

100 points Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Chardonnay Marcassin Vineyard, which will probably be released in a few months, displays great minerality, notes of honeysuckle, orange marmalade, poached pear, and white flowers as well as a touch of quince. A wine of great intensity, yet incredible ethereal elegance, this light greenish gold-colored wine is full-bodied, stunningly rich, and altogether remarkable. When you consider that they use 100% new French oak and 100% heavy toast for both their Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs, it is remarkable how little oak appears...

95 points Wine Advocate: "The top wine from the portfolio, the 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvee Anonyme offers thrilling purity and focus in its lively dark fruits, roasted meats and underbrush-scented bouquet. Full-bodied, ripe and textured, with fantastic polish and sweetness to its tannin, it has a supple, forward feel, yet will easily evolve for 10-15 years. This is another impressive lineup from oenolgist Xavier Vignon, who works with the likes of Raymond Usseglio, Le Nerthe, Marcoux and Grand Veneur, to name a few. These are all negociant wines, but...

James Suckling: "Lots of strawberry and cherry character. Medium body and a light finish." (02/2015) K&L Notes: From Jean-Luc Thunevin, founder of Château Valandraud.
Price: $11.99

92-94 points Vinous: "Bright, medium ruby-red. Brooding aromas of cassis, black cherry, minerals, smoke and licorice are lifted by a violet topnote. Densely packed, ripe and seamless, with lovely depth and complexity to its claret-like flavors of currant, minerals and tobacco leaf. Really spreads out to saturate the palate on the long back end, which features building tannins and persistent sweetness of fruit. This very harmonious wine promises to be fat and rich for Viader's flagship blend. (ST)" (05/2014) 93 points James Suckling: "A juicy and rich w...

2012 Girard "Artistry" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Back In Stock!
Price: $34.99

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Barrel sample. Powerful and fruity, this finely situated chateau on the edge of the slopes of Saint-Émilion has produced a brightly fruity wine typical of the year. It's a wine that's ripe with berries, soft tannins and great juiciness. (RV)" (04/2013) 90 points Vinous: "The 2012 Berliquet is quite attractive. Succulent dark cherries, menthol, licorice and new leather are all pushed forward. The 2012 is open-knit and generous, with good up-front appeal, and enough underlying structure to drink well for at least a decade, per...

From former race car driver Randy Lewis's Napa Valley vineyards, this is the super-charged version of the winery's highly regarded Cabernets. 100% Cabernet and brimming with ripe dark plum, mocha, and finishes with polished, silky tannins. This is one of K&L's favorite Napa producers, and these folks know their Cabernet.

93 points Vinous: "Revana's 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Cold Springs Vineyard, from a site on Howell Mountain, is laced with black fruit, smoke, French oak and cedar. The style is rich, ripe and racy, but with good underlying structure and enough fruit to nearly bury the Howell Mountain tannins. (AG) " (10/2014) K&L Notes: Revana Estate is located in the heart of St. Helena, where high elevation and well-draining alluvial soils provide the ideal terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cold Springs Vineyard, the source for this bottling, on Howell Mountain sit...

2012 Octomore (Bruichladdich) 10 Year Old "Dramfool's Jim McEwan Signature Collection 6.3" First Fill Bourbon Barrel Cask #4354 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Top Pick!
Jim McEwan: "Aromas - Opens on a stormy November day walking on the West Coast with gigantic waves blowing in from the West, then the sweetness of the barley sugar comes forward in harmony with the spicy sweetness from the bourbon soaked staves on its 1st fill. The peat smoke and the spice, plus its maturation a stones throw from the Atlantic Ocean create a truly spiritual olfactory experience. Palate - Like no other single malt, it’s smoky but there is much more to be discovered. With a dash of water and time to let it settle, you will be rewarded with ...

97 points Vinous: "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Backus Vineyard has really blossomed over the last year. A glorious, towering Cabernet Sauvignon offers super depth an intensity, with the voluptuous personality of the vintage on full display. Sweet red cherry, pomegranate, mocha and espresso all flesh out in the glass. The Backus is not as open nor expressive as the Insignia is today, but it is tremendous in its beauty and overall pedigree. This is a terrific example of contemporary Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This is the last vintage made from the vin...

100 points Wine Advocate: "A perfect wine any way you look at it, the 2012 Grenache Rattrapante comes all from the Eleven Confessions Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills and spent 33 months in 27% new French oak. My notes start - and end - with “Wow.” Giving up tons of black raspberries, peppery herbs, licorice, dried flowers and cured meats, it’s a massively concentrated, rich and layered Grenache that somehow manages to stay graceful, lively and fresh on the palate. There are roughly 800 cases of this elixir and any Grenache lover should do their best to l...

96 points Vinous: "The 2012 Barolo Lazzarito impresses for its precision and class, two qualities that aren't easy to find in wines from this Serralunga site. Iron, smoke and white pepper lift from the glass in a vertical, structured Barolo endowed with real pedigree. A rush of pomegranate, red cherry jam, wild flowers and blood orange meld into the huge, bright finish. In 2012, the Lazzarito reconciles power and finesse like few vintages in the past. For the last few years, the Lazzarito has been knocking on the door of the big boys in this lineup, the ...

95 points Wine Advocate: "The Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru les Feusselottes is much more backward, broodier on the nose compared to the les Chaignots, the fruit slightly darker with blackberry mixed with raspberry, a hint of mulberry and undergrowth developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with firmer tannin than the Chaignots, a little more masculine with very fine acidity, a touch of salinity coming toward the finish that lingers long in the mouth. There is something crystalline about this Chambolle-Musigny that is just exceptional. (NM)" (06/...

2012 Jeff Cohn Cellars "Stagecoach Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
New!
91 points Wine Advocate: "Another tiny production effort, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, harvest on October 16, that was aged 18 months in 80% new French oak. There were a little more than 200 cases made. The wine exhibits classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon notes of cassis, red plum, California bay leaf, licorice, graphite and hints of toasted spice to go with a medium+-bodied, elegant, nicely focused feel on the palate. Beautifully done, balanced, layered and fresh, with solid underlying structure, it can be con...
