96 points Decanter: "Sourced from a clonal nursery test-block planted in 1989. Tobacco, tree sap, and rose petals on the nose. The palate is deft and lifted with a savoury, cured meat-like element showing itself. A structured and definitive Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir for the long haul. (ML)" (10/2020) 96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Named for the winemaker's late mother, this particular bottling is always a standout. It offers entangled layers of tangerine, strawberry and earthy leather. This is a fine wine to consider cellaring. (VB) " (06/2019) 95 points ...

2018 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend
Top Pick!
97 points James Suckling: "Love the sweet berries, black olives, tile and fresh herbs on the nose with floral undertones. Oyster shell, too. Full-bodied with round, creamy tannins that are beautifully polished and refined. Very long finish. All about finesse and wonderful length. 68% cabernet sauvignon, 19% cabernet franc, 10% merlot and 3% petit verdot. Drink after 2023." 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Located in Knights Valley, Sonoma, the Les Pavots vineyard is located in the oldest of the estate-owned sites, planted in 1989. It is situate...

97 points James Suckling: "The tightness and linear nature to this balanced and beautiful wine are so attractive. Bright and dense with lots of cabernet focus. Love the tannin and fruit balance. Drink after 2022, but already a beauty." (02/2019) 97 points Vinous: "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon continues to become more and more refined with time in bottle. Silky, wonderfully perfumed and nuanced, the 2016 is exceptionally beautiful. This is such a striking and vivid wine with tons of mountain character and pedigree to burn. (AG)" (01/2020)
Price: $129.99

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Les Pavots ’99 has a superb blackberry and blueberry scented bouquet that comes racing out of the blocks, a smudge of alcohol that does its best not to detract from freshness and definition. The palate is very pure and succulent with ripe blackberry, creme de cassis and kirsch. It is primal and youthful, a Cabernet of great dimension the “thrust”, but it is still very well balanced and destined to age for a couple of decades yet. This is a superb Napa Cabernet is just beginning to “motor”. (NM)" (07/2012) 9...

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 La Joie, which is 46% from Knights Valley, 32% from Chalk Hill and 22% from Alexander Valley, is a blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Showing loads of graphite, cedar wood, charcoal, crème de cassis and forest floor, this may well turn out to be a 50+-year wine. It tastes like a great first-growth Pauillac and has an amazing amount of complexity and richness. (RP)" (10/2015) 99 points James Suckling: "Sensational aromas of blackberries, blueberries, vio...

1996 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend
Back In Stock!
96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The powerhouse, opaque purple/blue-colored 1996 Les Pavots is a blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 6% Cabernet Franc. The nose offers up blackberry, licorice, cassis, and pain grille aromas. The superb extract, well-defined personality, and smoky, licorice, Asian spice, and blackberry flavors provide a thrilling tasting experience. It was bottled with neither fining nor filtration. There are approximately 2,800 cases of this fabulous effort. (RP)" (01/2000) 91 points Stephen Tanzer's Internat...

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A perfect wine is the 2014 La Proportion Dorée, a blend of 65% Semillon, 24% Sauvignon Blanc and 1% Muscadelle. This 650-case cuvée is from 29-year-old, dry farmed vines and was barrel-fermented. The wine is absolutely out of this world. With a light greenish gold color and a killer nose of lanolin, caramelized citrus, honeysuckle, orange marmalade and candle wax, the wine displays great acidity, a magnificent, massive, full-bodied mouthfeel, and seems to come across like a Sonoma County version of a dry Haut Br...

Over the past two decades, Kosta Browne has risen to prominence among California Pinot enthusiasts as a premier source for boutique, single-vineyard bottlings of extraordinary purity and luxurious complexity. The Gap's Crown vineyard is synonymous with Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. The elevation, exposure to winds, and generally cooler microclimate all make for wines of uncompromising elegance and vibrancy. Winery notes: "Gap’s Crown is considered by many to be one of the best representations of what the Petaluma Gap AVA, the southern component of Sonoma Coas...

94 points Decanter: "Attractively aromatic, this has ripe dark fruit scents with a touch of smokiness. The sumptuous mouthfeel is energised by exemplary Cabernet Franc freshness, while the liquorice-infused finish is long, elevated by an ethereal airiness. (YC)" (07/2019) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 Le Desir, an attractive blend of 53% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Malbec, is round, fruity, soft, fleshy, medium to full-bodied and seemingly fully mature. Enjoy it over the next decade. (RP)" (06/2012) ...

