Launois "Cuvée Réservée" Grand Cru Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
90 points James Suckling: "Attractive notes of pie crust, crushed nuts, lemon rind and praline. It’s balanced and biscuity with fine bubbles. Dry and straightforward finish." (01/2024) K&L Notes: This 100% estate grown, Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs is made entirely with old Chardonnay selections from Mesnil, Cramant, and Oger. This is our number one most re-purchased Champagne, and it is often sold out! We have been working with Champagne Launois, located in the Grand Cru of Mesnil, for more than 16 years now, and they are our number one seller for good r...

Launois "Veuve Clemence" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
The Veuve Clemence gets four years of aging on the lees to the Reserve's three, and comes from older vineyards. They are both entirely estate-grown, Grand Cru Chardonnay. Before now, this cuvée was only available for the French market, but because of our great relationship with Launois, we were able to convince them to sell us a little. If you like it, don't hesitate - they may not have more for us the next time I order. While the wine certainly has mid-palate power, it is a dry, serious Champagne that loves to be paired with shellfish and is a wonder wi...

Ariston Aspasie "Réserve" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
Don't let the name change fool you, this is the same great Champagne that used to be called "Carte Blanche". The Ariston Aspasie reserve is made of 40% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir, and 30% Meunier. A balanced cuvée in every way, this Champagne is clean and powerful at once. It has a natural toasty quality from spending five full years on the lees, and plenty of refreshing zip from the far northern location of the vineyards. No bottle in our inventory transports me to Champagne like this one. It is as true to the terroir and as pure as anything I could wis...

2012 Barde-Haut, St-Émilion
Top Pick!
93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Lots of chocolate, mocha, darker fruits, and dried herb-like notes emerge from the 2012 Château Barde-Haut, a medium to full-bodied, concentrated 2012. It's showing a touch of maturity yet still has plenty of tannins and structure, good mid-palate depth, and outstanding length. I continue to think 2012 was a great vintage for the Right Bank, and this certainly doesn't change my mind." (03/2020) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Offers lovely purity and mouthfeel, with notes of velvety plum, boysenberry and cherry preserves gliding easi...

Antech Brut Nature Blanquette de Limoux
Top Pick!
Jancis Robinson: "Apple blossom and minty. Dry, but gentle thanks to the soft bubbles. More tingling than fizzing. Green apples, pomelo pith and peel, chicory leaf and a tiny hint of nectarine. Mauzac stripped bare. I'd love to try this with cockles! (TC)" (07/2020) K&L Notes: Antech's Brut Nature is produced with no added dosage, which translates to a super clean and crisp glass of bubbly. It is composed of 90% Mauzac, 5% Chenin Blanc, and 5% Chardonnay. All harvesting is done by hand. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, and the wine undergoe...

2021 Domaine de l'Amandine Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages Séguret
Top Pick!
95 points Decanter: "A simmering nose of juicy strawberries, crunchy raspberries and vibrant plums. Youthful and expressive with stylish chiselled tannins, a refreshing acidity and a lovely pure finish. (DWWA 2023)" K&L Notes: L'Amandine was established in 1968 by Jean-Pierre Verdeau who followed the tradition of winemaking in his family. Born in the region, Jean-Pierre continues to work in the vineyards and is now joined by his son-in-law, Alex Suter (whose father was the vineyard manager of Rustenberg winery in South Africa). They work together to bui...

Franck Bonville Grand Cru Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
92 points Wine Advocate: "Disgorged in March 2023 with a dosage of 8.3 grams per liter, the NV Brut Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs from Franck Bonville is showing brilliantly, with aromas of lemon oil, almond, butter, spring flowers and crisp orchard fruits. It is tauter than the Unisson counterpart with a medium to full-bodied palate, crystalline and lively texture and a slightly smoky, ethereal, long finish. Crafted from vines planted in Avize and Oger, it’s a blend of 2019 and 2020 vintages. (YC)" (11/2023) Vinous: "The NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru ...

