2005 Secret Orkney (Highland Park) 19 Year Old "Signatory" K&L Exclusive #DRU 17/A63 #28 First Fill Oloroso Sherry Butt Cask Strength Non Chillfiltered Orkney Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Top Pick!
Signatory has long been one of the preferred independent bottlers on the market. For almost three decades now, we've been selling Signatory because their cask selection process is second to none in the industry. They also have a knack for building incredible collections of rare casks, so walking through their warehouse is an absolute dream. As you pass Bowmore from the 70s and Port Ellen, you'll stumble by Dallas Dhu and Rosebank. Yet it's some of the modern stocks that are most shocking! Highland Park on its own is pretty rare outside of distillery bott...

90 points Wine Spectator: "Dark in color, with lots of blackberry, mineral, licorice and a hint of toasty oak. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. Balanced and generous, with lots of fruit underneath. (JS)" (03/2008) Decanter: "Lifted cassis and hedgerow fruits. Harmonious balance between ripe, dark fruit, integrated oak, and chewy tannins. Attractive. " (06/2008) Wine Advocate: "A consistently well-made cru bourgeois, this wine exhibits a deep ruby color and a nice, earthy nose with hints of burning embers intermixed with...

2005 Haut-Bergey, Pessac-Léognan
Top Pick!
91 points Vinous: "Deep medium ruby. Blackberry, violet and a hint of dark chocolate on the nose. Impressively dense and primary, with flavors of blackberry and smoked meat complicated by a suggestion of bonfire. Chewy, dry and classic wine, finishing with substantial building tannins. (ST)" (05/2007) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Aromas of mineral, blackberry and licorice lead to a full body, with lots of racy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. There's plenty of character, with a polished, refined style, yet tannic. (JS)" (03/2008) 90 points John Gi...

95 points Int'l Wine Review: "The 2005 ‘Les Pavots’ is a tremendous blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, 12% Merlot & 2% Petit Verdot which is offers seductive aromas of ripe dark cherries, roasted black plum and currants woven together with spices, leather, chocolate and a wonderful savory edge. On the palate this is full-bodied and voluptuous with tremendous depth, backed by a gorgeous plush texture, which carries on through the layered, multi-dimensional finish. Today the 2005 is simply delicious and only just beginning to enter into m...

2005 Citran, Haut-Médoc
Top Pick!
92-94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is full of intensely ripe fruit, but seductively balanced with the fresh acidity. The wine is solid, but also lively, with dusty tannins layered with some new wood flavors. (RV)" (06/2006) Wine Spectator: "Shows blackberry and currant aromas, with a hint of sweet tobacco. Full-bodied, with soft, silky tannins and a long, fruity finish. A pretty wine." (03/2008) Wine Advocate: "This is an equal-part blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Good, dense fruit as well as some toasty new oak and spice jump from the glass...

2005 Undisclosed Jamaica 17 Year Old "Golden Devil" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Jamaican Rum (700ml)
Top Pick!
This phenomenal barrel of rum will forever be a mystery. Wild speculation exists about its source and the bottler has absolutely zero information from the source about its marque. Those circumstances are highly unusual considering the quality and character of the rum in question. But, if you notice similar batches out there, there are only a handful of distillers that could supply this rum. Worthy Park, we've had others from the vintage and they have always included the blenders marque. The distillery was only selling in bulk at the time and their stocks...

100 points Wine Advocate: "The myth perpetrated by Old World wine proponents is that California wines don’t age. Those critics need to taste Verité, because these wines are aging far slower than I imagined. Perfect in its own right, and probably my favorite of the three Verite wines I tasted, the absolutely, drop-dead bouquet of the 2005 Le Désir is the most stunningly complex and fragrant display of a blend of Bordeaux varietals (50% Cabernet Franc, 39% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and a touch of Malbec) that I have found in my horizontal tast...

96 points Int'l Wine Review: "A stunning effort that offers a rich layers of ripe currant, black fruit, with hints of herb and spice. The finish is long with lots of depth. (JD)" 95 points Wine Advocate: "While this might not be the blockbuster one would expect, there is outstanding depth, purity and overall texture and ripeness. Again, terrific acidity gives the wine vigor and precision, despite a lofty 15.2% alcohol. The wine is fresh and pure, with black raspberry and blackcurrant fruit, some white floral notes, and the telltale forest floor. This is...

