2021 San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri
Top Pick!
99-100 points Decanter: "In 2021, ‘we had a nicely paced harvest... surely a very fortunate vintage for us, for Bolgheri,’ said Priscilla Incisa della Rocchetta at the launch in London of the 2021 vintage of Sassicaia. Welcome rain in mid-August came at just the right time to save the harvest, and production ended up being slightly higher than in 2020. Around eight to 10 separate vinifications were made, fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and spontaneous malo. The wines were racked to second- and third-use barriques in December 2021, the...

2013 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
97 points James Suckling: "Perfumed with apple, green mangoes, perfume and honeysuckle. Medium-bodied with a creamy and integrated texture and a subtle finish. Bitters. Botanicals. Intense." (07/2023) 96 points Decanter: "Silky, narrowly sculpted and serene, Dom Pérignon 2013 is a less hedonistic release than the 2012 (and less intensely energetic than the 2008), but showcases a beautiful mid-place between tension and expressiveness already. Orange-coloured fruit – apricots, mango and orange – play along with snappy lemon syrup and delicate red fruits,...

2021 Antinori "Tignanello" Toscana
Top Pick!
98 points Wine Advocate: "First made in 1971, this legendary Italian wine now celebrates its 50th birthday. Happy Birthday, Tignanello! The Marchesi Antinori 2021 Tignanello (made with 79% Sangiovese, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc) pulls on all the heartstrings. To be released in May, the wine shows a quintessentially pretty taste profile with tart fruit flavors, redcurrant, tea leaf, heritage rose, crushed white pepper, licorice, nutmeg, clove and chopped mint. It opens slowly to reveal more richness and exuberance with time, becoming dow...

2007 Clynelish 16 Year Old "Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseur's Choice" K&L Exclusive Cask #311259 Single Refill Sherry Hogshead Nonchillfiltered Cask Strength Highlands Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)
Top Pick!
The historic Clynelish distillery offers some of the most unusual spirit in Scotland. Distinctly waxy, as many old malts were, it is one of the few distilleries to have maintained this characteristic in the modern era. Long ferments and tons of copper contact lead to a surprisingly fruity flavor profile to accompany that mysterious waxy note. The combination is beguiling and once bitten by the flavors, you’ll join the Cult of Clynelish is a hurry. Pair it with a subtle, yet active refill sherry hogshead as we have here from the legendary Gordon & MacPhai...

Hotalings 16 Year Old "Old Potrero" Bottled In Bond Single Malt Rye Whiskey (700ml)
Top Pick!
Fritz Maytag, the visionary who ushered in the craft beer movement, is also responsible for a resurrection of pot distilled whiskey in America. Not satisfied with merely rescuing Anchor Brewing in 1965 and resuscitating its iconic steam beer, he expanded to spirits in 1993. Fritz established Anchor Distilling Company in the back of the beer brewery and propelled the return of pot-distilled whiskey to the United States. Inspired by the rye whiskeys being made at America’s founding and Scotland's finest single malts the San Francisco distillery on Potrero ...

Daniel Bouju Tres Vieux "Brut de Fut" Premier Cru de Cognac Grand Champagne Cognac 700ml
Top Pick!
The unprecedented Tres Vieux Brut de Fut is one of the most memorable and unique offerings from any producer in Cognac. Bouju is well known for speaking out in the region against the use of additives and has carved out a niche as one of the few Grand Champagne producers willing to offer unfiltered, uncut, full-strength Cognac. This brandy is the house's top offering and represents some of the oldest stocks with a minimum age of 40 years. The color is dark like coffee and when we inquired about that insanely dark color, Bouju explained that long term agin...

2015 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Champagne (Previously $370) (Previously $370)
Top Pick!
98 points John Gilman: "The 2015 Louis Roederer Cristal is composed this year from a cépages of sixty percent pinot noir and forty percent chardonnay, with twenty-five percent of the vins clairs raised in oak barrels. As is customary, the still wines do not go through malolactic fermentation for Cristal and the wine was finished with a dosage of seven grams per liter in this vintage, after aging nearly seven years sur lattes. It delivers a beautifully refined aromatic constellation of apple, nectarine, a superbly complex base of chalky minerality, a touc...

