93 points James Suckling: "Dried apple and pineapple with hints of coconut, steel and some flint. Full-bodied and tight with intensity and power. This will open nicely with bottle age. Try after 2022." (07/2021) 92 points Vinous: "The 2019 Chardonnay is a unique wine, as it includes a fair amount of Viognier that adds pretty floral and tropical overtones. Apricot, mint, tangerine oil, chamomile and dried flowers all open nicely in the glass. (AG)" (01/2021)

97 points Decanter: "A fantastic drive of oyster shell and crushed stone minerality navigates its way seamlessly through the gleaming lemon peel and white fruit purity. Generous, full and lavishly textured with a fine bead of acidity. Southern Rhône perfection. *Platinum Medal* (DWWA 2024)" (06/2024) K&L Notes: 50% Clairette, 30% Grenache Blanc, 20% Marsanne

95 points James Halliday: "80/20% Awatere/Wairau Valley fruit; 10% goes into oak for ferment. Blackberry leaf, Thai basil and yellow guava. Blueberry flesh, fennel and chalk. The palate is weighted with ripe passionfruit, nectarine and honeysuckle. This is ripe and rich. It's densely packed and acidity trots in line, enabling a long, slippery finish. A hint of celery salt and raw cashew on the finish with a smattering of lacey skin texture. Lots of value here, for the price tag, and a memorable wine." (09/2024) 94 points Sam Kim: "Pristine and brightly...

94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Made by Greg Brewer and already bottled, the 2023 Chardonnay comes from the Mission Mills Vineyard just outside of Los Alamos. Its vivid medium gold hue is followed by a vibrant nose of salted citrus, tangerine, exotic flowers, and subtle spice. Medium-bodied, pure, rounded, and beautifully balanced, it has plenty of power and density, integrated acidity, and a great finish. This impeccably made Chardonnay should be snatched up by readers, as it competes with wines at two to three times the price." (08/2024) 94 points Vinous: "T...

95 points James Suckling: "This just takes off at the finish, with bright, tangy acidity and plenty of minerality. Full-bodied and so tangy and energetic. Fantastic chardonnay. Hints of aniseed and flint. Grows in the glass. Delicious now, but will age beautifully." (03/2022) 94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2018 Chardonnay Estate sports a medium gold hue to go with a gorgeous nose of white peach, stone fruits, honeysuckle, and toasted bread. Beautifully balanced, elegant, and with plenty of sweet fruit and great acidity, this is a killer Chardonnay I'd be ...

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Grown in 70% limestone and 30% clay soils, this Sancerre boasts depth and complexity. The wine opens with a perfumed nose of Bosc pear, freshly peeled golden apple, nectarine skin and orange blossom. The palate is layered with additional flavors of marmalade and slivered almonds. (RS)" (12/2024) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Hints of tropical richness and honey course alongside notes of apple, melon and subtle spices in this broad, intriguing white. An element of singed orange peel adds to the depth, while radish spice brings c...

One of K&L's very finest buys from France, this is a reserve cuvée, made from Millet's chalkiest limestone soils. There is a long maceration at very low temperatures to extract as much flavor and character as possible. The resulting wine is intensely charged with stone fruit and minerality, and bright citrus notes. The wines of this family domaine have been a staple here at K&L since the 1994 vintage when Franck and Betty Millet drove a long way (to Beaune!) on Easter Sunday to meet Clyde and crew to present the wines. We love these wines for their fresh...

We can tell you this much: our Kalinda private label hooks you up with awesome wine at a fraction of what you'd otherwise pay for this exact same wine under its normal label. While we have to remain quiet about the source of this beauty, we can tell you that it sells elsewhere under the winery label at a much higher premium. Get it while it lasts.

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Clean and mineral-driven aromas of wet rocks, macadamia nut and Meyer lemon cream make for an inviting nose on this bottling. There's a chalky frame to the palate, where citrus flavors burst forth alongside Pink Lady apple for a crisp sip. (MK)" (07/2022)

97 points James Suckling: "With almost pungent minerality and gigantic concentration, this awesome Savennieres shows how great dry whites from the chenin blanc grape can be. On paper this must have plenty of acidity, but it’s so beautifully integrated that you don’t think about it. With some aeration this develops a wonderful nose of honeysuckle. Extremely long wet-stone finish. From organically grown grapes. Produced from Loureiro and Pederña grapes grown in the granitic soils of the Vinho Verde region, the Santola (or as we here are calling it, "the crab wine") is a delicious, spritely, and refreshing white. It doesn't get much more traditional, thirst-quenching, or seasonally perfect than this wine. Delicious, low in alcohol, slightly fizzy, and way too easy to drink!

