2020 Kalinda Redwood Valley Mendocino Sauvignon Blanc
Top Pick!
This wine comes from one of the more renowned Sauvignon Blanc producers in Northern California. Really! But, we offer this beauty at a price much lower than what you’d pay at the winery, as for decades now, our Kalinda private label has been providing K&L customers with awesome wines at a fraction of what they'd normally pay under the producers' mainstay labels. Naturally, no producer wants their wines on the market for less than what they'd usually sell for, so the trade-off is anonymity.

2017 Copain "Tous Ensemble" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (Elsewhere $23) (Elsewhere $23)
Top Pick!
91 points Wine Spectator: "Refined and open-textured, with a buttery and toasty allure to the airy blend of white fruit and spice flavors. The juicy finish has accents of ripe citrus. Drink now through 2024. (KM)"

98 points Wine Enthusiast: "This opulent wine offers amazingly concentrated, ripe fruit flavors and a creamy texture. Layers of black cherry, blueberry and raspberry syrup are followed by rosemary and pine. Made from 80% whole clusters and 20% aged in new oak, it is an indulgent and delicious wine that beautifully supports its fruity extravagance with a slightly tangy and subtly tannic texture. *Cellar Selection* (JG) " (04/2021) 95 points Vinous: "The 2018 Pinot Noir Estate - Field Selections is the most complete of the Pinots in this range. Readers w...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This taut, balanced wine emphasizes mineral, earthy aromas and crisp, bone-dry fruit flavors on a medium-bodied frame. It is appetizing and palate-cleansing. (JG)" (08/2019) K&L Notes: Winery notes: The grapes were sourced from two vineyards, both organically farmed. The dry-farmed Lolonis Vineyard, planted in 1943 and recognized as the oldest Sauvignon Blanc vineyard in California, provides minerality and the austerity we strive for in our rendition of Sauvignon Blanc. McFadden Farms Willow Block, at the northern-most reach...

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Chardonnay Alder Springs Vineyard displays expressive grapefruit, yuzu zest and orange blossoms notes with touches of cedar, croissant and beeswax. Medium-bodied, fine, fresh and with lovely toasty/savory flavors coming through on the palate, it offers satisfying length and lovely harmony. (LPB)" K&L Notes: 94 points Tasting Panel: "Silky and elegant with lovely texture and precise flavors of tangy citrus and smooth vanilla oak."

2018 Drew "The Field Blend - GSM" Mendocino Ridge Rhône Blend
Top Pick!
95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This quietly impressive wine wraps superfine tannins around deep, haunting flavors that range from ginger-spice cookies to cooked blueberries, new leather and dark chocolate. It’s big in terms of flavor impact, but the wine itself is just medium to full bodied, and offers a silky, polished texture that’s hard to resist. *Editors’ Choice* (JG)" (06/2021) 93 points Vinous: "The 2018 Field Blend is dark, fleshy and wonderfully inviting. Black cherry, chocolate, licorice, spice, menthol and leather all flesh out in a succulent, ...

90-93 points Vinous: "The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Game Trail is decidedly aromatic and peppery in its flavor profile, much of that a reflection of the personality of this site planted at 1400 feet. Hints of spice, licorice and chocolate add complexity to the dark-toned flavors, but the wine's overall feel leans towards the more savory side of Cabernet. (AG)" (04/2020) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This ageworthy wine grown at 1,400-feet elevation is dark in color, dense in flavor and braced by plenty of firm, chewy tannins. It is well packed with vivid b...

2018 Marietta "Gibson Block" McDowell Valley Mendocino Syrah
Top Pick!
96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Gibson Block Syrah comes from very old vines interplanted with other varieties like Grenache, Trousseau Noir and Mission. They are dry-farmed, picked together and co-fermented. It has a deep ruby-purple color and deep, layered aromas of tar, earth, blackcurrant liqueur, cast iron and dried violets. The full-bodied palate bursts with juicy acidity, sparks of Luxardo cherry and a silky, rounded mouthfeel. It finishes very long and perfumed. (EB)" (06/2021) 94 points James Suckling: "Blackberry, black-lic...