98 points Wine Advocate: "This was the last vintage during the era of Rosemary Cakebread, who left Spottswoode to pursue building her own portfolio of wine. This is a reserved, but classic Spottswoode. An inky bluish purple color, notes of vanillin, white flowers, blackcurrants and blueberries are all present in this dense, rich, full-bodied wine that seems to go from strength to strength. This was a vintage across the board that I underrated, but I have seen how the wines have seemingly put on weight, complexity and density as they have evolved in bottl...

93 points Int'l Wine Cellar: "Good deep ruby-red. Complex aromas of currant, licorice, graphite, bitter chocolate, smoked meat, tobacco and brown spices. Began juicy, penetrating and quite youthfully unevolved, but aeration brought a suppler, rounder texture and more generosity to this impressively structured wine. Complicating notes of bitter cherry, menthol and minerals. This will require a good eight to ten years of aging but the substantial tannins are sweet and lush. Very long, pure and powerful on the finish." (06/2008) 91 points Wine Advocate: "...

2005 Angélus, St-Emilion
Back In Stock!
100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2005 Château Angelus has been absolute pure perfection every time I’ve been lucky enough to taste it, surpassing the 1990 and rivaling the 2009 and 2018. Based on 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc, it has a dense ruby/plum hued to go with mammoth-sized aromatics of red and black currants, smoked tobacco, scorched earth, truffle, and smoke. Incredibly concentrated, full-bodied, and massively concentrated, it has beautiful tannins and flawless balance. While I certainly appreciate the slightly more dialed back, finesse-driven s...

97 points The Wine Independent: "The 2005 L'Extravagant de Doisy Daene, with nearly 200 g/L residual sugar, is a 50/50 blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Medium to deep straw-gold in color, it gives up pure mangos, quince, and acacia honey scents with suggestions of lime leaves, lemongrass, and sea spray. The palate is incredibly youthful, with a racy backbone and super intense citrus fruit, finishing with fantastic purity. (LPB) " (07/2022) 96 points Wine Advocate: "The 2005 L’Extravagant de Doisy Daëne has 3.9grams of acidity, 192 grams per lite...

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese, this beautiful Bolgheri blend exhibits enormous purity and elegance. The 2005 vintage was on the warm side, but that extra sunshine has shaped a soft, velvety wine with bright, succulent fruit flavors. This is a generous, upfront wine that will add a touch of sophistication to your dinner table. " (06/2009) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Offers raspberry and strawberry on the nose, with hints of flowers. Medium- to full-bodied, with fine tannins and a long finish. Turns a lit...

92 points Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Solo is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from their estate vineyards in Stags Leap. The color is a youthful ruby/purple. The wine has a juicy, luscious personality, with notes of spring flowers, blueberry and raspberry fruit and underbrush. It hits the palate with medium to full body, great freshness and precision as well as good acidity, a hallmark of this vintage. The finish is long, persistent, and the wine exuberant and youthful. Look for it to continue to evolve for another 15 or more years. (RP) " (06/2...

2005 Rol Valentin, St-Émilion

93 points Vinous: "The 2005 Rol Valentin is absolutely gorgeous. Inky, rich and opulent, the 2005 is supremely well done in this style. Moreover, it has aged impeccably. Blackberry jam, chocolate, mocha and sweet French oak are all kicked up to the maximum. Readers will find an unabashedly flamboyant, heady Saint-Émilion that delivers the goods and then some. (AG)" (04/2021) 92 points Wine Advocate: "A sexy, full-bodied, very drinkable style of 2005, Eric Prissette’s 2005 Rol Valentin displays loads of black cherry fruit, licorice, Christmas fruitcake ...

