93 points Vinous: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is powerful, deep and concentrated, with plenty of the intense savory and earthy undertones that are typical of this site. Succulent red cherry, tobacco, menthol, plum, licorice, smoke, tar and licorice give the wine much of its distinctive personality. (AG)" (09/2016)

97 points Vinous: "If I had to pick a wine that encapsulates the essence of Calistoga, it might very well be Kelly Fleming's 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate. The darkness, the depth, the brawn, the pure power, the intense savoriness. It's all there in a majestic, explosive Cabernet that dazzles from the very first taste. Readers will have to be patient with the 2018, as it is going to need a number of years to settle down. Time in the glass brings out hints of blackberry, plum, grilled herbs, scorched earth, leather, sweet pipe tobacco and sage. Inky and ...

96 points Decanter: "This Pinot Noir originates from a 6.5-hectare site in the Dundee Hills AVA, where vines are rooted in the region's famous Jory soils. Aged for 15 months in 30% new French oak, this wine exudes freshness and clarity reminiscent of the Alpine lake depicted on its label. Juicy pomegranate seeds, cherry-raspberry leather, and sandalwood dominate the medium-bodied palate, framed by superfine tannins and a clean acid cut. Subtle hints of pine forest and cacao bean emerge on the long, elegant finish. The grapes were destemmed, underwent a 7...

This wine exudes the unmistakable character of a Pacific Northwest Chardonnay, marked by its clean, bright, and vivid elegance, paired with pure fruit expression that captures energy and tension. Aromatics are infused with the freshness of grapes growing in the cool air of nearby conifer forests and bubbling springs, showcasing lime and ...

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2021 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is a touch more complex as well as precise. Stone fruits, white flowers, spicy oak, and a kiss of chalky minerality all define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a pure, elegant, layered mouthfeel, flawless balance, and a great finish. It shows the balanced, complete, incredibly impressive style of the 2021 vintage beautifully." (08/2024) 93 points Vinous: "The 2021 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is a classy, polished wine. 94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2021 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is deep ruby-hued (it's not opaque) and offers an intense, piercing perfume of peppery red and black cherries, sappy herbs, candied violets, and spicy oak. Beautifully balanced, medium-bodied, and concentrated, it brings plenty of ripe tannins, has nicely integrated oak, and a great finish. It's a serious Pinot Noir that's going to benefit from just a year or three of bottle age and shine through at least 2033." (08/2024) 93 points Vinous: "The 2021 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vi...

Elegant and medium-bodied on the palate, showing some fine, dusty tannins and a juicy, sweet berry-oriented finish. 72% grenache, 13% syrah, 6% cinsault, 5% mourvedre and 4% counoise. " (07/2022)

93 points Vinous: "The 2018 Pinot Noir Estate Upper Picnic Block is eminently charming in its sweet-fruited, exuberantly spiced, medium-weight build. Layers of kirsch, raspberry sauce, cinnamon, cardamom and iodine mark a wine of sexiness and sensuality. Again, this is a style reflective of a different era for Neely. Growing season differences notwithstanding, the 2018 checks in at 14.1% alcohol, nearly two full degrees higher than the 2021 tasted alongside. I prefer this edition, as it’s still finessed but has more stage presence and inner harmony. The ...

Coming from a small one acre vineyard in Woodside, CA, Whiskey Hill Cabernet Sauvignon is a true boutique production with just 2-3 barrels made each vintage. This area at the foot of the Santa Cruz Mountains is historically significant to California Cabernet as the site back in the 1890s that Emmett Rixford planted his cuttings brought from the famed Chateau Margaux in Bordeaux. The moderate climate and Franciscan Shale soils here are perfect for Cabernmet Sauvignon. A special winery-direct deal brings this unique little wine to you at a fantastic price....

The Porterhouse Reserve Proprietary Red is a selection of the winemaker's very finest barrels from this site in a given vintage. While this vineyard and the sub-region is known for world-class Cabernet Sauvignon (Black Ridge's neighbors include Mount Eden and Ridge Monte Bello), winemaker Adam Comartin is very fond of the Cabernet Franc grown in these rocky Franciscan Shale soils. So, the 2019 red is a thoughtful mix of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cab Franc, and 10% Merlot. The wine was aged for over 3 years in French oak barrels, 50% new oak.

98 points Decanter: "One of the most exciting domestic Syrahs, this wine beautifully showcases a well-crafted expression of the ‘classic’ funk of The Rocks. The deep umami notes come from the concentration of flavours in the berries due to the vines’ low yields. Notable aromas of green olives and peppers, violets, and meats complement those flavours. This Syrah includes 50% whole cluster and spends 40 days on the skins, enhancing its complexity and depth."

The wonderful Glengoyne distillery is always one to keep an eye. Built in 1833, it was sold by Archiball Macllelan to the Lang Brothers where it remained until 1965 when it was purchased by a predecessor organization to Edrington Group. In 2003, it was sold to blenders and bottlers Ian Macleod and they've rightfully made Glengoyne a worldwide brand. They're famous for their sherried malt and it's rare to see a butt make it out of their warehouses under anyone else's label.
