94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted from an ex-château bottle at BI Wine & Spirits Calon-Segur dinner in London, the 2005 Calon Segur is on par with the wonderful 2000. The only real difference is that this needs more time in bottle. It has a captivating nose: blackberry and boysenberry fruit coming at you at full pelt; dried blood and bacon fat developing as secondary aromas just behind. There is fine delineation here - an underlying mineralité sure to surface with time. The palate is very intense and disarmingly youthful, almost ferrous on...

97 points Wine Spectator: "Exhibits blackberry, mineral, currant and dark chocolate. Full and velvety, with lots of fruit and chewy tannins. Long and caressing, with incredibly sweet fruit and tannins on the finish. Goes on for minutes. A thoroughly gorgeous wine. *Top 100 Wines of 2008, Highly Recommended* (JS)" (03/2008) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A beautiful wine, once again, from this property that has been on a superb qualitative roll for several decades. Dense ruby/purple with notes of graphite, background oak, youthful crème de ca...

2005 Léoville-Las Cases, St-Julien (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
99 points James Suckling: "A stunningly complex and complete nose of flowers, dark fruits, and minerals. Very perfumed and subtle at the same time. The palate is full, yet tight and powerful with perfect tannins and a long, long finish." (04/2012) 98 points Wine & Spirits: "Here is one more vintage to prove Las Cases deserves to be elevated to first growth. The Delon family has tended this great terroir as if they were already there. And the wine has the assured stance, the persistence of flavor that lasts long enough to become a memory, an imprint on ...

2005 Duhart-Milon, Pauillac
Back In Stock!
93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This property, which has benefitted enormously from tremendous investments from the Rothschild family that owns Lafite, has turned out a dense purple-colored wine in 2005. Offering broad, expansive, supple and silky tannin as well as loads of Asian plum sauce, blackcurrants, and sweet cherries, this wine is seductive, medium to full-bodied, and luscious. (RP)" (06/2015) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Dark in color, almost black, with beautiful aromas of spices, blackberry and milk chocolate. Full-bodied and very si...
Price: $119.99

90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This tannic, backward, structured, sizeable St.-Emilion exhibits a steely backbone, huge tannins, and equally huge extract. Reserved, weighty, and rich on the palate, it is a good choice for young readers who have the time to wait for it to come into focus and shed some of its tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2030. P.S. This is the St.-Emilion estate of California visionary, Jess Jackson. (RP)" (04/2006) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby-red. Musky, very ripe aromas of roasted dark fru...

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pure crème de cassis, licorice and spice are all present in this wine from Xavier Borie. Medium to full-bodied and ripe, with sweet tannin and a nicely textured mouthfeel, this is a beauty that should continue to drink well for another 15 or so years. (RP)" (06/2015)
Price: $139.99

100 points James Suckling: "The nose on this seems more concentrated than the 2000, and the purity of fruit is stunning, with blueberries, raspberries, fresh flowers, and hints of licorice. This is perfect and complete. Full bodied, with notes of forest berries and wild raspberries, this is thick and velvety with perfectly polished tannins. You can really feel the density on this, more than the tannic structure. This is a sleeping beauty that will be utterly captivating when it awakes." (11/2010) 99 points Vinous: "In two recent tastings the 2005 Châte...

2005 Puygueraud, Côtes de Francs
Back In Stock!
92 points Wine Spectator: "*Ranked #32 in Top 100 Wines of 2008* Shows lovely black currant, floral and black licorice notes. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a tight bead of fruit and mineral throughout. Long finish. Best after 2009. (JS)" (03/2008) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Offering plenty of soft black cherry fruit, licorice, spice box, and plum, this medium-bodied 2005 is dark plum/ruby/purple and delivers loads of fruit. This beauty is drinking well already and should continue to do so for the next 7-10 years. (RP)" (06/2015) Stephen...

