If you have enjoyed the wines of Lallement, Bollinger and Krug in the past, we think you will very much enjoy Michel Arnould. They are bold, masculine Champagnes with plenty of toasty flavor. This is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay, entirely from estate vineyards in the Grand Cru of Verzenay. Verzenay is the northernmost of all the Grand Crus in this northernmost of French wine regions. The whole village faces north—the wrong way, away from the sun—and yet miraculously ripens Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Some say it's because of a meteor that,...

2011 Highland Park 10 Year Old "K&L Exclusive" Cask #5434 First Fill European Oak Sherry Butt Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)
Top Pick!
It has been quite some time since we've had an official Highland Park Single Cask straight from the distillery and we are thrilled to offer this at the sharpest pricing we've seen in the program in years. This epic first fill full sized European oak sherry butt delivers a massive Orkeny experience at a whopping 66.1% ABV. The jewel of the Orkney Islands is famous for its heather peat offering a gentle floral toned smoke and its impeccable use of sherry maturation, both are on full display here.

2011 Bernadotte, Haut-Médoc
Back In Stock!
88-90 points Int'l Wine Cellar: "(52% cabernet sauvignon, 43% merlot, 3% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot): Bright red. Aromatic nose of red berries, sweet spices, cedar and dusty minerals. Sweet, soft and clean, with red berry flavors dominating. Finishes with harmonious acidity and very good length. This is the best vintage of Bernadotte in some time: in 2011 the higher clay content of the soil and the later-ripening site allowed this wine to develop very good intensity and depth of flavor. Though it may surprise some to read this, in 2011 Ber...

90 points Vinous: "The 2011 The Bard is soft, floral and easygoing, with lovely bright red berry fruit. Wild flowers, savory herbs and mint add freshness to this pretty, nuanced wine. The 2011 is super-expressive and very pretty, but it is also a bit lithe. I wouldn't push my luck too much further with aging. All things considered, the Bard is a fine effort in this very challenging vintage. (AG)" (03/2022) Wine Spectator: "Tight, rich and distinctive, offering a tannic mix of black licorice, damp earth and dried dark berry notes, with chewy tannins tha...

94 points John Gilman: "The Skyline Vineyard Pinot Noir from Kevin Harvey and his team at Rhys is just stellar in 2011, with its low octane personality (12.6% ABV!) delivering great minerality and nascent complexity on both the nose and palate. The wonderfully complex nose offers up a 'cool fruit' profile of cherries, beetroot, stony minerality, a touch of menthol, thyme, a bit of mustard seed, vinesmoke and a gentle base of new wood. On the palate the wine is pure, fullish and very intensely flavored, with a fine core of fruit, suave, seamless tannins, ...

95 points James Suckling: "A traditional beauty that effuses iron, warm earth and savory tobacco leaves, together with plums, spices and orange zest. This is juicy and still tight, with firm but savory tannins. Medium-weight and quite zesty in texture, as is the case with the other López de Heredia reds tasted this session." (06/2022) 95 points Tim Atkin: "Aged for nearly six years in very old barrels, Tondonia is one of Rioja's most proudly traditional wines. Tempranillo dominated, with 20% Garnacha and 5% of both Graciano and Mazuelo, this is compl...

This magnum was aged an additional five years compared to the 750 before release! It was made in the most expensive way possible and is composed of half each chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The entire Brison estate is organic, and the wine is entirely barrel fermented. No detail is forgotten in making the vintage wines here, as the owner, Delphine Brulez, has a diploma in oenology. Only because of a direct buy are we able to offer a Champagne like this at such a fair price! -Gary Westby, K&L

93 points Vinous: "Darker shades of red fruit with purplish overtones emerge from the 2011 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard. Wonderfully chiseled and nuanced in the glass, the 2011 is one of the juicier, more overt wines in the range. Sweet floral and savory notes are woven into the resonant, expressive finish. (AG)" (02/2014) 92 points Int'l Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby-red. Lovely floral lift to the bright aromas of cassis, orange zest and spices. Juicy and light on its feet, offering delightful inner-mouth perfume and a suggestion of exotic fruits. Captivatin...

94 points Wine Advocate: "A blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and a splash of Syrah (10%) that was first made in 2010, the 2011 The Lovers has some solid Cayuse funk, with copious peat moss, herbs, mineral and violets balanced nicely by black-cherry-styled fruit. Medium to full-bodied, layered and nicely textured, it offers plenty of up-front appeal yet should also evolve gracefully. (JD)" (06/2014) 93 points Int'l Wine Cellar: "Bright medium red. Wild red fruits, smoke, pepper, flint and oyster shell on the nose; showing its Syrah side today. Then th...