This is a lively and classic Bourgogne from the warm, generous 2023 vintage. The year was hot overall, with excellent growing conditions leading to regional bottlings (like this one) that far overdeliver in terms of value.
97 points James Suckling: "Tatami straw, aniseed, Asian pear, pear granita and the barest hints of stone fruit. Yet the mid-weighed palate is taut, salty and immensely refined, packing a power punch to the long finish. A tour de force for the vintage, without the stony reticence of Les Preuses. Salty phenolics, chewy and nourishing, bode well for the future." (03/2024) 94-96 points Wine Advocate: "Deeper-pitched than the ethereal Preuses, the 2022 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos exhibits aromas of ripe citrus fruits, peach, white flowers, beeswax, nutmeg an...

90-92 points Jasper Morris: "Four plots making around 3ha. 80% in stainless steel and 20% in oak, sample prepared, actual blend will be before the harvest. A delightful very pale lime green. There is a little flesh apparent even on the nose from the age of the vines. Excellent tension behind, a searing chiselled white fruit, for once the old vine aspect really adds something rather than just making more concentrated. " (09/2023) K&L Notes: Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "Vines older than 55 years, provenance of those grapes the same as for the last wine....

91 points James Suckling: "A well-rounded, seductive and refreshing Muscadet with aromas of lime, chalk and mild spices. Medium body with fresh acidity. A deliciously silky white with crispiness and comforting volume giving nice balance to the salivating finish. " (05/2024) K&L Notes: Composed of Melon de Bourgogne, this wine was made to pair with sushi, shellfish, or roasted chicken. Moules Frites is a classic pairing!

The appellation of Picpoul de Pinet covers about 3,000 acres just off the coast of the Mediterranean. It is famous for two things: oysters and this wine of origin, Picpoul. Picpoul itself is the grape and means "lip stinger," which has become a running joke in our Hollywood store. Whenever we taste a new Picpoul, we ask each other, "does this pic your poul?"

93-96 points Wine Advocate: "A brilliant wine in the making, Dauvissat's 2022 Chablis 1er Cru La Forest unfurls in the glass with youthfully reductive scents of citrus oil, crisp stone fruit, white flowers, oyster shell and subtle hints of orange blossom. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with superb depth at the core and an electric finish, this cuvée has navigated the vintage's extremes with ease. Gerard Tremblay is officially en retrait, although his retirement is like that of many growers in that he continues to work, both in the vineyards and the cellar. His son Vincent Tremblay has now taken over the reins. They farm an impressive 35 hectares (about 90 acres) of vines, in appellations from Petite Chablis to Grand Cru Vaudesirs. The wines are terrific and extremely well-priced. Tremblay’s style is to press very carefully and slowly, to avoid extracting harsh or green tannins from the seeds. Then after a 24-hour settling, the wine is racked gent...

Domaine Cherrier was founded in 1930. Since then four generations of the family have run the estate. The domaine has limestone and calcareous clay soils that wonderfully influence the character of the grapes grown there. The Sancerre is consistently delicious, with citrus, chalky minerality and light floral notes. Its dry finish complements seafood and cheese beautifully. K&L French Regional buyer Keith Mabry says: "The Cherrier to me is always one of the biggest crowd-pleasing Sancerres/Sauvignon Blancs from anywhere in the world."

95 points Decanter: "Finca La Emperatriz is situated close to the borders of the Rioja appellation, in one of the coolest areas in the whole region. So much so that a little bit more to the west, vine cultivation is not feasible. It is also at relatively high altitude – almost 600m – which is particularly beneficial for white grape varieties. Grapes for this wine are Viura from poor soils, which were cool-macerated before crushing. Partly fermented and aged in barrels, partly in concrete vats, with lees contact, for 10 months before bottle ageing. Pedro ...

The palate delivers excellent weight and intensity, wonderfully framed by saline texture and bright acidity, finishing impressively long and structured. At its best: now to 2036. " (09/2024) 94 points Wine Advocate: "The 2024 Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc leads with a complex nose of sweet pea, cassis bramble, gooseberry, elderflower, preserved citrus and brine. The winery of Finca la Emperatriz is a single estate property in the way that we think of with Bordeaux. It should be of no surprise seeing that the former owner of the property was none other than Eugénie de Montijo, wife of Napoleon III and last Empress of France, whom the property is named after. The El Jardin is the second wine of Finca la Emperatriz. The El Jardin Blanco is sourced from old vine Viura from the estate's vineyards. The wine is fermented in stainless-steel and then is aged in concrete tanks for two months with regular lees stirring. Cr...

