2008 Billecart-Salmon "Cuvée Elisabeth" Brut Rosé Champagne
Top Pick!
98 points Decanter: "Despite ageing on its lees for 10 years, it remains almost shockingly youthful, its vividly primary flavours of red cherry, strawberry and nectarine wrapped up in a taut, tense frame. It’s silky in texture and intricately complex on the long, elegantly harmonious finish, underlined by a saline chalkiness, and it demonstrates all the requisite completeness and character for long ageing, promising a slow and dignified evolution to come. (PL)" (05/2021) 98 points James Suckling: "This is very vinous with aromas of iron, strawberries, ...

2008 Piper-Heidsieck "Cuvée Rare" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
97 points Wine Spectator: "Like a stallion out of the gate, this shows an initial explosion of power, in the form of mouthwatering flavors and fine texture, before quickly settling into an elegant gait. The racy acidity is seamlessly knit, buoying the lacy mousse and flavors of cassis, toasted brioche and tangerine, with accents of candied ginger, hazelnut and fleur de sel lingering on the long, creamy finish. (AN)" (12/2020) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The newly released 2008 Brut Cuvée Rare is very promising, unwinding in the glass with...

2008 Billecart-Salmon "Cuvée Elisabeth" Brut Rosé Champagne (1.5L)
Back In Stock!
98 points Decanter: "A superb vintage of this renowned prestige cuvée, this is made from a base of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, to which is added 9% of red wine. Despite ageing on its lees for 10 years, it remains almost shockingly youthful, its vividly primary flavours of red cherry, strawberry and nectarine wrapped up in a taut, tense frame. It’s silky in texture and intricately complex on the long, elegantly harmonious finish, underlined by a saline chalkiness, and it demonstrates all the requisite completeness and character for long ageing, pro...

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Domaine Armand Rousseau Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Cazetiers" ((89-91BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Noticeable reduction renders the nose difficult to read but there are distinct animale aromas beneath the funk that can also be found on the robust and tautly muscular medium-bodied flavors that also display an overt minerality on the delicious, firm and complex finish." (01/2010)
Starting Bid: $225.00

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Domaine Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Butteaux" (93BH, (92-93ST), 91RP). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "The benefit of the older vines is apparent as this is notably more complex than either the Forêts or the Montmains with its broad-ranging nose of subtle wood, green fruit, citrus, tidal pool, wet stone and saline notes where the salt and mineral elements continue onto the detailed, intense and exceptionally pure flavors that ooze Chablis character on the palate staining and impeccably balanced finish. One to strongly consider. *Outstanding*" (01/2010)
Starting Bid: $300.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru "La Forest" (94RP, 93ST, 92BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Rene Dauvissat’s 2008 Chablis La Forest achieves a remarkably vibrant sense of interplay and complexity characteristic both for its vintage and for this cuvee at its best. Scents of iris, white truffle, crushed chalk, saline-alkaline ocean breeze, tart plum, white peach and grapefruit all have their counterparts in a palate performance of riveting interactivity and prodigious yet continually fascinating length. There is a firm feel, brightness, and in the end a tendency for its mineral aspects to slightly dominate this show that result in a sparer impression than the corresponding 2007, something of a reversal of these vintage’s normal roles. Once again, here is an exceptional Chablis premier cru that should be worth following for a dozen or more years. (DS)" (10/2010)
Starting Bid: $225.00

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Domaine J-F Mugnier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Fuées" (93JG, 92BH, 91RP, 91ST). John Gilman: "The 2008 les Fuées is a very, very classic example as well of this fine premier cru, with the red fruity side of the vintage perfectly positioned to bring out the best of this wine. The stunningly beautiful and sappy nose soars from the glass in a blaze of cherries, blood orange, chalky soil tones, gentle notes of smoke, roses and mustard seed. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish, pure and very refined, with great intensity, laser-like focus, excellent mid-palate depth and very suave tannins on the tangy and nicely reserved finish. A great bottle of les Fuées in the making." (02/2011)
Starting Bid: $550.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Bruno Clair Bonnes Mares Grand Cru ((92-94BH)). 92-94 points Allen Meadows: "A brooding, serious and ripe nose of stony dark berry fruit aromas gives way to gorgeously complex and layered big-bodied and tautly muscled flavors that culminate in a driving, mouth coating and hugely long and quite firmly structured finish. While there is not much qualitatively to separate this from the Bèze, this possesses a completely different personality and intrinsic character." (Tasted: Jan 30, 2010)
Starting Bid: $280.00

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Domaine Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Montée de Tonnerre" (94BH, (93-94RP), (93-94ST), 93JG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Iris, narcissus, peony, heliotrope, lemon, white peach, and litchi combine for the knockout nose of Raveneau’s 2008 Chablis Montee de Tonnerre. Uncannily combining a sense of textural richness, underlying extract, and decisively stony, alkaline, chalky, oyster shell minerality that go beyond its fellow premier crus in this collection. Yet this preserves a vintage-typical core of primary juiciness that helps convey lip-smacking appeal. Musky, sweet floral notes cling to the prodigiously long, expansive, finish of this almost certainly relatively un-evolved wine. Give it several years in bottle and expect to be rewarded for over a decade. (DS) 93-94+" (10/2010)
Starting Bid: $625.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Gros Frère et Soeur Grands-Echézeaux Grand Cru (94RP, 92BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Grands-Echezeaux hovers on the palate with endless layers of fruit. Initially somewhat weightless, the Grands-Echezeaux blossoms beautifully in the glass, showing plenty of inner reserve and stuffing. This is a classic Grands-Echezeaux with the potential to continue to improve in bottle. (AG)" (05/2011)
Starting Bid: $412.00

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Chablis Grand Cru "Les Preuses " (95BH, 95ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A highly complex if discreet nose of noticeably cool aromas features notes of limestone, lemon, oyster shell, iodine and dried white flowers that marry into beautifully precise flavors blessed with an abundance of dry extract on the tightly wound, seriously long and intense finish. This is flat out gorgeous and perfectly balanced with that Zen-like character this wine always seems to evidence." (10/2010)
Starting Bid: $195.00

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Chateau Rayas "Réserve" Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc (92WS). Wine Spectator: "A nutty, old-school style, with a broad, creamy feel that allows the creamed Cavaillon melon, salted butter, dried apricot and star fruit notes to sail along. Lightly toasted almond and paraffin accents glide through the finish. (JM)" (10/2013)
Starting Bid: $445.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Bruno Clair Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru (95RP, 94BH, (92-94ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Chambertin-Clos de Beze is an intensely floral, cool wine graced with exquisite finesse in its dark red berries, flowers, minerals and menthol. It is naturally less obvious than the 2009, but just as convincing. A textured, sweet and multi-dimensional finish rounds things out in style. The Beze is quite a bit more open than the Bonnes Mares, but it nevertheless needs time, and probably lots of it." (05/2011)
Starting Bid: $440.00

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Agrapart "Venus" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (94VN, 93RP). Vinous: "The 2008 Blanc de Blancs Vénus, the most vibrant and nuanced of the 2008s at Agrapart, is endowed with a real sense of vertical cut. White flowers, chamomile, almonds and white orchard fruit open up in the glass, but only with reluctance, as the wine remains tense and tightly wound. The perfumed, highly expressive finish is incredibly tempting, but readers who can wait another year or two will find the extra time in bottle rewarding. The Vénus is made from a single parcel in the La Fosse lieu-dit that is worked entirely manually and plowed by horse. Disgorged March 2013, non-dosé. (AG) 94+" (11/2014)
