2018 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend
Top Pick!
97 points James Suckling: "Love the sweet berries, black olives, tile and fresh herbs on the nose with floral undertones. Oyster shell, too. Full-bodied with round, creamy tannins that are beautifully polished and refined. Very long finish. All about finesse and wonderful length. 68% cabernet sauvignon, 19% cabernet franc, 10% merlot and 3% petit verdot. Drink after 2023." 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Located in Knights Valley, Sonoma, the Les Pavots vineyard is located in the oldest of the estate-owned sites, planted in 1989. It is situate...

97 points James Suckling: "The tightness and linear nature to this balanced and beautiful wine are so attractive. Bright and dense with lots of cabernet focus. Love the tannin and fruit balance. Drink after 2022, but already a beauty." (02/2019) 97 points Vinous: "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon continues to become more and more refined with time in bottle. Silky, wonderfully perfumed and nuanced, the 2016 is exceptionally beautiful. This is such a striking and vivid wine with tons of mountain character and pedigree to burn. (AG)" (01/2020)
Price: $149.95

96 points Wine Spectator: "An ideal combo of youth and age, this is lush and rich, but still has backbone and muscle.—Non-blind Arrowood tasting (February 2015). Drink now. (TF, Web-2015)" 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Speciale was even better. Here’s a wine coming up on 20 years of age in another 18 months, and it is still remarkably young and vigorous. Dense purple, with beautifully sweet crème de cassis and blackberry fruit intermixed with incense, graphite, and a touch of oak, this was a great year for...

97 points James Suckling: "This is a reserved and tight Monte Rosso with bark and currant character. Wet earth. Full-bodied, balanced and extremely long. Fantastic, subtle finish. Reminds me of old Louis Martini Mountain Cabs." (11/2020) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso Vineyard comes galloping out of the glass with notes of crème de cassis, warm plums, cast-iron pan and bouquet garni, plus touches of lavender and olives. Medium to full-bodied...

99 points James Suckling: "A dark and seductive cabernet, this has stunning forest berries and enormous concentration and freshness. But, as delicious as it is now, this is also built for the long term. Great finish, where the interplay of fruit and fine tannins is complex. Goes on for minutes with dark berries, blackberries and hot stones. A core of greatness. A new wine to give a nod to the eighth winemaker of Beringer, Mark Beringer." (05/2019) 97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon 8th Maker is a tiny production, special cuvée by this ...

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend (96RP, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Les Pavots (a 2, 730-case blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot) exhibits big notes of chocolate fudge intermixed with dark berry fruit, forest floor, underbrush, and some smoky oak. The wine is full-bodied, with remarkable intensity, low acidity, and a fleshy, opulent mouthfeel. (RP)" (12/2008)
Starting Bid: $360.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Hidden Ridge "55% Slope" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon 55% Slope comes from the Sonoma side of the Mayacamas Mountains. It is 100 % Cabernet Sauvignon from a vineyard planted at 1, 700 feet. This is a remarkable wine and reminiscent of the great classics from the golden era of the Mayacamas on the Napa side (such as the 1968, 1970, 1973 and 1974) come to mind when tasting this beauty. It is simply loaded. Dense purple in color, the wine has notes of licorice, crème de cassis, Asian plum sauce, cedar wood and earth. Full-bodied, opulent and irresistible already, it is capable (because of the impeccable balance and purity) of aging 20-25 or more years. This is a modern-day classic that could compete with very finest Cabernet-based wines in the world. (RP) 97+" (03/2016)
Starting Bid: $263.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend (96RP, 95WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Les Pavots, a 3, 440-case blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot, comes from Knights Valley. It exhibits a distinctive truffle, chocolate, blackberry and cassis-scented bouquet, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and fabulous concentration, purity and density. This magnificent effort’s open-knit style was surprising as most Northern California 2009s made from Bordeaux varietals are somewhat austere and closed at present. (RP)" (12/2013)
Starting Bid: $260.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Vérité "La Joie" Sonoma County Bordeaux Red (99RP, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another great showing for a wine from this vintage, the 2004 La Joie is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. The majority of the fruit came from the Alexander Mountain Estate, followed by Knight’s Valley, Bennett Valley and Chalk Hill. Full-bodied, powerful and concentrated, it is richer than either the 2003 and 2001, and comes closer to the 2002’s personality. Sweet notes of caramels, espresso roast, forest floor, camphor, plums, chocolate and blackberries emerge from this full-bodied, unctuously textured, chewy, fleshy 2004. (RP)" (04/2014)
Starting Bid: $370.00

Bid on this 2-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 2004 Pride Mountain Sonoma/Napa Counties Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (93ST, 92WE, 91W&S) and 1-bottle of 2005 Pride Mountain Sonoma-Napa Counties Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (92RP, 92WE, 90ST). Of the 2004 Pride Mountain Sonoma/Napa Counties Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L), Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Saturated, bright medium ruby. Crushed cassis, licorice and minerals on the nose. Pure, primary black fruit and mineral flavors framed and enlivened by surprisingly juicy acidity. Very firmly built, vibrant wine with the structure to reward aging. Winemaker Bob Foley noted that Pride's cabernet had better than usual acidity in 2004, and certainly more than in 2003 or 2002; the harvest here lasted into early November. If the 2004 Reserve Claret is better than this, it will be a stunner. " (06/2007)
Starting Bid: $200.00

Bid on this 4-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 2007 Peter Michael "L'Esprit des Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend, 1-bottle of 2008 Peter Michael "L'Esprit Des Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend, and 2-bottles of 2009 Peter Michael "L'Esprit des Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend. Of the 2009 Peter Michael "L'Esprit des Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend, Vinous writes: "As good as Les Pavots is in 2009, the real surprise is the 2009 L'Esprit des Pavots, which costs about half the price and delivers nearly as much pleasure. To be sure, $95 a bottle isn't cheap, but the Esprit delivers the goods and then some. The 2009 is a huge, mouthfilling wine bursting with dark fruit. It doesn't have the textural finesse or sophistication of Les Pavots (especially in the tannins), but it is nevertheless incredibly pleasing right now. I loved it. (AG)" (02/2012)