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 Dauzac, Margaux (94DC, 93WE, 92JS, 92WS, 90RP). Decanter: "This feels a true step up in quality. The Cabernet Sauvignon has been increased by this point, and it gives an extra dimension to the wine. It's very well balanced, with juicy flavours of cassis, fig, liquorice and chargrilled cedar. What a wine the 2005 is, it just keeps on delivering, bringing out the best of the vintage and of the estate. (JA)" (01/2018)
Starting Bid: $241.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Talbot, St-Julien (94DC, 93JS, 93WE, 92VN). Decanter: "The colour difference is quite remarkable in comparison to the older vintages in the tasting, and even with nearly 15 years of age we are fully in primary colours with this 2005 - rich, purple-reds, not inky but full of life and intensity right through the body of the wine. On the palate you find touches of caramel and sweet, ripe fruit that's handled expertly. It's more gourmet than any other on display, but still with gorgeous freshness and traces of black pepper spice that give focus to the finish. It has an effortless balance that just makes you so happy to be drinking this wonderful vintage, from an estate that's in no hurry to reveal its riches. (JA)" (12/2018)
Starting Bid: $180.00

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Hosanna, Pomerol (98RP, 96VN, 96WS, 95WE, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is an absolutely spectacular effort from Christian Moueix’s tiny jewel in Pomerol – Hosanna. An extraordinary nose of blue and black fruits, floral notes, licorice, and truffle soars from the glass of this dense purple wine. A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, this wine often has the most complex set of aromatics of any Pomerol. Velvety tannins, a multi-dimensional mouthfeel, and stunning finish give this full-bodied, extravagantly rich wine accessibility now, but it is certainly capable of lasting 25 or more years. Sadly, there are only 1, 200 cases of this. (RP)" (06/2015)
Starting Bid: $261.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Branon, Pessac-Léognan (96RP, 92ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This small jewel of a property owned by the Garcin family has been making great wine for a number of years, with the only problem being its very limited availability. Their beautifully deep 2005 has a dark purple color and displays charcoal, blackberry and cassis fruit, with some smoky barbecue notes in the background. This full-bodied, opulent wine is still youthful at age 10, and promises to continue to evolve for another 15-20 years. Pure and stunning, this is a great wine of the vintage. (RP) 96+" (06/2015)
Starting Bid: $600.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac (96JD, 96W&S, 96WE, 95DC, 95VN, 94ST, 94WS, 93RP). Wine Enthusiast: "A great, classic Pauillac, with its dark, dense, almost black currant flavors stirred together with immense tannins. The layers of dryness, fresh fruits, acidity and ripeness are all coming together into a magnificent structure. *Cellar Selection* (RV)" (06/2008)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 d'Angludet, Margaux (90CG, 90RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A sleeper of the vintage, this 2005 seems to be close to its plateau of maturity. It exhibits a dense ruby/plum/purple color, wonderfully sweet and silky tannins, loads of blackcurrant and floral-infused fruit, medium body and a long, layered, elegant and pure personality. It is drinking quite well and exhibiting no reason to extend its aging. This wine should continue to offer gorgeous and good-value drinking for another decade. (RP)" (06/2015)
Starting Bid: $150.00