2005 Ruffino "Ducale Oro" Chianti Classico Riserva
Back In Stock!
91 points Decanter: "Slightly rustic with earthy aromas and notes of baked plums. Fresh acidity with drying tannins, good concentration for the vintage. " (03/2023) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "There's a very plush and velvety quality to this wine that is enhanced by aromas of red berry, pipe tobacco, natural rubber and exotic spice. The wine has a ripe, fruit-forward personality and a smooth, velvety finish that is broad, powerful and long lasting. Large percentages of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon back the Sangiovese. " (06/2009)
Price: $34.99

Int'l Wine Cellar: "Bright, deep red-ruby. Red berries, tobacco, pine resin and a whiff of herbs on the nose. Suave, young and dry, with a slightly tart quality to the flavors of plum, redcurrant and tobacco. There's a light greenness here but also a subtle smoky sweetness. Finishes fresh and firm, with a fine dusting of tannins. This has been a consistently intriguing and understated merlot in recent vintages." (10/2008) K&L Notes: Proof that Merlot's bad rap is entirely unjustified, the 2005 Twomey Merlot is luscious and balanced with plenty of stuff...

(03/2008) 96 points Wine Advocate: "A beautiful wine, once again, from this property that has been on a superb qualitative roll for several decades. 97 points Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Rieussec is a blend of 90% Semillon, 8% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle picked between 23 September and 27 October. It has a fabulous bouquet that is mineral-rich and tensile. The palate repeats its performance from last year: focused, tense, laden with botrytis-rich fruit with a crystalline and sorbet-fresh finish that seals the deal. One of the best releases from the estate in recent years. (NM)" (01/2017) 96 points Wine Spectator: "Shows enticing aromas of toffee, cream, dried apricot and caramel. Full-bodied, ve...

99 points Jane Anson: "A wine that famously takes its time to come around, and the colour remains robust ruby at 17 years old, with pale sunrise red around the edges. Still plenty of ripe and young berry fruit on the nose, followed by melted tannins and gently-smoked caramel - showcasing the generosity of Pomerol in a way that Trotanoy sometimes hides when young. Cigar box, Christmas spice, liqourice, edges of bitter black chocolate, tapenade, mocha and menthol, still building in power over the palate, on the precipe of tertiary truffle and rose petal fl...

95 points James Suckling: "This is a vivid and juicy wine with great depth and finesse. Full body, chewy and beautiful. Tight and complex. Still needs time but sexy and beautiful. Stone and chalk. Exciting. (JS)" (06/2017) 94 points Wine Advocate: "This fragrant, lush, seductive wine offers up plum, Christmas spices and crème de cassis. This dense garnet/purple wine also has loads of blackcurrant and black cherry fruit, terrific aromatics, a full-bodied mouthfeel, beautiful purity, texture, and a long, long finish. Once again, the Comte von Neipperg an...

92 points Vinous: "The 2005 Brunello di Montalcino is soft and pleasing in its generous dark fruit and expressive bouquet. Plums, flowers and spices frame the long finish. In 2005 the straight Brunello is particularly successful, no doubt in part because it contains the fruit from Cerretalto, which was not made that year. Interestingly, this is a wine that doesn't usually attract much attention. Value-conscious buyers should be on the lookout for deals on this gorgeous 2005 Brunello. 2005 Barde-Haut, St-Émilion
Top Pick!
95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Another 2005 that's drinking at point yet has plenty of life ahead of it, the 2005 Château Barde-Haut reveals a dense plum/purple hue as well as a mineral-laced bouquet of red and black fruits, dried flowers, truffly earth, and graphite. With medium to full-bodied richness, it has terrific mid-palate depth, a focused, elegant mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. I'd certainly be thrilled to have bottles in the cellar, and it will evolve gracefully for another 10-15 years, although there's no need to delay gratification at ...

95 points John Gilman: "The Château Magdelaine from the 2005 vintage is going to be one of the longest-lived recent top years from this excellent estate, but the inherent structure of the vintage is going to demand plenty of patience before drinking. The lovely nose wafts from the glass in a deep and sappy blend of sweet dark berries, black cherries, chalky soil tones, tobacco leaf, a nice touch of new oak and a topnote of cigar smoke. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, tangy and rock solid at the core, with superb soil signature and grip, ripe...