Alexandre Le Brun "Tradition" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
At just 7.5 acres, Alexandre Le Brun is the smallest producer from Champagne that we import, or even carry. He only makes wine from half of the grapes he brings in, selling the rest off to négociants. His production is just 1,000 cases a year, total. This tiny scale allows Alex to do nearly everything himself and his hands-on approach shows through in the finished product. He only uses his own estate fruit for his Champagne, and, although small, it is diverse. He farms 22 plots in eight different villages. Among these are some of the oldest vines in Cham...

Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé Champagne
Top Pick!
94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The NV Champagne Brut Rose is an attractive pale salmon hue, with a fresh perfume of wild strawberry, ripe peach, white and red flowers, a hint of tropical fruit, and grapefruit. The palate is rounded, with fruit up front and through the mid-palate, and it has a silky and fresh lift. There is a wonderful ease and drinkability to this wine, which delivers balance and finesse. (AF)" (11/2022) 93 points James Suckling: "Pale salmon color, showing notes of sliced strawberries, apples, grapefruit and crushed biscuits. Sleek, dry and ...

2015 Alexandre Le Brun "Cuvée Fascination" Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
Alexandre Le Brun is the smallest producer that we import (or even carry) from Champagne at just 7.5 acres. He only makes wine from half of the grapes he brings in, selling the rest off to negociants; his production totals just one thousand cases a year. This tiny scale allows Alex to do nearly everything himself and this hands-on approach shows through in the finished product. He only uses his own estate fruit for his Champagne, and this wine comes from just two rows in the grand cru of Chouilly, in a plot called La Derriere du Mont Aigu. This is electr...

Jancis Robinson: "As they don't grow anything but Chardonnay, they buy Pinot Noir from Paul Dethune in Ambonnay. 90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir (as red wine). Stainless steel, 100% malo. Dosage 8.3 g/l. More fruity than their whites. Blood orange with a touch of sweetness that I didn’t find in the white wines. Lime bonbon. Dusty spices on the finish, like fine-ground walnut skin. This is very satisfying. Plump in the middle. Wonderful food rosé. (TC)" (05/2023) K&L Notes: This little bottle of rosé is delicious! This is the first time we have had th...

95 points Decanter: "This deeply coloured wine has an inviting nose of dark cherry and chocolate. The palate is dense and rich, with mouth-coating blackberry fruit and layers of chocolate, savoury spice and gently chewy tannins. (2023 DWWA)" (06/2023) K&L Notes: Produced by the Union des Vignerons des Côtes du Rhône, the Boissy & Delaygue represents specific parcel selections from top growing areas overseen by the Union. 2005 de Sarenceau, St-Emilion
Back In Stock!
Château de Sarenceau is a family property and the 4th generation runs it today. This small estate of only 9 hectares allows a precise and careful work of the vines. This is the first time we have carried this property and it was our biggest buy on April 2022 trip. Rare enough to be underlined, this Saint-Emilion is a 100% Merlot! It offers an evolved nose, with notes of truffle, plum and licorice. The mouth opens with a lot of fruit and freshness, and it finishes with ripe black fruit flavors. A great wine from a great vintage. Will cellar well 10 mor...

Petiau Brut Grande Réserve Champagne
Top Pick!
What a value! This blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir spends five years on the lees before release, and comes from the 1er Crus of Trépail and Vaudemange as well as the grand cru of Ambonnay. This creamy, brioche-filled Champagne has a white gold color and extraordinary elegance for the price. This is a poised, elegant wine with perfect bubbles after its long ageing and a clean, dry finish. -Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer

92 points James Suckling: "Classy red here with currants, blueberries and mahogany aromas. Full body, chewy tannins and a long finish. Intense and powerful. " (07/2014) Wine Spectator: "Taut and racy, with a delicious beam of linzer torte, dried black currant and roasted fig flavors, all laced with tobacco leaf and espresso notes. The solid, racy finish shows nice length and cut. Petiau "Cuvée Prestige" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
In the part of Champagne known most for Pinot Noir, there is a magical place called La Perle Blanche de la Montagne de Reims, the east-facing slope of this small but prominent hill. The first village of this sub-region is the Premier Cru of Trépail, where the Petiau family tends to a small but exceptional vineyard. In the past, this family ran the nursery for the surrounding area, and like many of the best producers in Champagne, they have continued to nurture their own massal selection of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, choosing not to use the earlier ripeni...