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Pavie Macquin, St-Emilion (98JD, 96RP, 96WS, 95ST, 94VN, 94W&S, 94WE). Jeb Dunnuck: "A blend of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, from a cool limestone terroir on the plateau, the 2005 Château Pavie Macquin is extraordinary juice, and the finest vintage of this cuvee I’ve ever tasted. Sporting a saturated purple color as well as an off the hook bouquet of crème de cassis, blackberries, smoked earth, chocolate, and Asian spices, with a sensational sense of minerality developing with time in the glass. Deep, full-bodied, massively concentrated, and multi-dimensional, it’s just now at the early stages of its drinking plateau and it will probably keep for another 2-3 decades. Count yourself lucky if you have bottles of this in the cellar!" (10/2018)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Léoville-Poyferré, St-Julien (96JS, 95DC, 95W&S, 94WE, 93RP, 93ST, 93VN, 92WS). James Suckling: "Very clear and translucent with currants, blueberries and fresh mushrooms. Full-bodied with velvety tannins that are layered and beautiful. Together and polished with plushness and beauty." (02/2021)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 La Gaffelière, St-Emilion (96RP, 95JS, 95VN, 93WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The finest La Gaffelière I have ever tasted, the prodigious 2005 boasts a dense ruby/purple color in addition to a flamboyant bouquet of lead pencil shavings, creme de cassis, blackberries, smoked meats, incense, and Asian spice. Fabulously deep and full-bodied as well as ethereal and exceptionally elegant for its explosive richness and intensity, its lightness of being reflects the vineyard’s sensational terroir. This succulent beauty appears to be approachable, but that belies some significant tannins. (RP)" (04/2008)
Starting Bid: $310.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Rauzan-Ségla, Margaux (97JS, 97VN, 97WS, 96W&S, 96WE, 95JD, 94DC, 94RP). Vinous: "The 2005 Rauzan-Ségla is captivating right from the very first taste. Soaring aromatics and bright veins of minerality confer energy to this statuesque Margaux. The 2005 is still a very young wine. In fact, I would cellar it for a few years. I am blown away by its energy, vibrant and sheer character. Bright red-toned fruit, spice, rose petal, blood orange and crushed rocks literally soar out of the glass. The 2005 captures the richness of the year, but it remains a classically built, mid-weight wine of remarkable freshness and tension. Rauzan-Ségla might very well be the most under the radar Left Bank wine in 2005. Magnificent. (AG)" (04/2021)

2005 The Winemakers' Collection "Cuvée No. 1 - Michel Rolland" Haut-Medoc
Back In Stock!
93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is the first release of a special project of Jeremy Renard and the proprietor of Château d’Arsac in Margaux. Under Renard’s guidance, each year a single vineyard parcel from Château d’Arsac is completely controlled by a single, world-renowned winemaker. Michel Rolland launched the project, and he has been followed by other luminaries in the wine world. Rolland had the good fortune to benefit from an excellent vintage, and the result is a 5,000-case lot of sensational wine. The 2005 possesses a forward, volup...

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Lascombes, Margaux (94W&S, 93WS, 91WE). Wine & Spirits: "A joyous Lascombes, this is the first vintage to hit stride since the US investment firm Colony Capital took over in 2001. It's a meaty wine draped in fragrant tannin, built for long aging. It's also an exuberant wine, in both the bright, red currant-scented fruit and the bristle of the tannin. A playfully complex flavor lasts for minutes, the wine still youthful and fresh four days after it was opened. Margaux chic." (03/2008)
Starting Bid: $255.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Beau-Séjour-Bécot, St-Emilion (96JD, 94RP, 93CG, 93VN, 92WS). Jeb Dunnuck: "A blend of 70% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2005 Beau-Sejour-Becot is another terrific 2005 that’s still young, yet offers plenty of pleasure. Crème de cassis, graphite and chocolate characteristics all emerge from this broad, fabulously pure, concentrated beauty. It’s just at the early stages of its drinking plateau and has another 2-3 decades of primes drinking ahead of it. Bravo!" (08/2018)
Starting Bid: $195.00

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2005 Smith Haut Lafitte, Pessac-Léognan (98JD, 98RP, 95DC, 95JS, 94VN, 94W&S, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This sensational, opaque blue/purple-colored wine from Smith Haut Lafitte has a gorgeous floral nose with notes of graphite, blueberries, blackberries, and cassis that jump from the glass of this inky, very dense, yet strikingly pure wine. Light on its feet despite its stunning concentration and multi-layered mouthfeel, this wine has fabulous intensity, richness and length. Quite impressive, and still incredibly youthful, this is a superstar of the vintage, and capable of lasting another 25-30 years. (RP)" (06/2015)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Montrose, St-Estèphe (97RP, 97VN, 96DC, 96JS, 95JD, 95WS). Vinous: "The 2005 Montrose is spectacular. Bright, perfumed and vertically explosive, the 2005 possesses remarkable energy right out of the gate. In 2005, Montrose doesn't quite have the heft that it can, but that actually works to its advantage. Readers will find a wine that marries elegance with power so well. Gravel, dried herb, lavender and mocha lend striking complexity to the dark fruit in this gorgeous, regal Montrose. If anything, the 2005 still needs more time in bottle! (AG)" (04/2021)