2005 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe

99 points James Suckling: "The purity of fruit in this is fascinating with plums, currants and other dark fruits. Then there is another layer of spices and chocolate. So much cassis. Full and very layered with chewy polished tannins and a long, long finish. Just starting to open. Changes all the time." (09/2015) 98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Gorgeous blackcurrants, smoked tobacco, chocolate, gravelly earth, and spicy notes all define the 2005 Château Cos D'Estournel, a deep, full-bodied, powerful expression of this terroir that does everything right. Massive...

92 points Decanter: "2005 is underrated for Barbaresco. After a fairly wet summer, intermittent rain continued into September necessitating an early harvest. Waiting for dry conditions, Produttori started on 23 September and finished on the 30th, just before a week of incessant rain. The wine possesses a similar mineral quality to the 2008 with a more slender frame. It's well into its drinking window, yet vigorous acidity imparts vibrancy and nuances of cocoa, raspberry leather and tobacco which linger with sneaky persistence. This will certainly hold fo...

90 points Vinous: "The 2005 Barolo Bussia Soprana Vigna Mondoca is the softest and most approachable of these 2005 Barolos. Bouquet, fruit and structure are all beautifully balanced in this harmonious, medium-bodied Barolo. The Vigna Mondoca probably won't be a long-term ager, but it looks to be the most complete of the 2005 Barolos and should drink well for another decade or so. (AG) " (10/2009) K&L Notes: The Oddero "Bussia Mondoca" Barolo 2005 is a single-vineyard Barolo from the historic Bussia Mondoca cru in Monforte d'Alba, known for its struct...

94 points Wine Spectator: "Has lovely blackberry, milk chocolate and blueberry. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a long, caressing finish. Balanced and refined, with beautiful tannins. Wonderful length and finesse. " (03/2008) 93 points Vinous: "The 2005 Pensées de Lafleur is an exceptional wine. Though I have deep experience with Lafleur, I was surprised to find that I have never tasted this before. The bouquet is quintessential Pomerol: dark berry fruit, cola, black truffle, and hints of garrigues that are all exquisitely defined. The palate i...

Of the 2005 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon - CCS" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Wine Advocate writes: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon CCS (14.6% alcohol and 175 cases) is absolutely out of this world. I have given more perfect scores to this cuvée than any of the other Schrader wines. Made from Clone 4 with slight additions of Clone 6 and 337, it is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, like all these wines from the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard. T (RP)" (06/2015)

A lighter wine than many of these Vosne grands crus. Less new oaky also. This is highly individual and very, very delicious. Rich, fragrant and complex. Impeccably textured. A great wine. Bid on this 2-magnum lot of 2005 Mommessin Clos de Tart Grand Cru (1.5L) (98WE, 97RP, 97VN, 96BH, 95DC). Wine Enthusiast: A beautiful wine, smooth, polished, with rounded corners. Its intense fruit is balanced and harmonizes well with the sweet tannins, the layers of wood and the red berry flavors. Certainly powerful, it impresses equally with the pleasure it will give in 7–10 years. *Cellar Selection* (RV) (08/2008)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Le Clavoillon" (95W&S, 93WS, 91BH, 91JG, 91VN). Wine & Spirits: "This wine hums with energy, with the tight, floral perfume of chardonnay grown in Puligny, a focus on lime and orange blossoms, an astonishing integration of oak and mineral tension with the fruit. It feels buoyant, a rich beauty that keeps improving over the course of several days. Along with the freshness of the fruit, there's a sense of cool limestone radiating the warmth of the sun. The domaine owns an 11.84-acre parcel of Clavoillon, with vines dating to 1959." (12/2007)

