Bid on this 1.5 liter 3-bottle lot of 2016 Domaine Gérard Julien Nuits-St-Georges "Aux St. Julien" (1.5L). William Kelley writes: "Etienne Julien, a sixth-generation winemaker, took the helm at this 10-hectare domaine in 2012, and this was my first visit to his estate. Julien told me that his family's first mise en bouteille took place with the 1947 vintage and that since 1959 the entire production has been bottled at the domaine. . . The domaine expanded in the 1960s, with purchased vineyards in Côte de Nuits-Villages, Aloxe-Corton and Nuits-Saint-Georges, and that continued under Etienne's father who acquired some Echezeaux. Worked soils, cuvaisons of two weeks after a cold soak and a year's élevage in barrel followed by four months in tank before bottling are the rudiments of the approach. Gourmand, expressive and charming, these are nicely rendered reds in the modern style. . ."