Suntory "Yamazaki" 12 Year Old Japanese Single Malt Whisky (750ml)
Top Pick!
93 points Whisky Advocate: "The first thing you notice is the elegant fragrance of lychee, spring blossoms, lily, rosewater, and raspberry meringue. Deeper in, grassy notes with star fruit, kumquat, and kaffir lime leaves. The flavors offer perfection in their simplicity: silky honey, soft spices, crystalized pineapple, barley sugar, lemon, and orange. On the finish, the spices chatter on and on as the sweet citrus and honey fade in and out. One to cherish. Top Pick!
Ledaig Single Malt is a cherished gem from the Hebridean Isles and comes from one of the oldest distilleries in all of Scotland. Produced on again, off again since its founding in 1798, and licensed since 1823, the Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull is known primarily for its two single malt marks. Tobermory, an unpeated dram and Ledaig, with its heavily peated characteristics. Both are widely regarded as malts of outstanding quality. Both malts owe their rich character to the unusual stills that lie at the heart of the distillery - bulbous stills ...

John Gilman: "The Bonville family owns twenty hectares of vines in the villages of Cramant, Avize and Oger, with the domaine now co-run by Gilles Bonville and his son, Olivier... The impressively complex bouquet is quite fine, offering up a deep and complex nose of pear, apple, lemon blossoms, chalk, a hint of pastry cream, orange peel and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and zesty, with a good core, elegant mousse and an overt dose of new wood on the long finish." 2019 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac
Top Pick!
99 points James Suckling: "The aromas to this are really amazing, with a potpourri of spices and dried flowers, as well as redcurrants, sweet plums and even some peaches. Full-bodied with layers of ripe fruit and ultra-fine tannins that spread across the palate in an encompassing yet always elegant and pure way. It’s succulent and unadulterated. Like crushed, perfectly ripened grapes. The length is rather endless. The tannins build. Fabulous young red. Camus is an underrated domaine with good grand cru holdings in Gevrey-Chambertin. It's existed, more or less, since 1732, but mostly after the phylloxera epidemic, when Joseph Camus purchased abandoned vineyards. The wines are not filtered, so you'll often find sediment, but this ensures that every iota of flavor from the grape makes it into the final wine. "The prices at this domaine are down-right reasonable, " according to the Burgundy Report.

Egly-Ouriet Grand Cru Extra Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
95 points Decanter: "Although this appears as the 'house' non-vintage, in character it is more akin to a vintage wine that needs some time on cork. Tasted young, the saturated fruit—apricot, spiced apples, grilled lemons—is already expressive, yet not fully unsprung. Based on 2018 with 40% reserves back to 2016, the heat of 2018 is in the fruit profile rather than weight or grip, and is more about persistence than pure power, underlined by the oak élevage yet not coloured by it. 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay from Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay. 100% ba...

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Ceanda comes all from St. Helena and is based on 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Petit Verdot and Merlot. Aged 20 months in 75% new oak, it has a pure, layered, balanced, and full-bodied style as well as textbook notes of darker currants, tobacco leaf, new leather, and chocolate. Its oak is beautifully integrated, and again, the purity of fruit is remarkable. Drink it over the coming 15-20 years." 100 points Wine Advocate: "Revisited from the July 2019 disgorgement, Egly's 2008 Brut Grand Cru Millésime was showing as brilliantly as ever. The wine seemed to shut down a little in early 2020, but it is already beginning to unwind, and this was the most expressive bottle that I've drunk to date. Offering up an incipiently complex bouquet of orchard fruit, citrus oil, pralines and freshly baked bread, now complemented by hints of iodine, clear honey and mirabelle plum, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with immense depth and concentration, racy acids...