Bid on this bottle of 2005 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche Grand Cru (100VN, 99BH, (98-99RP), 99WS, 96JG, 96ST). Vinous: "The 2005 La Tâche is simply magnificent. There is not too much I can add. Deep, powerful and richly textured, the 2005 simply has it all. Time in the glass releases the aromatics, but it is the wine’s pure sensuality I find most enticing. A host of dark red and blue stone fruits, hard candy and wild flowers take center stage. Even with all of its intensity, the 2005 retains striking freshness and purity. Can it get better than this? (AG)" (05/2016)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Colgin "IX Estate" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 97WE, 95ST, 95VN, 94JS, 94WS). Wine Advocate: "Lastly, the 2005 Proprietary Red IX Estate, from one of the most strikingly beautiful vineyards in all of Napa, high on Pritchard Hill overlooking Lake Hennessey, is a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Inky purple with a provocative and profound bouquet of graphite, white flowers, cassis and blackberry as well as hints of coffee and chocolate, this full-bodied classic has perfect balance, undeniable purity and a long finish. Current Bid: $600.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes (91RP, 91VN, 90BH). Vinous: "Ruby-red. Sexy, deeply pitched aromas of black fruits, game and smoky oak. Lush, rich and full, with a deep sweetness to its black and blue fruit flavors. This boasts extraordinary fat and depth for a village wine, even if today it shows less lift than the 2006. Finishes with broad, substantial tannins. Put this in a carafe if you plan to pour it any time soon. (ST)" (04/2008)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Climens, Barsac (95VN, 95WS, 94RP, 92WE). Vinous: "The 2005 Climens has an intense nose, dried honey and a touch of glycerine, tangerine and barley sugar. The palate is well balanced with a viscous opening, tangy marmalade mixed with white peach and white pepper, gaining momentum towards the finish that has real depth and penetration. This is a fabulous Climens with great complexity. (NM)" (04/2022)
Starting Bid: $300.00

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Quilceda Creek "Galitzine Vineyard" Red Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 93ST). Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Galitzine Vineyard comes from the fifth leaf of this estate vineyard and in this vintage contains 4.5% Merlot. The wine was aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak. Opaque purple-colored, its distinctive aromatics leap from the glass. Toasty oak, scorched earth, a hint of truffle, black cherry, black raspberry, and blackberry liqueur aromas are quite mesmerizing. On the palate, this sizable effort is firm, full-bodied, and structured, demanding 6-8 years of cellaring. (JM)" (06/2008)
Current Bid: $85.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Pavillon Rouge, Margaux (93VN, 92DC, 92JD, 92WE, 92WS). Vinous: "The 2005 Pavillon Rouge is in a beautiful spot right now where it is just beginning to show signs of aromatic complexity and nuance. At fifteen years of age, the DNA of the vintage remains - Pavillon Rouge is a potent, hulking wine. Sweet tobacco, cedar, mint, dried flowers and anise add layers of nuance. Readers lucky enough to own the 2005 should be delighted. I imagine the 2005 will drink beautifully for another decade or more. Today it is positively stellar. The more it opens in the glass, the more classic it becomes. (AG)" (04/2021)
Starting Bid: $660.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac (98DC, 98JS, 98RP, 98VN, 98WS, 95ST, 95WE). Vinous: "One of the highlights in this vertical, the 2005 Mouton Rothschild is exceptional. Dark, powerful and explosive on the palate, the 2005 is endowed with magnificent depth and richness. Just at the early part of its drinking window, the 2005 is sure to drink well for many years from here, especially if it is given a little bit of air. The 2005 is a stunning Mouton, but it needs time to fully blossom. Harvest took place between September 21 and October 6. The blend is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and just 1% Cabernet Franc. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Moillard Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Malconsorts" (93BH). Burghound: "This is a really lovely wine and while it is initially a bit timid and reserved, with air it really blossoms and put on weight. After 20 minutes or so the natural spice character of Vosne becomes much more apparent on the ripe dark berry fruit and earth suffused nose. There is good richness to the focused, intense and moderately powerful middle weight flavors that exhibit more than a trace of minerality on the impressively well-balanced and lingering finish. This is perhaps not a truly classic example of Malconsorts as it's not particularly muscular or robust yet it is harmonious and overall, I very much liked it. " (04/2016)
Current Bid: $320.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Quintessa Rutherford Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 90CG) in original wood. Connoisseurs Guide: "It is hard not to be taken in by the lovely, sweet oak perfumes that take the early lead here, yet there is plenty of bright, young fruit beneath its vanillin veneer, and the wine proves to be fairly complete. Only a slight last-minute drop-off in fruit holds it back from higher award just now, but we do not rule out its chances for better as its knits together and hopefully expands with a stay of a few years in the cellar."
