95 points James Halliday: "80/20% Awatere/Wairau Valley fruit; 10% goes into oak for ferment. Blackberry leaf, Thai basil and yellow guava. Blueberry flesh, fennel and chalk. The palate is weighted with ripe passionfruit, nectarine and honeysuckle. This is ripe and rich. It's densely packed and acidity trots in line, enabling a long, slippery finish. A hint of celery salt and raw cashew on the finish with a smattering of lacey skin texture. Lots of value here, for the price tag, and a memorable wine." Domaine Cherrier was founded in 1930. Since then four generations of the family have run the estate. The domaine has limestone and calcareous clay soils that wonderfully influence the character of the grapes grown there. The Sancerre is consistently delicious, with citrus, chalky minerality and light floral notes. Its dry finish complements seafood and cheese beautifully. K&L French Regional buyer Keith Mabry says: "The Cherrier to me is always one of the biggest crowd-pleasing Sancerres/Sauvignon Blancs from anywhere in the world."

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Grown in 70% limestone and 30% clay soils, this Sancerre boasts depth and complexity. The wine opens with a perfumed nose of Bosc pear, freshly peeled golden apple, nectarine skin and orange blossom. The palate is layered with additional flavors of marmalade and slivered almonds. (RS)" (12/2024) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Hints of tropical richness and honey course alongside notes of apple, melon and subtle spices in this broad, intriguing white. An element of singed orange peel adds to the depth, while radish spice brings c...

94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Made by Greg Brewer and already bottled, the 2023 Chardonnay comes from the Mission Mills Vineyard just outside of Los Alamos. Its vivid medium gold hue is followed by a vibrant nose of salted citrus, tangerine, exotic flowers, and subtle spice. Medium-bodied, pure, rounded, and beautifully balanced, it has plenty of power and density, integrated acidity, and a great finish. This impeccably made Chardonnay should be snatched up by readers, as it competes with wines at two to three times the price." (08/2024) 94 points Vinous: "T...

We can tell you this much: our Kalinda private label hooks you up with awesome wine at a fraction of what you'd otherwise pay for this exact same wine under its normal label. While we have to remain quiet about the source of this beauty, we can tell you that it sells elsewhere under the winery label at a much higher premium. Get it while it lasts.

This is an excellent and top-value white Burgundy that will sing alongside a range of dishes and is priced to take home by the case!
Jasper Morris: "The 2023s were picked from 11th to 22nd.September. Cyril found that the early pickings had more juice than the latter ones, though he doesn’t see much difference between the greater and lesser yields. The highest degrees were no more than 12.7%, with acidities similar to 2022, though he expected them to be softer. " (12/2024) K&L Notes: According to wine critic Neal Martin, "Cyril Gautheron is the sixth generation of winemaker at this domaine based in the village of Fleys. There are 22 hectares of vine, including three premier crus. The...

95 points James Suckling: "This just takes off at the finish, with bright, tangy acidity and plenty of minerality. Full-bodied and so tangy and energetic. Fantastic chardonnay. Hints of aniseed and flint. Grows in the glass. Delicious now, but will age beautifully." (03/2022) 94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2018 Chardonnay Estate sports a medium gold hue to go with a gorgeous nose of white peach, stone fruits, honeysuckle, and toasted bread. Beautifully balanced, elegant, and with plenty of sweet fruit and great acidity, this is a killer Chardonnay I'd be ...

91 points James Suckling: "A well-rounded, seductive and refreshing Muscadet with aromas of lime, chalk and mild spices. Medium body with fresh acidity. A deliciously silky white with crispiness and comforting volume giving nice balance to the salivating finish. " (05/2024) K&L Notes: Composed of Melon de Bourgogne, this wine was made to pair with sushi, shellfish, or roasted chicken. Moules Frites is a classic pairing!

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Vibrant and fruity, this full-bodied, unoaked wine will be a star with fish and shellfish. It melds a sense of richness from Bosc pears and Pippin apples along with appetizing acidity enhanced by blocking the malolactic conversion. "
This is a lively and classic Bourgogne from the warm, generous 2023 vintage. The year was hot overall, with excellent growing conditions leading to regional bottlings (like this one) that far overdeliver in terms of value.
Lugana is a sleeper appellation in North-Central Italy, where the Turbiana grape thrives. It's light-bodied and fresh, with a slight roundness on the palate that lets peach and melon flavors shine. According to the producer, "This is a wine that stands out due to its great character, finesse, and persistent flavour. A bright, deep straw yellow in colour, it expresses the characteristics of the wines of Lugana to the full: very good body, a delicate fragrance, and a complex, refined bouquet. It goes particularly well with fish, white meats and hors d’oeuv...

Giovanni Blason and his wife Valentina are young producers who continuously surprise us with the price-to-quality ratio of their wines, earning them tons of kudos in Gambero Rosso and beyond. They come from the Isonzo region of Northern Italy, right up against the Slovenian border.

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Clean and mineral-driven aromas of wet rocks, macadamia nut and Meyer lemon cream make for an inviting nose on this bottling. There's a chalky frame to the palate, where citrus flavors burst forth alongside Pink Lady apple for a crisp sip. (MK)" (07/2022)

The wine was fermented with native yeast in a combination of stainless steel drums and neutral oak barrels, with periodic stirring to build texture and complexity. Lugana is a sleeper appellation in North-Central Italy, where the Turbiana grape thrives. This Riserva bottling sees a touch of aging in oak, giving the wine a golden color and rounded mouthfeel. Tenuta Roveglia is a new addition to our import portfolio, and we love the expressive wines they're turning out from their outpost at the foot of Lake Garda just west of Verona.

