1977 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Back In Stock!
Wine Spectator: "Full of lively cranberry, raspberry and herb flavors, with smoky accents and very firm acidity. Very good wine from an unheralded vintage." (11/1991)
Price: $499.99

97 points Wine Spectator: "Good ruby color still. The nose is fresh, with lots of crushed berry and plum, with a hint of piecrust. Full-bodied, with firm tannins and a caressing texture. This delivers loads of complex fruit and spiciness. Medium-sweet. A beauty. Will improve for decades, but why wait? (JS, Web-2008)" 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A deep garnet core with brick rim. The nose is very tight and quite conservative with strawberry, baked cherry, tobacco and wild hedgerow. 98 points Vinous: "The 1977 Taylor's Vintage Port is initially tight and conservative on the nose: strawberry, baked cherry, tobacco and wild hedgerow notes emerging but remaining tight-lipped. This needs a good decant! The palate is endowed with depth and concentration, very well balanced with an attractive crispness. Bid on this magnum of 1977 Heitz Cellars "Bella Oaks" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (93JG). John Gilman: "I am starting to come around to the impression that this is my favorite vintage for this cuvée, though perhaps a few of the younger ones I have in my cellar will eventually reach this same outstanding level. The bouquet on the 1977 Bella Oaks is very precise and pure, jumping from the glass in a vibrant mix of cherries, allspice, cigar smoke, a touch of cumin, a lovely base of soil tones, a dollop of petroleum jelly, dried eucalyptus and a discreet framing of cedary oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and impeccably balanced, with tangy acids, a great core of fruit, still a dollop of buried tannins and a long, complex and energetic finish. As the Heitz family does not allow their cabernets to go through malo, this wine is still very bouncy and has tons of life ahead of it. Great juice." (07/2019)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1977 Dow's Vintage Port (97JS, 93RP, 92WS). James Suckling: "This is really glorious and refined, offering a polished and creamy texture. Complex aromas and flavors with cream, dried fruit and nuts. Medium body. Very beautiful. A refined and glorious 1977 now. Real deal. " (01/2017)
Starting Bid: $250.00