94 points Vinous: "In keeping with the style of the year, the 2011 Barolo Monvigliero is a bit fleshier and more overt than it usually is. The aromatic signatures are very much present though, accentuated by the inclusion of 100% whole clusters. At the same time, the 2011 offers gorgeous depth and resonance, not to mention superb overall balance. Savory herbs, olives and herbs inform the pungent finish. Burlotto's Monvigliero remains one of the most distinctive and compelling wines being made in Barolo today. This is impressive juice. (AG)" (03/2015) 9...

95 points James Suckling: "A very complex, aged Rioja with savory plums, mushrooms, bark, red earth, orange peel and cedar. Quite juicy, fresh and bright on the palate with a tangy, zesty palate, full of berries and oranges. Firm, long and complex with a mouthwatering finish. Such a traditional taste! Drink now or hold." (09/2022) 92 points Wine Advocate: "2011 was a warmer and riper year, but there's not a huge difference between the 2011 Viña Bosconia Reserva and the 2010; this is perhaps mellower, with more integrated acidity. It's 13.5% alcohol wit...

93-96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Easily the most rich and concentrated, the 2011 Domaine de la Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes might just be the wine of the vintage. A blend of 85% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and the balance a mix of varieties, aged 25% in barrel (40% of which are new), it offers up aromas of blackberry liqueur, roasted meats, graphite, licorice, and wet stone-like minerality. Full-bodied, lavishly textured, fresh, and surprisingly structured, with big, mouth coating tannin and good acidity, it will be one of the few 2011s to require bott...

89-91 points Burghound: "More moderate though far from invisible wood surrounds notes of menthol and cool cherry aromas slides gracefully into supple, vibrant and attractively rich and mineral-driven middle weight flavors that possess a lovely mouth feel thanks to the relatively fine-grained tannins. Despite their fine grain the admirably long finish is notably firm and this will require most of a decade to arrive at its peak." (04/2013) 91 points John Gilman: "The 2011 Clos des Couchereaux is also outstanding, wafting from the glass in a classy mélang...

96 points Decanter: "A perfumed and refined nose of rose petal, orange rind, raspberry and coriander flower. This elegant nature continues through the palate, which is lacy and plush, but becomes quite rustic on the finish. Continues to evolve over hours and days, never showing itself the same way twice. Still laying in wait, although perfectly enjoyable now. (ML)" (01/2021) 95 points The Wine Independent: "A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 9% Petit Verdot, the 2011 Dominus is deep garnet in color. It springs from the glass with...

Vinous: "The 2011 Syrah Estate La Bruma is quite pretty, if a touch delicate in this vintage. Dark red cherries, plums, iron, orange zest and sweet floral notes meld together nicely. The mid-weight structure of the wine and the limitations of this site in cooler years are inescapable. (AG)" (02/2014)

Jim McEwan: "Colour - Primrose Yellow Aromas - Opens beautifully on a combination of Primrose, Myrtle, Lily, Marigold and mint. It’s like walking through the peat fires next to the Atlantic Ocean! Then the sweetness of the toasted barley and mellow oak drift in bringing with them little hints of bourbon spiciness laid down by the first spirit matured in the cask. “Its gentle on my mind” Taste - The spirit is balanced & restrained on the palate. This is pure Islay; No smoke, just barley & oak and time by the Ocean. The opulent flavours seduce...

Top Pick!
Jim McEwan: "Aromas - Opens beautifully on a brilliant combination of peat embers and a spicy sweetness encapsulated in a cradle of sweet mellow oak with a drift of the Ocean bringing a freshness seldom found in many whiskies matured full term by the Atlantic. Palate - The sweetness of the malted barley works wonderfully with the spiciness from the bourbon soaked staves. Add to that peat fire embers and the marine overture all held in a halo of mellow oak. It envelopes the taste buds like a warm peat fire on a stormy night as the wind and rain batters th...

Top Pick!
Jim McEwan: "Colour - Summer Barley Fields Aromas & Taste - It detonates on a combination of smoke, storm lashed seaweed and allspice, followed by the sweetness of charred oak sugars and the sweet spicy residue from the bourbon that first filled the cask. Its a unique olfactory experience, lots going on with the oak holding the big aromas in check and allowing the quality of distillate to shine through which also highlights the skills of the team who work away quietly without computers. They are seldom mentioned because that’s not the Islay way, let ...