90 points Jasper Morris: "Not the Château’s own property but they run the vineyard of 1.20ha. Mid lemon yellow with a green streak. Quite spicy, dry fruit on the nose, intensity and volume, the spice returns with a little oak. Perfectly bred on the palate, with a very satisfying and not too rich finish. Drink from 2025-2029." (03/2024) 90 points Vinous: "From 1.2 hectares of vines that tend to be picked earlier than others, the 2022 Viré-Clessé Quintaine has a delightful bouquet with white peach and almond scents. The palate is well-balanced with a sto...

The appellation of Picpoul de Pinet covers about 3,000 acres just off the coast of the Mediterranean. It is famous for two things: oysters and this wine of origin, Picpoul. Picpoul itself is the grape and means "lip stinger," which has become a running joke in our Hollywood store. Whenever we taste a new Picpoul, we ask each other, "does this pic your poul?"

The Santa Lucia Highlands, located on the east-facing terraces of the Santa Lucia mountain range, has a rich history dating back to the 1790s when Spanish settlers first planted vinifera grapes. Though initially focused on vegetable farming, the region's true potential for winegrowing was realized in the 1970s by pioneers like Nicky Hahn and Rich Smith, with the area becoming famous for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay by the 1990s. Officially designated an AVA in 1992, the region now spans 5,700 acres, producing some of California's most sought-after wines...

Gerard Tremblay is officially en retrait, although his retirement is like that of many growers in that he continues to work, both in the vineyards and the cellar. His son Vincent Tremblay has now taken over the reins. They farm an impressive 35 hectares (about 90 acres) of vines, in appellations from Petite Chablis to Grand Cru Vaudesirs. The wines are terrific and extremely well-priced. Tremblay’s style is to press very carefully and slowly, to avoid extracting harsh or green tannins from the seeds. Then after a 24-hour settling, the wine is racked gent...

Bibi Graetz "Casamatta" Bianco is a vibrant and approachable white wine that captures the essence of Tuscany’s coastal vineyards. 93 points Tim Atkin: ""I like wood on Albariño, as long as it's subtle," says Sonia Castro and that's certainly the case here. Stainless steel fermented before ageing in foudres, it has the classic focus and chiselled acidity of the 2021 vintage in the Salnés Valley, with flavours of lemon juice, green apple and orange zest and a hint of baking spice sweetness. 2024-30" (11/2024) 92 points Wine Advocate: "2021 was a cooler and rainier year with higher acidity, so some wines went through (partial) malolactic. Jesús Puelles is one of the most talented vignerons in Rioja. Hailing from a long line of vineyard worker/owners, Puelles knows the terruño in his little slice of land in the Rioja Alta town of Abalos. Most of the grapes for his red wines come from his own 20 hectares, which are north-facing and located at 600 meters in altitude, affording the visitor with one of the most dramatically beautiful views of Rioja's main mountain ranges: the Sierra Cantabria mountains immediately to the north and the Sierra de la Demanda mountains to the south. " (03/2024) Vinous: "The 2022 Saint-Véran comes from around the village of Chasselas. It has good ripeness and 13% alcohol, keeping very good acidity and freshness (pH 3.29 and 7.46 grams of acidity), with a bittersweet twist in the finish. It's clean, round and tasty. They produce 50,000 bottles and do different bottlings of the same blend, keeping the wine in stainless steel with the lees. Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "Mainly vines near the 1er cru of Beauroy on a Portlandian base.A smaller nose than many 22s today but with freshness and perfume. Hmm – there is depth and concentration to this wine and a ripe core of citrus but with a little shade to lime – which you don’t see much of in 22. The finish impresses with its persistence. A wine of fruit more than place today – which I said of some early bottled 2022s at the same time last year – but they are coming around well – so probably this will too!" (01/2024)

The winery of Finca la Emperatriz is a single estate property in the way that we think of with Bordeaux. La Costa's Vespaiolo is a light and refreshing white wine from the Veneto region of Italy. It opens with crunchy green apple and lemon zest notes that give way to pressed white flowers. The crisp palate pops with mixed orchard fruits and roasted citrus peel, finishing with a touch of sea salt. This wine is best enjoyed young, within 1 to 2 years of production, and served chilled at 8 - 10°C. It pairs excellently with seafood, light pasta dishes, and fresh cheeses.
Guy Farge took over the management of his family estate in 1980. Originally he sold his fruit to the Cave de Tain (where he worked) and then to Delas. In 2007, he began producing wines under his own label. Each year, the wines have grown and evolved as has Guy's winemaking prowess. Now working with his son Thomas, each bottling represents some of the best we have seen from his primarily granitic terroirs. The Bouquet de Blanc is an equal parts blend of Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne all fermented using indigenous yeasts. Aged in stainless steel, it is ...

Lemon and pineapple aromas are vibrant above seashell and creamy oak nuances. The palate shows lovely slippery texture, crystalline acidity and concentrated fruit. It's supported, not dominated, by the wood. A persistent citrus finish makes it easy to take another sip. A classy wine that's drinking gracefully now but should gain complexity until around 2028.
