2008 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
100 points Jane Anson: "Easily the best Champagne I had all year, first tasted at a château lunch. I couldn't stop thinking about it, and eventually bought a bottle for my husband's 50th. Just so much power and precision, while still having the delicacy, easy glamour and the most moreish delivery of fresh acidities and fleshy citrus. At it opens, toasted brioche, liqourice root and oyster shell curl out of the glass. Richard Geoffroy cellar master." (06/2021) 98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2008 Dom Pérignon is the first time the estate has released a wine...

2015 Castello Fonterutoli Chianti Classico Gran Selezione (Elsewhere $70) (Elsewhere $70)
Top Pick!
96 points James Suckling: "Dried violets and lavender, cedar, cloves, vanilla and tobacco. Full body with ripe and chewy tannins, but this remains focused and dialed-in thanks to mouthwatering acidity. Not to mention beautiful blue fruit that comes to the surface, particularly on the long finish." (09/2018) 94 points Wine Advocate: "The Mazzei family was among the first to embrace the Gran Selezione category of high-end Chianti Classico. Their 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello Fonterutoli shows the sharpness and detail that wine is supposed...

2021 San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri
Top Pick!
99-100 points Decanter: "In 2021, ‘we had a nicely paced harvest... surely a very fortunate vintage for us, for Bolgheri,’ said Priscilla Incisa della Rocchetta at the launch in London of the 2021 vintage of Sassicaia. Welcome rain in mid-August came at just the right time to save the harvest, and production ended up being slightly higher than in 2020. Around eight to 10 separate vinifications were made, fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and spontaneous malo. The wines were racked to second- and third-use barriques in December 2021, the...

2019 Château Gigognan "Clos du Roi" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Top Pick!
95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Vinified primarily in concrete with a small proportion of whole-bunch fermentation, there's a lifted, airy freshness to Gigognan's Clos du Roi that's consistent from vintage to vintage. A full-bodied blend of Grenache (70%), Mourvédre (20%) and Syrah (10%), it's packed with layers of succulent blackberry, cherry and plum flavors, edged by a stony, salty minerality. *Editors' Choice* (AI)" (11/2022) 93 points Wine Spectator: "A meaty wine, with converging flavors of earth, tar, violet and fruit, plus cranberry and cassis note...

Jean-Jacques Lamoureux "Les Amoureux" Pinot Blanc Champagne
Top Pick!
We only received 300 bottles of this all Pinot Blanc rarity from Lamoureux, an all- estate-grown Champagne from Les Riceys, just three miles from the border with Burgundy. This comes from a half-acre parcel that only yields one press load each year, but sadly in some years yields nothing as Pinot Blanc buds early and is prone to early frost. This has seen three years of aging on the lees and has some very nice toasty quality to go with the exotic fruit of the Pinot Blanc. Best of all, this broad, rich Champagne finishes dry but not austere. (Gary Westby,...

Sutherland Bottled By Thompson Bros. 5 Year Old Limited 2024 Release Blended Highland Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Top Pick!
The incredible Dornoch Distillery is easily the most exciting new distillery operation in Scotland today. Run by brothers Phil & Simon Thompson, they understand the desires of true whisky lovers like few other distillers in the region. While their tiny distillery can only produce a handful of barrels a year, they're in the process of building a much more substantial plant and while we wait, they've built an excellent independent bottling operation known as Thompson Bros (Redacted Bros stateside.) This special whisky pays homage to their home region, a ...

Baron-Fuenté "Grande Réserve" Brut Champagne (Elsewhere $37) (Elsewhere $37)
Top Pick!
90 points James Suckling: "Pastry, baked-apple and citrus aromas here. It’s medium-bodied, fresh and gently yeasty with fine bubbles. Nicely balanced." (06/2024) Wine Spectator: "A light, lively Champagne, with a pure note of crunchy green apple riding the lacy texture, accompanied by hints of almond skin, ground ginger and pink grapefruit pith. Modest finish. Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. (AN)" (12/2023) K&L Notes: Baron-Fuenté is a négociant that owns almost 90 acres of vines and purchases another 90 acres "sur pied," meaning that they ...

97 points Decanter: "Pure and precise with a fine bead and great balance. Classic Chenin pear and apple aromatics with a streak of lemon. Vibrantly textured with a lemony freshness and a hint of toast on the finish. (DWWA 2022)" (06/2022) K&L Notes: Maison Laudacius is an association of farmers working in the small region of Montlouis-sur-Loire. 2016 Thierry Thibault Vintage Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
This single vineyard, 100% Meunier champagne comes from the oldest and best plot of Thierry Thibault's estate, La Croix St. Remy in the fabled-for-meunier village of Verneuil. The over fifty year old parcel is vinified in stainless steel and was aged for six years on the lees and then more than a year on the cork. Thierry's father was the chef de cave at Charles Heidsieck, and was a huge believer in post disgorgement ageing. The results are fantastic- a rich tarte tatin nose and mid palate, filled with Meunier personality but free of any rustic flavors, ...

1991 Xavier Vignon "1991" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Top Pick!
Xavier Vignon's greatest strength as a winemaker is his ability to establish long lasting and unique relationships with his partner winemakers and growers. For more than a few years, Vignon has made exciting and sumptuous modern wines but he has also indulged in a few unique and interesting projects along the way. One such project is what we call the vintage series. From those long-standing relationships, Xavier finds parcels of vintage wine from domaines that have been sitting on juice in both barrel and tank for extended periods of time. Sometimes d...

