In 1973, Daniel Dugois bought 2 hectares of vineyard and a house equipped with wine cellars in a village called Les Arsures, where he was born. He cultivated the vineyard and sold his production primarily to Henri Maire, one of the most prominent producers in Jura at that time. In 1982, Daniel made his first harvest in his own cellars and began to sell his wines to consumers. His first ever harvest earned him his first Gold Medal for his Chardonnay at the Jura Wine Contest. Daniel and his wife Monique have continued to work on the quality of their wines ...

Junmai Ginjo is the second-highest grade of sake, the rice-based alcoholic beverage that has become a strong symbol of Japanese culture. To qualify for this prestigious title a sake must be made with rice polished (to remove bran and improve taste) to below 60 percent of its original weight, and must not be fortified with distilled alcohol. Producer Note: "This is a light and comfortably dry premium Sake with the aroma of fresh cantaloupe and banana followed by medium body bringing refreshing Mandarin orange like overtones. With just the right amount of...

Wine Spectator: "Juicy, with good cut to the savory-inflected dried red berry and cherry tart flavors. The sleek finish is crisp and minerally. (KM)" (09/2021)

94 points Vinous: "The 2012 Vin Santo is compelling, as it so often is. Caramel, honey, brown sugar and kirsch are some of the many notes that build effortlessly. In 2012, the Vin Santo is not quite as opulent as it can be, but that is probably a good thing in this case. (AG) " (06/2023)

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "At first, this whiskey is easy to underestimate, since the amber color and mild toffee aroma give little away. But one sip, and it is clear this whiskey means business: Deep vanilla cookie and cigar tobacco flavors unfold to a big, burnt-caramel finish, which washes over the palate like a rolling wave. Manhattan-worthy. (KM)" (03/2011) K&L Notes: Finally, cask strength Jack. Not sure how long this will last, but at least we've got some serious juice coming out of Lynchburg. Critics, even the ones who discount the brand outri...

Possibly the sexiest Nigori we have ever tasted. You don't usually see Nigori at a Daiginjo level! This is sleek and delightfully light. There is a touch of zippy acidity, which helps lift the sweetness of the rice. Great fruity notes and a very clean style for a creamy sake.

96 points Vinous: "Simply stunning, the 2018 Riesling Hyland Vineyard opens with a complex and enticing blend of tropical melon, dried peaches, honeyed florals and sweet smoke. It flows across the palate with pure silk textures, mixing savory and sweet. Its seductive blend of tart young mango contrasts lemon curd, all lifted by stimulating acidity. This finishes with exceptional length yet also wickedly fresh, literally puckering the cheeks and forcing the mouth to water as a cascade of inner florals fades. This is magic in a glass. The 2018 is a late ha...

Wine Spectator: "Shows a light piney hint before bright chamomile and honeysuckle aromas fill in. Rather nervy through the palate, featuring a finish of green almond and fennel notes. (Web-2014)" K&L Notes: A wonderful expression of Manzanilla, the La Cigarrera always comes to us very fresh, expressing the briny, sea air quality for which these wines are known. It is bone dry, appley and has suggestions of loquat fruit and pits, with terrific complexity, no doubt due to the bodega's prime location in the "barrio bajo" section of Sanlucar, as well as its...

95 points James Halliday: "Blended from wines aged for a decade or more in oak (up to 15 years). Fabulous concentration here, as per the house style, while also establishing real elegance and spirit freshness. It's a fine balance to achieve and it's quite effortless in nougat, orange peel, raisin freshness with dark chocolate and creamy caramels. Long, unwavering finish. *Gold* (JP) " (08/2022)

98 points Wine Advocate: "The NV Pedro Ximenez Solera 1927 is non-vintage, but does have some 1927 material in it. This is totally dark brown/amber with notes of figs, toffee, caramel syrup, molasses and coffee. It is dense, super sweet, intense, rich and an amazingly, unctuously textured, thick beverage to consume slowly and introspectively after a meal. Drink now through 2050, or even longer. (RP)" (11/2015) 96 points Wine Enthusiast: "One of the world's best PX wines is Solera 1927, the pride of Alvear. Whatever solera stocks went into this bottling...

Harvested directly from a private citrus farm in Orosi CA, these oranges are special. After being sliced and smoked they are dusted with Ocotillo Salt from Austin TX. The end result is a spicy, sweet heat that enhances the citrus and elevates your drink. Don't call it a garnish-it's a lifestyle and the fruit abides.

93 points Wine & Spirits: "This has the unmistakable delicacy and softness of El Maestro Sierra’s house style. Aged under the veil of flor for four years, it has strong acidity, a deliciously abrasive texture reminiscent of the albariza soils and a spicy finish that invites you to drink the whole bottle with a plate of pescaíto frito." (08/2017) 90 points Wine Advocate: "The non-vintage Fino offers up aromas and flavors of sea salt and roasted nuts. It is excellent as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to sushi. 98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Getting a big “Wow” in my notes, the 2017 Chateau Rieussec is an extraordinary Sauternes that has everything. Awesome notes of orange zest, honeyed flowers, ripe pineapple, peach, and spice all soar from the glass, and this beauty is already complex, has full-bodied richness and power, a great mid-palate, and a beautiful spine of acidity. It's a brilliant, brilliant wine that can be enjoyed today or cellared for two decades or more" (02/2020) 97-98 points James Suckling: "This is very focused and an intense with so much spice an...

Coralie Onde is from the winemaking family behind Domaine les Ondines, but opted to start her own project independent of her family estate in 2008. She formed Domaine de la Ganse in Vacqueyras when she purchased some terrific old vine fruit, also taking a small holding when the family estate was split. With close to nine hectares now, Coralie began the organic certification process and was officially certified in 2014. Her vines are aged from fifteen to fifty-five years and the soils are primarily chalky-clay with some galet (river stones). Her Vacqueyra...

93 points Wine & Spirits: "Inland from the coast, Montilla-Moriles does not feel the influence of the sea as greatly as Jerez. In the warmer climate, the wines tend to be more unctuous and ripe. In this case, the pedro ximénez has been vinified under flor, which gives it an inescapably salty flavor that overpowers the candied apricot and prune fruit. In the end, it’s a dry, delicious sherry for jamón serrano." (10/2015) 92 points Wine Advocate: "The NV Fino Gran Barquero is aged 8-10 years under flor, pushing the limits of biological aging, which gives...

Jancis Robinson: "Benchmark classic smoky-salty nose. Hay. Subtle, beautifully fresh, moderately sustained. Mouth-wateringly dry. Reliable and *Good Value* (JH)" (04/2016) Wine Advocate: "Talking about which, the NV Tio Pepe Fino is an icon of Sherry wine. Produced from Palomino grapes aged in the Tio Pepe solera for an average of four years under flor. It has a light nose of dried flowers, almonds and olives, in a subtle way and a dry palate dominated by the chalky notes. Light and easy to drink, it is a good introduction to Fino Sherry.
