2008 Keenan Napa Valley Merlot
Back In Stock!
91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Merlot hardly gets richer than this. Just explodes in the mouth with flavors of black cherry, blackberry and chocolate truffle flavors. As sweet as it seems, it’s actually dry, with a wonderful edge of acidity." (06/2012) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Merlot, which is 80% estate Merlot blended with 20% Merlot from Carneros, possesses a dense ruby/purple color as well as attractive aromas of cocoa, coffee, licorice and spice. This seductive, medium-bodied Merlot is not terribly long, but it is ideal for drinking ov...

95 points James Suckling: "Lots of dried fruit with plum, light raisin, chocolate and toasted oak. Some balsamic undertones. White truffles and dried flowers. Medium body, creamy tannins and savory, balsamic undertones. Extreme and unique, as always." (11/2020) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The nose of the 2008 Viña Tondonia Reserva is very elegant, fresh and with an herbal twist, starting to show the complexity of the aged wines that are sometimes still too young when they are released 10+ years from the vintage! The palate is medium-bodie...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Syrah—this is a focused wine, with complex nuances of licorice, tar, mineral and lead pencil, but it is buttressed by the compact, concentrated red and black fruits. The dusty tannins are reminiscent of a Napa wine, with excellent length and polish. *Cellar Selection* (PG)" (07/2012) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Dense and focused, with fine, chewy tannins around a core of savory cherry, plum and herb flavors, hinting at game bird and fresh mushroom as the finish lingers expressively. 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Buty's Right Bank-ish Merlot/Cab Franc is wild and slightly brambly, with dark streaks of iron and pencil lead, moist earth and herb. Hints of green coffee creep into the finish; this is most definitely a red wine from a cooler site in a cooler vintage, but with the classic structure of Bordeaux. (PG)" (08/2010) K&L Notes: This wine is a blend of 79% Merlot from the Connor Lee Vineyard and 21% Cabernet Franc from Champoux Vineyard.

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 High Road James Berry Vineyard comes across as beautiful and sensual, with layers of dark fruit, spices, leather and tobacco that meld together gracefully. Floral notes add a sense of lift and polish on the understated finish. Ideally this could use a little more mid-palate pliancy, but it is quite attractive all the same. In 2008 the blend is 50% Syrah, 30% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre, which were co-fermented with 30% whole clusters. The wine was aged for 20 months in French oak. (AG)" (08/2011) 92 po...

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Syrah Lagniappe was aged for 15 months in French barriques and puncheons. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it reveals a perfume of Asian spices, mineral, lavender, smoked meat, and blueberry. On the palate it is round and elegant with no hard edges to be found. Medium-bodied, spicy, and pleasure-bent, it will drink well over the next 8-10 years. (JSM)" (08/2010) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Spicy, with rose peppercorn and oregano overtones to the dark berry and espresso flavors, riding easily over po...

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The dark purple hued 2008 Syrah James Berry Vineyard is tightly-knit and restrained, but with coaxing, it offers up scents of creme de cassis, blueberries, melted asphalt, and charcoal. Its impressive texture, stunning richness, and good underlying minerality suggest this brilliant Syrah will evolve for a decade or more." (02/2010) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vivid, glass-staining purple. Sexy aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, smoky minerals, olive and black cardamom. Youthfully w...

2008 Linne Calodo "Cherry Red" Paso Robles Red Blend
Back In Stock!
90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Cherry Red is overshadowed, of course, by the profound 2007, but it is again very successful. The blend this year is 58% Zinfandel, 20% Mourvedre, 15% Syrah, and the rest Petite Sirah. It is more restrained and elegant than its older sibling, with loads of raspberries and black cherries intermixed with sandy, loamy soil notes, medium to full body, sweet tannins, and a stylish graceful finish. (RP)" (08/2010) K&L Notes: Praise from Robert Parker: "This is one of my favorite wineries in the Central Coast...

2008 Linne Calodo "Slacker" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Back In Stock!
From Robert Parker: "Matt Trevisan is one of Paso Robles’ up-and-coming stars. He’s doing everything right, and it’s good to see him planting a new estate vineyard of nearly 18 acres, building a new wine cellar, and taking full advantage of the gorgeous limestone soils on the hillsides of West Paso Robles. Trevisan has also been ahead of the curve in realizing that the finest Paso Robles wines are usually blends. Undeniably, he has demonstrated a Midas touch when it comes to assembling innovative blends. He is also the only winemaker in this region that...

93 points Vinous: "Vivid ruby. Sappy raspberry and intense floral aromas show an almost liqueur-like quality. Supple and extremely aromatic, with strong raspberry and cherry flavors complemented by candied rose and Asian spices framed by ripe acidity. Conveys an impression of energy and expands on the long, sweet, very pure finish. This wine is extremely pretty. (JR)" (12/2010) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Pinot Noir Zotovich has a dark ruby color, but is relatively shy in alcohol for a B-C Pinot (12.8%). Pomegranate, plum, raspbe...

2008 Carlisle Yorkville Highlands Petite Sirah
Back In Stock!
93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Those masochists who need a high dosage of resveratrol will adore the 2008 Petite Sirah Yorkville Highlands, which should clear out any clutter in the arteries. A huge, massive wine with abundant black and blue fruits intermixed with licorice, camphor, graphite and spicy background oak, this chewy, unfined/unfiltered Petite Sirah should be forgotten for 4-5 years, and drunk over the following 2+ decades. (RP)" (02/2011) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky purple. Blackberry, blueberry, l...

2008 McPrice Myers "Les Galets" Arroyo Grande Syrah
New!
93 points Wine Spectator: "Intense and complex, with a spicy, beefy edge to the ripe plum and wild berry jam flavors, floral aromatics and elegant framework. Full-bodied, rich and layered, ending with a persistent aftertaste. Drink now through 2018. 327 cases made. " (02/2011) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Les Galets shows some of the wilder elements of Syrah in its dark fruit, grilled herbs, minerals and creme de cassis. The 2008 generally has more definition in its aromas and flavors than the decidedly extroverted and exuberant 2...

2008 McPrice Myers "Altas Viñas" Santa Barbara County Rhone Blend
Back In Stock!
91 points Wine Spectator: "A ripe, juicy style that pushes the blackberry and wild berry character to jam in a delicate manner. Full-bodied, supple and stylish, this maintains its charming berry vividness throughout. Mourvèdre, Grenache and Syrah. Drink now through 2016." (02/2011) K&L Notes: McPrice Myers' 2008 Altas Vinas is a unique blend of Southern Rhone varietals from two very different vineyard sites. The Alta Mesa vineyard contributes Mourvedre and Grenache from an altitute of 3200' and features wild day/night temperature swings. Syrah from t...

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Quixote "Helmet of Mambrino" Stags Leap District Petite Sirah. Philippe Melka is the chief winemaker for Quixote Winery. The 2008 vintage was not reviewed, but the "Helmet of Mambrino" Petite Sirah consistently receives scores above 90 points in both Vinous and Wine Advocate. Producer notes from Antonio Galloni for Wine Advocate "I imagine most people associate Stags’ Leap with top-flight Cabernet Sauvignon, but this is one of the handful of enclaves in Napa Valley where Petite Syrah can be just as compelling. Proprietor Carl Doumani essentially carved out what is Quixote today when he sold Stags’ Leap Winery to Beringer in the late 1990s. Quixote is an eccentric operation, with a winery designed by famed Viennese architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser and equally colorful bottles. The wines are fabulous." (12/2012)