Goldeneye in Anderson Valley has long been considered one of the benchmark producers of the region. Their Pinot Noirs have been consistent best sellers here at K&L for at least a decade. When we were offered some of their vintage Brut Rosé, a wine typically reserved for winery direct purchase, we jumped at the chance and weren't disappointed! Winemaker's Notes: "Anderson Valley has earned acclaim for the complexity and distinctiveness of its sparkling wines. Made from our very best blocks of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, our vibrant and alluring Goldeneye B...

90 points Wine Spectator: "Fresh and fruity, with buoyant raspberry and cherry flavors, backed by crisp acidity. The lithe finish offers light mineral and spice notes. (KM, Web Only-2020)" K&L Notes: Erin Brooks writes in the Wine Advocate: "Copain has a new winemaker. Ryan Zepaltas came on board in 2017 for blending, and 2018 will be his first official full vintage. 'We are not going to change our style,' he says. 'We are still making wines in a more restrained style from Anderson Valley, Mendocino and the Sonoma Coast.'"
Price: $24.99

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Rose petal and mint accents merge with deep, concentrated black-fruit flavors in this medium- to full-bodied wine that is laced with velvety, fine-grained tannins. It combines superb balance with layers of fruit and subtle spices for a very compelling palate. *Cellar Selection* (JG)" (06/2021) K&L Notes: "Fog Eater" is an Anderson Valley colloquialism referring to coastal dwellers, people blanketed by the fog that settles over the valley off the Pacific.
Price: $44.95

94 points Vinous: "The 2015 Pinot Noir Bearwallow Vineyard is a total knock-out. Rich, explosive and forward, the 2015 possesses striking fruit intensity and purity in every dimension. Dark red and bluish-hued fruits and ripe, silky tannins add to the wine's immediacy. This is an especially plush style for Rhys, but it works beautifully. The 2015 will be even better in another few years, but it will prove virtually impossible to resist young. (AG)" (08/2017) 93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "There are two wines from the Bearwallow Vineyard in Anderson Valley, wh...

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Complex fruit flavors and a snappy texture make this medium-bodied wine both refreshing and satisfying. Brilliant sour cherry and rich grapefruit notes light up the palate. (JG)" (10/2020) Wine & Spirits: "A spicy, cool rosé of grenache, barbera and syrah, this wine has the strawberry sweetness and peppery edges to take on char-grilled pork. " (08/2020) K&L Notes: This is a slightly unusual blend of 48% Sangiovese, 25% Grenache, 16% Syrah, with 8% Barbera, and just 3% Zinfandel, from McDowell Valley Vineyards in the Hoplan...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This reasonably priced wine is arguably one of Mendocino County’s best Cabernets, year in and year out. Aromatic, complex, nicely ripe and full in body, it starts with enticing aromas of toasted oak, pencil shavings and cigar box followed by deep layers of black cherry, blueberry, anise and cocoa. Moderate, well-integrated tannins beef up the texture nicely and bode well for mid-term aging. *Editors’ Choice* (JG). " (10/2021)

A co-fermented blend of Grenache Blanc, Albariño and Verdelho, from Suisun Valley.
Price: $4.99

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Vivid oaky, earthy aromas lead to ripe firm flavors of apple and citrus in this assertive and well-structured wine. The char and wood-smoke nuances carry over to the palate, along with a nice nip of tannin and firm acidity that help to offset the richness. (JG)" (05/2019) K&L Notes: All from Roederer Estate's Organic / Biodynamic vineyards in Anderson Valley. A phenomenal deal in everyday Chardonnay.

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Hints of earth, leather and black tea weave through this delicate, almost soft-textured wine, giving it delicious complexity that builds with each sip and lingers on the finish. It was aged for 16 months in 23% new French barrels for just a touch of oak spice. " K&L Notes: One of my favorite vineyards in Anderson Valley, Wentzel always seems to deliver the goods. Waits-Mast have coaxed a particularly detailed rendition into bottle this year, don't miss it! (Ryan Woodhouse - K&L Domestic Wine Buyer) Winemaker's Notes: "At a r...

93 points John Gilman: "The 2019 Mourvèdre included fifty percent whole clusters and comes in at 13.7 percent octane. The wine delivers a fine nose of red currants, dark berries, garrigue, roasted game, stony soil tones, bonfire and a fine array of upper register sweet botanicals that very much recall young Tempier Bandol from the vintages of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with a superb core and mineral drive, ripe, firm tannins and a long, complex and gently funky finish that is the hallmark of you...

