Jancis Robinson: "Lots of pencil lead and leafy notes. But not dry on the palate. Fresh and leafy but still has good fruit and a fine grip. (JH)" (11/2009) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A big, virile, masculine style of wine, this 2005 has a dense ruby/purple color and loads of cassis, earth, minerals and spice. The wine is dense, rich, medium to full-bodied, and still not ready for prime-time drinking. (RP)" (06/2015)

2005 Chasse-Spleen, Moulis en Médoc
Back In Stock!
91-93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Great, spicy new wood flavors are balanced by the intense, solid fruits and deep, almost brooding tannins. This is a big wine, but it still preserves a good sense of proportion. (RV)" (06/2006) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Shows blackberry and fresh mushroom on the nose. Medium-bodied, with soft tannins and an aftertaste of chocolate and delicate fruit. (JS)" (03/2008) 90 points Connoisseurs Guide: " *One Star* Despite the fact that this wine is 40% Merlot, it comes equipped with tannins more reminiscent of St. Estephe th...

97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2005 Pontet Canet is a bruiser that’s still not anywhere near primetime. Blackcurrants, scorched earth, graphite, and saddle leather all emerge from this concentrated, powerful, structured 2005 that has an incredible amount of fruit, yet no shortage of ripe tannin, extract, and length. It needs another 4-5 years (or more) to hit maturity, but it’s an incredible wine that’s going to reward patience. 97+ " (02/2018) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the Pontet-Canet vertical in London, the 2005 Château Pontet...

2005 Sociando-Mallet, Haut-Médoc
Back In Stock!
94 points Vinous: "The 2005 Sociando-Mallet is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc picked between September 19 and October 6. It has a very well defined bouquet of red currant, cranberry and wild strawberry fruit; pressed white flowers emerge later, along with a hint of truffle. The medium-bodied palate shows wonderful definition, good cohesion and a touch of spice and black pepper. The tannins are very fine and focused, and the finish fans out wonderfully. I remember being impressed with this out of barrel, and 13 years l...

2005 Blason d'Issan, Margaux
Back In Stock!
Jancis Robinson: "Troisième Cru Classé. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. The first known reference to Issan dates back to the 12th Century, when Guyenne was occupied by the English. At the beginning of the last century, the great name of Issan went into decline, until the Cruse family bought it in 1945. Blason d’Issan, the second wine, is made from a blend of grapes from both younger and older vines to make a more approachable Margaux for slightly earlier drinking. Deeply coloured as befits the vintage. Intense pure dark fruit melded with restrain...

97 points Wine Spectator: "Exhibits blackberry, mineral, currant and dark chocolate. Full and velvety, with lots of fruit and chewy tannins. Long and caressing, with incredibly sweet fruit and tannins on the finish. Goes on for minutes. A thoroughly gorgeous wine. *Top 100 Wines of 2008, Highly Recommended* (JS)" (03/2008) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A beautiful wine, once again, from this property that has been on a superb qualitative roll for several decades. Dense ruby/purple with notes of graphite, background oak, youthful crème de ca...

2005 de Fieuzal, Pessac-Léognan
Back In Stock!
94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Probably the best Fieuzal I have tasted in many a year, the 2005 has a dense purple color and a gorgeous nose of charcoal, graphite, blackcurrants, cherries and earth. It is medium to full-bodied and very rich, with ripe tannin and a multidimensional mouthfeel. This is a superb wine and a great success for the château. (RP)" (06/2015)

2005 Margaux, Margaux (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
100 points James Suckling: "The nose on this seems more concentrated than the 2000, and the purity of fruit is stunning, with blueberries, raspberries, fresh flowers, and hints of licorice. This is perfect and complete. Full bodied, with notes of forest berries and wild raspberries, this is thick and velvety with perfectly polished tannins. You can really feel the density on this, more than the tannic structure. This is a sleeping beauty that will be utterly captivating when it awakes." (11/2010) 99 points Vinous: "In two recent tastings the 2005 Châte...