2010 Haut-Bergey, Pessac-Léognan
Top Pick!
92-93 points James Suckling: "This is a wine that shows lots of chocolate, tobacco and currants. Full body, with velvety tannins and a long finish. All there." (04/2011) 93 points Wine Advocate: "The Haut-Bergey 2010 has a very concentrated bouquet with dense blackberry, briary, crushed stone and tobacco on the nose that unfolds in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins on the entry. There is a lot of extraction here, but it is in tune with the acidity and the structured finish has plenty of vibrant red fruit and energy to see it thr...

Launois "Quartz" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
The Quartz comes from the famous Les Chétillons parcel in Le Mesnil sur Oger and has four atmospheres (59 psi) of pressure instead of the normal six (88 psi). While I would be hard pressed to tell by looking at or tasting this Champagne that it has lighter carbonation, it tastes very different from the Reserve due to the wonderful vineyard site. Since less yeast and sugar were added to the wine during bottling, it has less leesy flavor, and because there is less dissolved carbon dioxide in the wine the flavors of the grapes underneath shine more. Look fo...

This Champagne is composed of two-thirds Pinot Noir and one-third Chardonnay. The Champagne has a graceful, delicate balance that Verzenay wines sometimes lack but with the signature hazelnut Pinot core. I found it to have creaminess to complement its racy cherry fruit on the palate and an extraordinarily long, dry finish. It is dosed at 9 grams per liter: very dry! It will age very well. The Arnoulds own 27 acres in the village of Verzenay, a quite sizable holding in this high-rent area. It is planted to 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, which is avera...

Family owned for over 150 years, Bel-Air Lagrave is a highly respected Bordeaux estate in Moulis. Classic in style, and emphasizing elegance and purity of fruit, this predominately Cabernet wine (with a good portion of Merlot and a bit of Petit Verdot), generally spends nearly 20 months in oak, some neutral and anywhere from 35 - 50% new depending on the nature of the vintage.

Fallet-Dart "Clos du Mont" Brut Champagne (2006)
Top Pick!
This single-walled vineyard is the top of the line from Fallet-Dart. Although not labeled as a vintage, it is 100% 2006 and composed of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir that is barrel fermented. It is aged for over 12 years on the lees before release. The word "tirage" in French, which appears on the back label, means "bottling", and this all 2006 champagne was bottled in fall of 2007 and has spent an incredible 12 plus years on the lees. 2022 Domaine Cherrier Frères Sancerre
Top Pick!
Domaine Cherrier was founded in 1930. Since then four generations of the family have run the estate. The domaine has limestone and calcareous clay soils that wonderfully influence the character of the grapes grown there. The Sancerre is consistently delicious, with citrus, chalky minerality and light floral notes. Its dry finish complements seafood and cheese beautifully. K&L French Regional buyer Keith Mabry says: "The Cherrier to me is always one of the biggest crowd-pleasing Sancerres/Sauvignon Blancs from anywhere in the world."

Boulard-Bauquaire "Trepail" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne Vieilles Vignes
Top Pick!
This Champagne comes from one plot of 70-year-old Chardonnay vines in the Montagne of Reims village of Trepail. It is aged for three years on the lees. The Champagne has a chalky, creamy, bread bakery-esque nose, and a concentrated impression on the palate. As one would expect from such ancient vines, it delivers the goods on the finish with plenty of chalk as well as a bit of honey and white fruit. This makes a perfect aperitif, but will also pair well with seafood such as seared scallops or even raw oysters. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)

Damien Hugot Grand Cru Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
Damien Hugot is a 25th-generation grower, with 20 acres of estate vineyards, mostly in the Grand Crus of Cramant and Chouilly. The Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs is composed entirely of Chouilly and Cramant, and mostly from old massal selected vines. This wine, which is 100% Chardonnay, has incredible richness and great toastiness for a Blanc de Blancs. We are very proud to import these wines directly, and offer them at such good prices. If you are looking for a bottle of Champagne that has both toast and the classy chalk of the best vineyards for Chardonnay,...

