The Hart family have been licensed victuallers and publicans in Paisley on the outskirts of Glasgow since the 18th Century, but it was in 1964 that brothers Iain & Donald Hart incorporated the company as Wine & Spirit Wholesalers and Scotch Whisky Blenders. Alistair Hart, who still selects casks for this special line today, came on as Chief Blender in 1975. His charge at the time was to secure and select the finest casks of single malt that were not readily available to the market. Their commitment to excellence is second to none in the industry and they...

We acquired a small parcel of this special selection via famed Italian Importer Ferdinando Fiori or Nadi. Signor Fiori became famous in whisky circles when he founded Intertrade Imports in the 1980s. High Spirits was established after the dissolution of that special label. Signor Fiori has established exceptional relationships with Scottish bottlers over the years and gets particularly good access. He's officially in retirement, but we're doing everything we can to convince him to select more casks for his special line. He's offerred us a small slice of ...

1995 Glenburgie 25 Year Old "Signatory" Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)
Top Pick!
This is the second cask of Glenburgie we've grabbed from the Signatory warehouse and it's another winner. The whisky is nothing flashy or wildly exotic, just smooth, rich, and delicious from front to back. Any time we can sell delicious 20+ year old cask strength single malt for under a hundred bucks, we're probably going to take that deal. Glenburgie is known more for its role in Ballantine's blended than it is as a stand-alone single malt, but these single casks should help change that perception. Once again we've got creamy malt flavor on the palate, ...

1995 Latour, Pauillac
Back In Stock!
96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A beauty, the opaque dense purple-colored 1995 exhibits jammy cassis, vanillin, and minerals in its fragrant but still youthful aromatics. Medium to full-bodied, with exceptional purity, superb concentration, and a long, intense, ripe, 40-second finish, this is a magnificent example of Latour. As the wine sat in the glass, scents of roasted espresso and toasty new oak emerged. This classic will require considerable cellaring. (RP)" (06/2000) 94 points Vinous: "Deep ruby-red color. More expressive aromas of crys...

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Château Montus "Cuvée Prestige" Madiran ((94-96RP), 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: ". . . the 1995 Montus Cuvee Prestige, a 100% Tannat (the local grape), aged in 100% new oak. . . is a tannic wine, although this is not a wine that is harsh and astringent without the balancing fruit. The color is an opaque black. The wine possesses a magnificent, sweet, pure nose of cassis, black plums, and subtle new oak notes. Extraordinarily deep and full-bodied, with layers of concentrated, jammy fruit, a formidable tannin level, and a monster finish, this is unquestionably one of the great 1995s (and I am including all my top picks from Bordeaux). Do not be surprised if it outlives anything produced by Montus's more renowned siblings to the north. (RP)" (08/1996)
Starting Bid: $65.00

Bid on this 3 liter 1-bottle lot of 1995 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (3L) (98RP, 95VN, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I believe the 1995 is the finest produced under the Araujo regime. It is close to perfection. The wine combines extraordinary power and richness with remarkable complexity and finesse. The saturated purple/black color is followed by aromas of sweet vanillin intermixed with riveting scents of black currants, minerals, exotic spices, coffee, and toast. There is nothing garish about this subtle yet powerful giant of a wine. A Napa Valley classic, it is full-bodied and extremely rich, yet retains its sense of balance and symmetry. This fabulous Cabernet Sauvignon should age effortlessly for 30 or more years. (RP)" (12/1998)
Starting Bid: $1,230.00

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (98JS, 96WS, 95RP, 93ST). James Suckling: "I pulled this lone bottle out of my cellar at the last minute to remind some Italian vintners of the great quality of the 1995 Bordeaux vintage. They seem to be finally opening up! What a red with incredible depth and finesse. Cedar, cigar box and toabaaco character with currants and fresh tobacco undertones. It's full-bodied yet tight and dense. Precision. So refined and intense. Such freshness and beauty." (06/2016)
Starting Bid: $665.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1995 Grand Mayne, St-Émilion. Add Grand Mayne to your list of château to follow. About 1/2 kilometer from Angelus, this St-Émilion estate has a history going back to 1767. 4 out of 5 Stars from Decanter: "Good structure and grip and very good length. Will develop very well."
Starting Bid: $210.00