2005 Barde-Haut, St-Emilion
Back In Stock!
93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full ruby-red. Explosive ripe aromas of redcurrant, minerals, chocolate mint and tomato. Large-scaled, voluptuous and sweet, with very intense berry and chocolate flavors lifted by minerals, menthol and spices. Finishes with wonderfully broad tannins and an extremely long finish that leaves the palate vibrating. From a very cold terroir (the soil is clay over rocky limestone) that takes longer to warm up each day, but in 2005 this vineyard obviously reached near-perfect ripeness. Offers an excit...
Price: $59.99

90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This tannic, backward, structured, sizeable St.-Emilion exhibits a steely backbone, huge tannins, and equally huge extract. Reserved, weighty, and rich on the palate, it is a good choice for young readers who have the time to wait for it to come into focus and shed some of its tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2030. P.S. This is the St.-Emilion estate of California visionary, Jess Jackson. (RP)" (04/2006) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby-red. Musky, very ripe aromas of roasted dark fru...

93 points James Suckling: "Aromas of milk chocolate, walnut shell and currants follow through to a full body, with soft, velvety tannins and a chewy finish. Serious depth of fruit here. Better in 2015 but so enticing now." (07/2013) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good saturated red-ruby. Deep, ripe, expressive aromas of black raspberry, coffee, mocha, menthol, black olive and chocolate truffle. Sweet, seamless and lush, offering excellent volume in the mouth and considerable early sex appeal. This boasts the exotic character of ...

2005 Latour, Pauillac (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
100 points Vinous: "The 2005 Latour was mind-blowingly profound in two recent tastings for this report. Deep and sensual to the core, the 2005 is utterly captivating. All the elements are so seamlessly put together. Graphite, crème de cassis, licorice, dark spice and lavender infuse the 2005 with so much energy. More than anything else, though, the 2005 is a Latour of texture and resonance. Even after several hours, the 2005 is fresh and full of energy. Wines like this are just life affirming. That's about all I can really say. (AG)" (04/2021) 100 poin...

2005 Léoville-Las Cases, St-Julien (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
99 points James Suckling: "A stunningly complex and complete nose of flowers, dark fruits, and minerals. Very perfumed and subtle at the same time. The palate is full, yet tight and powerful with perfect tannins and a long, long finish." (04/2012) 98 points Wine & Spirits: "Here is one more vintage to prove Las Cases deserves to be elevated to first growth. The Delon family has tended this great terroir as if they were already there. And the wine has the assured stance, the persistence of flavor that lasts long enough to become a memory, an imprint on ...

2005 Grand Puy Ducasse, Pauillac
Back In Stock!
91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another 'best ever' performance, the Grand-Puy-Ducasse is made in a charming style for a 2005 Pauillac. This deep ruby-hued, very concentrated, precocious, showy effort displays copious quantities of sweet oak intermixed with black cherries, black currants, velvety tannins, medium body, and loads of fruit. It can be drunk now or cellared for 15-20 years. (RP)" (04/2008)
Price: $79.99

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted from an ex-château bottle at BI Wine & Spirits Calon-Segur dinner in London, the 2005 Calon Segur is on par with the wonderful 2000. The only real difference is that this needs more time in bottle. It has a captivating nose: blackberry and boysenberry fruit coming at you at full pelt; dried blood and bacon fat developing as secondary aromas just behind. There is fine delineation here - an underlying mineralité sure to surface with time. The palate is very intense and disarmingly youthful, almost ferrous on...

2005 Boyd-Cantenac, Margaux
Back In Stock!
92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This château, which is often under the radar (production is only 5,500-6,000 cases), has fashioned a terrific, inky/blue/purple-hued 2005 with a beautiful bouquet of spring flowers, crème de cassis, pain grille, and blueberries. Powerful and concentrated with full-bodied richness, stunning purity, and a tannic, 40+-second finish, this beauty requires patience. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2030+. (RP)" (04/2008) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Offers loads of toasty oak and very ripe fruit, with hints of coffee and tob...

2005 Moulin Saint-Georges, St-Emilion
Back In Stock!
92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the strongest efforts I have ever tasted from Alain Vauthier, his small St.-Emilion estate, Moulin Saint-Georges, has turned in a gorgeous 2005 with an opaque purple color and a sweet nose of blueberry and black raspberry fruit along with spring flowers. (RP)" (06/2015) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Deep, dark ruby in color. Super concentrated aromas of crushed blackberry, black licorice, espresso and leather follow through to a full body, with ultrafine tannins and loads of coffee and fruit flavors. Very l...