This wine was made by Eric Fournier of Chateau Canon fame. A nice combination of New World elements (rich currant and blackberry fruit and nice ripeness) along with balancing elements of cigar box and pepper. Moderate amounts of tannin, and a very low price, make it a great introduction to the wines of Bordeaux.

Fallet-Dart "Grande Sélection" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
Wine Enthusiast: "Dominated by Pinot Noir, this rich Champagne, mainly from the 2014 harvest, is full of mature fruitiness that is discovering toasty flavors. (RV)" (12/2021) K&L Notes: This all-estate Champagne is composed of 70% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay, and 15% Meunier and aged for six years on the lees. It has very fine, brioche-like aromas from the long sur-lie aging, as well as savory and cherry notes from the high-quality Pinot. It is very rich and long in the mouth, with a fine bead, again from long aging.

2022 Domaine la Clef du Récit (Anthony Girard) Sancerre
Top Pick!
Wine Spectator: "An inviting style, with notes of ripe nectarine and citrus blossoms that take on a zesty profile on the palate. Flinty and chalky, with zippy acidity, this is very refreshing and bright. (KB)" (11/2023) K&L Notes: Winemaker Anthony Girard grew up in his family's Sancerre winery, but spent a number of years learning about wine production all over the world before returning home to continue working with Sauvignon Blanc. While helping with the namesake Girard label, Anthony wanted to create his own project on the side and eventually purch...

92 points Decanter: "Lovely upfront and distinct aromas that span lemons and limes, apples and pears, with wet stone and light brioche touches. The palate is wonderfully creamy, with delicate soft bubbles and flavours driven by lemon curd and toasty shortcrust pastry. This is refined, elegant and offers good complexity for the price; excellent value. There's lots to like here, it's tasty and easy to enjoy. 2019 Hubert de Boüard Chardonnay Vin de Pays de l'Atlantique
Top Pick!
90-92 points Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Le Chardonnay has achingly delicate scents of honey-drizzled white peaches, spiced apples and Bosc pears with wafts of marzipan and pie crust. The medium-bodied palate delivers loads of finely knit apple and stone fruit flavors with a silken texture and bags of freshness, finishing long and spicy. Since Chardonnay is not one of the Bordeaux AC's permitted grapes, this wine uses the relatively new Vin de Pays de l'Atlantique designation. But don't let the declassified designation fool you—this is serious Chardonnay an...

Domaine Pacory 16 Year Old "K&L Exclusive" Domfrontais Calvados (750ml)
Top Pick!
This will be one of the most crowd pleasing spirits we've ever brought in from France: this 16 year single barrel exclusive of 70% pear and 30% apple distilled Calvados from the small producer Domaine Pacory. In the Domfrontais region of Normandy, the brandies are generally at least 60% pear. Located on the ferme des Grimaux, the Pacory property has been in the family since 1939, but it wasn't until 1959 that Claude Pacory decided to try to perfect the art of Calvados distillation. The torch was passed to Frédéric in 1986 and he's been carrying the tradi...

Alexandre Le Brun "Passion" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
Alexandre Le Brun is a young winemaker from Monthelon in the Ardenne (Marne) region of Champagne. He is a ninth generation winemaker whose family established themselves in Champagne in 1750 and built their cellars in 1822. This bottling is simply great! It is a 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that spent an incredible eight years on the lees! It is full, rich and creamy with a lush character. The Chardonnay comes through on the finish with bright green apple fruit and a touch of minerality.