1995 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend
Back In Stock!
91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "First of all, Les Pavots is made in a backward, Bordeaux-like style that does not offer the gush of jammy fruit so noticeable in many California Cabernets. However, this is an authoritatively rich wine overlaid with a structural profile that suggests the wine needs 4-5 years of cellaring - at least in top vintages such as California has experienced in the '90s. The black/ruby/purple-colored 1995 Les Pavots (a 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, and 13% Cabernet Franc blend), which achieved 13.9% alcohol naturally...

The 1997 blend consists of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc. The wine was aged in French oak (50% new), and bottled without filtration. 100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Tasting like a great bottle of Château Lafite, the 2017 La Joie is based largely on Cabernet Sauvignon and brought up, I suspect, in mostly new French oak. Deep ruby/purple, with a heavenly bouquet of crème de cassis, lead pencil, cedarwood, graphite, and tobacco, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, an incredible sense of elegance and purity, building tannins, and a great, great finish. This majestic, regal Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon is going to require a decade of cellaring to hit maturity (although it’...

97 points James Suckling: "This is a reserved and tight Monte Rosso with bark and currant character. Wet earth. Full-bodied, balanced and extremely long. Fantastic, subtle finish. Reminds me of old Louis Martini Mountain Cabs." (11/2020) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso Vineyard comes galloping out of the glass with notes of crème de cassis, warm plums, cast-iron pan and bouquet garni, plus touches of lavender and olives. 98 points Vinous: "The 2018 Pinot Noir Running Fence Vineyard Cuvée Catherine is endowed with serious depth and intensity that give it a real feeling of vertical depth. The fruit profile leans towards the more blue/purplish realm, but it is the wine's understated richness that is impossible to miss. Bright saline notes underpin it all, leading to a beautifully sculpted finish that resonates with tremendous mineral intensity. In a word: dazzling. The Cuvée Catherine emerges from vines that surround the tasting room. (AG)" (01/2021)

96 points Vinous: "The 2018 Pinot Noir Bodega Headlands Cuvée Elizabeth is a gorgeous, elegant wine. Hints of rose petal, cinnamon and crushed red berry fruit all grace this lithe, understated Pinot Noir. In its first impression, the Cuvée Elizabeth is the most aromatic and lifted of these wines, but it gains volume and darker tonalities of fruit with aeration. If opened young, the 2018 will benefit immensely from being opened in advance. (AG)" (01/2021)

An intense bouquet of boysenberry, violet, and cassis aromas. Superb concentration of purple and red fruits on palate without any dimension of weight. There is tension between the stony mineral backbone, bright acidity, and striking red cherry and black currants. Silky tannins are entirely folded into the fruit. Finishes bursting with vibrant purple flavors and a rising violet perfume

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 La Muse (2,800 cases) is a legendary effort. The wine offers an opaque purple color and a gorgeous nose of lead pencil shavings, blackberry, incense, Asian spice, cocoa, plum, and a touch of chocolate and barrique. On the palate, more cassis and blackberry come to the forefront. The wine is unctuous, with adequate acidity and a stunning energy underneath the massive fruit and body. (RP)" (10/2016) 97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A gorgeous effort as well, the 2014 La Muse is a Merlot-dominated cuvee blended w...

99 points James Suckling: "A dark and seductive cabernet, this has stunning forest berries and enormous concentration and freshness. But, as delicious as it is now, this is also built for the long term. Great finish, where the interplay of fruit and fine tannins is complex. Goes on for minutes with dark berries, blackberries and hot stones. A core of greatness. A new wine to give a nod to the eighth winemaker of Beringer, Mark Beringer." (05/2019) 97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon 8th Maker is a tiny production, special cuvée by this ...