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pure crème de cassis, licorice and spice are all present in this wine from Xavier Borie. Medium to full-bodied and ripe, with sweet tannin and a nicely textured mouthfeel, this is a beauty that should continue to drink well for another 15 or so years. (RP)" (06/2015)
Price: $139.99

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Troplong Mondot is a blend of 90% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc. It was emotional tasting this wine, thinking of the late Christine Valette, who made this compelling wine while battling with considerable courage against an insidious disease. It is a great effort and a superstar of the vintage. Dense purple, it offers notes of white chocolate, blackberry, cassis and licorice as well as a hint of truffle and some subtle background oak. Full-bodied, multi-layered, and spectacularly pure and rich, it i...

96 points James Suckling: "A meaty and decadent Lynch with very ripe currant aromas on the nose. Full body, velvety-textured tannins and a powerful finish. It shows so much structure and fruit yet remains polished and focused." (10/2015) 96 points Wine & Spirits: "There's a relaxed feel to this wine. Cazes's team can dress Lynch-Bages in the black-tie formality of a first growth, but the wine is still lovely-a touch of gaminess makes it friendly rather than ponderous. There's something ethereal about its tannins, like a chocolate truffle melting in the...

Deep garnet colored, the 2005 Ducru-Beaucaillou needs a little coaxing before slipping sensuously out of the glass with the most alluring perfume of red roses, kirsch, star anise, cardamom and fragrant earth over a core of blackcurrant pastilles, blackberry preserves and warm plums plus a touch of tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a wonderfully taut, tightly knit frame of fine-grained tannins and bold freshness supporting the densely packed fruit, finishing long and perfumed. (LPB)
Price: $279.99

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 La Gomerie, St-Émilion (95WS, 93ST, 92RP). Wine Spectator: "Dark purple black in color, showing intense aromas of blackberry, licorice and Indian spices. Full-bodied, with layers of velvety tannins and a long, long finish. This offers loads of coffee, milk chocolate, toasty oak and ripe fruit, with wonderful concentration and polish. (JS)" (03/2008)
Starting Bid: $420.00

99 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A lesson in genuinely great wine, the 2005 Cos d’Estournel is a monster of a wine that delivers an incredible level of opulence and decadence while staying weightless and elegant on the palate, with no sensation of heaviness. This is what truly great wine is all about. Based on 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, and the final 4% Cabernet Franc, this dense ruby/plum-hued Saint-Estèphe offers up a monster bouquet of blackcurrants, unsmoked tobacco, licorice, toasted bread, classy oak, and cedar pencil. While it starts out reserved ...

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2005s from Bordeaux continue to show youthfully, yet spectacularly well! The 2005 Smith-Haut-Lafitte is a prime example of the vintage and offers a huge, rich, concentrated style as well as classic dark fruits, tobacco, scorched earth and graphite aromas and flavors. While this is a tannic vintage, the tannins here are sweet and polished and covered by fruit." (02/2018) 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This sensational, opaque blue/purple-colored wine from Smith Haut Lafitte has a gorgeous floral nose with notes of ...

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Angélus, St-Emilion (100JD, 100RP, 98VN, 97DC, 97JS, 96ST, 96W&S, 96WS, 95CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Truly great stuff, this wine performed at a three-digit level both in the horizontal tasting of 2005s in Baltimore, as well as in Montreal at this mini-vertical. This sensational, opaque, bluish/purple wine offers up notes of vanillin, spring flowers, blueberry and blackberry liqueur, plus a touch of licorice. The wine hits the palate with a thunderous cascade of ripe, rich, concentrated fruit. It is full-bodied, multidimensional and layered. The tannins are beautifully integrated but still present, and the wood, acidity, alcohol, etc., are all beautifully assimilated in this magnificent, majestic vintage of Angelus. (RP)" (08/2015)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Lagrange, St-Julien (96JS, 94W&S, 94WE, 93VN, 93WS). James Suckling: "Stunning now. A fabulous nose of currants, crushed raspberry and blackberry. Full- bodied, with perfectly integrated tannins and a long, caressing finish. " (07/2014)
Starting Bid: $477.01