Franck Bonville Grand Cru Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
92 points Wine Advocate: "Disgorged in March 2023 with a dosage of 8.3 grams per liter, the NV Brut Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs from Franck Bonville is showing brilliantly, with aromas of lemon oil, almond, butter, spring flowers and crisp orchard fruits. It is tauter than the Unisson counterpart with a medium to full-bodied palate, crystalline and lively texture and a slightly smoky, ethereal, long finish. Crafted from vines planted in Avize and Oger, it’s a blend of 2019 and 2020 vintages. (YC)" (11/2023) Vinous: "The NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru ...

2023 TWR (Te Whare Ra) Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough
Top Pick!
95 points James Halliday: "80/20% Awatere/Wairau Valley fruit; 10% goes into oak for ferment. Blackberry leaf, Thai basil and yellow guava. Blueberry flesh, fennel and chalk. The palate is weighted with ripe passionfruit, nectarine and honeysuckle. This is ripe and rich. It's densely packed and acidity trots in line, enabling a long, slippery finish. A hint of celery salt and raw cashew on the finish with a smattering of lacey skin texture. Lots of value here, for the price tag, and a memorable wine." Top Pick!
Portola Vineyards is a tiny boutique winery based in the Santa Cruz Mountains. In addition to their own estate vineyard they source fruit from other top vineyards across the region. 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Violet-red to the eye, this wine has a bouquet of cassis, saddle leather and clove. It feels good in the mouth, offering flavors of blackberry, strawberry, chocolate-covered coffee bean and vanilla. Satin tannins dissolve into a soft rose-petal finish. (MD)" (07/2022) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Sweet oak, vanilla, cherry and bitter almond flavors converge in this muscular, balanced red. 94-97 points Jasper Morris: "A fuller yellow here, and an extra degree of completeness, more weight and almost all the class. The oak is still at 50% new and is very well integrated. Gorgeously rich, with little fruits dancing through a meadow. Once again, I do see the magic of this. Henri was strongly advised by his father to look after “Madame de la Mouchère”. 2007 Glengoyne 16 Year Old "Old Malt Cask" K&L Exclusive Single Refill Sherry Butt Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky (700ml)

The wonderful Glengoyne distillery is always one to keep an eye. Built in 1833, it was sold by Archiball Macllelan to the Lang Brothers where it remained until 1965 when it was purchased by a predecessor organization to Edrington Group. In 2003, it was sold to blenders and bottlers Ian Macleod and they've rightfully made Glengoyne a worldwide brand. They're famous for their sherried malt and it's rare to see a butt make it out of their warehouses under anyone else's label. Dosage 8.3 g/l. More fruity than their whites. Blood orange with a touch of sweetness that I didn’t find in the white wines. Lime bonbon. Dusty spices on the finish, like fine-ground walnut skin. This is very satisfying. Plump in the middle. Wonderful food rosé. (TC)" (05/2023) K&L Notes: This little bottle of rosé is delicious! This is the first time we have had th...

2015 Alexandre Le Brun "Cuvée Fascination" Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
Alexandre Le Brun is the smallest producer that we import (or even carry) from Champagne at just 7.5 acres. He only makes wine from half of the grapes he brings in, selling the rest off to negociants; his production totals just one thousand cases a year. This tiny scale allows Alex to do nearly everything himself and this hands-on approach shows through in the finished product. He only uses his own estate fruit for his Champagne, and this wine comes from just two rows in the grand cru of Chouilly, in a plot called La Derriere du Mont Aigu. This is electr...

Top Pick!
90-92 points Jasper Morris: "Four plots making around 3ha. 80% in stainless steel and 20% in oak, sample prepared, actual blend will be before the harvest. A delightful very pale lime green. There is a little flesh apparent even on the nose from the age of the vines. Excellent tension behind, a searing chiselled white fruit, for once the old vine aspect really adds something rather than just making more concentrated. 2022 Kalinda Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Top Pick!
For decades now, our Kalinda private label has been providing K&L customers with awesome wines at a fraction of what they'd normally pay under the producers' mainstay labels. Naturally, no producer wants their wines on the market for less than what they'd usually sell for, so the trade-off is anonymity. This is a superb Cabernet-very elegant and user friendly already. Lots of sweet cassis and red fruit aromas that follow to the palate. No hard edges here-drink it young with a prime rib or steak dinner. Will cellar well for five plus years. clyde

Initial gun smoke notes morph into more opulent aromas like honeyed apple, citrus peel and toasted hazelnut. 2019 Costanti Brunello di Montalcino

100 points Decanter: "I remember tasting Costanti’s 2019 Rosso di Montalcino in 2021 and thinking how Brunello-esque it was: the sturdy structure was almost uncharacteristic, yet it certainly boded well for the Brunello. Simply gloriously sculpted, the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is indeed statuesque and stately. While it doesn’t give everything up all at once, it is gracious in its presentation. Domaine Cherrier was founded in 1930. Since then four generations of the family have run the estate. The Sancerre is consistently delicious, with citrus, chalky minerality and light floral notes. Its dry finish complements seafood and cheese beautifully. K&L French Regional buyer Keith Mabry says: "The Cherrier to me is always one of the biggest crowd-pleasing Sancerres/Sauvignon Blancs from anywhere in the world."

Layers of kirsch, raspberry sauce, cinnamon, cardamom and iodine mark a wine of sexiness and sensuality. Again, this is a style reflective of a different era for Neely. Growing season differences notwithstanding, the 2018 checks in at 14.1% alcohol, nearly two full degrees higher than the 2021 tasted alongside.
