97 points James Suckling: "This is an extremely fresh edition and remains in a restrained mode with an intense serve of Chardonnay's lemon citrus dominating the nose alongside lime zest, bright florals, grassy elements, fresh dough, white stones and very subtle background spice. The palate has a svelte and elegant shape. Smoother than the 2002, it shares the same quality of precision but not the raging power of that vintage. The poise is unquestionable, the wine very reserved, with plenty of lemon-infused citrus flavors, hints of fresh cashew and a lot o...

2004 Arnaldo Caprai Sagrantino di Montefalco "Collepiano"
Back In Stock!
92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Sagrantino di Montefalco Collepiano is a seamless beauty. Made in a full-bodied style, it offers gorgeous layers of dark cherries, wild herbs, underbrush and leather with a powerful, authoritative personality. Decidedly modern in its interpretation, it is an outstanding wine in every way. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020." (02/2008) Vinous: "Inky ruby. Aromas of blackberry, dark chocolate, eucalyptus and minerals. Begins supple and sweet, then turns a bit youthfully disjointed-and less fine-grained than...

96 points Vinous: "Tasted from magnum, the 2004 Grande Cuvée Rosé Alexandra, Laurent-Perrier’s flagship Rosé is a blend of 80% Pinot Noir (on the skins) and 20% Chardonnay vinified together that has only been bottled seven times since 1982. From the very first taste, the 2004 is utterly spectacular. Rich, ample and vertical in feel, the 2004 is dazzling. Dried rose petal, star anise, tobacco, dried flowers, red berry fruit and earthy notes all grace this utterly exquisite Champagne. As good as the 2004 is today – and it is fabulous – it will be even bett...

98 points Wine Enthusiast: "Lightly baked and hinting at raisin and fine herbs, the bouquet on this benchmark Spanish red enfolds aromas of tobacco, moss and ripe tomato. In the mouth, it’s elegant and silky but also full and expansive. Flavors of baked berry fruits, baking spices, herbs and cocoa finish with a light coating of toast. This is an amazingly complete, exemplary wine that’s just entering its prime. If past vintages of Unico are an indication, it will age well through 2035. (MS)" (05/2015) 97 points Decanter: "Recommended by Jasper Morris M...

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This 2004, from a superb vintage shows a beautiful light red color with a brick rim and a superb nose redolent of balsamic woods, spices, leather, well-hung meat, incense and truffles. The light to medium-bodied palate shows fully resolved tannins, great acidity and pure, pungent flavors that linger in the mouth forever and that can only be Rioja. This is a wine to smell over and over again. It might sound like an exaggeration, but this wine is still too young and you should wait a little bit and drink the superb...

90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Lower-toned aromas of strawberry, underbrush and earth. Sweet but dry; big, broad and very ripe, but showing less lift-and more earthy low tones-than the Moonshine Ranch bottling. A bit subdued for this cuvee at this early stage, with red fruit and earth flavors dominating. Finishes with fairly substantial tannins. (ST)" (05/2006) Wine Spectator: "Smooth, with subtle rose petal, vanilla, raspberry and wild berry fruit that's firm and vibrant, finishing with a complex aftertaste and a hi...

95 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Mar/Apr 07: "Good bright dark red. Initially reticent aromas of cherry, cola, flowers, pepper and sweet oak. Dense and fine-grained but youthfully imploded, with a strong stony minerality keeping the red cherry, bitter chocolate and floral flavors under wraps. Finishes very juicy and very long, with intriguing pepper and floral nuances. The recorked bottle 24 hours later showed brilliantly complex aromas and flavors of black raspberry, bitter chocolate, rose petal and minerals and superb sappy persist...

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Colheita Tawny Port was bottled in 2018 with a long cork and approximately 90 grams of residual sugar. Showing a bit more firmness than the 2007 but not quite its seductive texture, this an easy tawny that is slightly deeper than a typical 10 but not really approaching a 20 in quality. Which you like better is mostly a matter of taste, but I liked the little bit of extra concentration here, as compared to the 2007. (MS)" (07/2018) Jancis Robinson: "Winter 2003/04 was very dry but fears about lack of su...