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Le Gay, Pomerol (95RP, 93WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Le Gay is a massive, masculine Pomerol, very much in the style of Gazin, but showing much more minerality, abundant blue and black fruits, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and loads of tannin in a youthful, backward style, even at age 10. Give this wine at least another 5-10 years of cellaring and drink it over the following quarter-century. (RP) 95+" (06/2015)
Starting Bid: $360.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Gracia, St-Émilion (98RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This estate is a tiny micro-treasure in St.-Emilion. Owned by Michel Gracia and consisting of less than five acres of vines, it turned out a final blend in 2005 of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, but only 5, 000 bottles were produced. A wine pushing for perfection, notes of blueberry and blackberry dominate, but also underlying the fruit is a strong core of minerality and flowers. Full-bodied, rich, concentrated, and absolutely pure, this is a tour de force and a prodigious effort in this great, long-lived, slow-evolving vintage. Forget it or another 5-10 years and drink it over the following 40 or more. (RP) 98+" (06/2015)
Starting Bid: $230.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Beau-Séjour-Bécot, St-Emilion (96JD, 94RP, 93CG, 93VN, 92WS). Jeb Dunnuck: "A blend of 70% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2005 Beau-Sejour-Becot is another terrific 2005 that’s still young, yet offers plenty of pleasure. Crème de cassis, graphite and chocolate characteristics all emerge from this broad, fabulously pure, concentrated beauty. It’s just at the early stages of its drinking plateau and has another 2-3 decades of primes drinking ahead of it. Bravo!" (08/2018)
Starting Bid: $465.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 Lascombes, Margaux (94W&S, 93WS, 91WE). Wine & Spirits: "A joyous Lascombes, this is the first vintage to hit stride since the US investment firm Colony Capital took over in 2001. It's a meaty wine draped in fragrant tannin, built for long aging. It's also an exuberant wine, in both the bright, red currant-scented fruit and the bristle of the tannin. A playfully complex flavor lasts for minutes, the wine still youthful and fresh four days after it was opened. Margaux chic." (03/2008)
Starting Bid: $390.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 Brane-Cantenac, Margaux (95RP, 94DC, 94WE, 93VN, 92WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A sexy, style of wine from the Lurtons at Brane-Cantenac, this wine (a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc) has a stunning nose of forest floor, licorice, blackcurrants, plums and spring flowers. Soft tannin, full-bodied opulence and beautifully textured, lush richness, make for a brilliant wine from this large, 180-acre vineyard. In spite of the wine’s stunning forward fragrance and lushness, the color still looks as if it is 3-4 years old, rather than a decade. This is a big-time winner in 2005 and should drink well for at least another 25+ years. (RP)" (06/2015)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Quinault L'Enclos, St-Emilion ((90-93ST), 93VN, 92WS, 90JD). Vinous: "Medium ruby-red. Sexy aromas of cherry, minerals, iron and smoked meat. Juicy and sappy for the year, with lovely energy to the concentrated flavors of cherry, minerals, smoke, flowers and earth. Very sophisticated, shapely wine with a long, ripely tannic finish throwing off notes of smoke, minerals and iron. (ST)" (05/2008)
Starting Bid: $300.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Clos l'Église, Pomerol (96JD, 96RP, 96VN, 95JS, 95ST). Vinous: "Once again, the 2005 Clos L'Eglise is fabulous. Deep, bold and luscious, the 2005 delivers the goods, and then some. Sweet red cherry fruit, plum, cedar, tobacco, mint, mocha and spice fill out the layers effortlessly. Even with all of its intensity, the 2005 retains terrific brightness and verve. What a pleasure it is to see this juicy, explosive Pomerol in such fine shape. It's a superb wine from Hélène Garcin. (AG)" (04/2021)
Starting Bid: $401.01

