We sell virtually no spiced rum here at K&L. This is not because spiced rum is inherently bad, it's just that the vast majority of the spiced rums on the market are packed full of artificial garbage and they taste like it. Not so with Bounty. The St. Lucia classic is a lovely and inexpensive spiced rum for whatever your cocktail or sipping needs might be. It's foucsed on vanilla and cinnamon, but also includes a local St. Lucian bark from the Richeria grandis "Bois Bande" tree giving it a unique local flavor.

DDL's historic stills, built in the 18th and 19th centuries, are still in operation and produce a number of amazing flavors. The incredible Agricoles coming out of Trois Rivières are renowned worldwide, but only recently become available in the US. The Rivers Antoine Estate is one of the oldest and most traditional rum estates in the world. Founded on the northeast coast of Grenada in 1785, the estate produces extremely limited quantities in the most ancient tradition. The cane is harvest from 15 hectares of organically farmed fields grown on the shores of the Caribbean ocean. Hand cut and crushed by watermill built in 1840, no more than 3000 Liters of fresh cane juice are processed each day. Without the aid of modern technology, or electricity for that matter, the juice is concentrated in metal pa...

The legendary Probitas (Veritas in every other country) is finally upon us! This "extremely exciting" (a direct quote from K&L's spirit buyer) is a collaboration between the excellent Foursquare distillery in Barbados and the wonderful Hampden Estate in Trelawny Parish, Jamaica, where they are "rewriting the rules for rum." It begins with a base of molasses-based rum distilled expertly by Richard Seale on his famous Coffey still. These are mingled with two rare rums from Jamaica's most authentic distillery, are two "low-ester" rums from the OWH marque (O...

Duncan Taylor possesses some deep stocks of single malt and rum in their Scottish warehouses. Here we have a beautiful 2007 produced Hampden rum which is at a very approachable 50.8% ABV natural cask strength. The 2007 vintage of Hampden is an unusual expression of the distillery, which was likely run for only a short time during the year. It's thought that the ester levels correspond to the c<>h marque that has ester levels between 1300-1400 gr/hL AA. It's wild and funky offering notes of wood polish, tomato juice, nduja sausage, ginger, parsley combin...

Wine & Spirits: "A classic Dickensian dissembler, Reverend Stiggins is a Pickwick Papers character who sermonized about temperance while indulging in constant sips of pineapple rum. His name graces this new rum, a project that Maison Ferrand took on, sparked by a suggestion from spirits writer David Wondrich (the two have collaborated in recent years on a Curaçao). Using a base of Plantation Original Dark Rum that’s been macerated with Queen Victoria pineapple flesh and a portion of white rum that’s been distilled with the rinds, they’ve created a barrel...

The Arawaks Distillery is located in the village of Cavaillon in the southern or "Sud" province of Haiti. There Fritz Vaval harvests cane for his special rum by hand. The hand-cut cane, in this case of the varietal "Madame Meuze," is collected pressed and into the fermenters within a few hours. The rustic open-air distillery creates the perfect conditions for spontaneous wild fermentation and the incredibly volatile soup of fresh sugarcane juice feeds numerous yeast and bacteria that live naturally on the cane and in the distillery.