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "This extraordinary wine offers a tantalizing, bold, black-pepper aroma that leads to deep, just-ripe black-fruit flavors and an array of clove, espresso and earth accents that give it delicious complexity. It is tightly wrapped in fine-grained tannins at this point, but will bring out more complexity and smoothness with time. *Cellar Selection* (JG)" (05/2021) 95 points Decanter: "The more savoury and pepper-driven of the Drew Syrahs, this showcases the elegantly animalistic heights that Mendocino County can achieve. The pal...

94 points Vinous: "The 2019 Pinot Noir Faîte de Mer Farm is the most elegant and complete of the Mendocino wines in this range. It is distinguished by layers of bright, red-toned fruit and soaring aromatics. Bright acids support a core of crushed raspberry fruit, wild flowers, mint, spice and crushed rocks. I very much like the vibrancy and cut here. The Faîte de Mer Farm is simply gorgeous. (AG)"

100% Pinot Noir Rose from Wiley Vineyard at the western or "Deep End" of Anderson Valley closest to the Pacific Ocean. This pinot noir is picked from 40 year old vines, stright pressed to create its very light pink hue. Fermented with only native yeast, then rested in neutral French and Hungarian oak for three months. This is crisp, zesty, dry rose with lovely tart, juicy red fuits, spiced citrus peel and freshly chopped herbs.

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The current release of the NV Brut Rosé is made up mainly of fruit from the 2015 vintage and is a blend of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay. It was made with about nine grams per liter dosage and was disgorged in March of 2019. Pale salmon-pink in color, it has a lively nose of red berries, crushed stone, musk melon, floral hints and citrus peel and a bright and fresh palate with loads of perfumed red berries and energetic mousse, finishing long and uplifted. (EB)" (09/2020) 91 points Wine & Spirits: "There’s ...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The current release of the NV Estate Brut is made up mainly of fruit from the 2015 vintage. It is a blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir and was made with about ten grams per liter dosage. Disgorged in October of 2018, it has a fresh, open nose with pure fruit expression: crushed apples, pears and lemon peel mingle with touches of stone, flowers and toast. The medium-bodied palate offers a lovely dichotomy of toasty fruits with uplifted citrusy, minerally accents with a finely beaded mousse, and it finishes...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Very ripe and luscious, this full-bodied Zin oozes rich berry-jam flavors on a smooth mouthfilling texture that has a touch of good tannin for grip. (JG)" (09/2020) Wine Spectator: "Racy and jammy, with floral raspberry, rhubarb, toasty and spice flavors that finish with a burst of fruit. (TF)" (06/2020) Connoisseurs Guide: "Fully ripe without tipping to excess and showing touches of chocolate and earthy spice to its relatively dense, dark berry fruit, this full-bodied offering is of a more rustic bent, and, while its incl...

2018 Anthill Farms "Comptche Ridge Vineyard" Mendocino County Pinot Noir
Top Pick!
94-96 points Vinous: "Another stellar wine in this range, the 2018 Pinot Noir Comptche Ridge is fabulous. In this vintage, the Comptche Ridge is a bit richer and deeper than it has been, while avoiding some of the austerity this wine can show. Beguiling in its aromatics and finely sculpted, the 2018 is marvelously complex. There is plenty of tannin, and the acids are bright (as they are for all these wines), but the 2018 is deep and so multi-faceted. It will appeal most to readers who enjoy taut, structured reds. (AG)" (04/2020) 94 points Robert Parker...
Price: $49.95

Winery Notes:"60% Sangiovese, 20% Grenache, 20% Zinfandel. All produced in smaller lots and aged in neutral barrels. Grenache aged for 12 months, Sangiovese and Zinfandel aged for 9 months. This time in the barrel allows the wine to soften so that when we put it into a can it’s ready to drink! Silky, medium-bodied, bing cherry, strawberry, sandalwood, licorice, cranberry and plum. Try with red sauce pasta dishes, tacos, pizza, burgers, anything chocolate."

2015 Rhys "Bearwallow Vineyard'' Anderson Valley Chardonnay
Back In Stock!
94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The single vineyard release from Anderson Valley is the 2015 Chardonnay Bearwallow Vineyard and it offers more citrus oil, white flowers and lemon characteristics compared to the Anderson Valley release. With building richness, a sensational texture, integrated, yet bright acidity, and a great finish, it’s just another killer Chardonnay from this estate that’s well worth your time and money." (08/2017) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Chardonnay Bearwallow Vineyard is the most expressive of the vineyard designa...