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2018 Aubert "UV Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (98RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Aubert Pinot Noirs were bottled at the beginning of July 2019. Medium to deep ruby-purple colored, the 2018 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard rolls out of the glass with intense notes of Morello cherries, rhubarb, raspberry pie, bouquet garni and lilacs with suggestions of Marmite toast, fungi, fragrant soil and forest floor. Full-bodied, the palate is packed with crunchy red berries plus loads of earthy accents, framed by firm, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long with a wonderfully spicy kick. Delicious now, this should age incredibly well, generously rewarding those with enough patience to defer their gratification. 98+ (LPB)" (10/2019)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2014 Failla "Whistler Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (93VN, 91WS). Vinous: "The 2014 Pinot Noir Whistler Vineyard is gorgeous. Deep, dark and intense to the core, the Whistler is unusually intense for the Sonoma Coast. Still, there is just enough freshness and verve to balance things out. Cloves, new leather and succulent black cherries meld into the finish. Readers should expect a bold, juicy Sonoma Coast Pinot. (AG)" (02/2016)
Starting Bid: $130.00

Bid on this bottle of 2011 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (92RP, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Pinot Noir Marcassin Vineyard has sweet berry fruit, roasted herbs, incense, a touch of background wood spice and foresty notes all present in this medium-bodied, slightly lighter style of Pinot Noir from Marcassin. This was a challenging vintage, but the wines turned out outstanding, and very Burgundian. The alcohol is 13.9%, which is one of their lowest sugar levels. The wine presents a very attractive, moderately intense perfume, good acidity and excellent precision. (RP)" (08/2015)
Starting Bid: $170.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Aubert "CIX" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (99RP, 94VN). It is full-bodied, multidimensional and a profound glass of Chardonnay. (RP)" (10/2016)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2016 Hirsch "Estate - East Ridge" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (95VN). Vinous: "The 2016 Pinot Noir Estate East Ridge is a wine of real precision and nuance. Although not as obvious as the other wines in this range, the East Ridge speaks with a sense of distinction. Small red berries, chalk, white pepper and blood orange are some of the notes that are laced together in this super-finessed, understated Pinot. In 2016, the East Ridge is incredibly distinctive, not to mention absolutely delicious. (AG)" (05/2019)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2019 Aubert "UV-SL Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay ((96-98RP), (95-97VN), 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A barrel sample, the 2019 Chardonnay UV-SL opens with compelling floral notes—honeysuckle and lime blossoms—over a core of red apples, green guava and honeydew melon with underlying suggestions of baking bread, allspice and marzipan. The full-bodied palate has a pleasant hint of phenolic grip to the texture with seamless acidity supporting the densely laden apple and tropical fruit flavors, finishing long and yeasty/toasty. (LPB)" (01/2021)

Of the 2012 Bevan "Summit 1376" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Aged in François Frères and Gamba barrels, it was made from Dijon clones 115, 667 and 777, and comes across like a grand cru from the Côte de Nuits. Bid on this bottle of 2016 Ultramarine "Heintz Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Rosé Sparkling Wine. One of the most exciting wine projects in California today happens to be an upstart garagiste with an obsession for redefining sparkling wine in America. Michael Cruse operates from a small industrial park in Petaluma just off the bustling Highway 101 corridor. After a brief career in molecular and cell biology laboratories, Cruse worked his first harvest in 2006. After learning about the meticulous, labor-intensive process of producing artisanal grower Champagne, he became convinced that if winemakers applied the same approach to sparkling wine in California, the results could be game-changing. Cruse now stands at the forefront of a burgeoning movement making incredibly beautiful sparkling single-vineyard wines from some of Sonoma's most acclaimed vineyard sites.

Bid on this bottle of 2000 Kistler "Cuvée Elizabeth - Occidental Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (99RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Pinot Noir Occidental Vineyard Cuvée Elizabeth is profound. It is slightly tight (from high tannin), and boasts layers of flavor, astonishing purity as well as fruit intensity, and a finish that lasts for nearly a minute. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (97JD, 97RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Pinot Noir Marcassin Vineyard, which comes primarily from the Calera clone (although I suspect there are a few mystery clones in their plantings), always seems to remind me of a grand cru from Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits, particularly Morey-St.-Denis. Dense ruby/plum, its sweet nose of strawberries, black cherry liqueur, fresh porcini mushrooms and forest floor is followed by a dark, full-bodied, rich and concentrated wine that is supple, dramatic, and even flamboyant. (RP)" (03/2016)
Starting Bid: $800.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Williams Selyem "Hirsch Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (99WE, 93ST, 92WS). Wine Enthusiast: "This expresses the greatness of its vintage and vineyard, offering wave after wave of raspberry and cherry pie flavors, plus notes of red currant, sweet licorice, spicy Dr. Pepper and smoky sandalwood. There’s also something exotically briary and wild that intrigues. Even more remarkable is the texture, an amalgam of acids and tannins that rivals any Pinot Noir ever produced in California. It should age for up to 20 years. *Ranked #2, Top 100 Cellar Selections of 2013* " (03/2013)