91 points Wine Spectator: "Pushes ripe fruit to the edge of jam, with blackberry and wild berry flavors that are more supple and balanced on the palate than the aromas suggest. Impressive for its balance, grace and finesse. (JL)" (06/2007)

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Pagos Viejos is inky purple with a sublime nose of pain grille, spice box, cherries, raspberries, and wild blue fruits. This is followed by a dense, plush, full-flavored, sexy wine with perfect balance and remarkable elegance for a wine so powerful. Although it can be enjoyed now, it deserves a minimum of a decade of cellaring after which it should drink well through 2047. Kudos to Bodegas Artadi for this tour de force! (JM)" (02/2007) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Classic in color, and backed by aromati...

96 points Vinous: "The 2004 Barolo Cannubi is one of the most reticent wines in the lineup. Freshly cut flowers, mint, sweet red berries, cinnamon and a dash of oak gradually open up in the glass, but the 2004 is going to need more time in bottle to truly open up. The Cannubi is Scavino's smallest production single-vineyard Barolo, which makes it hard to find, but it is well worth the effort. (AG)" (05/2015) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Scavino’s 2004 Barolo Cannubi is an imposing effort. It possesses a lovely inner perfume with layers of ...

Bid on this bottle of 2004 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (100WE, 99RP, 96VN, 96WS). Wine Enthusiast: "A perfect score has to be considered in the context of its region. Shafer’s 2004 Hillside Select is tremendous as a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that competes with its peers at the highest levels. It’s always a fabulous wine, but in warm 2004, Shafer’s amphitheater vineyard sheltered the grapes, ripening them to perfection yet protecting the “iron fist in a velvet glove” structure that André Tchelistcheff defined as Stags Leap. This 100% Cabernet is tremendous in cassis, black currant and mocha flavors, and the 100% new French oak provides perfect additions of smoke and caramel. It’s soft and gorgeous enough to drink now, and should age well in a cool cellar for the next 20 years." (03/2009)

Bid on this 10-bottle lot of 2004 Palmer, Margaux (OWC - 95RP, 93DC, 93WE, 92ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a stunning Palmer considering the growing season and for this writer, on par with Chateau Margaux. It has a deep garnet/purple hue. The nose is divine: pure black fruits, bilberry, cedar and a touch of iodine all with fabulous definition. The palate is full-bodied with very fine tannins, modern in style but exuding pedigree and class. Very refined on the finish with just a slight peppery edge. Love this wine, love it! (NM)" (03/2009)

Bid on this magnum of 2004 Harlan Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (98RP, 98WE, 98WS, 95VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Still dense purple to the rim, with notes of creme de cassis, charcoal, blackberry and sweet toast, the wine is full-bodied and voluptuously textured with the tannins largely resolved. But the density and richness suggest this wine can go a long, long way, even though the window for drinking it seems open and inviting already. A world-class, first-growth wine if there ever was one from Napa, this is simply an exquisite Harlan Estate that has atypically reached mid to late adolescence at the age of ten. (RP)" (04/2014)
Starting Bid: $1,150.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Siro Pacenti Brunello di Montalcino (97RP, 94WS, 93WE, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is a huge, dense wine that explodes from the glass with tar, smoke, earthiness black cherries and minerals. The wine possesses dazzling concentration and tons of richness, as waves of fruit coat the palate in stunning style. This big, dramatic Brunello needs time in bottle, but it is nothing short of magnificent today. The balance, and the integration of the French oak in particular, is brilliant. For those who are curious to try a bottle now, the wine should be opened a few hours in advance as the tannins are imposing at this stage. This is a rare Brunello of superb pedigree and complexity. (AG)" (06/2009)
Starting Bid: $150.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Bodegas Numanthia-Termes "Termanthia" Toro (96WS, 94RP, 94ST, 93W&S). Wine Spectator: "Powerful yet graceful, this red shows concentration, intensity and elegance. Oak is dominant now, with luscious mocha, dark chocolate and toasty flavors, but there's plenty of ripe black fruit underneath. Massive tannins are so well-integrated the wine feels plush, and lively acidity keeps this balanced. *Collectibles* (TM)" (11/2007)
Starting Bid: $510.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Colgin "IX Estate" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (97RP, 93JS, 93VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep purple to the rim with sweet blackberry, creosote, camphor, forest floor and fruitcake notes, sweet tannin and a layered mouthfeel, this wine builds incrementally offering up power, but also elegance. It is a spectacular wine from a great site. (RP)" (04/2014)

