1993 Niebaum-Coppola "Rubicon" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Back In Stock!
Wine Advocate: "This impressive effort exhibits a thick-looking, ruby/purple color, as well as herb-tinged, peppery, earthy, black currant fruit intermixed with spice and foresty, loamy scents. In the mouth, the wine is slightly rustic, with medium to full body, outstanding concentration, good spice, and moderately astringent tannin in the long finish. This very good effort is approachable, but still requires several more years of cellaring; it should keep for 15 or more years. (RP)" (08/1998) K&L Notes: In the 1970s, director Francis Ford Coppola pur...

93 points Wine Advocate: "This has become an extraordinary wine. It boasts an opaque purple color, followed by a fabulous nose of licorice, jammy black-cherry, cassis fruit, minerals, and smoke. Powerful, full-bodied, moderately tannic yet exceptionally well-endowed, this wine needs another 2-4 years of cellaring; it will keep for 20+ years. The most limited-production Cabernet in the Phelps portfolio is the single-vineyard Backus Cabernet. It is a 6.75 acre parcel superbly situated south of the Oakville Crossroad next to such Napa heavyweights as Dalla ...

95 points Wine Spectator: "Dark, peppery and earthy overtones add substance to this chewy, remarkably complex red wine. It delivers a ripe core of plum and dried currant, then branches out, hinting at anise and mineral on the finish. Approachable now, but oh what a future this has. *Ranked #18 in Wine Spectator Top 100 of 1998* (HS)" (11/1998) 94 points James Halliday: "Medium to full red-purple; voluminous blackberry, licorice, black cherry and chocolate fruit aromas completely integrated with sweet vanillin oak on the bouquet; has a texture and struc...

1993 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (Balthus Label)
90 points James Suckling: "Mouton's great winemaking comes to the fore in this wine in the face of the difficult year of 1993. It's a surprisingly substantial Bordeaux for such a wet growing season, even now displaying strong blackberries and mint flavors. Full-bodied with tannins that are just coming around." (01/2015) 90 points Wine Advocate: "After less than persuasive performances in two potentially great years, 1989 and 1990, Mouton-Rothschild appears to have settled down, producing fine efforts in recent vintages, culminating with the enormously ...

1993 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Back In Stock!
90 points Decanter: "1993 was not a great year, with rainfall in September spoiling what had looked like a very fine vintage. The 1993 Mouton is perhaps better known for the controversial label by Balthus. 1993 Mouton was a surprise in this line-up, tasted last, with plenty of stuffing and a fine balance between plump red/black fruit, smoky oak, fine tannins, a fine line of acidity and complex spicy characters. Very nicely mature, this is not going to improve greatly but it can be drunk over the next 3-5 years. Harvested 23 September to 10 October. 80% C...

With their first distillation happening in 1749, Appleton has had some time to perfect the art of tropical maturation. For decades master blender and chief chemist Joy Spence has been crafting the style that sets todays standard for Jamaican rum. A blend of pot and column distillates, all of Appleton's rums reflect that special signature of Jamaican funk blended with soft and approachable characteristics.

Bid on this bottle of 1993 Domaine Robert Groffier Bonnes Mares Grand Cru (93BH). Burghound: "I hadn't had this since 2005 and it remains as attractive now as it was then with its distinctly earthy aromas of mostly secondary fruit that evidences just a wisp of sous-bois. There is fine density to the velvet-textured medium weight plus flavors that display fine power and persistence on the balanced and still mildly structured finish." (04/2019)
Current Bid: $425.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1993 Domaine Groffier Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru (93RP, 91JG). Wine Advocate: "This is an excellent 1993 Chambertin Clos de Beze from Groffier. It has a lovely nose of cranberry, pomegranate and a touch of blackcurrant, a bouquet that floats airily from the glass and is instantly entrancing. The palate is Groffier’s signature style with a firm bold structure, perhaps a touch of residual oak that has never been fully assimilated and just a touch of bitterness on the finish. The aromatics are more appealing than the palate, though this remains a fine and bold Clos de Beze. (NM)" (10/2014)