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 La Confession, St-Emilion (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Opaque purple, with a sweet blue and blackberry perfume intertwined with licorice and graphite, the 2005 La Confession exhibits massive concentration and extraction, but this full-bodied wine pulls back from being over-the-top because of intrinsic freshness and admirable purity. It is a brilliant effort from the young Janouiex, but it needs some cellaring. (RP)" (04/2008)
Starting Bid: $360.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 Troplong Mondot, St-Émilion (100RP, 97VN, 96ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Troplong Mondot is a blend of 90% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc. Full-bodied, multi-layered, and spectacularly pure and rich, it is a tour de force, and a great tribute to an incredible woman. Kudos to the late Christine Valette! (RP)" (06/2015)
Starting Bid: $760.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 d'Issan, Margaux (96RP, 95JS, 93JG, 92VN, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The more serious grand vin twin, the 2005 d’Issan, has a stunning nose of spring flowers, blackcurrant and blue/black fruits galore, and an impressively opaque dark plum/purple color. With a rich, concentrated and pure mouthfeel, wonderfully sweet tannin, full-bodied density and richness, but elegance in abundance, this is a stunner, and one of the great Margaux of the vintage. (RP)" (06/2015)
Starting Bid: $481.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Smith Haut Lafitte, Pessac-Léognan (98JD, 98RP, 95DC, 95JS, 94W&S, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This sensational, opaque blue/purple-colored wine from Smith Haut Lafitte has a gorgeous floral nose with notes of graphite, blueberries, blackberries, and cassis that jump from the glass of this inky, very dense, yet strikingly pure wine. Light on its feet despite its stunning concentration and multi-layered mouthfeel, this wine has fabulous intensity, richness and length. Quite impressive, and still incredibly youthful, this is a superstar of the vintage, and capable of lasting another 25-30 years. (RP)" (06/2015)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Fleur Cardinale, St-Émilion (94RP, 93WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This beautiful wine from Fleur Cardinale performed great in its youth, both from barrel as well as post-bottling. A gorgeous blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon made by the Decoster family, the 2005 provides more evidence that this property is fully exploiting its tremendous potential. A few years away from reaching its plateau of maturity, its stunning nose of black cherry liqueur, cassis, licorice, earth and spice is followed by a full-bodied, concentrated and pure wine. (RP)" (06/2015)
Starting Bid: $380.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Giscours, Margaux (95JS, 95WE, 93WS, 92CG, 92RP, 91VN, 90ST). Wine Enthusiast: "This chateau gets better and better. The wine has power, but it is harnessed by the intense fruits, the blackberry flavors, the density and the wood. With the power, though, comes elegance, resulting in a wine that is ready to develop over many years. *Best of 2008, Cellar Selection* (RV)" (06/2008)
Starting Bid: $430.00

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Dense ruby/purple, with notes of crushed rock, blueberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with some licorice and chocolate, this full-bodied, massive wine from proprietor Philippe Cuvelier coincides with the resurrection of this premier grand cru classé in St.-Emilion. As the wine sits in the glass, notes of espresso roast and chocolate emerge. This full-bodied classic should continue to drink well for another 25 years. This is a killer effort. (RP)" (06/2015) 97 points Vinous: "The 2005 Clos Fourtet is a dramat...

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 La Mission Haut-Brion is pure perfection. It has an absolutely extraordinary nose of sweet blackberries, cassis and spring flowers with some underlying minerality, a full-bodied mouthfeel, gorgeously velvety tannins (which is unusual in this vintage) and a long, textured, multi-layered finish that must last 50+ seconds. This is a fabulous wine and a great effort from this hallowed terroir. Drink this modern-day legend over the next 30+ years. Only 5,500 cases were produced of this blend of 69% Merlot, 3...

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (100DC, 100JS, 99WE, 98W&S, 98WS, 97ST, 97VN, 96RP). James Suckling: "An incredible nose, so subtle with red fruits, mint, minerals, and all sorts of flowers give way to Cohiba cigar tobacco. The palate has such freshness and density, with perfectly polished tannins. Slightly leathery, like a wonderful Hermes bag. What a wine, please leave this for another ten years." (02/2011)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien (94WE, 91RP, 91W&S, 91WS). Wine Enthusiast: "This tastes of great Cabernet Sauvignon, with its black currant, cedar and herbs and fresh, juicy acidity. It is as fresh as it is rich, but it has a structure of dense tannins that balances the wine. This is one of the best wines from Gruaud-Larose for several years. (RV)" (06/2008)
Starting Bid: $450.00

Bid on this 7-bottle lot of 2005 Clos du Marquis, St-Julien (93WS, 92JD, 91RP, 91VN). Wine Spectator: "Fabulous aromas of crushed raspberry, blackberry, mineral and licorice follow through to a full-bodied palate. This is chewy yet silky, with a long, long finish. Balanced and powerful. (JS)" (03/2008)
Starting Bid: $390.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Haut-Bailly, Pessac-Léognan (95JS, 95RP, 95WS, 94JG, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Haut Bailly is rapidly turning into a glorious wine. You instantly fall in love with the purity on the nose, luscious red cherries, wild strawberry and blueberry. This is still youthful and beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a structured opening like many in this vintage. It exerts a gentle grip in the mouth, quite tensile and linear and perhaps just tightening up a tad toward the finish. It is biding its time, but it will repay those who cellar this outstanding 2005 for another four or five years. (NM)" (07/2017)
Starting Bid: $421.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Kirwan, Margaux (93WE, 93WS, 91ST, 90RP). Wine Enthusiast: "Dense and dark, this is an extracted wine with polished fruit.