Bid on this bottle of 2004 Domaine Leroy Bourgogne Rouge (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "As one might reasonably expect, this is by far and away the most complex nose I have ever experienced with a so-called Bourgogne, revealing notes of red raspberry, spice, earth and violets that are followed by rich, classy and stylish flavors that possess a textured, pure and wonderfully refined finish that goes on and on. This is of top 1er quality and while the structure is supple, this clearly will age. Lalou Bize-Leroy took the most extraordinary step of declassifying all of her upper level wines to villages level, creating in the process the most striking examples that I have ever tasted for their respective appellations. *Sweet Spot, Outstanding*" (04/2006)
Starting Bid: $1,365.00

Bid on this bottle of 2004 Colgin "Tychson Hill" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 96VN, 95WS, 93ST). Vinous: "Bright, dark red. Lovely complex, subtle perfume of black raspberry, mulberry, currant, nutty oak and sexy brown spices. Wonderfully pliant and fresh in the mouth, showing some very ripe qualities but also outstanding detail and finesse to its flavors of black raspberry and deep wet-stone minerality. Offers compelling sweetness while retaining a firm shape, finishing long and aromatic, with very suave, harmonious tannins. I found this wine a bit liqueur-like upon release but today it's a knockout. (ST)" (06/2015)
Starting Bid: $243.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Arnaldo Caprai "25 Anni" Sagrantino di Montefalco (94RP, 92ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Sagrantino di Montefalco 25 Anni is remarkable. A dark, brooding beauty, this pure Sagrantino flows from the glass with awesome richness. The wine’s fruit is still primary and vibrant, while the textural sensations on the palate are totally seductive. The firm Sagrantino tannins are there, but the wine has so much fruit they are barely perceptible. First made to celebrate the property’s 25th anniversary, the 25 Anni is a selection of the best fruit and sees 24 months in small French oak barrels. It represents the very finest in contemporary winemaking. (AG)" (02/2008)
Starting Bid: $110.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2004 Pisoni "Estate" Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir (95RP, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A brilliant offering from Jeff and Gary Pisoni, this deep ruby/purple-colored 2004 offers up a captivating aromatic smorgasbord that includes black raspberries, blueberries, forest floor, and flowers. Broad, rich, and savory, with everything in perfect balance, this is great Pinot Noir! (RP)" (08/2006)
Starting Bid: $245.00

Bid on this bottle of 2004 Domaine Leroy Vosne-Romanée (92BH, 91VN). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is a wine that I have had on any number of occasions and it would be fair to observe that there is a tremendous amount of bottle variation. While most bottles in my experience display some noticeable levels of reduction (even occasionally mercaptans), when it doesn't extend to the palate this can be a really impressive wine with outstanding depth and persistence. My score is a bit of a compromise as the reduction is enough to materially detract from the overall experience yet the mouth feel and sheer complexity are first-rate. For my taste this is drinking very well now and I would advise giving this at least a quick aeration and 20 to 30 minutes would be better." (10/2018)
Starting Bid: $1,700.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Conterno Fantino "Vigna Del Gris" Barolo (93ST, 93VN, 92WS). Vinous: "The 2004 Barolo Vigna del Gris is gorgeous. Sweet tobacco, autumn leaves, truffles, cedar, leather and spices all meld together in a super-expressive Barolo that is at the early part of its tertiary stage. Dark cherry, plum and spice-cake notes abound as the 2004 continues to open up in the glass. (AG)" (05/2015)
Starting Bid: $180.00

Bid on this bottle of 2004 Valdicava "Madonna del Piano" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (97JS, 96RP, 95VN, 95WE, 95WS). James Suckling: "A full-bodied, firm and chewy wine with very polished and caressing, juicy tannins. Shows youth and prowess in its structure. Flavorful and persistent. Drink now, but better in two or three years." (01/2019)
Starting Bid: $140.00

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Scavino’s 2004 Barolo Carobric comes across as classic in its expression of violets, black cherries, minerals and sweet toasted oak. It too offers gorgeous inner sweetness to its fruit, but it is more focused and less concentrated than the other 2004 Barolos. This is a beautifully proportioned, vibrant Barolo that is sure to find many admirers. Carobric is made from a blend of Rocche di Castiglione, Bric del Fiasc and Cannubi This bottling has often suffered an identity crisis among the single-vineyard wines in t...