Jacques Coipel worked in the petrol industry until 2002 when he decided to change career paths and enter the wine business. He purchased an exceptional site in the Cotes du Rhone Village Cru of Valreas. His vineyards sit at around 1200 feet with a mix of clay, limestone and gravel making up the soils. With cooling winds from the north and at this higher altitude, there is a crispness to the wines showing more red fruit qualities in the reds and more vibrant apple tones in the whites. Around the same time Jacques's son, Julien, began studying winemaking w...

Bibi Graetz "Casamatta" Bianco is a vibrant and approachable white wine that captures the essence of Tuscany’s coastal vineyards. Crafted primarily from Vermentino, with Trebbiano and Moscato lending complexity, this blend is a testament to Bibi Graetz’s dedication to expressing the purity and charm of native grape varieties.
The wine pours a pale straw yellow with greenish highlights. The nose is lively, revealing aromas of white peach, citrus zest, and wildflowers, with a subtle herbal undertone. On the palate, it is crisp and refreshing, with flavors...
93 points Tim Atkin: ""I like wood on Albariño, as long as it's subtle," says Sonia Castro and that's certainly the case here. Stainless steel fermented before ageing in foudres, it has the classic focus and chiselled acidity of the 2021 vintage in the Salnés Valley, with flavours of lemon juice, green apple and orange zest and a hint of baking spice sweetness. 2024-30" (11/2024) 92 points Wine Advocate: "2021 was a cooler and rainier year with higher acidity, so some wines went through (partial) malolactic. Domaine Renaud is a small operation in the town of Puissé, where they make Mâcon, Pouilly-Fuissé and St. Veran wines from twelve hectares of estate vineyards. Their cellar is modern and they use upright ovals for many of the wines, stainless steel for others. The wines have long been customer favorites at K&L with their clean and fresh style, and their affordable price tags. With citrus and stone fruit profiles, zippy acidity, and a minerality that comes from their terroir, we think Renaud is one of the best entry-level Burgundy estates we carry at K&L.

Jesús Puelles is one of the most talented vignerons in Rioja. Hailing from a long line of vineyard worker/owners, Puelles knows the terruño in his little slice of land in the Rioja Alta town of Abalos. Most of the grapes for his red wines come from his own 20 hectares, which are north-facing and located at 600 meters in altitude, affording the visitor with one of the most dramatically beautiful views of Rioja's main mountain ranges: the Sierra Cantabria mountains immediately to the north and the Sierra de la Demanda mountains to the south. This white win...

94 points Vinous: "The 2010 Chardonnay Le Bon Climat opens with knock-out aromatics. Translucent and super-expressive, the 2010 boasts an enticing mélange of aromas, flavors and textures that is compelling. A host of orchard fruit, spice, butter, pastry and pear open up, but it is the wine's textural beauty and overall feel to be absolutely irresistible. Just entering the early part of its drinking window, the 2010 is an absolute jewel of a wine. Jim Clendenen seems to take things in stride. Once the darling of American wine, then cast off into near-obsc...

In 1973, Daniel Dugois bought two hectares of vineyard and a house equipped with wine cellars in a village called Les Arsures, where he was born. He cultivated the vineyard and sold his production primarily to Henri Maire, one of the most prominent producers in Jura at that time. In 1982, Daniel made his first harvest in his own cellars and began to sell his wines to consumers. His first-ever harvest earned him his first Gold Medal for his Chardonnay at the Jura Wine Contest. Daniel and his wife Monique have continued to work on the quality of their wine...

A warm weather superstar, this is 100% Vermentino. Domaine Petroni lies on the eastern shore of Corsica near Lake Diane, one of the great sources for oysters and mussels on the island. Founded in 1885 and run by the Ramazotti brothers, the vineyards are planted on sandy and clay soils overlooking the Mediterranean. Their rosé was one of our great success stories this year, but the white and red have emerged as house favorites as well.

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "A strong vintage for Te Mata and the Hawke's Bay region in general, this release of Elston strikes a fine balance between fruit ripeness, freshness and oak. Lemon and pineapple aromas are vibrant above seashell and creamy oak nuances. The palate shows lovely slippery texture, crystalline acidity and concentrated fruit. It's supported, not dominated, by the wood. A persistent citrus finish makes it easy to take another sip. A classy wine that's drinking gracefully now but should gain complexity until around 2028. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in concrete eggs for more texture, this is very much a coastal wine, with sea breeze salinity, a hint of fennel and beeswax and a focused, mineralrich core." 91 points Wine Advocate: "The young 2023 Albariño is varietal and has the imprint of the sandy and granite soils. It has good ripeness and 13% alcohol, keeping very good acidity and freshness (pH 3.29 and 7.46 grams of acidity), with a bittersweet twist in the finish. It's clean, round and tasty.