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Latour, Pauillac (100W&S, 100WE, 99JS, 99WS, 98RP, 98ST, 96VN). Wine Enthusiast: "A great wine, the summation of a great vintage in Bordeaux. The core of richness, the dense, bone-dry tannins, the black currants, red berries and black plum skins are the elements, but it’s the way they have been integrated that makes this such an impressive wine. There is great elegance as well, a fabulous counterpoint to such power. Cellar for at least 15 years, but this will keep forever. *Best of 2008, Cellar Selection* (RV)" (06/2008)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Saint-Pierre, St-Julien (94RP, 93WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Possibly one of two of the most concentrated St.-Juliens (Léoville Las Cases is the other), this 2005 shows wonderfully sweet tannin, a dense ruby/purple color, and lots of crème de cassis, licorice and spice. Full-bodied, opulent, and impressive, it is surprisingly soft, though it will certainly age nicely for 15-20+ years. (RP)" (06/2015)
Starting Bid: $150.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Calon-Ségur, St-Estèphe (94RP, 93JS, 93WS, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted from an ex-château bottle at BI Wine & Spirits Calon-Segur dinner in London, the 2005 Calon Segur is on par with the wonderful 2000. The only real difference is that this needs more time in bottle. It has a captivating nose: blackberry and boysenberry fruit coming at you at full pelt; dried blood and bacon fat developing as secondary aromas just behind. There is fine delineation here - an underlying mineralité sure to surface with time. The palate is very intense and disarmingly youthful, almost ferrous on the entry with layers of ripe black fruit that segue into an earthy finish (with a curious light tang of Marmite on the aftertaste!). (NM)" (10/2016)
Starting Bid: $190.00

Bid on this 3-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 2005 Carbonnieux, Pessac-Léognan (92VN, 91CG, 91RP, 90WE) and 2-bottles of 2005 Lusseau, St-Émilion (90RP). Of the 2005 Carbonnieux, Pessac-Léognan, Vinous writes: "The 2005 Carbonniex is a gorgeous wine to drink now and over then next 10-15 years, maybe more. Time has softened the edges and given the 2005 lovely aromatic complexity. This mid-weight Pessac-Léognan isn’t a blockbuster, but it is immensely delicious today and really hitting its stride as a wine that is approaching maturity. Sweet red plum, white pepper, cedar and pipe tobacco linger on the classy, understated finish. (AG)" (04/2021)
Starting Bid: $95.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 La Lagune, Haut-Médoc (95JS, 94RP, (92-94WE), 93DC, 92VN, 91WS). James Suckling: "This is very tight and closed still but shows a beautiful line of tannins and freshness. It’s full-bodied, with structure and length. Light tea. Powerful and long. Needs a year or two to open and soften." (03/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien (98DC, 97RP, (94-96WE), 96WS, 95JS, 94ST, 94W&S, 93JG). Decanter: "A gorgeously silky, juicy and balanced glass of wine, this combines elegant richness of sweet cocoa and blackberry, with tons of power and a feeling of holding itself in check. This is signature St Julien, concentrated yet delicate, just an utterly lovely wine that has good acidity, with tannins that have melted into the rest of the structure and fruit that is still absolutely in control, followed by a saline edge to the finish. There's a long road ahead still, but this is a standout Ducru. (JA)" (09/2019)