Bid on this bottle of 2002 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend (99RP, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Moreover there are just under 3, 000 cases of this spectacular wine, which I’m hoping many readers have cellared away. Inky black/purple, with a nose of incense, licorice, balsamic and Asian soy notes interwoven with blackberry, blueberry and hints of truffle and camphor, this wine is full-bodied, opulent and voluptuously textured, with sensational mid-palate, depth and richness. This is a killer Bordeaux-styled, ripe, exuberant, flamboyant red from Peter Michael that stands as one of the all-time great Les Pavots cuvées ever made. It ideally needs another 3-4 years of cellaring, although it is quite accessible and should keep for a minimum of 20 or more years. Bravo! Drink through 2035. (RP)" (06/2012)

Notes of forest floor, jammy raspberries, blueberries, boysenberries and spring flowers are followed by a full-bodied, textured, layered mouthfeel, and great intensity, precision and freshness. This stunning 2009 is already showing considerable complexity, and should age effortlessly for 10-15 years. The visionary husband and wife team of John Wetlaufer and Helen Turley have created a largely unprecedented legacy of extraordinary quality that is unsurpassed by anyone else in Northern California. Sweet tobacco, cedar, mint, licorice and dark cherries are laced into the subtle, polished finish. Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2014 Relic "Kashaya" Fort Ross-Seaview Pinot Noir. Robert Parker writes: "I’ve always found the wines of Relic to be creative and extremely well-made. This winery was created and has long been owned by Mike Hirby and Schatzi Throckmorton, who I first met many years ago when they were making wines at the Behrens Hitchcock facility high atop Spring Mountain."Winery notes: When we were offered the chance to work with Pinot Noir from this top-secret vineyard in the heart of the "true" Sonoma Coast, we jumped at the chance. This is a holy grail kind of site, where everything comes together: perfect soils, clones, exposure, micro-climate, and impeccable farming. This is the source of our Kashaya Pinot Noir. 2014 brought great aromatics, freshness amidst ripeness and elegant textures."

Connoisseurs Guide: "This winery's mastery of Zinfandel is once again evident here, and, if showing the richness and depth that we anticipate from Lytton Springs bottlings, this wine is keenly composed and comes with a little more polish than usual. It is young, it is incisively fruity and it is well-filled, and it forgoes bombast and flashiness for structured precision and great ageability. *Three Stars*" (01/2012)

Of the 2009 Kosta Browne "Amber Ridge" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, Wine Spectator writes: "Very tight, concentrated and focused, with a pronounced minerally and pebbly aroma that carries over to the palate. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2019 Aubert "Estate - Powder House Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay ((97-99RP), (95-97VN), 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A relatively new vineyard label for Aubert (the third vintage to be produced), the 2019 Chardonnay Powder House comes from eight acres of what are now estate-owned vines planted in 2013 to Hyde Old Wente and Mt. Eden clones on Goldridge soils. It prances out of the glass with showy scents of fresh nectarines, pink grapefruit, lime leaves and preserved lemons plus hints of struck flint and wet pebbles. The full-bodied palate possesses an almost electric intensity with bags of nervy citrusy flavors and a very lively backbone, finishing with great length and oodles of minerals. This should age fantastically! (LPB)" (01/2021)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Hirsch "East Ridge" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (95W&S, 94WE, 92BH, 92RP, 92ST). Wine & Spirits: "Since 2010, when winemaker Ross Cobb joined grower David Hirsch at his far-coast vineyard in Fort Ross–Seaview, the team began creating barrel selections from their oldest blocks on the east and west ridges of the vineyard. This selection is from three blocks on the eastern ridges, planted mostly to heritage clones, including Mount Eden, Swan and Pommard. There’s something great in this 2010, a cool, uneven vintage that appears to have favored these vines, yielding a wine that handles its structure with an impression of lightness, one that contrasts the stony earthiness of its tannins with sunny notes of woodland fruit. For now, the wine’s beauty is most apparent in the end, a lasting impression that suggests this will grow increasingly complex and expressive over the next ten years. " (04/2013)