Bid on this magnum of 1995 Perrier-Jouët "Fleur de Champagne Belle Epoque" Champagne (1.5L) (93WE). Wine Enthusiast: "Soft and round, with more exotic fruit characters. This is ripe, the acidity well integrated. Citrus and toast mix with ripe apricot and pineapple. It exudes the more seductive side of this famous brand, now mature, but still very much alive. (RV)" (12/2011)
Starting Bid: $230.00

Bid on this magnum of 1995 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars "Cask 23" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (93VN, 92WS). Vinous: "(13.5% alcohol): Bright, healthy dark red. Burnished woodsmoke, plum and cedar on the mellow, inviting nose, plus a hint of darker berries. Wonderfully fine-grained, concentrated and suave, showing flavors similar to the aromas, along with strong soil tones and an element of tobacco leaf. Boasts excellent inner-mouth lift and a long, smoothly tannic finish. A lovely showing and perfect right now--not to mention a superb example of its appellation. Incidentally, this was the first year in which Michael Silacci (in charge of winemaking at Opus One since 2004) was involved at Stag's Leap. (ST)" (06/2016)

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Langoa Barton, St-Julien (92WS). Wine Spectator: "Aromas of violet, blackberry and cherry. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long, rich finish. Pretty and rich and just coming around. This is excellent quality and value. (JS, Web—2007)"
Starting Bid: $47.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1995 Margaux, Margaux (97WS, 95RP, 94ST, 92VN). Wine Spectator: "This still broods seriously, with dark plum, currant and blackberry fruit, studded with charcoal, singed tobacco and cedar notes and backed by a serious grip of roasted earth. The gorgeously long finish is driven by old-school tannins, with the smoldering edge going on and on. A brick house of a Margaux, with more charcoal than graphite, more austerity than elegance and more power than refinement. (JM, Web-2014)"
Starting Bid: $930.00

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac (95JS, 95VN). Vinous: "Deep, brooding, rich aromas of blackberry, violet, milk chocolate, black pepper, cedar and incense; sexy and captivating. Bright and focused on entry, then rich, very smooth and suave, with highly concentrated flavors of red berries, dark plum, cedar and graphite. The extremely long, juicy finish features lively acids, great balance and persistent notes of underbrush and minerals. The mounting tannins coat the palate dry and are still years away from resolving fully. Harvested from September 12 through 27, which suggests that the Merlot was probably very ripe. According to Tourbier, 'We included a bit more Merlot than usual because we felt the Cabernet Sauvignon had particularly tough tannins in 1995 and we didn't want to risk making too tough or structured a wine. So we used the Merlot to soften it up a bit.' The estate was so happy with the quality of the wine (and the rather high 95% selection for the gran

Bid on this 3 liter 1-bottle lot of 1995 Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (3L) (91WS). Wine Spectator: "A rich, potent yet elegant, understated style, with ripe, polished currant, blackberry, cherry and spice. Finishes with firm tannins. (JL)" (06/1998)
Starting Bid: $120.00

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "La Chapelle" Hermitage (91WS, 90RP). Wine Spectator: "From a low-yield, hot-summer vintage, this full-bodied Syrah is still very young and tough, with a plummy, ripe character, chalk, mineral and leather notes and excellent concentration. The tannins are beginning to integrate nicely, but it's still hard. Needs time. (PM)" (12/1999)
Starting Bid: $110.00

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Penfolds "Grange" Shiraz South Australia (97WS, 96W&S, 95JH, 92RP). Wine Spectator: "A massive wine, majestic in its proportions, combining power and grace in equal measure. Flavors of plum, blackberry, chocolate and pepper, with hints of cedar, licorice and mint, swirl through the exotic finish. Tannins swarm but don't overwhelm the finish, which echoes all day and night. Best from 2004 through 2020. (HS)" (12/2000)
Starting Bid: $546.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1995 La Mondotte, St. Emilion. La Mondotte occupies exceptional terroir on the St-Emilion plateau. The well-draining clay soils compel the vines to root very deep in search of water while the vineyard's exposure to the sun virtually guarantees Merlot will ripen fully. At 50+ years old, these vines are in full stride producing lush, opulent wines in a typical vintage. With the elevated heat and dry conditions of the 1995 vintage, the wine not only achieved optimum ripeness, it also took on a strong tannic foundation that has held up remarkably well over the past 25 years.