Laurent-Perrier "Grand Siècle" Iteration #26 Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
100 points James Suckling: "This is really something. Electric on the palate. The aromas are so complex with sliced fresh and dried ginger, subtle pie crust, tarte tatin and hints of nutmeg with some salted caramel. Toasted bread, too. Always subtle. The palate is full- to medium-bodied yet hemmed-in with a freshness and balance that draws you back. Savory and vibrant. It's full of energy. Spectacular. Fascinating." Suntory Hakushu 12 Year Old Japanese Peated Single Malt Whisky (750ml)
Top Pick!
Whisky Advocate: "Fragrant and herbal aromas, with pine needles, basil, green bell pepper, pea pod, black truffle, peppercorn, and smoke from smoldering dry mosses and wood shavings. It’s very smooth and refreshing, with pear, peppermint, lemon, lime, green tea, kiwi, and herbal notes, finishing with chopped mint, more herbal layers, and gentle peppery spice. 2014 Egly-Ouriet Grand Cru Millésimé Extra Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
97 points Wine Advocate: "One of the very finest wines produced in this less heralded vintage is Egly's 2014 Brut Grand Cru Millésime, a strikingly vinous and enveloping Champagne that wafts from the glass with aromas of pear, mirabelle plum, freshly baked bread, almond paste and honeycomb. Full-bodied, satiny and layered, its textural attack segues into a deep, concentrated mid-palate of exceptional purity and cut, concluding with a long, penetrating and mouthwateringly saline finish. As ever, it's a blend of some 70% Pinot Noir with 30% Chardonnay from...

93 points Decanter: "This cuvée is always such a clear-eyed picture of snappy, fragrant Meunier full of just-ripe apricot, fresh almonds and an almost citric focus on the palate. Based on the 2019 vintage with reserves from 2018 and 2017, there's plenty of fleshy orange ripeness from these two years, but not an inch of fat. This needs at least six months post-disgorgement to really come out of itself. A 100% Meunier from the village of Vrigny in the Petite Montagne de Reims. No oak. 94 points John Gilman: "The 1983 Cantemerle is a superb wine that has been rightly lauded since its initial release way back in 1985. I have had the pleasure to drink this vintage of Cantemerle with frequency over the years, and it has only gotten better and better as it has had a chance to blossom with bottle age, and it is probably now just starting its plateau of peak drinkability. This most recent bottle was utterly classic and even better than the bottle I reported on a while back on my feature on the 1983 vintage, as it wafts from the glass in a fi...

Krug "Grande Cuvée" 171ème Édition Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
99 points James Suckling: "The tightness and tension of this is impressive considering the youngest wine from this is 2015 (hot and dry year), with some wines going back to 2000. Ginger and orange zest. Some creme brulee. It's medium-bodied with apple, pie crust and floral character. It's salty and zesty yet, at the same time, complex and gorgeous. Chamomile and other floral teas highlight everything. Turns rich and flavorful at the finish. Terrific release. Really takes off at the end." 93 points Wine Advocate: "Graham is another great port house, producing one of the deepest-colored and sweetest styles of vintage port. Along with Taylor and Fonseca, Graham has probably been the most consistent producer of great port in the post- World War II era. Their tawnys are quite good rather than exceptional, but their vintage ports are truly sublime and sumptuous." (12/1988) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Medium ruby-red. 2013 Duckhorn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Top Pick!
95 points Wine & Spirits: "The top cabernets from 2013 continue to develop well—this relatively late release from Duckhorn has benefited from its time in bottle, feeling vibrant, with a dynamic interplay of tart cherry flavors and brisk, refreshing tannins. Renee Ary, who was promoted to lead winemaker at Duckhorn in 2014, blended this wine from estate-grown cabernet and purchased fruit; 45 percent of the lot aged in new French oak barrels, adding to the savory black-olive richness of the tannins, while the purple fruit drives past any direct impression ...