The name of the estate is the first indication of its long, illustrious past. Located in the heart of Provence, near routes traveled by the Crusaders in the early Middle Ages, the Commanderie de Peyrassol was founded by the Knights of Templar who were dedicated to protecting the Crusaders en route to, and in, the Holy Land. The first recorded grape harvest took place in 1256 and winemaking has continued uninterrupted throughout the centuries. An incredibly food-flexible wine!" (02/2019) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Well-integrated tannins give this wine a rich, velvet character that is underlined by the blackberry fruits. (RV)" (12/2021) 91 points James Suckling: "Intense nose of toast, dried pineapple, lemon rind, walnut, cocoa bean and Virginia tobacco. Medium-bodied with sharp acidity and soft bubbles. Mineral, austere and toasty character. Bone dry." (09/2021) K&L Notes: This super well-balanced bottle of Champagne gets an astoundingly luxurious seven years of aging on the lees! A pale yellow wine with tiny bubbles, this Crémant de Loire Brut is rounded and delicate with a fine, nervy, complex nose and the freshness of Chenin Blanc, floral Chardonnay, and fruity Cabernet Franc from 20- to 30-year-old vines. 2022 Franck Millet Sancerre Blanc
Top Pick!
The Millet Sancerre has been a favorite here at K&L for a long time. Grown in limestone-clay soil, the wine reflects the terroir wonderfully. The flavors are bright with lime, mineral, passion fruit, and that wonderful chalkiness one wants from a Sancerre. This wine over-delivers and pairs beautifully with oily seafood dishes, and of course, your favorite cheeses.

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Wafting of garrigue, blackberries and dusty earth, there's so much to appreciate on the nose itself of this inky Grenache blend. Rounded and plush, it's richly packed with plummy black cherry and berry flavors that mesh into fine-grained but gripping tannins. A wine that should reach peak from 2022 to 2037 yet likely hold further still. (AI)" (03/2021) 92 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape Clos Du Roi checks in as a blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, and 15% Syrah brought up 10% new barrels, with the balanc...

2022 Franck Millet "Insolite" Sancerre
Top Pick!
One of K&L's very finest buys from France, this is a reserve cuvée, made from Millet's chalkiest limestone soils. There is a long maceration at very low temperatures to extract as much flavor and character as possible. The resulting wine is intensely charged with stone fruit and minerality, and bright citrus notes. The wines of this family domaine have been a staple here at K&L since the 1994 vintage when Franck and Betty Millet drove a long way (to Beaune!) on Easter Sunday to meet Clyde and crew to present the wines. We love these wines for their fresh...

With its strong mineral edge, the wine is textured and now ready to drink. (RV)" (06/2020) K&L Notes: The Louis Victor from Coutelas is made in the solera style, from one large barrel containing a perpetual blend. The Ariston's vineyards are vastly different than those of the other blanc de blancs producers that we carry. The steeper slopes, less chalk and more fossils in the soil of Brouillet make for a rich, creamy style of Chardonnay Champagne that will appeal to just about anyone. This is one of my favorite toasting Champagnes. All of the flavors are up-front; it is open-knit and fun. It is a perfect way to start a party. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)

Boulard-Bauquaire "Carte Noire" Brut Blanc de Noirs Champagne
Top Pick!
This great bottle comes from the far northern edge of Champagne in the Massif St-Thierry, north of Reims. All of the vines for this 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Meunier cuvée come from Cormincy, the last village in Champagne before the flats facing out towards the Ardennes. As one would expect from a Blanc de Noir, this is a full-bodied wine with plenty of savory red fruit flavor. Due to its far northern provenance, this Champagne also has great snap and refreshment to balance out its power. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)

Vitallis is a new hidden gem our buyers found in the Mâcon, where small producers fly under the radar. In classic Burgundian fashion, the Dutron family has been growing vines since 1835, and now owns some of the oldest and best parcels in the village of Fuissé, located in the Pouilly-Fuissé district. The vines for this release are more than 85 years old! In the glass, the wines live up to the hype.
