Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2015 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Morey-St-Denis ((88-91BH), (89-91RP), 90JG, (88-90VN)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Morey St Denis Village has a little more fruit concentration compared directly with the exquisite Chambolle-Musigny Village, the fruit darker and perhaps without quite the same degree of transparency. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe, sweet tannin counterbalanced by crisp acidity, a subtle confit-like note that emerges towards the finish and with fine salinity that makes you come back for another sip. Très Morey in style, this is another very impressive village cru courtesy of Taupernot-Merme. (NM)" (12/2016)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine René Leclerc Griottes-Chambertin Grand Cru ((90-92BH)). 90-92 points Allen Meadows' Burghound: "Very mild reduction can't begin to suppress the elegant, airy and refined extract of red pinot fruit nose that merges seamlessly into rich and relatively full flavors that possess a supple mid-palate that firms up moderately on the sappy and mouth coating finish. This is pretty rather than truly profound though if it can add a bit more depth with time in bottle, that may change. For the moment however, this appears to possess very good to excellent potential." I didn't find the reductive notes that Burghound noticed - perhaps he had tasted from barrel? Rich and sumptuous - a great Burgundy for those who want a little more "New World" character to their wine, but still want an unmistakable Burgundy with a great pedigree. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru was showing some quality new oak on the nose that still needs to be subsumed. It is tightly coiled but it just needs time because there is freshness, definition and beguiling complexity locked in here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, very well judged acidity and clever use of new oak lending body without compromising terroir expression. There is excellent detail and vibrancy to the stony middle weight flavors that culminate in dusty and mildly edgy finish where a touch of warmth appears. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Perrot-Minot’s 2005 Chambertin Clos de Beze Vieilles Vignes (from 50-year-old vines) leads with a jaw-dropping nose of cassis, licorice, citrus zest, black raspberry liqueur, wood smoke, and candied violets. In the mouth, this presents a smelted alliance of liqueur-like black fruit essence, saline minerality, and deep, roasted meatiness. A subtly oily, creamily-textured feel covers a wealth of refined tannins. For all of its sheer finishing, distilled-fruit intensity and grip, this never neglects the first duty of wine -- to refresh -- and displays gravity-defying lift as it heads down the runway and takes off for a spectacularly long, high-flying finish of utmost clarity and replete with nuances. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This may be the most aromatically complex wine today with noticeable wood spice that remains a background element, framing flat out gorgeous ripe Pinot fruit and deep, rich and expressive plum and earth notes of superb nuance. The flavors are classic Mazis with that unmistakable sauvage character running the length of the wine and a massive level of dry extract that renders the flavors almost thick yet there is nothing heavy or inelegant about it. This will last for 3 decades, perhaps longer and will certainly require plenty of bottle age before it's ready for prime time but this is a great Mazis of Herculean proportions. *Don't Miss!*" (01/2005)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru, which contains 40% whole bunch fruit like the Chapelle Chambertin, has those typical traits of correctness and strictness on the nose. The black fruit feels a bit aloof and distant, but that is what you expect—this is not a Charmes-Chambertin! The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red and black fruit tinged with fig, cinnamon and baking spices, lively and tensile with real frisson toward the finish. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Containing 40% whole bunch fruit, the 2016 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has a well-knit, focused bouquet with blackberry and briary scents, cold wet stone and hints of black truffle. With time, there is a faint smokiness that begins to develop. The palate is very well balanced with sappy black fruit tinged with wild strawberry and blood orange. This has superb structure, not overly tannic, but it exerts a gentle and insistent grip. This is a riveting Chapelle-Chambertin from Jean-Louis and Jean Trapet. (NM)" (12/2017)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "In contrast to the brooding nose of the Lavaut, this is actually quite expressive with ripe but relatively fresh and cool aromas of an array of red berry fruit aromas that are liberally laced with stone and underbrush notes. There is very fine intensity to the concentrated and extract-rich medium-bodied flavors that despite the suave mouth feel exhibit fine delineation on the intense, long and chewy finish. This is very firmly structured and will need ample time to come together." (01/2012)

This is seriously good and the density is such that this is pretty much a block of stone today. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos-Saint-Jacques is all about finesse and seamless beauty. A refined, aristocratic Burgundy, the Clos Saint-Jacques is endowed with the silkiest of tannins and flat-out beauty from start to finish. The wine fleshes out on the palate with layers of red berries, flowers and licorice that gain volume and breadth with time in the glass.
