Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of my favorite wines, and up there with the top dozen or so efforts in the vintage, the 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Les Petits Pieds d’Armand comes all from sandy soils and old vines planted in the famed La Crau lieu-dit. Full-bodied, voluptuous and layered, it doesn’t pull any punches, yet never seems over-the-top, heavy or cumbersome. Bid on this magnum of 2012 Chimère (Sine Qua Non) Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (OWC - 99RP) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "We finished the tasting with the inky-purple 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape. A cellar selection by Manfred Krankl (of Sine Qua Non) of mostly Mourvedre, yet with a splash of Grenache and even some white varieties, it was aged in two new 300-liter French oak barrels before being bottled (in magnum only) unfined and unfiltered. It’s a massive, masculine and structured Chateauneuf du Pape that needs to be tasted to be believed. Cassis, creamy licorice, jammy blackberry and crushed flowers are only a few of the nuances here, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, incredible mid-palate depth and a blockbuster finish that just won’t quit. The level of concentration here surpasses just about every other wine in the vintage, and yet it never seems heavy, cumbersome or over-the-top. (JD)" (10/2014)

Vinous: "The 2012 Ovid belongs to a group of vintages that includes 2007 and 2009 where the main characteristic is bold, racy fruit. A host of red cherry, pomegranate, smoke, licorice and tobacco wrap around the palate. Juicy, racy and flamboyant to the core, the 2012 needs a few years to lose some baby fat and develop aromatic complexity, but it is impressive. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Maybe the finest wine from here (that I’ve tasted anyway), the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Champoux Vineyard is a thrilling blend of almost all Cabernet (there’s 2% Malbec) that exhibits, fresh, lively and pure notes of cassis, black raspberry, violets, toasted bread and spring flowers. Coming from one of the top terroirs in Washington, this full-bodied, elegant and layered Cabernet has no hard edges, impeccable balance and a great finish. Jeb Dunnuck: "Checking in as a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc that hit 14.3% alcohol, the 2012 Dominus is a sensational wine that certainly ranks with the all-time greats of this cuvée and is reminiscent of the 1991. Ripe, flamboyant, and incredibly sexy, it nevertheless shows the classic style of this estate, has nothing out of place and just glides across the palate. Blackcurrants, tobacco leaf, cedar box, new leather, and an almost garrigue-like character all emerge from this full-bodied, silky, seamless effort that has fine tannin, perfectly integrated acidity, tannins, alcohol, and a great, great finish. Drink it any time over the coming 2-3 decades. It's a tour de force in Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and one of the greats. 99+" (01/2019)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This large estate of 131 acres has been run brilliantly by a Belgian family, the Bonnies since their acquisition a number of years ago. The quality of the white and red have soared to exceptional heights, and this is certainly still one of the more realistically priced wines of Pessac-Lèognan and classified crus. The 2012 is a beauty, with a dense ruby/purple color, a fabulously plush, opulent texture and medium to full-bodied flavors of cassis, spicy earth and blueberry. Quite rich, yet light on its feet, this is an absolutely textbook Pessac-Lèognan, with wonderfully velvety tannins. Drink it now, or drink it in 25 years. This is a brilliant wine. (RP)" (04/2015)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A much bigger, richer Pinot Noir, the 2012 Pinot Noir Ten is a cellar selection chosen with the focus on structure and richness. Brought up in 65% new French oak, it has sensational purity and depth in its sweet black raspberry, crushed violets, spice and subtle oak aromas and flavors. These all carry over to the palate where the wine is full-bodied, concentrated and textured, with notable tannic grip. Vinous: "Billaud's 2012 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre is totally weightless yet also remarkably precise. Lemon zest, grapefruit, white flowers, crushed rocks and mint wrap around a core of bright, saline-infused fruit. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This cuvée ratchets up the levels of structure and tannin, but shares similar notes of blackberries, blueberries, floral, forest floor and spice. It is a broad-flavored, multidimensional wine built like a skyscraper. However, unlike the regular Cabernet Sauvignon, this offering requires patience because of some significant tannin. Vinous: "The 2012 Pinot Noir Falstaff is the most overtly perfumed, savory wine in the range, the result of a cool micro-climate and the use of 100% whole clusters. The 2012 has closed down a bit since it was bottled, but it should re-emerge in another year or two. While the McDougall Ranch is up-front and powerful, the Falstaff is all about aromatics, acidity and energy. Bid on this magnum of 2012 Joseph Drouhin Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru (1.5L) (94RP, 92BH, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru from Joseph Drouhin was another Clos-de-Bèze (alongside that of Chanson's) that completely surpassed its showing out of barrel. It has a clean and refined bouquet with cola-tinged red berry fruit (cranberry leaf and raspberry) with touches of rooibos and bergamot emerging just behind. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannin, impressive depth but with some new oak that clearly needs to be assimilated. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, Realm’s perfect 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard exhibits a La Mission Haut-Brion-like bouquet of blueberries, scorched earth, burning embers and spring flowers, a dense, opulent, full-bodied mouthfeel, and a staggeringly long, multidimensional, 60-second finish. It can be drunk with enormous pleasure now, but promises to evolve for at least a quarter of a century. For historical buffs, the Dr. Crane Vineyard is named after a real doctor, who first planted the vineyard in 1858. Explosively perfumed cherry-cola, dark berry liqueur, incense and mineral aromas show superb clarity and depth, with a sexy floral quality building with air. Offers palate-staining black raspberry and spicecake flavors that become sweeter and deeper with air. This rich but strikingly lithe and tensile pinot deftly plays power and depth off of vivacity and finishes sweet, youthfully tannic and extremely long. Its deep ruby color is followed by a full-bodied, rich and layered 2012 that boasts fabulous notes of creme de cassis, lead pencil shavings, graphite, mineral and toasted bread. Like all of Chris's 2012s, it's still a baby, yet its impeccable balance and purity allow it to dish out tons of pleasure, even today. Vinous: "Just bottled yesterday, the 2012 Pinot Noir Abbey Harris Vineyard is understantably a bit tightly wound. Still, the wine's characteristic slightly earthy, brambly qualities come through in the glass. The 2012 offers lovely depth and persistence, but it is also a bit less polished from a flavor perspective than some of the other wines in the range. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "They appear to be immune to some of winedom’s less than intelligent trends and fads that we see from time to time, and the result is a spectacular 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon 40th Anniversary offering. Its dense purple/black color is followed by copious quantities of crème de cassis and blackberry fruit, silky tannins, a voluptuous texture and stunning purity as well as length. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2012 Aubert "UV-SL Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir ((93-95RP), 95VN). Vinous: "The 2012 Pinot Noir UV-SL Vineyard is the most complete of these Pinots. It is also by far the most intense. Dark red cherry, plum, spice and menthol notes all take shape in the glass. The style is broad, ample and super-ripe. Amazingly, with time in the glass, the wine comes together very nicely, but it really does need a lot of time. A juicy, boisterous finish rounds things out. The UV-SL is the Pinot that most clearly defines Mark Aubert's deeply personal approach to Pinot Noir. (AG)" (02/2014)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Pinot Noir Marcassin Vineyard, which comes primarily from the Calera clone (although I suspect there are a few mystery clones in their plantings), always seems to remind me of a grand cru from Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits, particularly Morey-St.-Denis. Dense ruby/plum, its sweet nose of strawberries, black cherry liqueur, fresh porcini mushrooms and forest floor is followed by a dark, full-bodied, rich and concentrated wine that is supple, dramatic, and even flamboyant. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2012 Ridge Vineyards "Estate" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (94VN, 92RP, 91W&S). Vinous: "Ridge's 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate may very well be the single finest value in California Cabernet Sauvignon in its price range. Rich and explosive, with plenty of vintage 2012 exuberance, the Estate Cabernet hits the palate with masses of dark, concentrated fruit that nearly buries the mountain tannins. There is plenty of tension, beneath although 2012 remains radiant and incredibly appealing today. Shades of tar, graphite and smoke add darkness on the finish. The 2012 could use a few years in bottle to shed some of its baby fat, but it is remarkable by any measure. I don't think there is a finer California Cabernet Sauvignon today at this price, but if there is, I would like to taste it. (AG)" (07/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stock" Central Coast Syrah (98RP, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A step up from the Grenache, the blockbuster-styled 2012 Syrah Stock checks in as a blend of 84% Syrah, 7% Grenache, 6% Petit Sirah, and the rest Viognier and Mourvedre, that was fermented with 32% whole clusters and aged in just over half new French oak. It offers stunning notes of blackcurrants, cassis, smoked meats, ground pepper and wild herbs to go with a full-bodied, unctuous, layered, yet always graceful and elegant feel on the palate. Nicely structured, with perfect overall balance, it still has the open-knit character of the vintage, yet has plenty of underlying structure, which at the moment is slightly hidden by the wine's lavish fruit. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2012 Andrew Will "Ciel du Cheval Vineyard" Red Mountain Washington Red Wine (95RP, 93WS, 92VN, 90W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another killer wine from Chris, the 2012 Ciel du Cheval Vineyard is made from 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc, all of which spent 18 months in 35% new French oak. It exhibits classic minerality and dried herbs to go with complex leather, lavender, currants and sweet black cherry fruit. This gives way to a full-bodied, big-boned and layered 2012 that has no shortage of tannin and a great mid-palate. From one of the top terroirs in Red Mountain and with roughly 900 cases produced, it’s one of those don’t miss wines, and even at the price, it’s still a great value. These latest 2012s from Chris Camarda are easily some of the best wines I’ve tasted from him and they have everything; texture, richness, balance and structure. (JD)" (06/2015)