94 points James Suckling: "This offers lots of plums, blueberries and violets on the nose. Some fresh-herb and green-olive undertones. Full-bodied and balanced with fresh fruit, sweet vanilla and wet-stone undertones. Chewy tannins and a long finish. Great potential, but already delicious. Impressed." (11/2019) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Blended with 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Malbec, this vintage is superb and exuberant in flavors of chocolate-covered plum, baking spice and dried herb. 92 points Jeb Dunnuck: "From Chardonnay planted in 1961, the 2018 Champagne Grand Cru Bouzy Les Mottelettes pours a bright silver/yellow hue and takes on ripe aromas of candied Meyer lemon and salted pineapple. Full-bodied, it displays a more powerful personality on the palate, with a pillowy mousse, a rich texture, and notes of yellow apple on the finish. I like this, but I’m excited to see where the Mesnil goes when it’s ready to be bottled. Drink 2023-2033. (AF) " (11/2023) K&L Notes: Blanc de blancs from Bouzy? 2019 Pauillac de Latour, Pauillac
Top Pick!
94 points James Suckling: "This has chocolate, cedar and walnuts as well as some currant aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied with some lovely fruit and juiciness." (04/2024) 93 points Jane Anson: "Easily the best Pauillac de Latour in recent years, showing supple tannins at five years old, textured and rippling with juice, opening to show gourmet smoked plum and blueberry fruit. Has the graphite edge of the appellation, waves of cocoa bean, liqourice and smoked earth, and the balance of 2019. The structure is already welcoming, even if the fruit young, a...

The incredible Domaine de Jouanda is one of the best estates that has remained essentially unknown in the United States despite an explosion in interest in the Armagnac category. The family Poyferre has found success in France in top restuarants and bottle shops, but is not widely distributed stateside and remains a hidden gem here. This family, the same that once owned the excellent Chateau Leoville-Poyferre, commercialize their Armagnacs more as family tradition than a profit-making endeavor. This exceptional single cask was sold to this bottler as the "Williamson" blended malt and therefore cannot include the source on the label. But we have no problem telling you that this excellent whisky was distilled on the famous little stills located just outside the little seaside town of Port Ellen. Adorned in the throwback label, the Thompson Brothers, are clearly giving the old nudge nudge wink wink to the famous old bottling from nearly a century ago, with block letters and cursive writing. 99 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine's dark garnet color with minimal bricking suggests a relatively youthful wine and this certainly could age longer, although it's also delicious now. Wonderfully complex floral and herbal scents easily move into deep, rich flavors of chocolate and cherries, sprinkled with a healthy dose of Douro minerality and spice. Drink or hold. The mousse is elegant, and it’s long on the palate, with another level of refinement and precision. There’s more focus here, with great length and a wonderful and balanced savory edge. At this stage, it still feels like it would benefit from more time in bottle. (AF)" (11/2023) 94 points Wine Advocate: "As ...

2013 Bertani Amarone della Valpolicella Classico

98 points Decanter: "The current-release 2013 vintage features a nose of dried cherries combined with spice and smoke, adding a savoury element. The tannins are still tight but fine-grained, and balanced by the firm, linear acidity. There's weight and breadth on the palate due to the immense fruit concentration, with a persistent finish. Elegant and poised. (MCK)" (02/2024) 97 points James Suckling: "A super, dense core of mixed dried berries, together with notes of caramel and a mix of mild Indian spices, from coriander to mace. Allen Meadows of Burghound writes: "The Camus family has been a fixture in Gevrey-Chambertin for more than two centuries. In about 1850 the cultivation of vines had already been started by the family. 100 points Decanter: "Wonderful, concentrated and still astonishingly young, this has brushes of violet aromatics rising above the tight cassis fruits and rich black truffle, and the classic menthol edging of a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated Pauillac. We drank this over lunch and it was breathtaking, but were told that 24 hours later it had blossomed even further, so make sure you give this a serious amount of time in carafe to open up - something that gives you just a small clue as to how structured, layered and complex the wine we are dealing with here i...
