The vibrant, lively nose on the 1973 is just amazing! Orange marmalade, dried apricot, custard with hints of pepper and toasted nuts. Elegant, smooth, yet very creamy, rich and full on the palate. There is loads of fruit on the finish that seems to coat your palate and moves slowly down your throat to fill your chest with glowing warmth.

It's products like these that make me question why Armagnac hasn't completely taken over the back bar. The honest truth is that they're not able to produce massive quantities with a similar quality and price ratio. It's not that the grapes aren't there, but it's simply not the most obvious business decision for small producers. By selling lots of young eau-de-vie at a low price, they're robbing themselves of the opportunity to age the stuff and demand significantly higher prices down the road. Château de Pellehaut has been one of our top direct imports for the past year here at K&L. We've visited the Ténarèze producer twice over the past few years, always finding something new to bring home for our brandy fans. What really excited us this year, however, was a new project they we're working on called L'Age de Glace: a young brandy meant to drink on the rocks (hence the name "Ice Age").