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A deft, indeed almost invisible, touch of wood sets off even more complex aromas of spicy red Pinot fruit and warm earth nuances that also suffuse the concentrated, intense and powerful big-bodied flavors that are supported by distinctly firm tannins and a much more overt sense of austerity on the strikingly long finish. This is built to age and will probably outlive the Home...The estate wines of Rhys Vineyards are made from biodynamically farmed fruit and owner Kevin Harvey and winemaker Jeff Brinkman continue to d...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Medium ruby, the 2019 Pinot Noir Savoy Vineyard offers plush black berry fruits on the nose with notes of fir, forest floor and black tea leaves. Medium-bodied, the palate is silky and seamlessly fresh, offering a flush of earth-laced fruits and lingering spices on the finish. 340 cases were made. (EB)" (02/2021) 94 points Vinous: "The 2019 Pinot Noir Savoy Vineyard is absolutely gorgeous. In this vintage, the Savoy has a bit more complexity, layers and depth than in some previous vintages. Dark blue and purpli...

93 points John Gilman: "The 2019 Oppenlander Vineyard Pinot Noir from Halcón Vineyards comes in this year at 13.4 percent octane and shows a world of promise. The nose wafts from the glass in a complex blend of red and black cherries, some sweet stem tones, woodsmoke, fresh Mendocino herbs, dark soil tones and a touch of cedary oak. On the palate the wine is pure, precise and full-bodied, with a lovely core of fruit, fine soil transparency, ripe, firm tannins, tangy acids and a long, primary and vibrant finish. This is a puppy and will demand some bottle...

94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A brooding yet wonderfully complex, ripe and layered nose features red and blue pinot fruit, elegant violet nuances plus subtle spice hints with a subtle herbal character that complements the wonderfully rich, deep and mouth coating medium-full flavors where the complexity of the nose continues on to the sappy and mouth coating finish that delivers seriously impressive length and impeccable balance. This is a stunning effort that has a certain restraint and sophistication to it that is very appealing. I have exactly ...

92 points Vinous: "An addition to the range, the 2013 Pinot Noir Wendling is a powerful, immediate wine. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, chocolate and sweet spices give the wine its round, succulent personality. The 2013 is bold, ripe and voluptuous, with striking intensity and plenty of up-front appeal. This is one of the riper wines in the range. (AG)" (03/2017) 90 points Wine & Spirits: "Situated at the northwestern border of Anderson Valley, the Wendling Vineyard is among the coolest in the appellation. Winemaker Wells Guthrie draws on 15 acres of vin...

This 2019 red blend is mostly Carignan (93%) from a 70-year-old plot situated high on the slopes above Anderson Valley (2,400 ft. elevation). The remaining fruit is the little known Valdigue varietal from a nearby plot of 75-year-old vines. The wine is fermented with 100% whole clusters and put up in neutral oak for 11 months. It's easily one of the enjoyably drinkable yet truly unique wines to come from Mendocino and proof of just how much there is to discover up there.

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Elegant and luxuriously smooth, this finely balanced wine pairs ripe and round black-cherry and winter-spice flavors with tangy underlying acidity for great balance. Mild tannins add to the sense of palate-cleansing freshness and help create a lingering finish. *Editors’ Choice* (JG) " (08/2021)

96 points James Suckling: "This has such deep, red-fruit aromas and a beautifully sappy edge, too. The vibrant fruit here is so striking and so deep with a glossy feel and very fine, silky tannins. This is so full of pleasure. So supple and silky. Drink or hold." (09/2019) 94 points Wine Spectator: "Vibrant, offering concentrated cherry flavors that feature rich pastry notes, backed by firm tannins and powerful acidity. 90 points Connoisseurs Guide: "Just as it did in last year’s survey of sparkling wines, Scharffenberger’s Brut Rosé once again impresses with its fine combination of deep, slightly juicy, very well-stated fruit and integral autolysis. It is a deftly balanced wine with a steady, very long-lasting stream of tiny bubbles, and, although we continue to be happily surprised at the number of affordable sparklers that merit 'Good Value' recommendation, this wine’s buoyancy, intricate layering and careful crafting earns it an especially enthusiastic nod as nothin...
